We have always enjoyed Vanguard's shows-loved it when they used to come to the Port Huron, Mi. shows-really enjoyed the "96 show with music from La Mer-and the famous Phantom of the Opera shows from the late 80s-1990!!!
@@MrBochawa they have an edgy sound that isn't really heard in any other hornline which I really like. I think they were at the very least better than BD at finals night, especially given the extremely hard book they pulled off.
@@abrahammughal7313 Kind of harkens back to that old school G bugle sound. Not at all saying I don't like it, because I do (although I'm sure it's tearing apart the guys in the corps more than they know), but competitively speaking - and we're talking about brass scores, specifically - I can understand why it doesn't place as well as other lines. The sound contributes to their identity though. In fact, Vanguard and Bloo are the most identifiable sounds in drum corps brass today, imo. Crown too, but mostly for its level of refinement and the technique of its writing, not necessarily its timbral characteristics (unless they're accenting...nobody accents like Crown). I think identity has been sorely missing in drum corps, so regardless of competition, I'm glad to see groups once again taking risks for the sake of the show and the corps, not the score.
@@thephantasticfool they’re definitely a brighter sound. I saw them in 18 and 19. They also don’t March euphs which brightens the baritone section sound a little. It’s not wrong, just different.
I agree with the comments about the brightness of their sound. Almost out of balance because the upper voices are so bright. I hear no bari/euph at all, and perhaps adequate tuba. Maybe the mic's proximity. Those mello's and trumpets can handle some businesses though. 😳
Oh shoot, I literally nearly dropped my phone because of that first impact. Headphone users, you are not ready. Great quality vid man!
“What do you want? Be it.”
Caption heads really produce some of the best quotes, holy crap.
"You create the electricity that nobody else can."
- Matt Harloff (Carolina Crown '13)
One of my faves.
Can't get enough of that closer, so beautiful
If only their design was better. Their music this year was outstanding..would have definitely placed first.
5 years later, I still can't get over the Contras in the closer.

I really enjoyed marching the Port Huron show with Glassmen in the 90s. Great venue and great crowd.
Gah damn there's just that on trumpet that is like literally so close to blasting and that's all I heard. Jeez
It's because of the mic balance. It should be set highest on bass, but it's set to level, so those top notes just BLARE.
Well, the entire line is always at the threshold, but it works for them for the most part.
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
ONE DAY I WILL MAKE IT ON MY LIFE ONE DAY
Did you get in?
This year’s the perfect opportunity lil bro
I love Andrew's conducting.
It's like crowns evil twin 😈
I love this comment u should make that your own personal quote
Yess lmaoo
Even down to the band directors, haha
Funny, it’s kinda true in 19 but in like 15, and 18 it’s the other way around
Pretty good vid man😉seriously tho- you’re awesome bro thanks for this
This year's horn line kicks last year's brass.
It's a crime that this hornline got fifth in brass
but they play out of tune af. I like the no holds barred sound, but lord it's unrefined compared to other lines.

@@MrBochawa yeah, i definitely agree with you. Vanguard is the definition of a "wall of sound" in my opinion, I can't get enough of it
@@MrBochawa I think Phantom also has a very recognizable sound, especially from like 03-15
i love you for this
Best in the business bro!
Fantastic.
meeeeellooooo!!!!!!😍
Stagger breathing seems pretty weak, love the hornline it would just be so much better with no holes in the sound...
Those mellos are louder than whole brass lines 😨😱.
GO DR. CROTTS!!!!!!!
Love the I (sustained) VI, VII, VIII, IX, VIII.
Sooooo bright...
Literally
ThePhantasticFule I have, 2019 was really bright. Just listen to their concert f compared to Crowns concert f.
ThePhantasticFule no reason to be rude and say they’re incompetent, clearly they’re doing a few things right because they took 1st in Brass

Phantom and Cavies pleaseeeeeeeeee
Hank Jamison wish I could have filmed more

😳
They don’t March euphs I believe
And people wonder how they beat crown
Scv definitely has the loudest hornline, its glorious
Crown destroyed them in Brass though. (How SCV got 5th in brass is beyond me)
4:20 for me
Anyone notice the chicken on the DM stand?
Trumpets should be offered extra credit for overhanging high notes. Crisp cut-offs are over-rated... Powerful hornline though.
hello mr chichen
How much do you love me.... awww that much😅
