    what i like about you is that you know how to be very practical and turn weaknesses around by following real action steps. and that is something i want to continue learning form you. sometimes its just following what works, and what we know we should do. You definitely have a great work ethic and belief in yourself.. and i definitely am following in your footsteps on that one.

    Thank you so much for sharing this. I am a nursing student and we are about to start passing meds soon. My biggest fear is making a medication error. I am also struggling with a lack of self-confidence and my goal this semester is to gain more confidence by being more prepared.

    We've all made med errors and we've all screwed up on narcs. I came across your series of videos by chance and watched this one. It's absolutely true that one has to face up to one's mistakes and call attention to them. In fact, it's very important to be the one who catches the mistake and reports it. It may be that there's some aspect in the routine or procedure that should be changed. UORs can point that out. All you said is true!

    I graduated with my BSN earlier this month and take my boards in a few weeks. I am struggling with my confidence and being the new nurse on the floor. I did well in school and know that I know a lot of information but I'm terrified to start working. This video really helped me. I know I am not going to know everything starting off, I just wish I felt more confident.

      nsg student
      Don't worry love, you cannot be confident in things that you have just started...
      Us nurses hold ourselves to a very high standard and want to be able to do everything perfectly... and now!
      But, this comes with time & you will always be learning and improving :)
      Take it one day at a time and in a few months or a year or so, when you talk to new nurses or nursing students... you will see how far you have come :)

    I have struggled with anxiety but after entering nursing school, it has been 10x worse. I would sometimes dread going into clinical because of a particular instructor or just the worries that I would not be good enough. Additionally, the fear of the unknown. I want to be a confident nurse in others’ eyes but most importantly in my own. How can I not dread clinical and when I graduate, as a new nurse? Is there any thing you also do for anxiety? Your feedback would be much appreciated!

    Hey Caroline I love you videos. so im just get right to it . I want to be a peds nurse but I hate dealing with the metric system and decimals. What is an easy way to remember the measurements portion while on the job.
    Thanks,
    Chelita Hagan

    • @empowern
      @empowern  10 лет назад

      Hi Chelita!
      It is nice to hear from you!
      Honestly, I went to google & printed off a form that I liked & kept it with me until I didn't need it any more! There are so many free references at our fingertips now that things are much easier now.
      When you are at work as a nurse though, you will need to worry about this even less, because all of the scales automatically give all the calculations in the metric systems.
      I personally do not work with peds, however in nursing school I remember thinking that the calculations were not that bad :)
      I hope this helps!!
      xoxo

    Hi EmpoweRN
    I had major problems with confidence when I was in nursing school (lvn) which my teachers could see and pointed out as a weakness. Even insinuated nursing might not be for me. I know its a whole diff level than nursing but has some similar clinical prep,medical asst degree. Im thinking maybe if I learn,giving medications (some med admin calculations),drawing blood and pt/med asst interaction etc,it might help me build my confidence? what do you think?

    • @empowern
      @empowern  9 лет назад

      Dominique Chehlaoui Hi Dominique!Honestly, I have had a lot of people say the same thing about me!
      Just follow your heart and do what you believe is right for you.
      Any skills you can learn will make you more confident... so yes... learn as much as you can :)
      I hope this helps love!!
