I don't understand why this stuff isn't more mainstream? I don't get it. Marching band/drum corps is still like this, offshoot side interest thing not really seen by the public at large as a serious discipline/art form worthy of bigger recognition. I mean I was in marching band of course but the first time I heard a live drum corps warming up I was amazed at the spectacle I was beholding. Good grief I teared up once it was so powerful and beautiful. I thought more people need to know this exists! More people need to know that this kind of entertainment is available for them to consume and make their lives better.
Talent isn't often rewarded with fame. If this was mainstream it would be very expensive for the music industry. It's cheaper to highlight less talented "artists" that only require about 10 people to produce with little to no practice.
Yeah.. whoever that was.. man, that was just something else. I couldn't imagine that it was an issue all season, else he would probably have been chewed to shit
The whole finisher is so fun on mellophone… I was curious so about 3 years ago I sat down and learned it by ear and I was so glad cause it’s stupid fun
I love hearing these "lot" Recordings because its really the only time you really get to hear the horn line without electronic instruments drowning them out.
I really hope they add back the huge descending chord progression in the Metropolis 1927 finale (the last 20 seconds of this video) at some point, as it feels very incomplete without it. I understand they only have 18 minutes total to enter, set up, perform and exit the field; the chord progression is another 20-25 seconds.
And if you go down to where the field is and take a left you’ll find me working concessions probably giving someone a Gatorade missing half of their performance 😃
Kevin boyer Ansley, I would love to see them in Aussies however, the more I see the show the more I realize it absolutely does not fit with what they're doing visually. I truly hate to say it because I love them in an Aussie. The End.
@Dan Hurd et al...I think a lot of us “BITD Alums” would like to see them in Aussies again but I think no headwear works for this show. I am still not 100% sold on the “cricket leggings” and would prefer a more traditional pant look (perhaps with a dark maroon stripe to match the “V” in the top), but I’m not a WGI fashion consultant although I have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express a few times. Aloha from Hawaii- Morgan
I don't get why some of the players attack so hard with the tongue, I assume they are taught this way. Just as a preference I prefer softer intonation. Can really notice on this video especially from lower trumpet and some of baritones.
It’s because there are so many players that the attack has to be perfect or else it’s gonna sound completely like shit. The caveat to this is that the attack is super punchy because all of that sound is starting very loud very quickly
The bunchy crotch pant look is not flattering, especially in varying degrees of bunchyness across different body types. The tops from a distance look like old skool college frat boy sweaters. Just my opinion. Back to the drawing board for next year & hope for a cleaner snappier fresh design.
Is it just me or is it a lack of fluidity with marching individually and collectively? What is wrong with the marching in drum corps nowadays????? And these were the champeens!!!!!
@@pxrplexed3501 yeah, like critisizing uniforms makes sense, they do look like storm trooper PJs after all, but there's no way you can sweep their amazing sound under the rug

I would love to see this Live .
Boring. No one cares about tonality and intonation… but they SHOULD
my thoughts exactly
They look like storm troopers
Reminds me of the old future corps uniforms from the 90s
badass
2:57 the ''jesus christ'' is godlike haha

The Baritone Horn player at 4:06 is dreamy! Great job!

Go to 2:07 and look at that one light in the background on the right side of the screen. You're welcome.
How doesn’t this have more likes
I dont see it
@@jacobhanekamp2534 Right side of the screen in the back. The light turns on around 2:09 but I used 2:07 to kinda bookmark the spot
Holy crap
😂👍
The horn snap just before the big ballad hit will never not be extremely satisfying.
Great Sound Vanguard. It’s a winner for sure.
5:07 Those trumpets tho
I love SCV so much!!! I got to see them Last summer in Renton and I feel in love with their music and everything!!
The sheet metal in the 3rd Baritone at 1:49 actually sounded good
Bring it home Santa Clara!
CANYONS !!!!!!!!!!!! I still worship that show to this day......
Some tasty hits. They sound so much cleaner from when I first heard them in Ashland!
1:20 ...that one bari or euph oof
Theo Hornsby what is that warmup called
Theo Hornsby sticking out like a sore thumb yikes
Ikr
I thought that was a trumpet. It didn't have the tambre of a bari
Drew Comparato mello maybe. Not bright enough for a trumpet I don’t think
hey look its my head
Chris Mora I just saw this in OCTOBER
Is this really Chris Mora
no its my head
SCV SOUNDS AWESOME (HORNLINE)!
4:46 what youre here for
I like listening to the part building up to the ballad in these lots becuz you can hear all the different brass parts blending
The snap at 5:24 looks robotic!
I literally yelled "HA" lol
@@elijahhollis1957 I went "OOH"
3:44 is Troopers in the background
I remember this warmup specifically
Nah this is bk

Ive always wanted to buy a mellophone to learn to rip that ending mello part. SO sick.
do it man, it's so fun to play

Electronic instruments? Since when did they have this marching in the field? Please explain
Unknown Artist he means stuff in the front ensemble like bass pads and things

good work guys yall sound great!!
how have I never realized there aren’t trombones in scv
Hope they had a fire extinguisher close by that hor arc because that was FIRE!

I cried at 1:12 and again at 1:17.
They remind me of the clippers from Into the Badlands. 😄
Here's why they won the Ott.
anybody know the band that was in the background at 3:41? very pretty. Still love VG ballad ;)
Derek Nance Blue Knights

incredible!!

Wouldn't the look boss with black Aussie style hats!!!
Kevin boyer I think they should only wear an aussie during the B-boy Krump dance section of the show 😁

ExBuickRacer I'm not sure why that wad directed at me? Clearly my suggestion was satire. One never wears an Aussie whilst krumping

1:40
I guess corps don’t care about fidgeting or movement anymore. That shows my age but I literally got yelled at for emptying spit. Weird times for dci.
Nothing good as 4:47
is that sound from their valves?
5:51 ??????
What?
The sound is great but can we get back to normal uniforms please?.
Jeffrey Dancinger no
Thought so.

Their baris have too much edge to their sound. They always have in my opinion.
I love the SCV but those pants are hideous. They don’t fit the performers at all.
These are by design and are considered "drop crotch."
