The problem with the toph screenshot is her bending style. Toph does not just levitate rocks, she punches or kicks them out of the ground. Her bending style is very connected to the ground to reflect how she has to be connected to the ground in order to "see". If sure were to float rocks like that, they would immediately become invisible to her.

Panty & Stocking was honestly a genius choice from a meta perspective. The artstyle changes mid episodes, their outfits change all the time, they have inconsistent outlines and sometimes colors, crazy expressions, and the animation style warps the characters bodies for exaggerated movement so a screenshot with strange dimensions could still be real. If your drawings look even close to the actual show then any minor mistakes or oversights dont even matter.

I was sure I had rememebered it, and that's what would explain Chowder looking slightly off, BUT I TOO WAS BAMBOOZLED! The "off" part I think is that the black lines aren't thick enough, so he feels a little bulbous? Mung's face is the absolute highlight though, it is near perfect!

There is a technical reason why the second screenshot looks a bit of. In the video you said you wanted to replicate the handprints style on the rocks, but you may forgot that objects that are animated in cartoons and not part of the background are usually drawn with less detail and simpler shading because they have to be drawn several times wich would take a long time if they are handpainted ;) As for the panty and stocking screen shot the question was how they archived the line thickness variation. My guess would be vector art since this show is very clean and vector art can be automated( In terms of how lines look) or edited in post. To not sound to negative, I think you all did fantastic jobs they all looked very convincing ~

The avatar screenshot was obvious for me. Not because of any technical reason, but because of framing. It looked like something from a manga, since I can’t imagine how they’d capture the motion for both a background AND foreground character without one feeling out of place.
As a HUGE Avatar The Last Airbender fan, I immediately spotted the fake one. I just didn't trust those thick lines, and Toph's expression wasn't quite right, though Sokka's face is well made. (Overall, the whole fake screenshot was absolutely beautiful, so if I didn't watch this series multiple times, I would believe It was legit) ❤Love your art❤

The ones that fooled me were Panty & Stocking and Mickey Mouse. The Doremi was very close to fooling me, but I saw how the background was different for the first one compared to the other 2.
With the avatar one I got it right away. I even knew the episodes. First one: is Blind Bandit. 2nd: is Fire bending masters. And third is fake. With the addition that although avatar dose has some anime reaction faces, it dosnt tend to be that extreme/used in that way much. That avatar gesser game really got me preped. I was only going off of what I was sure I'd seen in the show (I watched a TON of chowder, my brother and I love that show) and I was still wrong. You've implanted a false memory in my brain of an episode that doesn't exist
For the last one I knew it was Cosmo, because of small Minor Details, Cosmo's Crown is the same size as Wanda's, and they both have the same black thickness, but Cosmos Crown has too much thick black color, and another detail is Cosmo's wing, if you look at Cosmo's Wing that Outer Rim color is bluish green, Wanda's is baby blue, but in the show they have the same exact color wings, so that's how I knew Cosmo was the hand drawn one.

Wowza these were all so good. I got every one correct exept the first Chowder screenshot. I even thought that its weird that in the first picture Chowder's hat has 4 lumps on one of it sides rather than 3 lumps like in every other picture but I still guessed 2 because it was so sus. The burgers that were on fire emmited a shadow, that makes no sense. Anyway amazing video and I want to see more :)
Im happy I got the first chowder one! What gave it away for me was the chains in the background. They felt too dark and popped out too much for being in the background. Amazing skills on all side!

