While Odin drove the bus through every taken and tree in the way to the shore too
@@piratetv1 I like to think they're just always ready to rock within a minutes notice at all times
Remember folks! The Old Gods of Asgard are canonical bards *so powerful* they maintain their sanity in the dark place through the *power of metal alone.* If that ain’t worth throwing up the horns, I don’t fuckin’ know what is.
They’re also apparently so hype that they can call upon the spirit of “Fat” Bob Balder to shred on lead guitar from beyond the grave
If Tor and Odin come a-callin’, not even the hands of death can keep Balder from shredding.
I think Tor's guitar is an object of power. A new representation of the Service Weapon from control. AKA Mjolnir, Thor's hammer.
@@MasDoucamazing theory
@SilkyForestMoose best part is that in Norse Mythology, Baldor dies and heralds the coming of ragnarok, before being brought to life after the events of Ragnarok.
So Bob Balder coming back to life to rock out is perfectly in line with his deific counter-part!

Best part is it’s completely true and not some shit he dreamt up
Does Alan say that to Kiran? I don't remember hearing that.
Does it 'make sense' though?
I was under the impression that Alan's chapters in the Dark take place _after_ Saga's, and "Dark Ocean Summoning" happens in her chapters.

I didn't notice that now im going to have to replay it

Nah, Odin and Tor are the OoP's here. They're goated.
ive been thinking about this. are the songs rituals, OOPs, or altered items?
Look how many paranormal activity laws they broke in 6 minutes
The Old Gods of Asgard are mighty.
I'd say the Old Gods' show counts as an AWE...
Love how Odin and Tor can barely articulate a sentence most of the time. But get them to perform for an audience and they sing like the rock gods that they are.
We need to see you guys perform all those AW2 songs at The Game Awards...it just needs to happen
I WILL DO SIDEWAYS BACKFLIPS
I just wanna see Ilkka Villi and Sam Lake do the dance from Herald of Darkness
If this doesn't happen, they need to fire all the event coordinators working the show!
Or at least get them to Prog Power again
Seeing a live performance of Herald of Darkness, with the actors and everything, would be kickass lol
This is currently my favourite song.
Spoilers for Alan Wake II:
I also think it’s funny to remember that the context of it in the game is; that 2 old men are playing it in the middle of the night on top of a nursing home bus that is parked on the shore of a lake that is actually a portal to another dimension where works of fiction becomes reality, to summon a famous writer who has been presumed dead for the last 13 years. All of which is happening well 3 government agents watch, 1 of which is also fighting hordes of civilians possessed by evil shadows
meanwhile Scratch is watching from the bushes - delaying his entrance to listen to this BANGER
Yeah it was fucking Metal as hell, like almost basically playing at the doorway to Hell while demons are attacking Saga
Kinda the coolest boss fight in videogame history. Not the best or most difficult, but the coolest. Rock concert while slaying the spawns of dark hell.
What I don't get is why the Taken are trying to stop it. Scratch, aka the Dark Presence, controls the Taken, right? So, why would he be trying to prevent his own escape?
@benjamincrew1949 could be a coincidence since they just really want the clicker

@SPIKEYROXAS Pretty sure they went to Door. There's a page by the retirement home where they agree to go to Door in return for him leaving their family alone.
I love the simplicity of the line "Once again the Ocean's a lake." As if to say "we're done with your bullshit we want our friend back!" Such an amazing sound track!
This exact thing but for the line "By name I will summon him" cause it gives me that "get the fuck over here and do something about it" energy

The thought and purpose behind each word of this song is astounding. In universe, this song serves from its first lines to define and weaken the Dark place and Cauldron Lake "I name the stars above your cauldron, and all that lies beneath your waves"
Defining the thing strips it of its power.
The fact that canonically, Odin worked the details of this song out over the course of the drive to the lake is astounding.
@@名もない人404 perhaps the lines "awake new and whole" also served to weaken the dark presence within alan. "It writes itself" maybe the dark presence DID write it but tor and odin aren't bound by the story
@@名もない人404I would think it'd because, like Alan mentions, the art has to be dark to become reality. Everything has a cost. Bringing the darkness with him was that cost. That's how I interpeted it anyway
@@DrasticSkuba it doesn't have to be Dark, Alan is bound to this rule because he's a murder thriller writer. Tom the Poet, Tor, and Odin was free ballin at least until Wake rewrote the Lake's properties under the darkness's influence. even Darkless Night was supposed to be a romance before being perverted to a Horror story.

