I love how Athena is standing before Odysseus in the flashback as her divine animal form, her presence absolutely chilling, dominating, eldritch... But Odysseus only sees his friend and lets her hold his newborn son. It's very beautiful.
ALSO, THE WAY YOU ANIMATED ZEUS GOING FULL POWER MODE AND ATHENA FIGHTING HER WAY UP THE STAIRS WAS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!! AND MEDUSA'S FACE ON THE SHIELD!? *Chef's kiss.* Absolutely remarkable!
4:15 I love how while the other gods are looking at Zeus horrified, Hera is turned away from him, looking more disappointed than anything. Almost like she knew Zeus would probably do something like this, and she can’t bear to watch. I love this animatic SO MUCH!!!
yep. Despite not being her daughter Athena is the only child of zeus that she doesn't hate for not being from her since its not a product of cheating... and she looks angry that he is doing this to her. She still can't raise her voice because he is god of all gods ofcourse but I bet she will find a child of zeus on earth to torment after they are done :D
@@Ash0-0 all of them except Zeus and Hera were siblings Edit: before anyone else says it I know Zeus and Hera are siblings, I meant that they are all each other's siblings except for Zeus and Hera who are siblings with each other but not the others
I just thought about something related to Hera's design. You explained in the community posts that in Ancient Greece married women wore a veil and the tighter it was, the wealthier the husband, which is why Hera's is so tight it gives the impression she can't even move her arms. But it also seems like she's trapped in her marriage, stuck under Zeus command and barely able to do anything because of how tight his hold on her is. That matches the myth of their marriage pretty well I'd say...
I think one of the implications in the animation is happening during her song then she throws this veil off without any difficulty aka showing how Hera actually chooses to stay with Zeus even if he is an gigantic asshole and that is she really wanted to - she would be on her way.
@@daniilbelov8652 I like how you see it/gen (I really like that interpretation but I've been trying to write this for a while now and can't find the right words to express how and why I like it)
@@daniilbelov8652 Hera would stay with Zeus no matter what. Lawful marriage is her domain, it's her core, if she left him, or cheated in revenge, or did anything at all to put that sanctity into question, she would not be Hera. Considering the greek view on male infidelity, Hera's main issue wasn't with Zeus cheating, anyways, but who he did it with. I recently stopped watching a show about greek mythology on the spot because they had Hera cheat on Zeus. 'Twas moronic.
@@Sasrael going by the actual Oddesy no. she meets up with Ody later (and some of my favorite lines between them happen then. she basically compares him favorably to the gods. while they each admit a small fraction of their errors and plot his slaughter of the suitors.) but In this continuity she might be. According to myth, when Medusa was slain by having her head cut off, the severed head was offered to Athena by the hero who killed her, since it was Athena who gave him the means to achieve the task. The goddess decided to place the monster's head on her shield, allegedly letting her use the petrifying gaze Medusa was feared for unto whoever looked into the aegis.
@@istarilightthat's not the case most of the time, aegis is just a shield with a depiction of gorgon on it, mind you the face strikes terror into the enemy but still
If I remember, one of Ares's titles was 'protector of women.' it's is nice that that protective nature is shown here. Edit: Ok, maybe this may just be me remembering a myth I read in school say 20 years ago. so forgive me if this was wrong.
I love how Athena seems trying to look brave and bold... until lightning hits and puts light to her eyes revealing horror in her eyes for what her father is about to do first she looks like ready to hold her ground... but no she is frozen in fear. also I love how aprhodite is behind Hephaestus at the end because despite loving Ares she is married to him so ofcourse she is supposed to be with her husband :D by the way... ANGER in Hephaestus face... oh my god. Once again an olympian is tormenting a child of theirs and he knows how horrible it is
@@mr.eldritch1589 I think she is disappointed to fact that once again her husband is being selfish. Her anger passed long ago and replaced with that feeling. More like "why am I not suprised"
I love how everyone makes Hephaestus just *incensed* at Zeus striking Athena. He would know better than any other Olympian what the shame and pain of being on the wrong end of a lightning bolt feels like, and to see his sister, usually one of Zeus' favorite children, get a punishment this severe would burn his hatred HOT.
I love when Athena is moving between the different 'arenas' to clash with the gods, she looks determined or ready to go. But when going to Aphrodite she just has a -_- face on like she's already tired of dealing with her.
Aphrodite was both petty in her reasoning and so nonchalant, as to not even bother with clothing for this conversation. I'd have that face too if I was trying to reason with her
I love Hera's design so much, in terms of the use of the peacock as her main animal, realiting to her groovy personality and about her dysfunctional relationship with Zeus, I love this so muchhh
I also love that she starts completely covered up, then loses all her coverings, and then her attendants gradually cover her back up throughout her verse. Reminds me of a peacock showing off its plumage before closing its tail back up again. Also fits her personality: generally reserved but prone to sudden violent outbursts.
