  • Little demo of what this set looks & sounds like for Retro Gaming.
    Playing games from a modified PAL SNES in NTSC format using MSU1 Enhanced Audio.
    This model is fitted with an active speaker system which sounds great and the screen generates some really nice scan lines.

    Hi . I got an MX7000 as a birthday present , and I love it . I just have a few difficulties with it . I can't find the " SOUND " cue to add to the list when accessing " ADD ? " , and , because of that , I can only play in Mono . I also read from someone that they can access " SOUND " , but mono remains mono ( I also tried tuning it , but , it doesn't change it ) . My other issue is that when I plug in my ps2 through scart , the image is less bright than my android tv box for example , which I have hooked up through a converter to SCART .

    Are you there ? I fixed the brightness issue. I can't find anyone to help me with the SOUND issue though. Forums aren't replying to me, for whatever reason (my registered accounts aren't being activated, and team members aren't replying to my emails.).

    Hi, I also have black MX7000. Can you tell me your settings (Rdr, Gdr, Rcu, Gcu, Hfq, Hph, Ham, Vam,...) for this TV? Thanks in advance. 😉

      @@RetroFlex1981 the RDR, GDR, RCU and GCU (as well as Color Preset) only affects inputs that are NOT RGB. So composite, S-video are affected, RGB are hard coded in the signal :)

      Yeah I absolutely love the sound on this set as the MX7000 has an active speaker system. Maximum BASS! (+4) a splash of Treble (+2) and Loudness ON.

      I got a SW1 version. Does this one also have this option. Or do I have to open up the back?

    • @RetroFlex1981
      @RetroFlex1981  4 года назад

      @@kleinebollie it's not a hidden service option it's just a standard one you set with the remote. On mine you press sound press ok (play) once then a second menu appears with the bass, treble, loudness etc.

    • @kleinebollie

      So I only have to open it up if I want to adjust the geometry of the image?

    • @RetroFlex1981
      @RetroFlex1981  4 года назад

      @@kleinebollie yeah just to short the service mode pins to access the service menu on the SW1 model which is annoying. Obviously be careful as there are some extremely high voltages in a CRT, have a read up about it first if you are unsure. Everything else is just in the usual menus.

    Hi, did you remove the protective glass on the TV?How it is removed tell me, I wanted to wipe the dust inside but I'm afraid to break something.

    • @RetroFlex1981
      @RetroFlex1981  3 года назад +1

      Hi! No the TV still has the protective glass on but it is actually quite easy to remove. If you look closely there is a plastic strip along the top and bottom of the glass, you just remove this and the screws are underneath. I will take a quick photo on my current MX8000 for you (it is the same on the MX7000).
      EDIT: Here you go, heres a couple of photos of me starting to remove the plastic strip. Hope it helps!

    Did you use SCART cable? If so, have you been able to get 4:3 ratio? Whatever I try with both my and SNES/Megadrive it's always 16:9 by default and it seems to be impossible to control/change it with BEO4 remote. I've played a lot with SCART pin 8 as well trying to feed it with 12V to force 4:3 but no success. And it's like that on both MX7000's I have, one is version 4.1 and the other 4.3 :(

    • @RetroFlex1981
      @RetroFlex1981  4 года назад

      Hi, yeah all my consoles run in 4:3 as standard using RGB scart cables. Try removing Pin 8 completely and switch inputs e.g. AV1 / AV2 manually rather than let it auto switch. It should default to 4:3 without any voltage, mine does anyway. The scart design is supposed to force 16:9 when there is more than +5V on Pin 8 i think. Have a look on the pin out diagram on wikipedia... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SCART

    • @dirtriderpl
      @dirtriderpl 4 года назад

      @@RetroFlex1981 Thank you for taking time to answer. I would have two additional questions: how did you configure your sockets? I mean which option did you select for each socket. One more thing, if that's not too much of a hassle and if you have multimeter: would you please check the DC voltage of the SCART socket itself, between pins 4 (negative) and 8 (positive) when the TV is on and this socket is selected - on both my TV's it shows 3.2 V, on my Philips TV it shows 0V. I suspect that this might be the reason why my B&O's force 16:9 internally (it normally requires between 5-8 V on PIN 8 to do that). The most frustrating thing however is that there seems to be no option to control the aspect ratio of a MX7000 with remote - old budget Philips TV can deal with that with press of a button.

