    Aloha Andy,
    i enjoyed watching your review. I bought my PXG set a while back (1st gen.). What sold me on them was the feel. Really great feel at impact, reminded me of when you hit a muscle back or blade pure...like a hot knife going though soft butter. Not to mention that I gained between 1 - 2 clubs from my old Titleist 990's that I had in my bag for about a decade. My daughter who's a high school junior on her golf team just got her Gen 2 set a month ago and she really loves them as well, I told her she could have any set she wanted and it came down to the Taylor Made (clone) and PXG. Both sets gave her almost identical stats on Trackman, but she liked the PXG like me because of the softer feel at impact. We are a happy PXG family. aloha, ross

    I really enjoyed your video and have subscribed. I went for a fitting 3 days ago and from the first hit - wow. Yes they are expensive but I can’t wait for them to be delivered, the feel of the clubs and the results on mishits is amazing! Keep up the good work!

    Just ordered mine. I've been in the market for a year trying all products including the T-mbs and P-790 but once I hit the 0311T I was just blown away from the feel and distance with my swing. I was hitting 7i 175 within 5 yard radius. It was good to see your review as I felt that you had the same response I did when I tried them... thanks!

    Watching this two years later. Well done! Now that PXG has released their gen 3 line, these gen 2 irons are currently on sale for $159 each, which is more in my budget.

    Hi Andy, I happened to stumble across this review while searching for PXG reviews. I recently found a couple very interesting things you might not be aware of, and thought I might share them. Firstly, I found out, that being a US military veteran, I'm able to avail of a 1/2 price discount on clubs, apparel, everything. Secondly, after contacting their support team, I learned that they have reduced their prices on clubs for everyone to essentially the prices given to us. I was informed that the Gen2 irons are now $149 each. Just for a little background, I relocated/retired to the Philippines 10 years ago, took up golf 3 years ago, and play year round at least 3 days a week as I have very little of anything else to do, and of course, it's fun exercise, walking an average of 20+ miles a week. My beginning set of irons, that I still game in the long irons are the Cleveland HB irons. Then I really got the golf bug and bought a loft/lie machine & corresponding equipment to make little adjustments here and there as needed. I patiently waited till I found a set of Mizuno JPX EZ Forged irons (2016 model) at a price I couldn't pass up. It's been fun adjusting them as needed for different strategies on different courses, whilst having my morning coffee! But as I'm getting into the twilight of my golfing years, I'm liking the idea of playing the best that exists in terms of performance, forgiveness, feel, adjustability, looks, etc. Basically the entire package. I'm considering getting a 4i SGI and a 7i in XF to test with the idea of 4-6 in SGI, and 7-GW in XF. I do hope you and your other follower's would find this ridiculously long post to be of some benefit. Keep up the good work mate, you are a fountain of knowledge and an inspiration to others.

    Great review and very honest. I have just saved my pennies and bought a set of 0311p gen 2 with the new kbs tgi graphite shaft. All I can say is they are FANTASTIC, no they don’t hit a great shot for you every time but even the off centre ones are there or thereabouts, they give so much confidence its unbelievable. Yes they are expensive, but as in everything in life there is always a choice.

    Surely "The Average Golfer" is not a reflection of money in the pocket it is about the performance of the player. Andy, I would say you are above average being a nine handicap. Average to me would be 16 to 24.....Great video! Very informative! I note your attitude (some would say golf snobbery) has changed (for the better) over the last 6 months or so, you have been more open minded to "why not get all the help you can" I am currently gaming M4 irons which I was fitted for 6 months or so ago, I did have in mind what I wanted but that went out of the window, the "performance" said it all. They have improved my iron play immensely......
    Only been playing anywhere near seriously/regularly for 3 years now (62 years old/19 HCap)
    Recently come into a bit of extra cash, golf is my passion so what the heck....
    I have a PXG irons fitting this coming week

    I agree with you taking price out of the review. The question is not can you afford them ( I can't ) it's : if you can afford them, are they the best choice?One question - you said if they were all on a table for free you would take a set of PXG irons - Did you say which set you would choose?

    • @TheAverageGolfer

    Really like these clubs.. I would probably need the PXG XF or SG1 versions.. But according to the specs, these still have a lot of offset.. I never did like the large amount of offset in just about all game improvement (G.I.) irons in general.. Be so nice if they offered another version of the XF with a lot less offset. When you look at the reviews on youtube of just about all game-improvement irons .. the reviewers generally like game improvement irons, but they would not put them in the bag because of the large amount of offset that they have.

    I just got fitted for PXG 0211....
    Wow!!!!
    I was absolutely blowed away with looks, sound, feel, DISTANCE!!!! I’m replacing a set of Mizuno 900HM. After playing the Mizunos, I thought I would be in them forever. Had my eye on the new MP-20 line... sorry guys, but the 0211 won out. I even splurged & got the 0311 3iron (driving iron)
    Full disclosure, I’m retired first responder, so they were only $125 USD a stick...

    If as you said they performed the same if not better then the price is always the point. I would say they are out of the range of the average person regards cost, it's always a factor in decision making. For me better value options in end result return

    Great review Andy and Lawrence seemed very patient too considering you were only trying them. After watching this I personally would love to try myself. I had a test drive in a Tesla car the other year even after telling the rep I could not afford it even if I liked it he still said come on lets go anyway. Your review is just about their performance and in no way are you saying everyone should have them, we can all dream though.