@@dwell7315I believe the creator once stated that the way her outfit completely covers her represents how she’s feels in her relationship with Zeus, bound and forced to be reserved behind those brief rare moments she can be her true fun self
I love that you had both Aphrodite and Ares terrified of Athena when she's mad. From the stories, this actually feels more accurate and it shows how scary Athena is when actually mad. Also love the more bestial look you gave the gods.
4:20 Nice touch with the blink-and-you'll-miss it of Athena pulling out Medusa's head. At first you might think it's Athena screaming but it's only when you play it slow motion that you realize it's actually Athena flinching as she holds up Medusa's severed head, a reference to how Medusa's head is now a permanent part of Athena's personal shield Aegis
I love how you actually put Aphrodite as how history portrays her. She is famous for her nudity and most people who make animations of God Games have her in normal ‘Goddess’ outfits
@@themagicalonionfairy7455 ik, but it’s still nice to see someone having learned how famous she was for her nudity and portrayed that without going too far.
@@Kiyora_xoxo oh no, it's great i just think it does make sense to put clothes on her or at least do like hair covering her (despite it being inaccurate)
History may remember her that way but the people that paid for and commissioned a statue for Aphrodite where horrified at the naked version. Thankfully the sculptor made a clothed version as well as a backup and gave them that one. A different temple then purchased the naked version. It was quite the scandal. It’s a fascinating little art history thing because some argue that the naked one elevated her to the same status as male gods who were often naked in their statues. It also had the side effect getting his model/lover tried for blasphemy, and she’s an interesting figure herself. Personally I think if given more time she probably would have been worked into the myths herself.
@@Lethe_Nyx I mean, I didn’t mean detailed. Obviously not. But you also shouldn’t be horrified at a sculpture of woman anatomy (unless you’re young) I just liked to point out they made her now history and mythology spoke about her, nude, I get everyone has boundaries and doesn’t want to draw a nude Aphrodites and that’s totally fine! I’ve watched other God Games animatics that put Aphrodite in a ‘normal goddess’ outfit but I still love them! It’s not a big deal wether she’s nude or not, I just liked it (I’m fr just talking, not being hateful I’m really sorry if it came off that way 😭)
Love the touch that when Zeus snaps, all of the other gods look kind of startled and apprehensive other than Hera, who turns away because shes probably seen/been on the recieving end of her husband's anger dozens of times and isnt shocked that he lost his temper here
believe it or not it has been vise versa (mostly hera being pist at zues for cheating) but it she has similar, well not similar, but almost as powerful as zues, aside from his brothers obviously
I think that is supposed to help connect this version of Zeus to his mythological counterpart as at the end of the day, Zeus is king of the gods because he knows how to keep the family together, and even if he is a absolute adulterous asshole at times. He does care about his kind, something Chronos never did. It’s why as much as I Iove this musical I do think people have to know it is an adaptation of the classical myth not a one to one. It’s why Poseidon and Zeus act so out of character at times because of this was one for one interpretation of the Odyssey then it would be kind of anticlimactic by the end.
@@nightlock826 I'd argue there's no "canon" or characters to be out of. Each author at time could write gods completely differently and most myths came from ear to ear, so they could easily be changed or adapted. At the end of the day, greek myths are products of their time and mostly reflection of people's belives in past. tldr its just an ancient fanfiction its not that deep
I was confused when Zeus said, "to make me feel shame," cus I didn't see why he would be ashamed about Odysseus. But then, when listening to the song again, I thought, "That's foul" when Athena said Ody didn't cheat. She made him feel guilty about it! That's why he got mad!
Gods, the way Hera doesn't even look at Zeus when he's throwing his tantrum speaks volumes of just how freaking *done* she is with his shit, lol. I also found the way Ares was shielding his siblings and his boo with his cape really endearing for some reason, perhaps because it almost emphasizes the worry in his voice when he questions Athena's well-being. Despite their disagreements, she's still family. Also love how you drew Athena's final plea towards her father - her gently holding onto his hand while she's literally on her knees, looking absolutely WRECKED, shows Zeus that yes: to her, Odysseus really is worth the risk of going under. Absolutely phenomenal work. Well done! ❤
Ares, just like Athena, is war oriented, and for every war, you need something to fight for. For many, and apparently Ares, that is family. Even if they all hate him
the Ares thing is also because he is not evil or even that cruel. he hold the title of protector of women and is the patron god of the amazons. one of his stories is about how he risked tartuous for the sake of one of his daughters. Ares is a mommas boy, alittle soft, and does cheat with brother wife all the time, but when the chips are down he does live up the his title of the god of war.
