Rodrigo Cancino I think the MK7 version is the best, since it not only still featured the cars that moved back and forth, but you could also use the Glider when coming out of the mall. Plus, the elevators inside the mall had arrows on them, making it a bit easier to tell which one is the best to take during that specific lap, but not TOO easy, since they sometimes swapped positions (like the conveyor belts in Toad's Factory), so there still is some resemblance of challenge here! So I think the MK7 version is the best one.

I was surprisingly taken aback by how good the Tour tracks actually were. Paris Promenade lulls you into a false sense of security of a casual drive in the City of Lights until all of a sudden your driving into oncoming traffic in lap 3. Even if it's basic, it's nifty that each individual lap of Tokyo Blur is a different route as it mixes up the formula. Ninja Hideaway is just damn good, full stop. Honestly, besides finding Toad Circuit really boring, I really like every other new course a lot.

    • @alexanderadams9058
      @alexanderadams9058 2 года назад +23

For real. Every track, except Toad Circuit, is awesome and even though some of them are a little short (Coconut Mall seems shorter for some reason) I don't really mind because of how plain fun they are. Shroom Ridge and Coconut Mall especially! Though....Paris Promenade is probably my favorite. It looks the best, is a decent length, and the third lap is crazy in a good way.
Side note : The music is amazing as always and I'm glad they remixed every song, even the tour tracks that aren't even that old. (Tokyo Blur is the best imo)

Having "Gold ☆☆☆'d" both Golden Dash & Lucky Cat Cups on 200cc over the weekend, I can admit Toad's Circuit is a little more fun but it's still my least favorite of the new tracks. On specifically 200cc, my favorite courses were Shroom Ridge and Ninja Hideaway because they forced me to learn how to drift around tight corners at that speed which allowed me to go back and Gold ☆☆☆ all the remaining of the base game cups that my younger self wrote off as impossible.

Coconut Mall felt really lifeless, I don't know why. I really liked Sky Garden, Shroom Ridge, Choco Mountain, and Paris Promenade. Ninja Hideaway was hard but enjoyable, though a little hard on the eyes as well. Tokyo Blur was really obnoxious and annoying to me, and Toad Circuit felt like a waste. We DON'T need a basic race track again (I would only accept it if it's a GBA or SNES remake one as they had more limited themes). This rate of quality is not bad at all. I'd like if they put more work into the graphics though. Not a lot, it doesn't need to stun me like Mario Kart 8 did back when it released, but just a bit more. Also let us have some anti-gravity sections. That's all.

First off, I want to say I’m just happy we got more content in Mario Kart 8 period. Nintendo have been sitting on a gold mine for ages with a game that has sold amazingly and people have wanted new stuff in it if we weren’t getting a new game but just hadn’t done anything with it until now. So I’m happy that we got anything period for Mario Kart 8 in the form of the Booster Course Pack.
As for my thoughts, I really didn’t notice any graphical difference in the courses. I’m sure it’s there and I’m just not looking at it too closely, so I’m happy keeping it that way. And the courses are fun, very happy to see GBA tracks added when they are since I played a ton of Super Circuit back in the day. And I do really like how dynamic the Tour tracks are, since they take you on a different path either on the last lap where you go backwards in Paris and you take a different path each lap in Tokyo. Tokyo in general is one of my favorite of the (relative to this game) new courses because it looks nice and colorful and also the change of track each lap is pretty neat. And Coconut Mall is Coconut Mall. It’s a fun track to race on and has the fun music to boot. And the remixes are all pretty nice, too… at least, I assume the Tour tracks are remixed, I never heard the originals.
But overall, I think the courses are pretty fun and I’m looking forward to the next batch of them and again, I’m just happy Nintendo actually did DLC for the game we wanted new stuff added in for. Surprising how that works, doing the thing your consumers want.

I really like these new courses! These are fairly basic compared to the rest of the game’s tracks, but I do feel like Choco Mountain, Sky Garden, and Ninja Hideaway meet the design quality standard of MK8 even without the antigravity. The other courses are still fun, of course! I do feel like Paris is a bit confusing and has a bigger learning curve than most tracks (but going backwards is a nice homage to Tour’s R courses), and Tokyo is just mostly a straight shot (but lap 3 is…oddly satisfying, especially in 200cc). Shroom Ridge is like a really good Toad’s Turnpike with fun shortcuts. And Toad Circuit was one I think I was dreading most, but it actually is a nice basic course that’s still good Mario Kart fun. Coconut Mall is still Coconut Mall, but the fact the outlet shortcut requires a mushroom when the floor is wooden planks doesn’t make much sense to me, and the course is SUPER bright and vibrant, and I miss the moving cars a bit. I feel like I didn’t enjoy it as much as I used to. But that’s probably a me problem?
And hey! With 200cc, even simpler tracks become a lot more fun. Toad Circuit and Ninja Hideaway feel practically made for it.
I think the thing that really sells this DLC for me is the music. The graphics aren’t as impressive and detailed as the core game’s, but the music maintains that high quality standard, and it was a blast hearing these tracks. Sky Garden’s remastered theme had me giddy, Choco Mountain and Shroom Ridge’s themes were a nostalgia fest, and I was NOT ready for Toad Circuit’s hypefest rendition of that *decent* MK7 track theme I’ve heard so much in MK7 AND Tour. The fact we could hear live renditions of every track theme may be what has me most excited for these new tracks. The most exciting part of experiencing these remastered tracks, for me, was hearing the music glowup more than seeing the graphical glowup.
Anyway, as a longtime Mario Kart fan, those are my thoughts! Super excited for Wave 2!