@@KingLuigi27 Oh my gosh, I've beaten the first and second one God knows how many times, but I've never gotten to play the third one, or Psychic Spectors, and i want to SO BAD. I also can't and haven't played Yokai Watch five cause I only know a little bit of Japanese.
At first the Cosmo one seems legit but then I realised it actually had many differences. The curvature of the mouth is very iconic with FOP and cosmo’s mouth was less curved that wanda and Timmy, the shoulder is also different, the crown is smoother less spiky, the finger lines are angled while the real ones are straight. His teeth is also angled lines while real ones are straight. Overall he looks amazing and only when you nitpick can you spot the differences :D
27:40 I knew number 2 had the "proportion looks different" but it looked like when they change proportions specifically for a scene, so I choosed number 1 because I seriously don't remember Mickey with that expression
The yokai watch, chowder, and the avatar ones I got right away I could tell the proportion were a bit off. It surprised me that I saw through them right away I didn't even know if I was going to be right or not. But I can say they are all amazing artists coming from someone who draws a lot and grew up watching different kinds/styles of cartoons and animated shows and movies. The rest it was a bit hard for me to tell they were that good especially since I never watched them.
8:54 Funnily enough, her being in that outift was the exact reason why I knew it was fake. The time where she was in that outfit was only during their stay in the fire nation IIRC, and I knew that there was never any kind of lave around where they were staying, let alone a big fight like that in a cave! You would have gotten me otherwise, I assumed it was a melonlord scene at first but the outift was what did it for me.

Always pay attention to the lineart and the quality of the pictures to tell the difference. The chowder one was easy to spot because the lineart was much more cleaner compared to the other two images
I have been binging the Avatar series for the past week and knew instantly that number 3 was fake. I remember the Blind Bandit episode which is where screenshot 1 was from. Screenshot 2 was from Firebending Masters which I finished yesterday. You did good with the artstyle. I do have a question for you. Do you consider Avatar an anime? This is a very controversial topic and I'd love to know the reason for your answer.
the word itself literally means animation so an anime is anything that is animation. avatar is just an american "anime" or if your usage of anime strictly means japanese anime then its not an anime.
@@reginaphalange8636 I use the Merriam Webster dictionary meaning for anime which is "a style of animation originating in Japan characterized by stark colorful graphics depicting vibrant characters in action-filled plots often with fantastic or futuristic themes" and Avatar definitely uses an artsyle common with a few non-mainstream anime in Japan so I classify it as an anime. It fits the bar for pretty much everything on that list. But yes, anime is just the word for animation in Japan.

As a certified Chowder fan, I immediately knew the context to image 2 & 3.
The avatar screenshot was obvious for me. Not because of any technical reason, but because of framing. It looked like something from a manga, since I can’t imagine how they’d capture the motion for both a background AND foreground character without one feeling out of place.

As a HUGE Avatar The Last Airbender fan, I immediately spotted the fake one. I just didn't trust those thick lines, and Toph's expression wasn't quite right, though Sokka's face is well made. (Overall, the whole fake screenshot was absolutely beautiful, so if I didn't watch this series multiple times, I would believe It was legit)

2:01 I haven’t seen the answer yet but I’m with Marikyuun on the background blur since I’m not sure if cartoonists do that. A blurred background in a cartoon without being from a 1st person perspective would seem odd.

I only got the avatar one because i know the show too well. if they had gone for a real scene in the show then it wouldn't have been so easy. but amazing work everyone! Also can i Say how the animators failed in Fairly odd parents.... tummys room has never looked over the balcony has it? xD
The ones that fooled me were Panty & Stocking and Mickey Mouse. The Doremi was very close to fooling me, but I saw how the background was different for the first one compared to the other 2.
With the avatar one I got it right away. I even knew the episodes. First one: is Blind Bandit. 2nd: is Fire bending masters. And third is fake. With the addition that although avatar dose has some anime reaction faces, it dosnt tend to be that extreme/used in that way much.
That avatar gesser game really got me preped.

I was only going off of what I was sure I'd seen in the show (I watched a TON of chowder, my brother and I love that show) and I was still wrong. You've implanted a false memory in my brain of an episode that doesn't exist
For the last one I knew it was Cosmo, because of small Minor Details, Cosmo's Crown is the same size as Wanda's, and they both have the same black thickness, but Cosmos Crown has too much thick black color, and another detail is Cosmo's wing, if you look at Cosmo's Wing that Outer Rim color is bluish green, Wanda's is baby blue, but in the show they have the same exact color wings,
so that's how I knew Cosmo was the hand drawn one.
How do you know this? And how did you see those small details? I could barely see it.
Also how long does it take you to figure this out?

