Yeah, man! I've been listening to Alissa since her days with The Agonist, and when I heard she was replacing Angela in Arch Enemy my only thought was "They could not have picked a better replacement." It is extremely rare to ever say that when a singer leaves a band.

I am just happy that they found the perfect replacement for Angela Gossow, because I was pretty bummed when I heard she was stepping down from the role of lead vocalist for Arch Enemy.

Sword, skull, and weapons are always sounding in my head and won't let up anytime soon. This games soundtrack is phenomenal and the game play just as epic. This song set the tone for the game -for me- as soon as she sung "Hear me coming for your soul."
Much like how some are thinking that No Tomorrow is a song representing Paz, I think Stygia is for Unknown. The chorus represents her before losing her voice, when she was still the Hellsinger. Meanwhile, the main vocals could be interpreted as her inner voice, screaming for retribution and vengeance in comparison to the more calm and almost gentle chorus. If we go even deeper, and go with the proposed theory that No Tomorrow is at least in part Paz's song to Unknown, then Stygia could be partly her song to Paz in return. The chorus alone carries implications of this if you think of it that way. But that's just one person's take on the possible story implications of the badass soundtrack to a game that likely had story as a second thought to gameplay and the ost. Still, fun to ponder.
If I'm correct, one of the main reasons why all songs were made and written by the same group (Two Feathers) was not only because every song had to be in 4/4 time signature. Every song in every level had corresponding lyrics based on the story progression as well, which is another form of story-telling. The game is literally singing and screaming the lore and the story at you while you're playing.
I definitely had the thought that Stygia is Unknown's inner thoughts when I played the game. The lyrics are so representative of her character in the game, but I feel this particular song is directed more to the Judge than Paz

Appreciate the shoutout! It was a pleasure to co-contribute to the translation as much as I could. That said, here's some bits I came across when going over the track with a friend using some additional software: - During the intro, lines definitely read 'Calling for', although it sounds very much like 'Coming for', this also applies for the rest of the Chorus for the track. - During the first verse, very first line reads 'Purge the sunlight that WE once knew'. This would also make more sense considering there's 2 parties involved within the track's theme itself. - Also during the first verse, the lines 'This is the judge of your souls' and 'll crucify you' are probably incorrect to SOME degree (It sounds more like 'WILL crucify you', but unfortunately the line before that one is not clear enough to figure out what is exactly said). - During Verse 2, last line definitely reads 'Nothing imagined roses die'. After some debating and slowing down the track significantly to gain more clarity, the syllables just don't sound remotely like anything else. This would also make some sense due to the previous line specifying that 'Your time is promised when nothing is foretold'. And that's pretty much all I've got. Thanks for the prompt upload!
Alissa's vocals in Metal: Hellsinger's soundtrack are more based on the way she sings in her previous band The Agonist. Arch Enemy songs almost exclusively utilize only one of her tones even though she has at least five distinct ones.

Having Alissa's vocals complimenting a perfect beat rhythm of guns and slaughter is one of the most divine things out there, and no, the irony of that statement is not lost on me.

I recently played this game's demo. And being an autistic adult with a huge love for gaming and metal, I gotta say, it was one of the best experiences I've had in my entire life. Can't wait for the full game.
Starting out at 1x like: "alright; so what am i getting into? Starting to get the hang of the game 2x like: "okay, there's alot to do for just using this damn sword" finding out things are getting crazy 4x like: "well; i've noticed the music is really going ham now" The intruments going full blast 8x like "the better i do the more i'm rewarded with music? count me in!" Hearing vocals (and getting slapped down down several times trying to stay there) at 16x like "Must... Stop... Trying... to.. Headbang..."
This makes me hope that they release an album, this game has some killer music and I’d love to have it, whether physical or not, this is 2016 levels of good
I actually love and we can glean Paz and The Demon's (player-character's) relationship from this song. Paz has waited for him for eternity, to feel another who knows what it's like to be... for lack of a better phrase, "tortured." The Demon is Paz's outlet, and The Demon is willing to help her through everything. "Her voice is my voice, my song is her song." I really hope the full game turns out to be like this, just a wholesome demon's brutal quest to find love.

Sword, skull, and weapons are always sounding in my head and won't let up anytime soon. This games soundtrack is phenomenal and the game play just as epic. This song set the tone for the game -for me- as soon as she sung "Hear me coming for your soul."
This is going on my playlist right now, can't wait for the game to come out to hear more!

This version is perfect
Much like how some are thinking that No Tomorrow is a song representing Paz, I think Stygia is for Unknown. The chorus represents her before losing her voice, when she was still the Hellsinger. Meanwhile, the main vocals could be interpreted as her inner voice, screaming for retribution and vengeance in comparison to the more calm and almost gentle chorus. If we go even deeper, and go with the proposed theory that No Tomorrow is at least in part Paz's song to Unknown, then Stygia could be partly her song to Paz in return. The chorus alone carries implications of this if you think of it that way.
But that's just one person's take on the possible story implications of the badass soundtrack to a game that likely had story as a second thought to gameplay and the ost. Still, fun to ponder.
I accept this as my new headcanon tbh.

If I'm correct, one of the main reasons why all songs were made and written by the same group (Two Feathers) was not only because every song had to be in 4/4 time signature. Every song in every level had corresponding lyrics based on the story progression as well, which is another form of story-telling.
The game is literally singing and screaming the lore and the story at you while you're playing.
I definitely had the thought that Stygia is Unknown's inner thoughts when I played the game. The lyrics are so representative of her character in the game, but I feel this particular song is directed more to the Judge than Paz
This games been on my radar for a hot minute and when the demo dropped you know I was downloading it. Can't wait for the full release and hope the soundtrack will be available to download!

That said, here's some bits I came across when going over the track with a friend using some additional software:
- During the intro, lines definitely read 'Calling for', although it sounds very much like 'Coming for', this also applies for the rest of the Chorus for the track.
- During the first verse, very first line reads 'Purge the sunlight that WE once knew'. This would also make more sense considering there's 2 parties involved within the track's theme itself.
- Also during the first verse, the lines 'This is the judge of your souls' and 'll crucify you' are probably incorrect to SOME degree (It sounds more like 'WILL crucify you', but unfortunately the line before that one is not clear enough to figure out what is exactly said).
- During Verse 2, last line definitely reads 'Nothing imagined roses die'. After some debating and slowing down the track significantly to gain more clarity, the syllables just don't sound remotely like anything else. This would also make some sense due to the previous line specifying that 'Your time is promised when nothing is foretold'.

Alissa's vocals in Metal: Hellsinger's soundtrack are more based on the way she sings in her previous band The Agonist. Arch Enemy songs almost exclusively utilize only one of her tones even though she has at least five distinct ones.

I actually love and we can glean Paz and The Demon's (player-character's) relationship from this song. Paz has waited for him for eternity, to feel another who knows what it's like to be... for lack of a better phrase, "tortured." The Demon is Paz's outlet, and The Demon is willing to help her through everything. "Her voice is my voice, my song is her song."
I really hope the full game turns out to be like this, just a wholesome demon's brutal quest to find love.