@@bradhoefler8650 not saying for sure it’s a reason ares has such a bad rep but it is notable that a good majority of Greek myth we have comes from Athenian records who were famously opposed to Sparta, who really liked Ares
One of the few moments you can confirm if someone is a true friend, is when you know that person is smart enough to abandon you for their own survival, but does something stupid to try and help you anyways. I literally tear up at the end of this song every time because of how Athena, Goddess of Wisdom, is so desperate to help her friend, that she continues to beg the person who just brought the sky down upon her instead of doing the smart thing and conceding.
@@young_dieg0301 EXACTLY, it doesn’t help that Medusa was SA’d by Poseidon, so coming face to face with his brother the King of the gods would be horrifying

@4:36 - When you realise the opening lyrics of "Warrior of the Mind" was about this scene, and that 'My Goodbye' was her leaving because she felt she was becoming weak to by helping him.
A bit of context around my comment. In some versions of the Odysee, Ulysses does not kill Hector's son but instead drops a rock covered in blankets to fool everyone. In one version of this retelling, he gives the baby to the wet nurse to run away and hide with. In the other version, he gives the baby to Athena to hide so the gods won't know what he's done. That and what I said above is what went through my head when I saw this scene.
@@psychols2007and in another version Astynax (the baby) is used to beat Priam to death in the temple of Apollo by Neoptolomus (Achilles' son) and presumably dies there (if he wasn't already dead)
THIS WAS SO COOL??? like the silouhettes when zeus named everyone she had to convince, the hyacinths in apollo’s hair, the doves w aphrodite, ares and athena having similar helmets, hera being so much bigger than everyone else (and like athena dancing along was also a cute detail, the thunder from zeus illuminating the fear on athena’s face when the helmet masked it all, athena fighting back through all her different forms??? AUGH THIS IS BEAUTIFUL!!!
That was gorgeous! The way Zeus and Athena shifted between their various forms was so fluid and beautiful. And Athena with younger Ody and baby Telemachus 😢

Obviously he took the first option and went to war
The fact that athena was constantly changing into different forms in order to reach zeus for her final plead. her shield braking under the strain it's been put under using her own hands as shields makes that scene so epic. also a bunch of little things like ares using his cloak to protect the others. the fact we see athena's eyes not obscured by the shadows of her helmet makes her more emotionally vulnerable when she is looking at baby telemachus and taking on zeus's barage.and everything in this animatic hits just so good, and all the other parts you drew before flow into each other really well. This is my favorite god games animatic of all time.
Something that I appreciate so much is Athena doing those small jumps or movements from the force when Hera steps on the ground or lays on the ground. Physics is something that most artists miss in their animatics but something that I love so much.
Right? Whether it’s because she was at his side more than any other god when he was pissed, because she fought with him more than any other god, or just been at his mercy more than any other god…she is PAINFULLY well-acquainted with Zeus’ rages…
@@supattreewatanawong5025Hera is no match for Zeus and she knows it, none of the olympians are. The reason Zeus seems scared of Hera in some myths is that he is more scaref of the consiquinses of his actions than the one bringing the consiquinces.
4:41 There was NO NEED for you to make Odysseus look so peaceful, beautiful, soft and overall HAPPY in this frame. How dare you! 😭😭 (thank u very much i needed that)
Love how much snake imagery Athena has, it’s like she’s constantly thinking of Medusa, keeping parts close to her (like her head). That must have been a really complicated relationship.
So you actually have it a bit mixed up, the snake along with the owl are both scared animal of Athena's Medusa has snake features to show it's Athena who changed her So the snake stuff is to show athena's power, the aegis (Zeus's and Athena's Shield) is a tie to Medusa

Both Hephestus and Apollo were definitely just here to fill a quota. They put up no fight at all, just asked one question and was like "Whatever fine."
@sabertoothno34 that pretty much sums up the gods lol. Totally in character for them to be against Odysseus for a petty reason than to start on his side, since it makes them look better and more thoughtful to switch sides.
I saw a god games animatic where it was hephaestus’s section, except the idea was he wasn’t paying attention so he really didn’t)t give a fuck lmao, loved it
The way Hera looks like she's used to Zeus' behavior and anger while the others gods looks horrified hurts so much. HE IS threaten to act violently agaisnt her and abused her a lot in the myths and it's so sad. Ares' caring for Athena is also beautiful and sweet. AND THE FACT HE PROTECT ALL HIS SIBLINGS AND HIS LOVER WITH HIS CAPE! He is a protector and I'm so happpy to see it potreyed. All this animated is so good, no just looks amazing, but have so much meaning and subtext and thank you for that!
