My nose is often plugged, and I realize it has improved by reducing my acid reflux. My acid reflux always came when I became bloated so as a result I'm now working on my diet to eliminate the gas. Funny how the body is all connected.
if you are still out there? I recommend you eliminate all corn from your diet...I had terrible sinuses for 50 years, eliminated corn, all the stuff you describe went away
Been doing Kundalini yoga which is really intense in different types of nasal breathing. Raised to "Fletcherize" which is chew 60x. That's a lot, so "eat what you drink, drink what you eat". Some friends can't wrap their minds around what that even means. Oh well.

I am 62 started using mouth tape 4 month ago. For few days it was little struggle and felt unnatural but then all of the sudden my nose opened up and its wide open now. Also during the day I keep my mouth close and only breath slowly through my nose...it frets completely natural and working the way it was designed...

Having watched this interview, I tried taping my mouth last night. My partner said that my breathing was the quietest she had ever heard, and I didn't wake up with a horrendously dry mouth.

Diagnosed with 'severe' sleep apnea and have been using a PAP machine. I use a nasal mask, the N20 from RESMED. Unfortunately, I also open my mouth when I sleep, and this allows the pressurized air to escape from my open mouth. So, I have had to use 3M NexCare white 'water resistant' tape to seal my lips. This works very well, and whoda thunk it would fall into step so nicely to what is being discussed here?

Coincidence? I think not! From what the math shows, our lungs are exchanging molecules at a constant rate. Fascinating!
When I found out I had sleep apnea I had to learn to sleep with my mouth closed and Breathe through my nose only to use the nasal mask. It took a conscious effort but I was able to do it and now it’s a habit I do it without thinking about it. It’s definitely possible to teach yourself to change as weird as it feels initially
So you don’t need a cpap now? I use a c collar to keep my mouth closed at night but I’m not pulling enough air through my nose to get restful sleep and I wake up extremely puffy
I discovered the root canal performed on my #9 front tooth became very infected, but, no pain. A bad cyst developed in the bone and toxic gliotoxins and thioethers were being released into my body compromising my immune system. As soon as the tooth was removed and the infection resolved my sinuses opened up! I didn't even realize the root canal infection was causing inflammation in my sinuses which inhibited nose breathing. Just FYI.

You can actually do exercises to strengthen your throat and muscles in your mouth. Look up exercises for sleep apenia and snoring. Also tongue placement Is important.
I have question. I do 12mins Dr Joe Dispenza breathwork and it's actually longer hold inhale through nose... but since it's long I'm confuse should I exhale through nose or it's ok through mouth? Also, I do short wim hop technique but it's fast inhaling and exhaling... should I also do exhale them through nose as well?

#1 way to take deeper breaths is to fully empty your lungs. Most people have shallow exhales and don’t access the natural effortless vacuum for the in-breath.
Grow some cajones and tell the truth. I can't stand when people say half truths and then continue to support false narratives. Integrity is more important than your status.
This is one of the good ones. I keep coming back to watch it. I am breathing through my nose so much that I feel like my nose is opening up more. I have that thing where my nostrils switch which side is useable. Before watching this deep breathing made me lightheaded. Somehow it just clicked. Alot of people say to hold the breathe but i prefer to just give a long exhale.

If people get healthy there will be better productivity, and more people to share the work load. It would be better for everyone. We could choose wether to increase or decrease our consumption. Of course government economics is always tied to having a problem, so they want to keep the problem around. They want to keep us alive, but in need of help all the time. Of course I'm not talking about individuals, but the machinery.

@12:30 yes we've tested the oxygen levels with or without the mask on. The oxygen stays the same but the heart beat goes up by about 10 beats per minute. So the body has to adapt to lower levels of oxygen by increasing the heart beats. I also don't believe a mask should be worn for more than 30 minutes at a time as the amount of bacteria in it starts to drastically increase from all the humidity it gradually builds up.
I loved hearing this conversation! I've been very interested to learn if there are natural ways to stop grinding my teeth at night. I don't like sleeping with a plastic guard in my mouth, but it's the only thing that seems to work.
I want to know if there is any correlation between fixing your teeth with braces and poor breathing pattern. We know that bad teeth can cause breathing disorders but what if the opposite can also happen. I think that is my current situation.
@@geegee_509 unfortunately extractions are an outdated practice within dentistry/orthodontics . I’d recommend seeing a neuromuscular dentist for an opinion. They have a focus on airway and further training. The problem with the traditional methods is it moves your mandible backwards into Centric relation, restricting the airway and compressing the tmj joint, whereas neuromuscular dentists believe in moving the jaw forward and opening up the airway without extractions, and improving your facial profile as well.
Mike a question please...Why is it that Dr Westman ( who only gives information that has true evidence to back it up) says we do not need anything marketed as “Keto”? I do believe many products are opportunistic as people get the wrong idea about what is eating well and natural on a Keto plan. You say MTC oil (which is a manufactured product) is something Keto eaters need, and yet where in the wild if we didn’t live where coconuts grow... would we get it?
If any science ( specially old culture sciences) is preventive with regard to health, it will always have minimal dissemination. Why would anyone in the medical community recommend something that prevents medication or surgery? The other problem is that we are used to breathing lessons linked to short term exercise. Slow breathing and lesser breaths per minute extend longevity. So if changing breathing is repositioned as an “ anti aging” treatment, this will be adopted faster
Just be sure not to use too strong of a tape in the beginning as there is an adjustment period and it takes time for your nose to open its airways to accomodate nose breathing during sleep.
May be a good idea to ask your doctor. I tried taping and woke up to rip the tape off because I was suffocating. When I told my doctor about it, he got very upset and said, "Never do that again!" I had no desire to because of the lack of oxygen. His reaction confirmed my feeling.
I am on minute 13 and so far i heard that masks don't reduce oxigen intake but increases CO2 and it is presented as somethibg totally ok. Really?!!? I hope he corrects this nonsense later on.

