He's so patient with his words and so tender, he shows that you don't need to be screaming and flashy to get a story across. Love this man and his art.
I was introduced to Jose Gonzalez from his song at the end of Secret Life of Walter Mitty. I am so glad I learned who he was. His music brings such a calm to my spirit.
Yes! It’s a true masterpiece and I almost feel sorry for people who haven’t heard it. Jose Gonzalez is one of the most talented musicians who ever existed
probably one of the most influential musicians during my 20s. Saw him live and talked to him once. I love his fingerpicking style and sweet voice and odd lyrics!
Audio engineer: Kevin Wait! As soon as that whistling started, I had to open comments to see if everyone was talking about the magnificence of the engineering work. I'd be impressed if this was recorded in a studio, but an office?!?! Unbelievable.
One of my favorite things about him that I'm only gleaning from these live performances is how he seems to radiate humility. A trait I truly do hope to register into my own spirit on a daily basis. Music like this helps to cultivate it...
This's perfect for a calm & serene morning Every age has its turn Every branch of the tree has to learn Learn to grow, find its way, Make the best of this short-lived stay
Heading out to see him in a few minutes at the Belly-up in Solana Beach, California....the day before my birthday, and what a great birthday present to myself. GOD, I love the way this guy sings....so honest, so unpretentious...like he's having a quiet, friendly conversation with you. So glad I got turned on to his music.
Increíble!! Vivo en Marruecos y me casé con la mujer más hermosa de acá y le dediqué San Lucas. Ahora la cantamos juntos emocionados de verlos en tinydesk. Felicidades hermanos.
Loved this man and his music for many years, he’s the one I introduce to others as one of my favourite musicians. He’s so humble. Greetings to all listening, from Devon
I feel he has also inserted a bit of Latin American Nuevo canto or what might be called protest music of the 60's-70's from Latin America. Silvio Rodriguez, Pablo Milanes and also a bit of Southern Cone. Victor Jara. There is a guy named Manuel Garcia from Chile. His look reminds me of him.
I love his music so much! I found him through a studio concert uploaded by KEXP. Thanks to NPR. This makes me proud to say I support my local NPR station.
I know of Jose because I fell in love with his song on the Red Dead Redemption Soundtrack (So Far Away), and I feel stupid that it took me this long to further explore and appreciate his work.
This is good, very good in fact, but Kings of convenience come much closer to reaching the bar set by Simon and Garfunkel. However both still fall short of the sheer genius of Simon and Garfunkel

I hear a lot of cat stevens/folk dylan/csny. I like the mellow travis picking and alternate tunings as well...all the open chords give a nice fullness.
I first heard him through his music with Zero 7. I saw Junip live about a year ago. His new music is wonderful. Very calm as the description mentioned, a little minimalist.

You obviously don't know Bill Callahan yet then? x
“Beautiful things don’t ask for attention” ;)
It's easy when you have an attentive audience. It's a lot harder when you're talking to people in general who tend to interrupt and not pay attention.
He's from my lovely town of Gothenburg in Sweden, and I have the pleasure of bumping into him occasionally. He is amazing
Been wanting to visit there for a long time!!
First time I heard him was with a swedish band called "Niccokick". This was ike 10 years ago... Crazy!
💛💕
lucky you :)
I thought he was from Latin America???colombia?
his voice is like a reminder that there is still something good in this world.
I was introduced to Jose Gonzalez from his song at the end of Secret Life of Walter Mitty. I am so glad I learned who he was. His music brings such a calm to my spirit.
after hearing this i feel like sailing around the tip of Patagonia and hiking a mountain, watching the sunset over a fire and finding peace in nature.

His voice is like a soothing drive down a country road...brisk fall air...and slowly falling leaves.
idk why but this brought tears to my eyes
I really, really love this. It's like Paul Simon and Wes Anderson started a band.
COMMENT OF THE YEAR =)
I love both of them but i dont really get it.. care to explain..? James Wallace
Bayu Wikranta it’s a way of saying it’s like indie folk
as a child in the early 1970s, Jose Gonzalez is the folk music in my dreams of that time.
Was lucky enough to see José and Sia performing together with Zero 7 in 2006 on their tour for The Garden album. That was pretty amazing.

Can you explain why this is awesome? I have no knowledge in sound engineering haha
There's something about woodwinds in Jose Gonzalez accompaniments that just destroy me. Always so haunting. He's the greatest.
It’s awesome whenever he implements percussion in his songs too! That moment for me was in What Will 👏🏾
One of my favorite things about him that I'm only gleaning from these live performances is how he seems to radiate humility. A trait I truly do hope to register into my own spirit on a daily basis.
Music like this helps to cultivate it...
Yes! That’s what I love about him as well, seen him live a couple of times and he is always like that
His music is soothing, perfectly made reminding us to always slow down, appreciate and live each moment we have on earth. I love you, Jose!
what an artist. his accompanying musicians can't help but feel the emotion in his songs.

‘Every age’ is such a powerful song. So true. Brilliant.
Truly beautiful, yet unassuming. Like tiptoeing in the darkness without waking up the heavy sleepers.
My favourite musician and singer
so good. I picture them riding away slowly....still singing softly while pedaling a hand carved bicycle built for two.
Wow I was entranced from the first moment. Thank you NPR for introducing me to yet another great artist.
Gitai Vinshtok Yea he's awesome. If you like his stuff, check out his other band "Junip". You will not be disappointed :D
Amazing when you discover something so new and refreshing
If you like him DEFINITELY listen to heartbeats and crosses. His two beat songs by far.
nick arndt Open Book and New Age are also perfect.

Omg exactly! My HS band had a Phillip Glass show for competition one year and we made it to state with that show. Great musical score.