Holy peak, your Athena radiates so much personality! Her and Zeus' flip-flopping between forms was insane, not to mention your signature character acting and expressions. You absolutely outdid yourself Anna! I could not have asked for a better artist to get me into Epic.
Your take on Aphrodite is definitely my favorite so far! I love how her being nude isn’t necessarily a sexual aspect of her but rather her showing love to her own body. I just love when people use nudity in art for reasons other than sexuality 🫶🫶🫶 very good job!!
DUDE THE FLASHES AT 4:05 WHEN YOU CAN SEE ATHENAS EXPRESSION IS SO COOL, YOU CAN KIND OF SEE THE FEAR IN IN EYES BEFORE ZEUS ZAPS HER TO OBLIVION. ANNI HOW R U SO GOOD
3:43 I love how it's "He never once cheated on his wife" and boom "release him" because of course she would. Hera's also the goddess of marriage broski
I can just imagine him arguing with Zeus like “But DAD! He didn’t hurt my cows! And you already killed his friends for it! Why do I have to bother with this?”
4:15 I don’t know why, but this probably my favorite moment of the animatic. First off, the animation of her robe billowing is just beautiful, and also because we can obviously tell Hera is disappointed but resigned to Zeus’s actions. She knows that he always has it his way, even if he has to break his promises in the process.
i love how your animations put such enphasis on the gods shappeshifting into animal-like forms, like the cursed horse form from poseidon in ruthlessless, the snake form from both ares and athena, zeus eagle and bull forms, since that's such a common thing on the myths, and even though the look like these animals there's still a otherworldlines and uniqueness to each of these form fitting for the gods
Okay so once again I have OPINIONS because this is absolutely amazing. -The way Athena vanishes her weapons (and the coil of snakes!!! Omg) because she knows that to ask a favor of the King of Gods you have to humble yourself, and there's no greater humility for a goddess of war than laying down her weapons -Zeus being so unsettling from the get-go. No, he's not going to SA Athena, but he damn well is going to make her Very Uncomfortable touching her like that. And the little cloud Odysseus while he's at it. Sir. -The colored introduction of the god silhouettes with all the little details -Apollo!!! Ohhhffgfs. Radiant and young and feminine and beautiful in every measure of the word, carelessly graceful in his movements, as befits someone with music as part of his very being; his sly little smile and the black tips to his cloak reminding you to tread with caution: he is still the god of plague, he is still the vengeful archer that will kill you for one wrong word. His expression letting Athena know that she made exactly the right argument, and the nonchalance is feigned. -Hephaestus!!! I love the body type making sense for someone who is lugging metal around all day, and the prosthetic leg!! The anger in his face when he mentions trust, as someone betrayed by both his wife and his biological mother. The motion of going to cut the chain, as though leaving Odysseus to his own devices, and Athena snatching the blade right out of his hands to keep talking; he looks more resigned than anything, he's just tired of everyone's antics. -Aphrodite's body type. Aphrodite's BODY TYPE!! The generous curves and the fact that she even has ROLLS!! The carelessness with her own nudity; in her own domain, why should the embodiment of beauty bother covering herself? Her nudity is not shameful, and it is not weak: it is power. The seashell bed in the middle of a little lake is such a great detail, and the doves. I adore the disgust on her face when Athena keeps trying to appeal to her; she's made her stance clear, go away. The expressions for both of them making it clear that they haven't been exactly on good terms since the golden apple debacle... The way she drapes herself over Athena to make her uncomfortable too, my house my rules, the harshness of her decision contrasted with the beauty of her face, and the extreme fluidity of her movements in the dark, a goddess born of the sky and seafoam... -Athena's shock that Ares went to find her and not the other way around, and at the fact that he can interrupt Quick-Thought -The detail of Ares hiding his face until his helmet is on, we can't let people know that the god of war is just as baby-faced as Apollo, and the fact that you somehow made him expressive despite that -Both gods of war wearing similar helmets, concealing their faces the same way, showing the same eyes!! And yet at the same time, the difference: Athena the strategist has a pristine helmet, looks brand-new, while Ares the warrior, with his hotter temper, has one that's scuffed and battered, the feathers all broken, the dent above the eye he almost lost. They are and aren't the same, at the same time. -Ares's personal offence here, that Odysseus's cowardice (as he sees it) cost lives, the way he's running circles around Athena with that terrifying fluidity that once again matches aspects of her, shifting and shifting to throw those failures in her face. But he's only able to do that while he's telling the truth, or something that could be close to it. Because Athena pounces and wins when he attributes that cowardice and weakness to Telemachus, and not just because that's her friend; it's because