It steals your soul, devouring all your dreams"
This lyric is INSANE foreshadowing
Indeed..
Suits for Cyberpunk world..
especially Maelstrom freaks.
Yeah the foreshadowing of soul killer, makoshi, the black wall and ai? Love that in soundtracks
The song is literally about the main plot.
Considering this played while I was sneaking through Konpeki Plaza with security trying to hunt me down, it's all fitting.
foreshadowing of what?
the line is just about the reality of night city, the broken promise of capitalism/consumerism and the treachery of the corporations.

As a video game composer myself, I have sheer reverence for the artists on this score. The daunting task of composing songs and music to depict 50 years into the future is no small feat, most would probably default to the predictable 80’s synth wave but all the artists on this score absolutely knocked it out of the park.

I agree totally! Except Cyberpunk is more a "retrofuturistic" alternate universe than the future. A lot of obscure events happen in our time in 2020s if you read the shards and a lot of the same tech existed. Also the Soviet Union still exists among other things. Def an alternate reality 😀

Seeing how degenerated we've become as a species I would be surprised if music fifty years from now isn't something akin to a combination of microphone feedback and mindless screeching and wailing.

In 1:50 it talks about Soulkiller
@@foob916 i don't think so.
"behind the veil is the machine, it steals your soul, devouring all your dreams" = behind the facade of the american dream, the lie that happiness is attainable through consumerism and/or social mobility, is the reality that night city is run by opportunistic hawks whose actions ensure their own position while stripping the common man bare and leaving him with no prospects or hopes for the future.
you may think so due to the 'steals your soul' line, but this verse is not about soulkiller/mikoshi. it is just about a society that promises its inhabitants fortune while running them through the meatgrinder.
It's what makes this song perfect when you enter the Afterlife to talk to Rogue the first time, with Johnny guiding you along the way while in the background you hear the lyrics of the song all too aptly describing Johnny's new-found influence upon you.
I heard this on the radio in game. I literally stopped every I was doing just to look up this song just so I can add it to my playlist. This song reminded me of TheBrowning and The Path of Totality album from Korn.

Radio Vexelstrom's music is the most representative of Silverhand's motives I find. The feelings the songs on here provoke are just so full of lust for vengeance and cleansing by fire. If anyone is on a "Johnny Silverhand" playthrough, I highly recommend keeping your car's radio on this station set on Vexelstrom as I feel it fills you with motivation to go through with the crazy shit that happens on that playthrough. If you would rather interpret it as he is motiving others then you can see it as him saying rise up to action because we have the power, anything can burn so society has something to lose if it continues to oppress individuals.

Let's all head to Afterlife and drink a Jackie Welles for the best choom a merc could have.
I'm you from the future to tell you we are bald in the future so enjoy the hair now while you still can lol
I've had "everything burns!" stuck in my head ever since I started playing this game, lol. Kick ass song. I also especially like the one verse with that sick low upward bend on the guitar ;)
When I heard this track at the Afterlife bar, it really made me miss going out to shows and goth/industrial clubs! Can't wait for that again so much!
Were you around in the 90s? Around here it was the main scene for a while, we had such choices. Now, we have 1 club and who knows if it will survive covid.
@@raymondcoventry1221 I was a kid in the 90s, not old enough to go out to most clubs if any. Didn't happen til way later lol. I hope clubs make it through this!!!
After starting over with this game after all bugs, I can honestly say it's the most immersive game I've played in a long time. This song just makes it that much better.
Night City honestly feels like a real place, I never use fast travel unless my destination is on the other side of the map just because driving through the city just feels so much better.
@@bautistahernandezfernandoa85 sounds like cope
sounds like you havent played many games. instead of buying phantom liberty maybe you should buy yourself a taste?

This soundtrack has so many nova tracks that I just can't stop playing, and even then this one is my favorite by far. Fantastic soundtrack for a fantastic game.
Right there with ya, Choom
"fantastic game" 🤣🤣
3 years later, cyberdrones STILL cant admit they got scammed 🤣
This song and Never Fade Away are my favorites so far, literally feels out of this world
I don't know if this is a new addition to this questline since 2.0 or not, but I managed to clear (Don't Fear) The Reaper on my very first run on the hardest difficulty with little practice beforehand on fighting Smasher or Arasaka Tower in general. And just as I landed a final Nekomata shot and brought Smasher to his knees, from somewhere in the background out of all the songs THIS ONE popped up! I just couldn't resist but time my "Johnny Silverhand sends his regards." and execution shot with his Malorian to the lyrics of: "I'll drag you face down! Everything burns! EVERYTHING BURNS!"
No feeling in any videogame ever came close to that one. 10/10
Best futuristic story and soundtrack of any video game to date.
I swear the music in this game is the only frikkin' thing that's keeping me from totally hating it.
Love the distortion on the vocal track, totally brings the drive
Best song to avenge (spoiler)
David.
Rip Mexican Kamina you will be missed
I played Cyberpunk on 2020, and when I got to Smasher i blasted him while listeninh to this song. Now after Edgerunners, I'll do it again but for Becca and ma boy David 🤝
He didn't get to go to the moon, but I'll make Adam pay
Here from the future to tell y’all cyberpunk is actually really good now with the new patch
This soundtrack along with the Doom soundtrack are easily top 10 in video game soundtracks.
Well that was fast, was looking for this for hours last night. Thanks!
Right! This was tough to find. Worth it though.
I feel so badass riding around NC with this song on the radio. Love it!!!
Resist and Disorder and Kill the messenger were the 2 songs which kept me driving around, instead of fast traveling.
When you realize this is about johnny, listening to the lyrics, you realize he may not have your best interest at heart.
But they clearly didn't know my V, because I wanted this all along, but not just arasaka, EVERYTHING!
