ok but yall know that part where the baritones are doin the call and response in the ballad and then one of the baritones responds with that really sassy/jazzy/angsty umph response and the chord progression changes and it gets real lit? I dig that
yeah i tend to listen to that segment a lot . . . . comes up on you tube recommendations all the time "my body is a cage/arcade fire" . .. . I like to CRANK it
This group was apart of my first dci experience in person, I could barely watch the closer because I was in tears from the band and how good they sounded. Will forever be my favorite show
The first part of the opener which is close to the ballad in music is the most beautiful field movement I have ever seen, you have the choreography and then the props open and open again while it is on the really strong building pieces of the melody
skaynekurtis ya me too!!!! I sit back and listen to it and I can hear so many flaws but I keep listening and get blown away and forget the negative that I heard. 89 is my favorite show for SCV but this is a close 2nd if not a tie. I was 9 in 89 when I discovered DCI. I’ve seen a lot of good corps over 30 years. Don’t like all the changes sometimes but then a show like this and well.......
@@jonathant3425 No doubt. I dug the uniforms for this program... they work perfectly for the hip-hop section & visual snaps like the one leading to the finale... 11:47... Subtly cool sh*t like that is all over this show -- can't wait to see how they folo it up next season... Rose Bowl & RCC shows... a scant 6 months away (ugh)... Up Next: Paul Rennick's production of Babylon w/ the battery & pit.
Jonathan T is ironic that SCV’s 89 show has the highest scoring but still I get why you would prefer Phantom of the Opera more than this one cause that one was good
I love how while the most beautiful duet in the history of dci is happening in the background while the rest of the marchers are doing some of the hardest drill I’ve seen
Almost every movie set in the future has an identification tattoo, not exclusive to this show. This show is based on the movie Metropolis (1927) which was monumental for its time, and it portrayed what they would see in the future. We thought we would have flying cars, actually good crypto, and decent people, but we have none of those and will not happen any time soon.
@@sackofwetmice428 im pretty sure I've seen the op say the same thing on multiple videos about this show. In fact i think I've seen him in other dci shows saying the same thing
this might've been now that you said that. just have to remember what the thing looks like lol. edit: my hs was literally 5 minutes away from sportsplex. i remember going back with my hs in 17/18/19.
@@TheFirmest so, by saying you don't like the mics, does that also rule out micing the front ensemble? Cause they are working just as hard as everyone else to play their music, but need mics to be heard. And btw, all of the contras had mics.

You mean that one note that sounds like a growl kinda?
Jackson Otis ya that’s the one
Just wish the mics had picked up the first soloist better in finals.

The hit of “my body is a cage” sent CHILLS through my body, this is amazing!
Every time
The horn snap is even better at this angle!
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and guess that the 8 dislikes are from people who complain about the stadium lights being too bright.
Jamie Smith Probably some high school band mom's who think their little Timmy's high school band is better LMAO.
No more dislike button lol
@gunner 3477 surely no one is that delusional
This show is so gorgeous. I’ve seen many many shows, and SCV 2018 has to be in my top 5 ever… and those mellos kill me everytime!
My #1 for sure

If they come back this season (24) and play this show note for note, it wouldn’t hurt my feelings 😊
Agreed 100%
Well deserved win.
ya... it's December & I'm still captivated by this show... so?!?

Love this video! Glad you captured the new changes during a practice!
That toss at 11:44 is so cool. And the musical moment too. It’s all just so good.
My all-time favorite Drum Corps and show!!! 2018 SCV VANGUARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4:02 y’all can hear another horn snap 👀
8:45 that crackish sound is the horn snaps
THE CLOSERRRRRRRRR AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

7:07 ❤️ I love the ballad

Bro that siren alarm thingy… im screaming without the s
Yoooo I was watching this rehearsal!
Everyone claps for the ballad but nobody appreciates the closer or the difficulty of the opener
Masterpiece.
This show is just fucking gorgeous, like omg it was so good!!!
why aint nobody talk bout the marimbas in the beginning
it angers me that whoever filmed this seemingly avoided looking at any of the battery 😭
id give anything to see this show again!!!
8:47 wow!
Really sad they’re not touring this year
Foreshadowing of the mark of the beast. The designers knew two years before it all started.