So, why does our body naturally go to breathing through the mouth? If breathing through the mouth is pretty much default for most people... how can it be wrong?
What about those of us with a severely deviated septum and I can’t say for sure how much it’s affecting me but my breathing through my nose feels very labored. Although I don’t get any sinus infections or any stuffiness really it just feels like the passageways are narrowed.
As per my understanding, your physique can change over time. This is true for ever part of the body. Of course, we all have different starting points, so I can't say that it's right for you. But a nice example I heard is of killer whales in captivity; they always have a fin that hangs to one side. This is because there is no central control or any programming for exactly how most cells in the body should shape itself. The cell reacts to input and reshaped itself. When the cells in the whales fin lack the constant resistance they have in their natural environment with the whale swimming in all directions against different currents, they just don't know what shape to take, and one side gets elongated and the other shortened. The lack of resistance amplifies the tendency over time. The same is true for average cell in our body. It is also why humans develop hunchbacks, often don't have room for the teeth in our mouth, etc. Again, there is also just built in limitations to each of us, so figure out where you are and do the best with what you have with this knowledge. Breathing is important, but so are many other movements we do. Wearing regular shoes all the time can lead to all kinds of trouble as well, such as knee, back and neck pain, eventually developing into serious stiffness, and then joint problems, etc. We need a paradigm shift in how we view movement and the feedback loop it gives our cells. Hope this helps.
@@MortenBendiksen Additionally, all the cells in our bodies are dying off and being replaced constantly, some faster, some slower. I asked a naturopath recently what cells were the slowest to turn over and she said bone cells, they take about 7 years to be replaced. So basically, every 7 years, every cell in our bodies has been replaced with a new version, only affected by base genetic programming, which includes some limits due to aging. For example, an 80 year old who has never been healthy could not reasonably expect at 87 years, after finally and completely embracing new health and lifestyle changes, to become like a 10 yr old ballerina. There *are* limits to the number of cell turnovers and their quality. But we can CERTAINLY do better, and we are much more elastic than most people think.
Im from eastern washington (spokane) and i cant find any doctors in my area who understand the ketogenic diet. Can you recommend any who do virtual appointments? Preferably in washington. What other options do i have. They all want you on statins if your total cholesterol is over 200 and its not worth me breath to argue. I avoid the dr and havent had bloodwork in a couple years now

Yup a tiny piece of paper tape goes a long way. I always sleep deeper and feel much more rested if I tape my mouth at night.

If people get healthy there will be better productivity, and more people to share the work load. It would be better for everyone. We could choose wether to increase or decrease our consumption. Of course government economics is always tied to having a problem, so they want to keep the problem around. They want to keep us alive, but in need of help all the time. Of course I'm not talking about individuals, but the machinery.

Do research, i highly recommend Anthony Williams books... He goes DEEP into this topic and why eggs are very bad and feeds many chronic diseases. Blessings 👐🏻✨

@12:30 yes we've tested the oxygen levels with or without the mask on. The oxygen stays the same but the heart beat goes up by about 10 beats per minute. So the body has to adapt to lower levels of oxygen by increasing the heart beats.
I also don't believe a mask should be worn for more than 30 minutes at a time as the amount of bacteria in it starts to drastically increase from all the humidity it gradually builds up.

I loved hearing this conversation! I've been very interested to learn if there are natural ways to stop grinding my teeth at night. I don't like sleeping with a plastic guard in my mouth, but it's the only thing that seems to work.