it's not true. That boy jumped into a fight with no training, with an opponent twice his age and twice his size, and 107 onlookers cheering for the other guy. He's exactly the kind of person Ares is (when he's not being vilified) and Athena pounces on that, on that crack, that mistake, with the colors around them reflecting that she's back in power, and wipes the floor with him. -Love Aphrodite's little surprised face here, like she thought Athena was done with her because of Ares; how Athena's animalistic aspects crawl out from under her armor, making them both recoil, as though when she mentions "bloodshed" these two are going to be part of it. -LOVE the detail of Ares shielding Aphrodite. In many animatics he hides behind her, and that's funny, but this fits him better. Of course the patron of the Amazons, the defender of women, the god who risked eternal punishment to kill his daughter's attacker, would shield his lover with his body. It's not even a question, for him. -Hera's sheer size, her freedom of movement, the peacock feathers and cow horns, the way she's a goddess in her own right... Until she's once again suffocated with her veil, all of her own attributes covered up except a peek at the one that matches Zeus's, hunched over and suffocating with the weight of just being his wife instead of herself. -The iconic moment of "wtf is this" of Athena trying to dance and getting more and more awkward as Hera refuses her thrice, going from that flawless spin to woodenly trying to move her arms; her little smirk when she hits where it hurts and Hera's baleful glare in her direction, committing her one last act of defiance just as the veil is fully over her are PERFECT. -The size differences as Athena enters the court once again and the fact that Hera is standing apart from all the other gods is SUCH a good detail -Zeus's hissy fit is amazing. The angry expressions remind me of how you portrayed Saul in "Shame", which is great because they're both going in circles with their irrational arguments, if for different reasons, that amount to "BUT I AM KING AND WHAT I SAY GOES!!!" -THE! USE! OF! LIGHT!! Zeus's immense power finally bringing Athena's face to light; the bright golden contrast with Poseidon's black water while the fluidity is similar but not the same; the jagged edges of his shifting forms, from living storm to golden eagle to eldritch bull with human hands -The four first gods: Ares with his invisible face but every inch of his body language becoming protective in preparation; Apollo shocked and visibly displeased that his father would go back on his word, but still holding something like hope; Hephaestus both angered and disgusted, because he knows firsthand what both promises and blood bounds are worth in this place; Aphrodite upset, protective with the hand across her chest, her fist clenched, but knowing there's nothing she can do, just like when she was bartered, her exhaustion showing around her eyes -Hera hidden still, but not enough that her disgust and resignation aren't palpable, looking away from Zeus and from ones who still had faith. She knows him too well already, the oath-breaker... -THE SHRIEK OF THE GORGON'S FACE SURGING FROM THE SHIELD AND THE BRIEF GLIMPSE AT ATHENA'S FACE BENEATH!!! -Ares the protector once again, covering his brother and his lover and even the man who's supposed to be his rival even if he only has something as paltry as a cape, his body lending truth to the fear in his question; Apollo in complete shock that yes, Zeus did go there, even against his favorite; Hephaestus only more disgusted than before; Aphrodite terrified, sad, all rivalries forgotten. -The contrast between Athena's eldritch form and the fragility of a young mortal man, the soft smile and even more obvious fragility of a newborn and the trust placed in her rendering her human-looking to match her heart in that moment I am SCREAMING -The determination to protect, in that moment, that transposes to the present one; her black forms jagged and cut against the blinding light of her father but she keeps going, going, going; if not a shield, an owl, if not, a serpent, but she won't stop. And then herself again, even as she comes apart. -The ruined clothes, and burnt flesh, and charred hair; she looks almost mortal, under Zeus's unyielding gaze, but she gathers the last of her strength to grab his wrist and plead... -And when she falls she leaves a stain on his unblemished skin, a true sign of the gravity of what he's done. This is absolutely brilliant and stunning, and I had to watch it four times in a row to find everything I wanted to comment on, just like with Ruthlessness. I want to EAT IT, your art is incredible and the detail you put in every little thing is to die for. The beautiful drawing of Apollo in all his pretty boy glory at the end to soothe my soul after putting it through the wringer (heh) is very appreciated too xD No words left for how incredible this is 💖💖💖
Actually, the way he was touching her was fatherly. He didn't touch her in any inappropriate way, he reached out, placed his hand on her shoulder in a consoling manner and kept his hand on her shoulder as he kept talking even when he moved next to her. It was a very respectful touch, and a hint of how she was his favorite child. And the fact he then did all that pain to his favorite just makes the consoling touch even worse.

