This song cuts pretty deep if you ever lived this way and lived to watch it come back around. Especially that small bridge and change in the mood when the lyrics start "Someday you'll be up to your knees...in the shit you seed....All the gullible that you mislead, won't be up for it" There's something about that part that makes a tear roll down at the painful realization that you became what you hated. Simultaneously you could see this in someone else, maybe you both deserve each other for what you've done in the past so to fight it would be hypocritical at best. I've done a lot of bad things in my life out of spite at what was done to me to the point where I simply didn't care anymore and believe I had the right to wrong those who wronged me, but living that way for as long as I did only hurt innocent people in the end as well as myself. Wish there was more music in a similar vein as this, it's very cathartic in a way
The lyrics are so powerful... It's crazy to find words exactly embodying and transcribing the feelings I have inside. I think there's only José González to do that..

heard this on fear the walking dead and had to look it up because it's beautiful and that scene reminded me of into the wild. and then i saw your parents are argentinian like me so i'm proud a fellow argie makes such lovely, haunting music :) congrats man.
I am here because of lovely Jo In-sung as well. Unexpected Business (episode 5). Such an enjoyable warm, charming, interesting and relatable reality show. Jo In-sung is such a delight, kind, good natured, quietly charming showing to be a well balanced and good human. No negative traits from being a big star showing at all, case in point were his generous compliments to Nam Joo- hyuk. Thank you In-sung for introducing me to Jose Gonzales's gorgeous music. I can now wrap up warm, have a hot drink, listen to "How Low" and think of beautiful In-sung in the glowingly cosy village store, which is such a lifeline for this small village, set in such wonderful South Korean countryside.
I LOVE THIS TUNE!!!! Got this on heavy rotation when i am working!!!!! It is tunes like this that made shows like Blacklist even fucking better!!!! Epic!
Si! Si! Fear The Walking Dead brought me here... Buena cancion! Well i knew it was Jose Gonzalez. Im familiar with the voice and musical style but i wasnt familiar with the song. I only have the recent albums.
Greg dulli from the band the afghan whigs turned me into this ! A million thx ! First day I listened to it 20; times and all his other material ! A gem
Tbh this song reminds me of red dead redemption as well, especially the second one with the “Your feeding a monster” and “punch line after punch line”.
The lyrics and music in this song, goddamn: "Someday, you'll be up to your knees in the shit you seed. All the gullible that you mislead, won't be up for it." Then he plays the sickest open tuning turn around into the verse. Goddamn!
How low are you willing to go Before you reach all your selfish goals Punch line after punch line Leaving us sore, leaving us sore Absorbed in your ill hustling Feeding a monster, just feeding a monster Invasion after invasion This means war, this means war Someday you'll be up to your knees In the shit you see All the gullible that you mislead Won't be up or it Where to, will you relocate Now that it's war, now that it's war
This morning war broke out in Israel…again. Throughout the day I must’ve tapped every emotional chord needed, courtesy of social media, to eventually cocktail myself into psychosis, with the denser progressing thoughts directed towards a people clearly I don’t understand, fighting over what…land and shit written in very old texts nobody really understands? Thoughts that woke the monster in my mind, the one that takes over to disguise the fact that fear is really in charge. By the end of the day, the dusky hues of the seasons’ skies whispered in my eyes that all is in balance and I should just keep enjoying the ride with the curiosity of a child, and that there is no need to succumb to gossip of political climates and darken my soul, in exchange as payment. I got home and dove into my digital sanctuary, only to realize how spiritually obtuse I must be to find solace in a ten year old series about zombies instead of meditation. Yes, that series, that’s how I got here, probably same as you. And today’s episode (obviously) helped me reflect so much on the day’s divine footnote. But then God had to go and show off, as if the epiphany’s philosophical presentation wasn’t perfect already, low and behold, it came with a soundtrack. Whoever you are, thanks for reading and riding it out with me, I don’t know you but then again I don’t really know myself either, for if tomorrow the world really turns to shit and we find ourselves arguing over land and words, with the monster at the wheel, I hope I carry the love and wisdom needed, and a song like this one, to be able to pause if just for a moment and see you for who you truly are…a reflection of my self. Peace and much love stranger.
It's really hard to shut your eyes to the horrible things in the world but how else can you find any semblance of happiness? How do other people do it? This world is always filled with so much violence and for what? If the ends justify the means, what justifies the end? It certainly weighs down the soul.
Aware this is Jose (Official) but I doubt Jose made the video or wrote the on screen lyrics ( I may be wrong of course) but I hear a few incorrect lyrics... "bleeding us all, leaving us sore" "feeding OUR monster, just feeding OUR monster" "in the shit you see" difficult to tell on this low fi compressed version, they're slight differences but have implications on over all message... also just the whole Official site being incorrect thing makes my eye twitch >.0 =P
I know this song is about mindless consumerism and wars over greed but I couldn't help but think of a relationship where the other person manipulates their partner and everyone around them. Either way this song is very poignant.

The Blacklist s08ep13 sent me here and I'm very glad!!! this song is perfect!!!
Every so often you hear a song that feels like it's written about yourself, and it hits a nerve like a hammer. Beautiful and painful song here.
I am very glad that The Blacklist brought me to this awesome song, but I am very sad for how low Elizabeth is willing to go.
Same, but you should say "spoiler alert" lest someome who isn't around S8 see this :p

This song describes interacting with a sociopath. There are many interpretations but that one definitely fits.