    Andy - These are $125per club ($400 orig) currently on the PXG site and the new 0211 is $115. Which should I choose?!

      I don't believe that, and even if they did they aren't paying retail. The local fitters that offer pxg have sets and I doubt they shelled out 3K for them and 600 each for the wedges. Why would Zach Johnson pay for the irons and then get paid to where the hat? or does he just do the endorsements for free?

On another note, they do have a discount for military and first responders. Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.

    Hi Andy, over a year ago I told you about my PXGs they are fantastic I have the original model in the XF range I also bought the 50,56,60 wedges and a few months later they brought out the driving iron which is a two iron in my case.
    I’m not wealthy either but golf is my passion hence I bought them from Michael Newton at Lytham golf academy, I did say you could try them but unfortunately we still have not had a game as yet at Northumberland GC.
    Forgot the price and the golf club sells itself when you try them so I enjoyed the video because now you know how I feel about the irons as you’ve tested them and price apart fell in love with the product that PXG has introduced to golf. #Tagers

      Teeuplo feat. Average Golfer To be honest Andy I’ve only used in twice both off the fairways on par 5s but that was back in April time when it was poor weather and now with the hot weather I’ve not needed it, but both times I hit it canny not very high but great into the wind as yes very soft.

    Have to say a good honest review I know the price is a sticking point but what I would say about PXG they do not devalue your clubs like other brands that bring out new sets of irons or drivers every 6 months. I would like to say they are out of my price range but when you find something that helps the game become more enjoyable and easier maybe there are worth the price tag.

      It all depends on how many irons you buy - PXG doesn't have a "set". But if golf is your passion, you owe it to yourself to at least try them before you bock at the price.

    Why are people banging on about the price and the 'Average Golfer' in the comments? It's about average ability not average disposable income. Bob Parsons himself plays of 10 so I'd consider him to be an 'Average Golfer' too.
    Enjoyed the review Andy. Only query would be around the PXG fitting process still being centred around a 7 iron. I'd have expected to them to fit across the irons rather than just hitting 7 irons. Do they do that or is it just the way you set up the video? Cheers

    I disagree with comments of those who are hammering on the premium price point. Being an average golfer does not imply that one cannot afford PxG or any irons at whatever price tag. So whether you play off single digits or an 15 handicapper if you can afford then buy.

    I bought a set of the 311’s last year and honestly they have been awful, handicap went from 5-7 so I spent an extra £1k on new shafts, wedges etc...game was even worse so bought a used set of MP18’s which are brilliant and got me back down to cat1 again. Very expensive ornaments now sat in the cupboard!

    Your carry numbers are very impressive, but i feel your spin numbers are too low really. so whilst the distance is impressive, i think stopping power on hard greens could be an issue for you
    Your ball speed with the game improvement club was QUICKER than PGA tour average

    Tried them and they are really nice clubs, but just not worth 2-3 times the price of other clubs. The performance while maybe a touch better than some others(and it would be hard to really determine), just isn't justified IMO (obviously for some it is).

    Andy I understand what you're saying about separating price from anything else, but that's a bit like being an "Average" Car reviewer and then reviewing a Rolls Royce to you average driver and saying "let's ignore price". They are intertwined. Yes PXG have the best components but they are charging for them and so you cannot separate price and kit. The other aspect is that if PXG Clubs were so good and today's Pros can pick/choose what Clubs they are going to use, why, to my knowledge, doesn't anyone other than the PXG Staffers use them and why have the Staffers not won anything. PXG is a kudos brand, not value for money and on the evidence no better than Taylor Made, Callaway, Ping.

    • @TheAverageGolfer
      @TheAverageGolfer  6 лет назад +2

      What are your thoughts on the Tm/Callaway £449 drivers? expensive or average? If I only reviewed product based on affordability that can be very different for many golfers.
      My point is/was if you perform a review with a pre conception based on price it can detract from the whole purpose which is to test the 'product' based on performance.
      As for the Pro statement if Zach Johnson had of won over the weekend would that change anything in your view?

    • @monotts5218
      @monotts5218 6 лет назад +1

      Teeuplo feat. Average Golfer Andy, ZJ didn't & no it wouldn't. As for Callaway, yes I do find them expensive & would suggest that by bringing out the XR, Callaway have been disappointed in sales. I do understand your point but you can't say PXG have best components but let's ignore price. They are intertwined.

    • @TheAverageGolfer
      @TheAverageGolfer  6 лет назад +4

      I think for me the point was - we all know how expensive they are, thats widely publicized but are they any good? From my experience there are many products in life that are very expensive and do not live up to expectation but in this case they did and yes they are very expensive.

  • @banditbaker1675
    @banditbaker1675 6 лет назад

    Xtreme Review Andy, well done. From a personal view I don`t like the look of the screws at the back of PXG clubs, I much prefer the simpler profile of the new i500`s. But it is all academic because the bottom line is that the bottom line is just too steep for most of us. Even if I could afford them, I`m not sure that I would buy them. In the same way that if I could afford a Ferrari, I wouldn't buy one, because you know that some toerag who key-it!!!!!
