Estoy trabajando y escuchando a José Gonzáles desde muy lejos..... Bolivia. Gracias por tu música. Working and hearing José Gonzáles from far away.... Bolivia, Thank you for your lovely music!
@@RossaRoniVan Being mostly an instrumentalist, I haven’t focused on lyrical songwriting after a certain Michael Hedges passed away. José reminded me of him, with the depth of certain ‘70s-era lyricists. Thank you. I shall seek him out.
An expressive and impressive journey, performed with marvelous sound engineering, Kalle Gustafsson Jerneholm at Svenska Grammofonstudion! Thank you José González and KEXP!
I discovered the song 'El Invento' two days ago and it has been on a quiet, calming loop in my head ever since. Not sure why I just woke up in the middle of the night, but this song immediately started playing in my head. And in listening to various live versions of it, I found KEXP Home! I wasn't aware of the 'Home' versions. Thank you to all the awesome people who help make them happen. Long live KEXP y que viva la música siempre. Saludos desde Canadá.
Since “the secret life of walter mitty” was announced in stores, i followed and will do it, jeá, for ever Jose 🔮 😉 . You got so many rythm’s in your music ! - Really ! 🙌
Wow what a "Pleasent Surprise" @ 4:17am on a Tuesday🌃. I get out of a long hot 🧂🛁 make a 🫖 of tea & find this delightful fellow José & his 🎶 in my recommendations. Nice one RUclips & KEXP...I toast my ☕ to this new musical discovery this September morning...."prima🙂"
I keep returning to this performance, and especially por El Invento, and I think it has to be the fact that it feels so authentically rooted in his... inspirations and upbringing? I forget where he spoke on it, but he mentioned that he grew up listening to artists like Mercedes Sosa and Silvio Rodriguez, and in El Invento, you can absolutely feel the inspiration bleeding into the guitar, from how he plays it to the lyrics that bounce off. It's been something so admirable and amazing to hear, especially as a latino who got into his music looooong ago when he had Far Away in Red Dead.
I love almost everything about it. I love the sweet happy positivity but when he said "forget your miracles" and "forget your god" it just twinged it with bitterness.
I do value the interviewer and interview. It's just I've been mesmerized by that first song, and so the time marker gives me an easy starting point as I fumble with my own guitar.
He has definitely been at least studying Buddhism and is probably practicing it. The terminology is straight from Buddhist texts (sentient beings). The El Invento video is obviously meditation influenced too with some Eugenio Montejo references (great Venezuelan poet).
Americans, PLEASE learn to pronounce a common name like José or Juan. NO, it is NOT 'hosay' and 'one'! LISTEN on Forvo. Not learning ANY foreign language does not exempt you from respecting PEOPLE. Right on, absolutely. Right on, hosay.
It worries me that you let small things effect you so much. We all know who he's talking about and we all like the music. Let's just be happy with that. Everyone has room for growth. It's going to be ok ; )
i agree with the third line of your strange poem "Not learning ANY foreign language does not exempt you from respecting PEOPLE." (were you trying to make a Haiku?). But the reality on the ground in America is different. many of us have spanish speaking friends, partners, suegros, coworkers, bosses, mentors etc. and while your overall sentiment is correct, it would be super awkward to correctly annunciate everyone's name every single time. same for our Indian and Chinese friends etc. it would sound like inappropriate over-pronunciation here. like you're trying too hard. i guess you just have to be here
Sufjan Stevens, José Gonzalez and Nick Drake are the best things that happened in my life.
Oh my gosh I love them too.

Such a delivery. Such a cadence. Such a groove.
Amazing performance Jose. Thank you KEXP.

Finally! A genuine songsmith and performer reminiscent of the times when music was ART, not business. May you live long and succeed. Am a fan now.
He's been making amazing music for 20 years. If you haven't already please check out his early material.

I love Jose. He has an amazing spirit that comes out both in his music and when he speaks.
The voice hooked me at the first song, then the playing kept me
José has such distinct style of strumming the guitar.
As distinguishable as his angelic voice.

que lindo escucharlo cantar en castellano

Amazing creativity from José !
Wonderful
I'm so thankful for Walter Mitty for introducing me to Junip, through which I eventually found Jose's music. It's one of my favourite movies too.
His peaceful mind is contagious.
Awesome, right on Jose!
This is sweeeeet 😊
Grande José! Obrigado KEXP!
This sounds great! Such a pure sound, delivering the good vibes I need to make it through this work day. Thank you!

Great session, thanks for that!

Truely, a genius

He’s just wonderful!
Why do I suddenly have an urge to buy some desert boots
Wow does he capture that Nick Drake feel.
Absolutely!!
A hint of Robbie Basho in there too
Such a great session....gracias Jose!
Interesante y muy melodico.
I loved this guy's From the Basement performance, it's nice to see he's getting appreciation here too.
i mean he's an international star of 15+ years so of course he's going to get media coverage.....dude has 4M monthly listeners on spotify alone
I met jose in basement series, last year.
Nice, Invento. Melodic.
Should do more Spanish.
❤️
In El Invento he sounds a little bit like Silvio Rodríguez🙌🙌🙌
Definitly
So much! He does in many of his older songs as well, even in English. :) Qué hermosura.
Swing: I call this, progresive Folk. Wow
Anybody know the musician Manuel Garcia from Chile?
I love it, right on! 🤡
Less talk. More music.

I'd loved to hear the red dead redemption song he made
gorgeous song
Is José, a buddhist? The choice of words in his lyrics gives me an inkling of that.
If I’m not wrong he’s an atheist actually
He has definitely been at least studying Buddhism and is probably practicing it. The terminology is straight from Buddhist texts (sentient beings). The El Invento video is obviously meditation influenced too with some Eugenio Montejo references (great Venezuelan poet).
yeah he is an atheist
El Invento gives me some Slivio Rodriguez vibes
he has said that trovadores are big deal on his influences
I swear that first song was 20 minutes long.

I listened on Forvo, as you demanded, and it is indeed "hosay." Maybe you should give it a try?

Try having some people from Sri Lanka or Qatar pronounce your name.
