Hello watching this video I have noticed that my board is slightly different from the one you are currently working on. I have an 07 335xi with the CCC unit but doesn't have the ram chip that you took off the board towards the start of the video and it doesnt have the chip that you first reflowed. Plus when you flip the board over to reflow the 6 chips on the back my isn't in that lay out. My car was one of the first ones off the floor in 07 so the BMW may have used a different one. Is there any way you could point me in the direction which ones to reflow? I'm boot looping with lines on the left hand side of the screen sometimes. So pretty sure reflowing will do the trick just need to know witch ones to reflow. Thanks, Justin, McGee
thanks for watching is the loop only on the screen or the sound also cuts out? if its only the screen, then you should check the cable that connects the unit to the screen,( the one looking like a small scart plug...i have seen those fail quite often. if its the all unit, then reflow the components even if its not on the same layout it is still the same procedure. good luck

Hello, I was doing the repair and the fiber optic connector to the circuit board broke. Any thoughts on repairing the plastic piece that holds it tight. So frustrating. Will that make the screen dead?
thanks for watching. that has happened to me also and i put the cable in place and held it in there with some hot glue and when i tested the unit i used some silicone to make it more secure. good luck
Interesting. My CCC unit is drawing 1.2 amps when the car is off. I pulled fuse number 37 (glove box) and current draw went down to 20 milliamps. Apparently fuse 37 powers the CCC unit only. Do you have any fix for that? Thanks in advance
Hi, I had a boot loop issue and after trying to reflow just like you had shown in the video and reconnecting it to a car it worked for a few boots but now it is stuck on bmw logo (not rebooting but on all the time). Could it be because I did reflowing incorrectly or maybe there is another problem? Thank you in advance
thanks for watching in many situations you get away with a solder iron but in this case the contacts you want to reflux are under the processor so there is no way to access those without hot air gun. good luck
Hi there, great video. I have a 2006 530i and the CCC tries to boot up, then the screen flickers white for 1 second, then goes black. It continues to do this without starting. The idrive control spins freely, and I’ve lost audible sounds from parking sensors. I’m going to try the fix, but I have a question. Can the fibre optic cable be the problem too? Can it be repaired? I’m in Canada and don’t know if any local stores sell the same flux you used, and also would like a recommendation on the heat gun type Thanks
Thanks for watching The fibre optic cable is not the problem...your problem is exactly the same that i had here... Be really carefull disconnecting the optic cables from the inside to avoid melting them while you perform the repair.
I was told that rebot problem are caused by faulty capacitors 3x 3300nF and 1x 1000nF . They are advertised on e- bay as rapair kit for that problem. Can you advised me what they are for ? Best regards
Going to do this at the weekend, great tutorial, is there value in removing the chip to ensure good contacts or is that a layer of complexity thats usually unnecessary ?
thanks for watching I have a shop however this not an international type of work because of the prices of shipping and the time involved, its is not worth it.
Is the time you heated it in the video enough for the fix? I did the procedure in sync with your video, upon installation my screen only flashes in one color now. Before it was restarting and showing vertical lines.
Thanks for watching. Yes its possible to get a new CCC and i have never seen a screen fail...its either the CCC or the cable between the CCC and the screen( rare)
So I did as you suggested and it worked but started to reboot and flicker as the weather became warmer outside. Seems to be too hot in the radio bay … when it gets cold at might or over night it works fine but as soon as outside weather warms up … that’s it! Would there be any replacement I can buy aftermarket or is there anyone who I could send the motherboard too for a more permanent repair that is not so expensive ????
Hi. How can i plug in the FAN into the CCC unit? I have a facelift small 6.5 mask2 in my car =small ccc, and i have bought a big screen and new ccc unit for it. My car doesnt have the wiring for the fan, where can i buy it or how to do it?
thanks for watching you can feed the fan directly to the unit ground and the positive to a swithed positive and thats it. it will turn on as soon as your power your radio on and keep everything cool and it will last longer that way. good luck
Hi, I have x5 2009 ccc, recently got the Chinese android 10.25in screen. I think it shorted the ccc video card or lvds cable. Everything works expect nothing on screen. Some say the video card on ccc i shorted, others say its the lvds cable. Any help pls? How can i fix it? Are u in US?
Iam in Europe. If everything still works in could be the LVDS cable... thats easy to try, just get another cable from the scrap yard and pull everything out and just test it before you route the cable in..
Hi, My CCC doesn’t work at all - only a little flash of white every so often. The cd / dvd make noise at the same time. Does this sound like a problem your fix would solve? Also the I drive controller spins freely Is this normal when it’s not working I purchased car like this! Thanks
Thanks for watching With a multimeter just need to find the ground in the radio connector in the back and the switched 12v+ to feed the fan when you turn on the car...
Thanks for watching. I think your car is no longer a E series but a F series so i believe that your unit is not the same as this one...i am not sure because i didnt get one of these units here in my shop yet, as soon as i do i will try and fix it and will post a video on it.