I think that’s how I know, he puts too much effort into making it look like the style to the point where it doesn’t look right, even though it mimics it perfectly.

Wowza these were all so good. I got every one correct exept the first Chowder screenshot. I even thought that its weird that in the first picture Chowder's hat has 4 lumps on one of it sides rather than 3 lumps like in every other picture but I still guessed 2 because it was so sus. The burgers that were on fire emmited a shadow, that makes no sense. Anyway amazing video and I want to see more :)
Im happy I got the first chowder one! What gave it away for me was the chains in the background. They felt too dark and popped out too much for being in the background. Amazing skills on all side!

At first the Cosmo one seems legit but then I realised it actually had many differences. The curvature of the mouth is very iconic with FOP and cosmo’s mouth was less curved that wanda and Timmy, the shoulder is also different, the crown is smoother less spiky, the finger lines are angled while the real ones are straight. His teeth is also angled lines while real ones are straight. Overall he looks amazing and only when you nitpick can you spot the differences :D
27:40 I knew number 2 had the "proportion looks different" but it looked like when they change proportions specifically for a scene, so I choosed number 1 because I seriously don't remember Mickey with that expression
The yokai watch, chowder, and the avatar ones I got right away I could tell the proportion were a bit off. It surprised me that I saw through them right away I didn't even know if I was going to be right or not. But I can say they are all amazing artists coming from someone who draws a lot and grew up watching different kinds/styles of cartoons and animated shows and movies. The rest it was a bit hard for me to tell they were that good especially since I never watched them.

8:54 Funnily enough, her being in that outift was the exact reason why I knew it was fake. The time where she was in that outfit was only during their stay in the fire nation IIRC, and I knew that there was never any kind of lave around where they were staying, let alone a big fight like that in a cave! You would have gotten me otherwise, I assumed it was a melonlord scene at first but the outift was what did it for me.

Didn't count how much I got right but...I think I got two? Mainly from the last artist, the cartoon cow and cosmo with the banana. Not sure about the others.
I was playing along guessing, and the only reason I got Harry's fake Mickey screenshot right is because I had already watched the other two shorts so I new they were real haha (also I'm surprised I managed to guess all the fake screenshots correctly, yay!)
Always pay attention to the lineart and the quality of the pictures to tell the difference.
The chowder one was easy to spot because the lineart was much more cleaner compared to the other two images
I have been binging the Avatar series for the past week and knew instantly that number 3 was fake. I remember the Blind Bandit episode which is where screenshot 1 was from. Screenshot 2 was from Firebending Masters which I finished yesterday. You did good with the artstyle. I do have a question for you. Do you consider Avatar an anime? This is a very controversial topic and I'd love to know the reason for your answer.
the word itself literally means animation so an anime is anything that is animation. avatar is just an american "anime" or if your usage of anime strictly means japanese anime then its not an anime.
@@reginaphalange8636 I use the Merriam Webster dictionary meaning for anime which is "a style of animation originating in Japan characterized by stark colorful graphics depicting vibrant characters in action-filled plots often with fantastic or futuristic themes" and Avatar definitely uses an artsyle common with a few non-mainstream anime in Japan so I classify it as an anime. It fits the bar for pretty much everything on that list. But yes, anime is just the word for animation in Japan.
Be me, I rewatch Avatar about twice yearly, so I knew the names of the episodes for the real images. The second specifically comes from my favorite episode, The Firebending Masters.
on the screenshots of avatar the last airbender I knew that the third one was fake because I had never seen it in the series
For the avatar one, it was the floating rocks that gave the Toph screenshot away, any animator would know why.