I haven't seen any comments about how cool Zeus's shapshifting from bird to bull is. It's so fantastic, especially because the color kicks in there too!
4:05 these flashes, THESE DAMN FLASHES BREAK ME. Athena trying to show a brave face but as the lighting flashes onto her face you see just how terrified she is. Her father the king of the gods is pissed, and he’s pissed at her for once making Athena feel true primal fear.
Hera's part is my favorite of this, it's so representative of how proper married women are supposed to behave in classical patriarchal cultures, concealed and veiled in public, an absolute bombshell in private with other women and her husband, since a "good wife" is supposed to appeal to her spouse as his prized possession but shun the eyes of other men. I love how her immense size indicates how she's on Zeus's level as his sister, predating Athena and the other Olympians by ages, that she's got all this incredible power tightly bound by the modesty of her station as the world's very first wife, forever subject to her husband, only free to be herself behind closed doors. Goddess of marriage, indeed. I love the symbolism and references in this animatic! There's tons more in Hera's part alone, this video is a mythological essay in visual form.
Anniflamma, you are the only animatic where we can see how Athena's reflexes are as fast as her father. Everything we see after Zeus strikes, happens in the same time frame as a lightning strike. Everything from the moment she pulls out her shield with Medusa's head until she touches Zeus's arm happens in an instant. And you, my dear Anniflamma, are the only one who could show it to us visually! You are a godsend to your followers. I just wish more people could find you and for your channel to grow. All the best and love to you!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love the concerned and disapproving expressions on the gods/goddesses when Zeus refused to accept Athena's victory! And that tiny detail of Aphrodite being back by Haphaestus' side ✨
This is the coolest thing of Zeus I've ever seen. The movement is on point and really makes me FEEL the impacts and fury of every beat of his part of the song. All the visuals were fantastic in general, but that part impressed me SO much. I wanna watch it again and again! x3
God, Athena’s face when Zeus starts getting mad, she looks terrified! Kinda reminds me of when Percy Jackson said they don’t love Zeus, they fear him which is why they stay with him. I loved this animatic, thank you for making this!
This is seriously my favorite animatic of God Games so far! Your drawings of all the gods are so detailed and interesting, the action is so creative, the animation is so smooth, and so much more. I could go on and on. Seriously, well done!
I appreciate how this depicts two symbols of Athena that I feel are underrepresented, those being that snake and the gorgon. All the little details in this is amazing
I love that each god has a slightly monstrous side to them - Zeus and Hera having horns, Ares turning into a snake, Athena growing snakes and feathers and just all the animal transformations are phenomenal The art presentation is also phenomenal, the splashes of Zeus introducing everyone, the way Athena towered over Aphrodite, Aphrodite's love censoring, Athena grabbing Ares by the collar and Hera dancing with Athena - so many great scenes, your work is amazing and I can't wait to see more from you
Just gotta be honest, the way you portray the conflict between Ares and Athena is hands down my absolute favorite. That shot when she growls “Ares!” gives me chills every single time I see it, I mean every aspect of this is amazing, but that part alone makes this my favorite God Games animatic!
I loved everything about this. The animal characteristics, Hephaestus's leg, the bird blocking Aphrodite spread legs, all the stuff. So fucking well done
i love when awesome moments in videos sync to the music and here... I love the way Athena changes her forms along with the music WHILE FACING ZEUS! It really adds so much storytelling to the song.
I love how Athena is able to reach Zeus at the end. Most animatics I've seen have her barely make it or stay in place, so it's such a neat difference. Also, your Aphrodite design is my favorite. I love your work. 💚❤

You could very much SEE the power in his strike, and how her shield wasn't gonna block it very easily if at all- AND I appreciate all your designs and characterizations!!! They have their own identity almost, while expressing the emotions of the musical so expertly! Great job!
The way you animated the Gods is breathtaking! Aside from just being animated beautifully, I love how parts of them seem like extensions of their powers, like Athena with her snakes and feathers, and ESPECIALLY Zues's man to bird to bull transformation. Chills every time
I love how you portray their expressions in the end. I’ve noticed that in many animatics, Ares is usually kind of nervous and scared but not wanting to show it, Apollo is a bit confused, Hephaestus isn’t surprised but he is disgusted, Hera is disgusted but not at all surprised, and Aphrodite is scared
The fact that is the only one that was naked was a stroke of genius. Plus, the intricate designs for each of the other gods was fantastic and in keeping with their character, the movements were so flooding gorgeous I had to rewatch this several times just to get all the Easter eggs and the final fight scene was fantastic. The fact that there was a flash of medusa‘s head changing the shifting with fantastic held little baby Odysseus and the Zeus transformation was fantastic. This is coolest ones I’ve ever seen.