Please can you help me to find ou what's causing that. Thank you!
thanks for watching that car does not have CCC but CIC. if i had to guess i would point to the main unit CIC because that is what get the input from the buttons to change channel and also the main unit is the responsible to wake the screen. i never had that situation here in my shop so i really cant help you at this point but as soon as something like that comes my way i will post a video on that. good luck
Hi, this video is very helpful. However the CCC on my E87 is only working 60% of the time and the rest is frozen to the BMW logo. Is this the only possible problem it can have or there is some other potential issues that won't be fixed with this method? Thanks you.
This is the most common problem that i have encountered in these CCC But you can check if the fan in the back of the radio is working if not try to wire it to a switched feed to make it run everytime you turn the radio on.
Nice to see Werner Herzog doing DYI tutorials. A week after spending good money on body work and a detail job to make it look brand new, my '06 iDrive screen went blank with the white flash every half minute. I can't tell you how excited I just got finding this video. While I've resurrected a dead MacBook Pro and LG TV by "baking" their logic boards in my oven, I don't have flux, a heat gun, your vice grip, or a contactless thermometer (I do have a hair dryer), to attempt this. What are your thoughts on placing the logic board on cardboard and baking it in the oven at 350F for about 10 minutes? Thank you in advanced!
thanks for watching the hoven option i think is kind of risky because the board is double sided and while youre fixing one side the other side is desoldering and also it has to be leveled. i guess you should get the tools or get someone who has the tools. I never tried the hoven method iam just saying what i think what the risks are and cant say if it will work or not. good luck. by the way i dont know who is Werner Herzog

Hello. So i got a problem i did everything like in this guide but idrive not booting up at all now i can hear cd rom working but no visuals. Where i could mess up? Could be optic cable because i glue it in place?
Great video. Thank you for your effort. I had the problem with the constant restarting of the device. With your help, I was able to fix the issue. Finally, I always have a picture. However, I noticed that my FM, AM, CD, and AUX are grayed out and not selectable. In response to a comment from a viewer, you wrote that it might be the optical cable. So, I opened the device again and checked the cables, but all without success. What else could I do?
Thanks for the interesting how to. My screen has lost its red colour, so something broken with RGB circuit? I replaced the screen with a brand new OEM Sharp and it didn’t solve it. You say you been doing this for a while - have you seen colour failures, if so do you know which component I could try reflowing or some other suggestion? Thanks.
Thanks for watching. The only one i have seen with color problems was related to the cable connecting the main unit to the screen, but everything image related is on the reflow that is in this video. Good luck

Thanks you my friend for sharing this

I'm also interested in running the fan with key on. There are 3 wires black, red and yellow. Which one should get the key on power?
I used the red and black to make it run always in full power.

Hi, I'd like to try this, how high did you set the hot air gun? At how many degrees? Thanks in advance about your answer
Thanks,
Justin, McGee
thanks for watching
is the loop only on the screen or the sound also cuts out?
if its only the screen, then you should check the cable that connects the unit to the screen,( the one looking like a small scart plug...i have seen those fail quite often.
if its the all unit, then reflow the components even if its not on the same layout it is still the same procedure.