For all those saying this is objectively better than Mario Kart 9 from a price standpoint, what we're getting essentially, is extra DLC for Smash 4, except it's only returning fighters like Lucas and Roy.
A lot of us wanted MK9, and if we go by the Smash analogy, what essentially happend, is that instead of getting Smash Ultimate, a new Smash game to replace Smash 4, we instead got DLC for the latter. And although it is a lot of DLC at a cheaper price than a new full game, its _only_ DLC of old fighters, with revamped movesets/modernized integration into the Smash 4 engine from previously Smash titles and no new fighters like Cloud, Ryu, and Bayonetta.
So I ask this to those that are claiming this is a better option for us, would you have rather gotten 'Everyone is Here!' In Smash 4, with no actual new additions, or in Smash Ultimate, where we also get Ridley, King K Roll, The Belmonts, etc with all new mechanics, stages, and modes.

Driving on it has you alternately floating above the ground and sinking into the grass. Also the falling rocks on choco mountain don't damage you if you're not moving, which seems odd. It's not like it'll affect gameplay at all, but it feels unpolished. Not at all what we've come to expect from Mario kart.

The reason GBA Sky Garden feels so short is that it was actually shortened and made more simplistic.
Mario Kart Tour makes big changes to the GBA courses, and actually messes with their layouts. Sky Garden and Cheep Cheep Island specifically had really huge layout changes that make them a lot more simple and short.
    It's really a shame.

I think the stigma against DLC on the expansion pass is a little strange. Like, I always thought the point of the "Expansion" pass was to give "expansion" DLC to its members. For me, it's always been obvious that probably all of Nintendo's future DLC packages will be on the Expansion pass, making the value go up over time. It seems like the average consumer doesn't need to permanent access to DLC, since they probably won't be playing that game in a few months to a year. $50 is a pretty big price tag, but already if you play Mario Kart and Animal Crossing you would be saving money only getting the Expansion Pass. I would bet future DLC (BotW 2, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, 3D Mario, etc) will be included with it.

Actually, I'd be really happy if they went back and added previously released stuff, but that's mainly just because I never got around to getting the ones for Fire Emblem and a couple other games.

The coolest part would be it would bring in way more replay ability especially with two player double dash mode.
Then they could also introduce side car bikes which when the second player jabs it flips the side of the side car. Also bring benefits to both Karts and Bikes as in inside drift, side cars etc making it unique but also giving the game more to play.

Loving the DLC! I actually really like the new artstyle being so playful and colorful, and I'm a huge fan of Shroom Ridge. I experienced Airship Fortress in 7 and while it was a blast I might like Shroom Ridge more. Might be my new fav DS track surprisingly! Very twisty, keeps me on my toes, good shortcuts too!
I also really enjoy the Tour tracks, they both play very nice for me. I'm satisfied and hungry for more!

"It's hard to complain that the graphics are weak compared to the original game"
"It's hard to complain that the tracks are pretty basic compared to the original game"
... Then what? Don't complain if something kinda sucks because there's a lot of it? A lot of boring tracks? We just accept quality over quantity like it's a good thing? It all just makes me so sad that this subpar content is being eaten up when the original game is just so damn good, y'know? :c

People don't want to be seen as too pessimistic and whiny, I can't imagine the struggle of being a Nintendo content creator right now
Everything they've been putting out recently has the energy of "It's kinda good, but...."

I still don't know how to feel about this. Yes, its a lot of classic courses, but at the same time if they have been, and are continuing to work on this game, why are they all just classic tracks instead of new ones? This was a perfect opportunity to continue to expand upon what Mario Kart is. The last DLC for 8 added Isabelle, Link, car pieces and tracks for each as well as Blue Falcon's racer and Big Blue. Why not continue the trend and add in Samus for more Dread (and Prime 4) hype, or a Fire Emblem stage or kart pieces? This was a chance to continue to expand the game beyond just Mario and Mario adjacent characters, paving the way for the next game that would just be a Nintendo All Stars Kart kinda thing.

    Here’s my opinion:
    Golden Dash Cup:
(Tour) Paris Promenade - D Tier
    (3DS) Toad Circuit - D Tier
    (N64) Choco Mountain - A Tier
(Wii) Coconut Mall - S Tier
    Lucky Cat Cup:
(Tour) Tokyo Blur - D Tier
(DS) Shroom Ridge - C Tier
(GBA) Sky Garden - B Tier
(Tour Nitro) Ninja Hideaway - S Tier

It kind of surpassed my expectations imo, I was excited for it when nintendo direct just ended. But then after watching it again a bit later, I noticed how "plastic" it looked and I guess the internet found out all of the tracks here were ripped from Tour so I was kind of disappointed, like all of the tracks are basically the Tour version of them. So yeah, I was kind of disappointed. Skip forward to now after I played them, they looked a lot better than I expected and I actually kind of like them now. It doesn't really look bad anymore imo and the tracks were fun to play, and the Tour tracks were completely new to me since I've never really played Tour, so it was a surprise how creative those tracks were. I didn't expect it to start changing things up like every lap for the city races. But yeah, I feel a lot better about the booster course pass now and I'm looking forward to whenever Wave 2 releases. (Just looking forward to when all of them are out tbh lmao but yeah)
