Genius. There is just something about this tune that stirs me, moves me, zens me, cools me, quiets me, appeases me. Heard it 100s of time for many years now. Can’t explain it. It’s magical!
@@danield183 I agree. Didn't he just.. I had a moment of clarity just now listening to this when I thought 'This is perfect.. Sunny day, day off, sun shining, gentle tunes.. oh yes..'
_People are "cycling trivialities," just caught in the loop of existence, but most of them are too blind and self-possessed to notice it. All of those things in our lives we see as important, our dreams and ambitions, beauty, humor, self-growth, comes down to cycles of water, carbon, nitrogen, sulfur, and phosphorous. And then González just keeps playing through the guitar loop over and over and you sit there, stunned._
Yup. That's what I was just doing. Thinking to myself "what the fu k, I just got outta work and wanted to put on some relaxing music" Here I am getting all introspective thinking about the beauty of the world. But yeah, a healthy cry
I don't know if José added this little detail on purpose, but at 3:40 when he is repeating 'cycling trivialities', he does so every two bars, and there's 7 beats rest in between. It kind of feels like a week cycling over and over, mundane, trivial, repetitive, but always bookended by the realisation that it is so - that we need to change and correct how we are living. And yet the next week plays out always the same as the last.
Also when he repeats the riff for the last 2 minutes, and closes the "cycle" with just the high notes, and ends peacefully.. just like life (for most people at least)
Dentro del caos mundial y la incertidumbre que habita hoy en Argentina y en mi ser... Esta canción me relaja y a la vez me hace llorar, pero es un llanto rico. ❤
This song is so beautiful, the feeling is indescribable. But I feel like in my lows it helps me to feel hopeful again, even when I wish I didn't. It speaks to me on an emotional level so deep, I feel like it fills me up, seeps into all the cracks and into my soul. I can feel my heart soften and open again.
I feel as though I could have dinner with anybody in this comment section and hit it off. Everbody so moved by this great piece of art would surely have some great stories to tell and wonderful recommendation for art, music, travel and life in general. simply beautiful music
I've listened to this guy's music for years now and it's always got me through tough times, his pieces are of immeasurable beauty. I love your comment for I feel the same way, everyone's special in their own way, but if you listen to this legend, you're just that little bit extra in my eyes!. thanks.
This Stuff always reminds me to stay humble. Working in a fast paced career orientated office environment is like pure poison to the mind. This music helps taking a step back at the end of the day and focus on family instead of work. Sometimes it is really hard to not focus on things as acquiring a fancy car because your neighbour has one or comparing your success in Office to the success of your co-worker but josè helps me to understand that it is all "cycling through trivialites" and while collegues get divorced or need treatment over burn out or depression I can focus on the important things in life. At least what truly is important to me. Thanks a lot of that Jose !!!
When I was younger I always wanted to own a Mercedes Benz or Audi, but as I've gotten older I've realised I wouldn't be any more happier with owning one. Once you buy something you like or wanted, the "buzz" feeling eventually fades away.
Cycling trivialities; aka, everything that makes no sense, yet continues to loop in this world. This song is a rare one that can almost always bring my tears
Don't torture yourself trying to fit yourself through a hole that you don't fit through. It's okay - you don't have to do it if you don't want to. I know lots of people who have turned unconventional paths into fulfilling lifestyles. Some of them even own their own houses and haven't even hit 40. Don't let anybody hold you back because their own dreams were shattered. Life isn't always what you expect it to be, but it's a beautiful thing.
I listened to you in Belgrade at the Youth Center a few years ago. That was the FIRST time I heard about you and experienced wonderful melodies live. Thanks
It all seems trivial when we look at how many sentient animals lives are slaughtered on a daily basis.. and the horror they endure beforehand. What I want it to all mean, is a world and existence that values all lives' existence. Where we listen to our hearts and that flows through our actions and purchasing power. That's my dream, and many, many others' too. Beautiful song❤. I've loved it for years.
This song reminds me of the life you should and want to live. Don’t settle for the way society has programmed us to live. Don’t be prideful of your achievements, don’t judge a book by its cover, live life to its fullest and be happy. There’s too much shit going on in the world to always be wrapped up in especially when it comes to politics. Slightly depressing but can be looked at with inspiration as well.
Jose Gonzalez deserves to be regarded alongside the greatest classic acoustic and folk writers in history. Place him deservedly next to the likes of Joni Mitchell, Cat Stevens, Crosby Stills Nash/Neil Young, Bob Dylan and Sixto Rodriguez among others.
I came form rockstar red dead redemption and I’m very happy I did you have some of the best music I’ve ever heard in my entire existence and life you deserve every single view you get
Jose on the meaning "I knew I wanted to sing about when you get caught in trivialities and you can’t see past your own horizon, and basically how you can make things seem bigger and more difficult than they really are. You know Jose, I believe you should just make your own website, and sell your own MP3/AIFF/MP$/M4v digital downloads, with no need for an agent no manager no middlemen like i sell my ebooks on my websites. That's how i tick, and that's how i sell my content. And you are 100 times more famous. So I do not see why you cannot do that, except for binding contracts preventing you.

Too blind to know your best
Hurrying through the forks without regrets
Different now, every step feels like a mile
All the lights seem to flash and pass you by So how's it gonna be
When it all comes down, cycling trivialities But don't know which way to turn
Every trifle becoming big concerns
All this time you were chasing dreams
Without knowing what you wanted them to mean So how's it gonna be
When it all comes down, cycling trivialities
So how's it gonna be
When it all comes down, cycling trivialities Who cares in a hundred years from now
All your small steps, all your shitty clouds
Who cares in a hundred years from now
Who'll remember all the players
Who'll remember all the clowns So how's it gonna be
When it all comes down, cycling trivialities
So where is this leaving me
When it all comes down, cycling trivialities Cycling trivialities
Cycling trivialities
Cycling trivialities
