Easy BMW e60 CCC constant reboot fix

  • CCC has been rebooting on the BMW logo for 6 months. I have tried all sorts of fixes on youtube and hundreds of websites but none seemed to work.
For some reason I didn't believe My CCC was toast.
Reluctantly, I decided to buy a used CCC unit. I got it, installed it and everything worked fine. But then it had the power knob missing, so I decided to remove the front panel and replace it with mine from the old CCC. Then the new CCC went nuts rebooting on its own just like the old CCC did.
AND THAT'S WHEN I REALIZED THAT THE FRONT PANEL WAS THE PROBLEM ALL ALONG.
I reinstalled my old CCC and swapped the front plates with that from the new CCC and MY OLD CCC came back to life.
I hope this video helps someone save a buck or two and a lot of stress as I didn't see any video covering this possibility, hence my decision to make this.

Yo! I thought it was the HDD, swapped out for an SSD and same, it kept rebooting at the BMW logo. I took it apart again and while tinkering I decided to test it disassembled and behold everything worked flawlessly, disconnecting the face plate fixed my issues too. I guess I got an SSD out of the investment, now it boots up faster. Your video did confirm my theory, thanks!

I have a 2005 545i and I am getting this same thing where the idrive will cut on and off repeatedly however, sometimes it will eventually stay on and work for hours. You have a nasty battery drain and need to find out what's draining the battery. You need to run a drain test. There are videos on youtube that treat this issue. Dealers and lazy mechanics will recommend changing everything but the problem will still persist. Basically, you need a multimeter and spanners to loosen battery terminal for your test. That's all. It's an easy test. Don't spend anymore money until you identify the exact cause of the parasitic drain from your test. Good luck.

You should check fb marketplace, or a junkyard or find someone with a bad ccc. You can also try changing the ribbon cable that connects the faceplate to the ccc. That's usually the culprit. Sometimes if you press the faceplate in a little, especially around the eject button, the ccc might become responsive.

@@ss5corpion900 Sometimes, it wont need reprog. Especially if you get same type, but buying the whole thing is just a waste of money. I still have not sold the one I bought, it's just money tied down. Do not waste money. Go on FB and look for some accidented car for scrap.

@@ss5corpion900 if panels are not same, then it's different. There's MASK, there's MASK II, there's CCC and then CIC, then there's EVO/NBT. Check pictures online for comparison and know which one is yours. The stock one may have been changed along the line so checking by year isn't advisable. I've seen multiple times where say a 2009 e60 had MASK II as replacement.