Эта сцена очень похожа на ту самую сцену на концертной площадке из первой части. Слезы ностальгии наворачиваются🥹
@@pahomerr Spoken like a true Child of the Elder God. I adore the concert scene from the first game.
agreed!
I like how the Dark Presence growls some of the lines along with Old Gods of Asgard, and adds just ONE line to the song itself... which I suspect is what allowed it to escape along with Alan.
I love how this isn't just a song, it's a rescue attempt.
Ordinary people : "...dark waters..."
Old Gods of Asgard (Poets of the Fall) : " The onyx kiss of inky waters, The jet black undertow of fright"🤘🔥🤘
Gosh, I love this masterpiece 🤩🤗
“Awake new and whole. By name I will summon him”
I don’t know if that was intentional or great writing but putting Alan’s name in the song (A. Wake) is amazing. And plays into the story
Dark Ocean Summoning definitely managed to top the stage fight scene in the first game. It was like that scene cranked to 11, just like everything about Alan Wake II. Remedy and Poets of the Fall both at their finest!
You could say the first stage fight was... upstaged.
It was just missing Barry's quips.
It was like playing an intense metal music video, what with the lake going crazy and hazing up the beach.
Nah, the first game did it better
Genuinely shed a tear when the song started up and you saw a vision of them all young again with Baldur.
"It's not a loop. It's a spiral."
It's a god damn, mind frying rock opera, baby!
0:48 This guitar section is just *chefs kiss*.
Just imagine what Estevez is feeling here, like, she comes to do some normal SPC like work, finds an anomaly so dangerous it team wipes her crew and almost does her in too.
The local town and nursery home are so accustomed to the madness that killing the monsters from the hellgate lake is just tuesday for them, they are LONG past the 'oh god monsters!' stage.
A random FBI lady is suddenly a key player, and proceeds to bring her grandparents to the shore of said hellgate lake to summon a famous writer out of the hell dimension with a rock show for the lake. All while the FBI lady is having a battle royale in front of the stage.
The plan fails, she is thrown into hell by the big bad SCP, who then takes control of reality and flees, leaving her on the shore alone to see the famous writer (who is kind of half responsible for all this shitshow) be her sole hope, and meanwhile, the two geriatrics are walking into the lake like its the pool of a senior home, knowing its a portal to hell.
What a day.
Well even the FBC are having their own problems at the Oldest House. I like to think that simple throwaway line is important as Remedy do plan a control spin off multiplayer game and I think it’s that and why she’s short staffed because most agents and rangers are back at the Oldest House

Because Tim is shifting between realities and no cause for concern but someone of that caliber will be needed back at the Oldest House.
@@archon7105 Well I'm pretty sure when someone is possessed by the Hiss, they're sort of screwed, and the people that survived are all inside a small room on the executive floor. She is short staffed but it may be because of the Hiss messing up everything.
I'm not sure what they'll do with Tim without the rights to Quantum Break, the red haired woman most likely is a reference (as Jesse's mocap actor was also a character there) but we'll see.
@@dragondelsur5156 in quantum break he told Beth he’ll come and find her. In Alan Wake 2 on Tim’s board it says the red haired woman will come for him. It’s implied both Jesse and Beth are the same just different universes. I know Old Gods of Asgard are Poets of the Fall and I know that Poets play a bit different music in general but to be completely honest - I really feel like there is a big need of that classic heavy metal band like Old Gods of Asgard are. Catchy choruses and verses, sick guitar riffs and solos, amazing vocals! I love this version of Poets, man! To all the gods in the world - bless Finalnd🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻
In all honesty, I like Old Gods of Asgard more. They obviously like this kind of music too, or they wouldn't be playing, but I do think it's a shame they don't focus on it more, since they are really killing it. Can't blame them for playing what they want to play though. "Nobody tells a man how to play, it just ain't that way." - after all.
You should check out Van Halen's kid. He has some classic rock inspired tracks, but modernized
Not to toot my own horn but toot toot anyway. I kinda try to aim to that with Break From Bedlam. But hearing this track - maybe there aren't enought guitar solos.

This song is even better than Herald of Darkness. I love the idea of good guys doing an eldritch ritual, and the lyrics are great with the sneaky way of summoning Alan. Also, I *love* the lead guitarist for this band. Sometimes I bounce off rock/metal guitar a little because the guitarist sounds a bit more like they're trying to flex than play music, but this guy makes shredding sound absolutely beautiful, and I love it.
This song happened to come up on my playlist as I was driving to go pick up the keys to my first house. I became a solo homeowner at 28 years old, and this song made me feel like a total badass. Thank you for making such an awesome song, and for helping me celebrate!

Yeah, I like that despite the lyrics saying "By name I will summon him" they never directly say "Alan Wake". Interpretation and intuition apparently have a profound effect on how fiction interacts with the Dark Place. It's also referenced in multiple other places (and the game itself) how "A.