I just thought about something related to Hera's design. You explained in the community posts that in Ancient Greece married women wore a veil and the tighter it was, the wealthier the husband, which is why Hera's is so tight it gives the impression she can't even move her arms. But it also seems like she's trapped in her marriage, stuck under Zeus command and barely able to do anything because of how tight his hold on her is. That matches the myth of their marriage pretty well I'd say...
Judging by the way the maids throw the cloth over her arms first, she really is constrained in her movements
Burrito Hera go brrrr
I think one of the implications in the animation is happening during her song then she throws this veil off without any difficulty aka showing how Hera actually chooses to stay with Zeus even if he is an gigantic asshole and that is she really wanted to - she would be on her way.

History may remember her that way but the people that paid for and commissioned a statue for Aphrodite where horrified at the naked version. Thankfully the sculptor made a clothed version as well as a backup and gave them that one. A different temple then purchased the naked version. It was quite the scandal.
First off, the animation of her robe billowing is just beautiful, and also because we can obviously tell Hera is disappointed but resigned to Zeus’s actions. She knows that he always has it his way, even if he has to break his promises in the process.
At the end, Athena holding baby Telemachus when the music shifts from Warrior of the Mind's motif to Legendary's is an amazing detail.
i love how your animations put such enphasis on the gods shappeshifting into animal-like forms, like the cursed horse form from poseidon in ruthlessless, the snake form from both ares and athena, zeus eagle and bull forms, since that's such a common thing on the myths, and even though the look like these animals there's still a otherworldlines and uniqueness to each of these form fitting for the gods
THEIR REACTIONS TO THIS, THE CHILDREN SCARED AND HERA ALMOST ASHAMED TO BE ZEUS' WIFE
Almost?
Changed that to definitely.
Okay so once again I have OPINIONS because this is absolutely amazing.
-The way Athena vanishes her weapons (and the coil of snakes!!! Omg) because she knows that to ask a favor of the King of Gods you have to humble yourself, and there's no greater humility for a goddess of war than laying down her weapons
-Zeus being so unsettling from the get-go. No, he's not going to SA Athena, but he damn well is going to make her Very Uncomfortable touching her like that. And the little cloud Odysseus while he's at it. Sir.
-The colored introduction of the god silhouettes with all the little details
-Apollo!!!
-Athena's shock that Ares went to find her and not the other way around, and at the fact that he can interrupt Quick-Thought
-The detail of Ares hiding his face until his helmet is on, we can't let people know that the god of war is just as baby-faced as Apollo, and the fact that you somehow made him expressive despite that
-Both gods of war wearing similar helmets, concealing their faces the same way, showing the same eyes!!
-The size differences as Athena enters the court once again and the fact that Hera is standing apart from all the other gods is SUCH a good detail
-Zeus's hissy fit is amazing. The angry expressions remind me of how you portrayed Saul in "Shame", which is great because they're both going in circles with their irrational arguments, if for different reasons, that amount to "BUT I AM KING AND WHAT I SAY GOES!!!"
-THE! USE! OF! LIGHT!! Zeus's immense power finally bringing Athena's face to light; the bright golden contrast with Poseidon's black water while the fluidity is similar but not the same; the jagged edges of his shifting forms, from living storm to golden eagle to eldritch bull with human hands
-The four first gods: Ares with his invisible face but every inch of his body language becoming protective in preparation; Apollo shocked and visibly displeased that his father would go back on his word, but still holding something like hope; Hephaestus both angered and disgusted, because he knows firsthand what both promises and blood bounds are worth in this place; Aphrodite upset, protective with the hand across her chest, her fist clenched, but knowing there's nothing she can do, just like when she was bartered, her exhaustion showing around her eyes
-Hera hidden still, but not enough that her disgust and resignation aren't palpable, looking away from Zeus and from ones who still had faith.
-The contrast between Athena's eldritch form and the fragility of a young mortal man, the soft smile and even more obvious fragility of a newborn and the trust placed in her rendering her human-looking to match her heart in that moment I am SCREAMING
-The determination to protect, in that moment, that transposes to the present one; her black forms jagged and cut against the blinding light of her father but she keeps going, going, going; if not a shield, an owl, if not, a serpent, but she won't stop.