You need to reflow it better...what happened was that some parts got good reflow but others didnt.
The problem is the same.
Hi, thank you very much for this video!
Do you think that there is no risk to heat the components at +150°C?
Thanks
No problem at all you actually have to get it a little hotter than that to allow the solder to melt, just make sure you use a good smd flux to help.
Is it necessary to have a heat air solder? Or can i carefully do it with a standard solder pen? With flux ofcourse
thanks for watching
in many situations you get away with a solder iron but in this case the contacts you want to reflux are under the processor so there is no way to access those without hot air gun.
good luck
Thank you so much, very useful video.
I’m in Canada and don’t know if any local stores sell the same flux you used, and also would like a recommendation on the heat gun type
Thanks
Thanks for watching
The fibre optic cable is not the problem...your problem is exactly the same that i had here...
Be really carefull disconnecting the optic cables from the inside to avoid melting them while you perform the repair.
The best heatgun type is any that have temp control or adjustment...any ( smd flux ) will work if it is clean free even better...good luck
I was told that rebot problem are caused by faulty capacitors 3x 3300nF and 1x 1000nF .
They are advertised on e- bay as rapair kit for that problem.
Can you advised me what they are for ?
Best regards
It could be that also but thats on the power source board and its easily tested.
I never found one with a problem there.
If I were to replace the whole circuit board to one I found in a junkyard would I still have to get the ccc recoded?
Thanks for watching.
It depends on what amp you have and the donnor car has, if it matches, then you dont need to recode it.
Going to do this at the weekend, great tutorial, is there value in removing the chip to ensure good contacts or is that a layer of complexity thats usually unnecessary ?
Mine is in constant boot loop. Keeps booting up to the bmw logo and shutting down. Will these same chips be the root problem?
Yes thats it
Sir on this CIC when we dont have GPS signal is from which electronic circuit it can be please ? (cable and antenna are good is from the CIC)
Thanks for watching.
I havent done a CIC yet although i have one in the shop now but still didnt touch it yet.
could you fit a small heat sink to the bga chip?
I dont think it will fit under the cover but if it does it would be a good idea
Great video, can't seem to find what you're using. Is it an electrical circuit repair adhesive or would any glue work
There is no glue involved that is liquid flux for smd reflow...it helps to melt everything with a bit lower temp.
Hello
do you except to fix the CCC Navi ? if you have a shop as i assume please refer it to us
thanks
thanks for watching
I have a shop however this not an international type of work because of the prices of shipping and the time involved, its is not worth it.
Is the time you heated it in the video enough for the fix?
I did the procedure in sync with your video, upon installation my screen only flashes in one color now. Before it was restarting and showing vertical lines.
Yes its enough...but it depends on the temp you are using and also make sure that you dont heat one place to much and not enough on another side.
Also make sure you use a good flux that is very important....
Is it possible to get a new CCC unit , and how can I know if the problem is with the display unit. how can i test.
Thanks for watching.
Yes its possible to get a new CCC and i have never seen a screen fail...its either the CCC or the cable between the CCC and the screen( rare)
My ccc unit is different in my e70 i dont have the same chips so what do i heat up?
So I did as you suggested and it worked but started to reboot and flicker as the weather became warmer outside. Seems to be too hot in the radio bay … when it gets cold at might or over night it works fine but as soon as outside weather warms up … that’s it! Would there be any replacement I can buy aftermarket or is there anyone who I could send the motherboard too for a more permanent repair that is not so expensive ????
You need to reflow it better...
And also make the coolling fan work all the time as the radio turns on, that way the radio stays cooler.
Thank you, it has worked:))))
Great job my friend

Hi. How can i plug in the FAN into the CCC unit? I have a facelift small 6.5 mask2 in my car =small ccc, and i have bought a big screen and new ccc unit for it. My car doesnt have the wiring for the fan, where can i buy it or how to do it?

you can feed the fan directly to the unit ground and the positive to a swithed positive and thats it.
it will turn on as soon as your power your radio on and keep everything cool and it will last longer that way.

How about disconnecting and removing the cd and dvd drives altogether?
Hi, I have x5 2009 ccc, recently got the Chinese android 10.25in screen. I think it shorted the ccc video card or lvds cable. Everything works expect nothing on screen. Some say the video card on ccc i shorted, others say its the lvds cable. Any help pls? How can i fix it? Are u in US?
Iam in Europe.
If everything still works in could be the LVDS cable... thats easy to try, just get another cable from the scrap yard and pull everything out and just test it before you route the cable in..
Hello do you have any reason if the ccc takes elektric currents if the car is closed?

Hello I have a 2014 328i with the CIC head unit, it’s constantly rebooting. Do you think this fix will work ?

Please can you help me to find ou what's causing that.

that car does not have CCC but CIC.
if i had to guess i would point to the main unit CIC because that is what get the input from the buttons to change channel and also the main unit is the responsible to wake the screen.
i never had that situation here in my shop so i really cant help you at this point but as soon as something like that comes my way i will post a video on that.

Great video, thanks for sharing, you are a genius ! Is the Flux from Rothenberger DIN EN 29454.1, 3.1.1.A also good for this work ?
Does this works also when no sound coming from speakers? Had a fault code from ccc unit

i believe in your case it could be the amp in the trunk, but check all the fuses related first.

Hi, this video is very helpful. However the CCC on my E87 is only working 60% of the time and the rest is frozen to the BMW logo. Is this the only possible problem it can have or there is some other potential issues that won't be fixed with this method? Thanks you.
This is the most common problem that i have encountered in these CCC
But you can check if the fan in the back of the radio is working if not try to wire it to a switched feed to make it run everytime you turn the radio on.
Thank you in advanced!
thanks for watching
the hoven option i think is kind of risky because the board is double sided and while youre fixing one side the other side is desoldering and also it has to be leveled.
i guess you should get the tools or get someone who has the tools.
I never tried the hoven method iam just saying what i think what the risks are and cant say if it will work or not.
good luck.
by the way i dont know who is Werner Herzog

the fan uses 12 volts since we want it to run in full power and the wires are the red and the brown.

The flux is to help the heat spread evenly.
