Paul Rogers is my favorite rock n roll singer of all time. He doesn't showcase all his vocal talent in this song but did exactly what was needed to make it great.
My favorite Bad Co. song. As much for the story as the music. The way that popularity is such a fleeting thing but in the long run can be eternal. "If you listen to the wind you can still hear him play". Chills every time!
Don’t forget that at the time this was written recording contracts were often so one-sided that writing hit songs didn’t move you to the “big time”, financially speaking.
So how about a theme day... Songs about being in a band:. Lynyrd Skynyrd -Workin for MCA, Pink Floyd - Have a Cigar, The Byrd's - So You Want to be a Rock and Roll Star, Moody Blues - I'm just a Singer in a Rock and Roll Band....
I bought this album on vinyl and have always felt that Bad Company don't get the recognition they deserve, but then the sheer volume of creativity that was coming out of the US and UK was phenomenal, so much terrific music gets overlooked.
My first reaction to this was when i was a pre-teen, and hearing from my older brother that this was the song they played at his friend's funeral, who died of leukemia at 17, because it was his favorite song. It's been one of my favorite songs ever since, because it's so great, and so true.
After hundreds of listenings to this one, I still can't make it through it without tears. It's not just the lyrics. This one is more than the sum of its parts in the way it evokes my emotion.
Paul Rodgers is one of the best voices in all of rock music. From his first group Free, with their hit All Right Now (there is an official live version of this song. Absolutely epic!). I saw his second band, Bad Company in 1976 at the San Diego Sports Arena. The best concert I ever saw. The crowd went insane, and they had to do 3 more ohn curs! Later band The Firm, he was approached to be lead singer of Deep Purple and Black Sabath. He did replace Freddie Mercury in Queen. John Mellencamp called Rodgers "the best rock singer ever"
I remember I used to know every word to this song back in the 70s. Great storytelling. Most shooting stars come from nothing, and this is one example of it.

Another good video guys, but may I suggest more of The Eagles and Billy Joel. You have barely touched the Eagles ("One Of These Nights", "Heartache Tonight", "Life In The Fast Lane", "Take It To The Limit (Live 1977) and "Lyin' Eyes" just to name a few). Billy Joel "You May Be Right", "Honesty", "Only The Good Die Young" and "Say Goodbye To Hollywood" are all essentials as well. Cheers
I hope it's not just me,when I say It makes me sad all of the artists dying too soon over the years. From Buddy Holly to Kurt Cobain on up; how much more music could we have had from them. I'll just say love y'all still& RIP.
I love Bad Company. Pure rock voice from Rodgers.
This is such a great song that everyone can sing along to.....the lyrics are so easy, smooth and clear....the beat.....Priceless...the story....tragic. A wonderful gem by a legendary band.
Paul Rodgers, probably a top 5 voice to ever grace the rock & roll genre and imo the guy who invented swagger on stage & on vinyl. Also a helluva nice man
Symbolic to a shooting star that burns hot and fast and fades away quick
Paul Rodgers has a brilliant voice and was also the voice of the band Free previously with numbers like Wishing Well, Alright Now and My Brother Jake!
Shooting Stars burn out and the world will only love you while you are a shooting star. The song is a cautionary tale.
Along the same theme, I'll recommend Foreigner's JUKE BOX HERO, and Cat Stevens' POP STAR. I always liked Bad Company's SILVER, BLUE AND GOLD.
After all of the greats have fallen to time, their spirits live on in their music. If you have the time to listen you can still hear them all. How many times have you thought that you heard gentle music come from smoke from a campfire? All of their songs live on inside us.
When I was in the Navy (1974-1978 this was one of my favorite bands
How naturally great is Paul Roger's voice
This is my favorite Bad Company song, hands down.
Paul Rogers is my favorite rock n roll singer of all time. He doesn't showcase all his vocal talent in this song but did exactly what was needed to make it great.
Mine too....agreed!!
You two should have your own TV sitcom. Love your facial expressions Robert.
Good stuff!! Led Zeppelin actually signed them to their label. Need to do Can’t Get Enough of Your Love and The song Bad Company!!
One of my all time favorite bands.
You need to do Rock N Roll Fantasy
Simon Kirke’s drumming was always spot on.
Try “Rock and Roll Fantasy”. You will know you’re in for something special after the first couple of notes of the guitar intro.
A tremendous band talented musically and vocally. This song to me is one of the best story songs maybe in the top 5

Played this song probably more than a thousand times back in the day! Sad, but beautiful... Great band and lead singer Paul Rodgers was awesome!
After hundreds of listenings to this one, I still can't make it through it without tears. It's not just the lyrics. This one is more than the sum of its parts in the way it evokes my emotion.
Everyone was so talented and LOVED to play their instruments. Listen to the guitar leads... soooo tasty, so expressive, he makes it talk!
Shooting Star because they are short lived. :)
So many of my favorite artists died at a young age! This song always plays to my heart.
One of the best rock n roll voices
One of my favorites. Paul Rodgers is the best damn vocalist in classic rock history.
Total masters of their craft. This song has every element in spades.
I remember I used to know every word to this song back in the 70s. Great storytelling. Most shooting stars come from nothing, and this is one example of it.
BadCo one of my favorite 70s bands... I never missed their concert tours
Bad Co was one of my favorite bands in High school.... check out their song, Silver, Blue & Gold... Loved Paul Rogers vocals starting from his days with the band Free... All right now fame
This song tells the lives of so many artists, Jimi, Janis and SRV are just a few
Happy Father's Day Jay! Hope you have been having a good Father's Day with your loved ones my brother!
Yes! Awesome choice off one of the best albums in rock and roll history, by the best band in rock and roll history 🤘 Next one off this album has to be All Down the Line. Great vocals, great Keith Richards riff, slide guitar and a mean horn section at the crescendo. Like a freight train barreling down the tracks!
All right my babies.... I've seen Bad Company live in concert a few times, and I got to say every time they play this song, it brings teardrops in my eyes. Paul Rodgers' vocals are incredible! 😎👍🏼
You two are awesome with your reactions. Sometimes, in fact a lot of times, you point out things I don't even notice & then I have to re listen to the songs & it's so true!! It makes the music that much more enjoyable even though the music is so great!!
I was lucky enough to see Bad Company in concert a couple of times back in the day. They were an awesome live group. My favorite song is “Seagull” 👵🏼❤️✌🏼😎
My favorite Bad Company song!!!