The beautiful drawing of Apollo in all his pretty boy glory at the end to soothe my soul after putting it through the wringer (heh) is very appreciated too xD
No words left for how incredible this is 💖💖💖
All of this... 🤍
Man, I love people like this, commenting on all the little bits and details
Actually, the way he was touching her was fatherly. He didn't touch her in any inappropriate way, he reached out, placed his hand on her shoulder in a consoling manner and kept his hand on her shoulder as he kept talking even when he moved next to her. It was a very respectful touch, and a hint of how she was his favorite child. And the fact he then did all that pain to his favorite just makes the consoling touch even worse.
loved reading this!
not to mention her hand maidens' facial expressions and body movements
I scrolled through these comments for a while, and it’s nice to see that the fan base isn’t full of degenerates, the only thing I even saw about Aphrodite was a genuine comment about how they appreciated her lore accurate design as a fan of EPIC, definitely a fan base im proud to be a part of
Ares protecting the other gods with his cape was something i didn't realize i needed until now. LIKE BRO!!!!!!!!!
YO that split second frame of Athena's face as she's attacked by Zeus was horrifying at first. It really caught me off guard.
I think that wasn't her face but Medusa's head
I'm pretty sure it was her gorgon shield she has
she was holding out the head of a gorgon to shield herself
At first I thought it was her expression too, but if you play back 4:20 at 0.25 speed it's Medusa's head (said in another comment, but wanted to help)

Honestly impressed Ares could do that in the first place.
@@joshuafrazier3904 ares is a god of war yes,but also a protector
@@joshuafrazier3904I know most modern depections of Ares have him look like a idiot that only knows how to talk big, but he still the God of war, brutality, protection and honor.
I love how you use more than one of each god's sacred animal, like Zeus being both an eagle and an ox or Athena being both an owl and a snake. It really stands out! I love it!!
holy cow! This is so beautifully done!
4:04 this is one of my favorite parts, you can't tell what her expression is but then you get glimpses of her horrified eyes. I love it
This is seriously my favorite animatic of God Games so far! Your drawings of all the gods are so detailed and interesting, the action is so creative, the animation is so smooth, and so much more. I could go on and on. Seriously, well done!
Aphrodite/Ares and Hera are my favs
The way Athena changes when she's angry and the style Hera has! And I love all of Aphrodite's power poses
I appreciate how this depicts two symbols of Athena that I feel are underrepresented, those being that snake and the gorgon. All the little details in this is amazing
I love that each god has a slightly monstrous side to them - Zeus and Hera having horns, Ares turning into a snake, Athena growing snakes and feathers and just all the animal transformations are phenomenal
The art presentation is also phenomenal, the splashes of Zeus introducing everyone, the way Athena towered over Aphrodite, Aphrodite's love censoring, Athena grabbing Ares by the collar and Hera dancing with Athena - so many great scenes, your work is amazing and I can't wait to see more from you
Athena trying to use her shield to protect herself… in crying. Such an amazing detail
Just gotta be honest, the way you portray the conflict between Ares and Athena is hands down my absolute favorite. That shot when she growls “Ares!” gives me chills every single time I see it, I mean every aspect of this is amazing, but that part alone makes this my favorite God Games animatic!
Yeah! Normally Athena is on the back foot for that first part, but here SHE has the monster eyes and takes up half the screen.
Damn, that was so beautiful, also, my heart dropped with hera reaction to zeus rage, she is so accostumed yet so tired into emptiness
I loved everything about this. The animal characteristics, Hephaestus's leg, the bird blocking Aphrodite spread legs, all the stuff. So fucking well done
I STOPPED EVERYTHING I WAS DOING FOR THIS

i love when awesome moments in videos sync to the music and here...
I appreciate the wording of the warnings lmao
"She's not just nude, SHES VERY VERY NUDE"
_Idk how you managed to reach naked squared but that cracked me up_
ALSO THE LIGHTING IN ZUES' ATTACK REVEALING ATHENA'S ACTUALLY CONCE4RNED EXPRESSION,,, AND THE WAY SHE STRUGGLED AGAINST HIS ATTACK???
Listen I say that as an animation nerd moreso than a viewer alone, THAT WAS SO GOOD!!! You could very much SEE the power in his strike, and how her shield wasn't gonna block it very easily if at all-
AND I appreciate all your designs and characterizations!!! They have their own identity almost, while expressing the emotions of the musical so expertly! Great job!

I love how Aphrodite and Ares are startled at Athena's sudden firmness and anger. Kinda funny too.
I'm just here to say that I absolutely love how you mix the gods' iconic animals and other symbols in their appearances.

Wow this is amazing. I especially love how you did the Hera and Zeus scenes

Ugggghhhh the bull and swan iconography with zeus, the way you gave him bull horns that look like a laurel crown, all the snakes and doves and gosh theres just so many little details I love in this