    • @RetroFlex1981
      @RetroFlex1981  4 года назад

      @@dirtriderpl No problem. So my sockets are configured as AV1 - V.TP 1 and AV2 - V.TP 2 and when I want to switch inputs on my remote i press V Tape for AV1 and Shift + V Tape for AV2 if that makes sense.
      I just did the test with the multi meter and I am indeed showing the +3.2v on Pin 8 on both AV ports.
      One thing of note is that this TV is actually a SW1.1 chassis with a SW4.4 AV board as I switched them out as part of a repair I was attempting and as this worked flawlessly i left it in this configuration as the rest of the 4.4 set was useless in bad condition with screen burn. Not that this makes any difference to how the TV behaves though in terms of the SCART behavior.
      I also have a Gamecube which provides the +12V on Pin 8 and the TV auto switches to this input when turned on automatically and when turned off it returns to TV mode even if V Tape / AV was previously selected. All my other consoles provide no voltage to Pin 8 and I have to switch the AV input manually but it is still in 4:3 filling the screen.
      I have never seen the screen force itself into 16:9 so struggling to see what your issue might be, have you had any input fill the screen? Perhaps you should look at the settings in the service menu to try and correct the image.
      Also be aware that PAL consoles will have a border at the top and bottom of the screen because of the resolution difference , I am running modded consoles in NTSC format which fills the screen fully.
      Does the TV white noise static fill the screen?

      @RetroFlex1981  4 года назад

      @@dirtriderpl I don't know if you are still having this issue but I recently got an MX8000 model to replace this MX7000 and it has the 16:9 issue you mentioned so it seems to be a thing with the later models such as the MX4200 and MX8000 but didn't effect the MX7000. Anyway it is easy to return to 4:3 mode by using the remotes list button, select Format then press 1 for 4:3 mode and exit.

    • @dirtriderpl

      @@RetroFlex1981 Hi there :) yes, the issue persists on MX7000 unfortunately. I also got an MX8000 in the meantime. Nice OSD + picture format options (just as you mentioned) + better sound + sharper picture + no horizontal non-linearity problems (no scrolling effect in Sonic for instance) = I am delighted :) The only downside is that it is 16:9 on every start so I always need to fiddle with switching formats. For MX7000 its seems to not be possible to control picture format at all - I even emailed B&O service and they had to admit that they don't know how to do it - I am not sure however whether there's no such option or whether all the CRT experts are already retired ;)

    Hi, I have recently obtained a MX7000, works great apart from the screen sometimes (say every ten minutes or so) going black for just a second (not longer) - almost like it is refreshing or being turned off and on extremely quickly. Do you know what might be causing this? Is this a symptom that it is starting to die?

    • @RetroFlex1981

      Hi! Even this TV you are looking at has been repaired, obviously tech of this age needs a bit of TLC. Your issue doesn't sound too sinister but will probably need some capacitors replacing so if you are not an electronics guy you will need someone who is to do it for you.

      Hi there, these TV's pretty much need the remote to operate as they have very little in the way of controls on them. What i would suggest is a cheaper replacement than the B&O original which can be very expensive. I personally bought this one and it works great... www.remotes4u.co.uk/Bang-and-Olufsen-BEOVISION-MX-7000-Remote-Control-Alternative.html
      The only other alternative would be to supply the correct voltage down the scart cable input to make it auto switch. Pin 8 I believe with 12V for 4:3 aspect ratio.
