    Ive wanted a tutorial like this for years. Thanks so much for taking the time to create it! Ive personally only drawn dogs for most of my drawing hobby, but for a long time ive wanted to draw cats. Thankfully cats are simialr to dogs in shapes, but i still have yet to have the confidence to go into a full study of cats.
    Also i totally agree with what you said about tracing. I wish there wasnt such a stigma, because tracing can be a good way to learn. When your learning something new you can use all the help you could get! (Personally the stigma discourages me from drawing and that sucks) so hopefully someday people will be nicer on others who trace ^^;

    You could've also added that you should try and make the same pattern on the cat if you are drawing it on a different canvas (ex: I have a made up cat and she has a spot on her ear and middle of her torso so I try and keep those the same shape and same spot!
    EDIT: I saw you're Fur Patterns vid and it was REALLY helpful, though It'd be really cool if you continued this series of tutorials, this really helped and I find the way I draw cats really good now this has upped my confidence and has helped me continue to draw

    I'm not an expert at drawing or anything like that, but as someone who has been drawing for the course of over ten years as a hobby and plans on making a living out of it, here are some things I highly recommend you try to do:
    *1. Learn anatomy:* as mentioned in this video, learning actual anatomy can be extremely helpful! I've struggled with this for the longest time (and still do), but when actually putting effort into it and comparing doing the same drawing with and without anatomic guidance you'll notice the differences. It might be tough at first, but you'll get it.
    *2. Practice at what you're bad at:* I've always considered the answer "just practice" for when someone asks "how'd you get so good at drawing?" shallow and unhelpful. What has helped me is break down what I know I'm bad at drawing or struggle with the most and practicing that specifically. For example, if you struggle drawing backgrounds, practice that for a week. If you're not sure how, there's plenty of tutorials here on RUclips and other platforms! Dedication is key.
    *3. Don't push yourself:* I know sometimes you may feel as if you're not doing right, or that what you're doing isn't good enough. Trust me, it is. The sole fact that you're persistant and trying to do something over and over again until you're happy with it is already good enough. Don't push yourself into making every drawing a masterpiece, just focus on having fun while learning a bit each day. You'll get there, I promise.
    *4. Have a routine:* a bunch of experienced artists will tell you that having a drawing routine will help improvement, and it really does! And by that, I mean taking at least 10 minutes of your day every single day to draw one thing per day. It doesn't need to be a finished piece, can be a simple sketch or doodle too. That together with the idea of practing a different thing each week will help you a lot (e.g. using 20 minutes of your day each day for a week to sketch dynamic fighting poses. By day 7, you'll notice improvement from day 1).
    *Thanks for reading! Hope those were helpful tips. :)*

    What are some art programs you recommend? {Preferably tor beginners, or some that are easy to understand :D}
    Also- is it possible to draw well on a phone- or should I use a laptop/get a drawing tablet or smth like that??

    • @vixelzzz
      @vixelzzz  2 года назад +1

      For phones, Ibis Paint!
      I started with a mouse and ms paint, then moved to using Gimp, then a moved to using a drawing tablet and computer with Paint Tool SAI.
      Fire alpaca is also a reccomend program

    Question about referencing for cat breeds. I wanna do Graystripe and Silverstream, but I keep trying to bounce between long-haired breeds I know, because I don't know what breed he's actually based on to look at. What was he based on when he was created? I visualize Hamalayan, but I don't really know if that's correct. And I'm not sure which short-haired cat Silverstream is based on, either. Thus why I'm always looking at music vids of them others have done or looking up google images of them.

    This was the most helpful tutorial I’ve ever seen, I’m just getting back into drawing animals after straying away from them for years and the middle schooler in me still craves warriors. How would you draw a really fluffy cat without making them look like an undefined blob? Particularly cats that have a lot of long fur on the stomach, because that’s the one thing that’s driving me mad