I want to know if there is any correlation between fixing your teeth with braces and poor breathing pattern.
We know that bad teeth can cause breathing disorders but what if the opposite can also happen.
I think that is my current situation.
Poor breathing, bad facial structure and bad teeth are all branches of the same tree, so, probably yes
It could reduce your airway, especially with extractions
Move your jaw forward all the way, and see if it opens up airway. Try to snore with jaw forward, it’s harder to do
@@antibacterial6079 😟 i actually have 2 extractions. Currently have implants but no crowns yet. I didn’t know that could be an issue for breathing.
@@geegee_509 unfortunately extractions are an outdated practice within dentistry/orthodontics . I’d recommend seeing a neuromuscular dentist for an opinion. They have a focus on airway and further training. The problem with the traditional methods is it moves your mandible backwards into Centric relation, restricting the airway and compressing the tmj joint, whereas neuromuscular dentists believe in moving the jaw forward and opening up the airway without extractions, and improving your facial profile as well.
Mike a question please...Why is it that Dr Westman ( who only gives information that has true evidence to back it up) says we do not need anything marketed as “Keto”? I do believe many products are opportunistic as people get the wrong idea about what is eating well and natural on a Keto plan. You say MTC oil (which is a manufactured product) is something Keto eaters need, and yet where in the wild if we didn’t live where coconuts grow... would we get it?
If any science ( specially old culture sciences) is preventive with regard to health, it will always have minimal dissemination. Why would anyone in the medical community recommend something that prevents medication or surgery? The other problem is that we are used to breathing lessons linked to short term exercise. Slow breathing and lesser breaths per minute extend longevity. So if changing breathing is repositioned as an “ anti aging” treatment, this will be adopted faster
Are those with sleep apnea safe taping their mouth also?
Its safer than living with sleep apnea and mouth breathing for what should be the most regenerative 8 hours of your day.
Just be sure not to use too strong of a tape in the beginning as there is an adjustment period and it takes time for your nose to open its airways to accomodate nose breathing during sleep.
May be a good idea to ask your doctor. I tried taping and woke up to rip the tape off because I was suffocating. When I told my doctor about it, he got very upset and said, "Never do that again!" I had no desire to because of the lack of oxygen. His reaction confirmed my feeling.
I breathe through my nose, when I sleep, because I don't like to drool. Glad I made the more health efficient choice lol.
How to build lungevity?
My baseball coach always told us to breath through the nose and out the mouth.
I am on minute 13 and so far i heard that masks don't reduce oxigen intake but increases CO2 and it is presented as somethibg totally ok. Really?!!? I hope he corrects this nonsense later on.

So, why does our body naturally go to breathing through the mouth? If breathing through the mouth is pretty much default for most people... how can it be wrong?
What about those of us with a severely deviated septum and I can’t say for sure how much it’s affecting me but my breathing through my nose feels very labored. Although I don’t get any sinus infections or any stuffiness really it just feels like the passageways are narrowed.
As per my understanding, your physique can change over time. This is true for ever part of the body. Of course, we all have different starting points, so I can't say that it's right for you. But a nice example I heard is of killer whales in captivity; they always have a fin that hangs to one side. This is because there is no central control or any programming for exactly how most cells in the body should shape itself. The cell reacts to input and reshaped itself. When the cells in the whales fin lack the constant resistance they have in their natural environment with the whale swimming in all directions against different currents, they just don't know what shape to take, and one side gets elongated and the other shortened. The lack of resistance amplifies the tendency over time. The same is true for average cell in our body. It is also why humans develop hunchbacks, often don't have room for the teeth in our mouth, etc. Again, there is also just built in limitations to each of us, so figure out where you are and do the best with what you have with this knowledge. Breathing is important, but so are many other movements we do. Wearing regular shoes all the time can lead to all kinds of trouble as well, such as knee, back and neck pain, eventually developing into serious stiffness, and then joint problems, etc. We need a paradigm shift in how we view movement and the feedback loop it gives our cells. Hope this helps.
@@MortenBendiksen Additionally, all the cells in our bodies are dying off and being replaced constantly, some faster, some slower. I asked a naturopath recently what cells were the slowest to turn over and she said bone cells, they take about 7 years to be replaced. So basically, every 7 years, every cell in our bodies has been replaced with a new version, only affected by base genetic programming, which includes some limits due to aging. For example, an 80 year old who has never been healthy could not reasonably expect at 87 years, after finally and completely embracing new health and lifestyle changes, to become like a 10 yr old ballerina. There *are* limits to the number of cell turnovers and their quality. But we can CERTAINLY do better, and we are much more elastic than most people think.
Im from eastern washington (spokane) and i cant find any doctors in my area who understand the ketogenic diet. Can you recommend any who do virtual appointments? Preferably in washington. What other options do i have. They all want you on statins if your total cholesterol is over 200 and its not worth me breath to argue. I avoid the dr and havent had bloodwork in a couple years now
