This Snugpak Antartic Insulated Sleeping Mat, is a 4 season lightweight mat. This sleeping mat can be used directly on snow and ice and it won’t freeze, where other mats could go hard, split or even become brittle. This sleeping mat also has more than one use, so definitely versatile. I love it and highly recommend it. Definitely worth a look if you’re in the market for a new sleeping mat. Please remember though, if you are under taking a camping trip, that involves snow and ice, research into your camping gear and common sense, should be at the forefront of your mind. 👍
@@scotbotvideos Thanks for your comment. I don’t think you’ll ever replace the comfort of a nice air mat or pad, but it serves the purpose for some and over all I enjoy using this mat 👍
@@outdoorswithrichardI figured that at least having an Antarctic mat beneath my inflatable would give me some insulation in the event the inflatable punctured or self-deflated overnight. And, unlike with a roll-mat, I can scrunch it up and put inside the rucksack.

@@scotbotvideos Thanks for your comment. I like this mat, as I mentioned I think it’s a very versatile mat and the fact that is very light and can be compressed down fairly small, it’s a win win from me! 👍
oooh now that's an interesting product that I wasn't aware of. That could be very useful to put under an ultralight sleeping mat thats comfortable but not so thermally efficiant. Thanks for showing it to me.
An interesting product, however, since it will compress as you lie on it I am skeptical of how well it will actually insulate. I am dubious of its necessity given it will require another insulating layer. Though, when backpacking in cold environments its best to assume you will need more/larger kit so this extra protective layer might not be such a hindrance and more of a boon.
I have this and lots of other snugpak gear that I'm genuinely pleased with.. This not so much. Like you say it compresses and in my experience offers very little insulation. The only time I use it is in between my hammock underblanket and the hammock in the winter, would be great for the option to insert this into the jungle bag on top for cooler months found becuase of it's small size it won't work, although my poncho liner does.
Thanks for your comment. I personally like this mat, I’m also a big fan of the Jungle blanket! Could you use one for all uses? Good question! You probably could, to a degree, if so I would lean towards the mat for everything, however the blanket is bigger, decisions, decisions 🤔🤔🤔
Thanks for your comment and welcome to you from across the pond “Chicagoland” The Snugpak Antartic Insulated Sleeping Mat, has been out a while, but I think has started to pick up momentum in interest! 👍
Thanks for your comment. I can’t confirm if this mat has been tested in the actual Antarctic, I’m only going by Snugpaks product information, however from personal experience and from people I know, it has been tested on snow and ice, that I can confirm! 👍
@gordaro2828 Thanks for your comment. I’m not taking anything personally, I appreciate what your saying, I’m just giving you what information I have and my personal experience 👍

It's not comfortable, though. Even when two of them velcroed together. But it does make non-insulated inflated mats more suitable for year round use.

Thanks for your comment. It’s definitely worth a look 👀 I love mine, adds warmth, comfort and protection! 👍
A friend of mine has this mat and absolutely loves it!
I’m pleased with mine! 👍

Thanks for your comment. I personally like it and it’s worked for me, but in saying that its a product, that definitely divides opinion! 🤔

@dannyknight8082 it has its uses, albeit not perfect!
Thanks for the information on this, looks like this might be my next purchase.😎
Thanks for your comment. I personally think it’s a good investment and I’ve really enjoyed using mine, finding it very beneficial 👍
very helpful thanks. This vs folding plastic mat?
Thanks for your comment. I’ve never used a plastic mat, so can’t comment or compare.
Looks like a good bit of kit. How does it compare to the snugpak jungle blanket? Could one of these serve all the same uses as the jungle blanket?

Cool. Whats the R value?
Thanks for your comment. Snugpak don’t test there sleeping mats to R Values.
Is this a new product from snugpak? Loved your video too by the way. Cheers from across the pond in Chicagoland

Antarctic...has it ever been tested there?...if not...the name is an insult to those who have endured.
