Thank you everyone for watching and for your lovely comments 🥰This was definitely the best moment in the game if not in gaming history!! I'm still dancing to to herald of darkness💃
I agree, I was amazed :D
I believe this song encouraged a bunch of gamers to play Alan Wake 2 because that music video was incredible and thanks to the videogame awards, it was brought to their attention!
When Ahti hummed the song... I died! soo good. and a perfect relief in a scary game.. loved it
The fact this part of the game managed to get in despite the constant fighting to cut it shows how much Sam Lake really poured his heart and soul into this masterpiece
I can imagine Sam Lake saying, "this is the part people will talk about. This is Alan Wake 2's Ash Tray Maze."
According to Sam Lake himself, he has wanted to have a musical number like this in Control too but he lost the battle for it.
@@itsaUSBline Bro wanted to show his fabulous dance moves, but they didn't let him 😞 But his dream finally came true 🤩
It’s hard to believe people would fight NOT to have the greatest moment in gaming history to be included.
@@AuspexAOyuppp
I have this image of Sam Lake sitting in his office writing this scene, smiling as he writes "And everyone breaks out into dance, but especially me, it's amazing"
“Especially, the me part, tho”
Experiencing this first time alone in my room with the headphones on was nothing short of transcendental. Going through this whilst thinking about the game and story and trying to figure it all out, also listening to the amazing lyrics, omg. Then, a few days later, looking for people posting this kind of videos online and going through their faces and experiences, I got transported back all over again. I don't think anyone playing through this will ever forget it.
It's engraved in my brain for sure, I've been singing and dancing to this song since
Absolutely the best part of the game, certain to say I will not ever forget this section! Absolute banger of a song too
> looking for people posting this kind of videos online
So I'm not the only one getting high on people having same emotions I had when I was experiencing this part? Cool
True, ever since I'd played this chapter, this song is like embedded in my deepest part of brain!!!!! The song just automatically play in my head even during work-time.
I sure as hell won’t i had decided to buy this game to this game that same week it dropped and it was the best decision ever !!! 🔥 i smiled so big the whole time then when i had dudes trying to kill me i was oh shit wait !! 🤣 took me by surprise also
A large part of why this scene is so powerful is that it was a perfect intermission within a horro story. After being scary and terrifying at times for hours on end, you really need some levity to break apart that tension. Thats why comic relief is so important; otherwise you just end up feeling numb to it all. This scene brough laughter and happy tears, allowing the audience to reset and get ready for Round 2. And it was magnificent!
true!
Its also great in narrative. Right before this parte, Alan says "no more surprises". This while level is Just dark place saying F U to Alan and showing that he knows nothing.
Just like the dance scene in Ex Machina
Man I was so unbelievably drunk when I got to this part, I was beside myself over how fantastic it was
I was sober and STILL beside myself XD I was freaking out!!! And I was about to save and go to bed for work, then saw the "We Sing" title. I got four hours of sleep that night XD
I had a meeting the next day, it started later then usual work so I figured it was fine to sip a bit, then I was plastered and jamming out with the old gods, It was fantastic.@@TrystantheMutant510
edit: coolest part of the entire thing is when its showing alan fighting taken in the video, then they start popping up for real. It's so perfect.
I was high beyond human understanding, and I had the biggest smile on my face the entire time, I didn't care that I died like 4 times to the enemy encounter. Remedy takes such big swings and they wind up being such phenomenal moments in gaming. There's nothing like this! I really hope they get to perform this in some form on an awards show.
Damn, it's hard enough to grasp the story sober
@@TrystantheMutant510me too
The Old Gods of Asgard are, in real life, the Poets of the Fall. Their music was present in ending of Max Payne 2 with track "Late goodbye", in Futuremark 3Dmark 2005 with "Lift", and in some other game by Remedy.
Carnival of rust*, Looking up the sun, Love will come to you, Daze, Stay, Dreaming wide awake, and so much...
*claimed "the best finnish videomusic of all time"!
Give they a chance!
Poets is an amazing band. I wish they had some popularity in the States. Temple of Thought is really good.
Love them, gonna see them in two weeks.
Yeah but Poets are on the alternative rock side. The Old gods are a bit more metalish. So it's an excuse for the band to shred their asses off in the game.
"Some other game by Remedy" being, you know, Alan Wake.
@@TrueDiox and Control
The balls on Sam Lake to fight for this scene so hard. Him and Hideo Kojima, man. Two of the most bizarre people in the industry and I wouldn't have it any other way.
It is insane to think that this segment was so close to getting cut. It is so amazing how this keeps going regardless of how long you take to go through this section.
where did you hear about that? I see a lot of people saying this in the comments but I have no idea where they got the information haha
@@pupo.shorts1 Sam Lake mentions it in a few different interviews
@@pupo.shorts1Remedy has a whole part of their engine just for storytelling via music. All the songs have parts that can be subtly looped over and over without seeming obvious that this is being done, and also the loops have several versions chosen depending on how things are going for your character etc. The fact that the music always seems to perfectly yet subtly fit *your* play is a testament to just how amazing they are at this.
The actor of the Janitor, Martti Suosalo visited my job last week :D
Why?
You have a mission now
Oh no. We really are in Alan's story 😵💫
That's so cool ❤
I'm so grateful they did this. An homage to the first game but with so much flair and joy, and daring too. Remedy are one of the most innovative developers out there. Long live Sam Lake. Long live Alan Wake.
sam lake doing the dance and being the happiest person to ever exist is something beautiful
8:27
Birdy: is that it? :c
"But there is more to it than meets the eye"
I loved that part
I love the implication of the dark place here. Like sure it controls the story and where Alan goes. But sometimes the dark place just wants to let loose and go wild with music :D
Actually it was door who did that. As he said he wanted to make Alan happy at least for a while
Wasn't this one of the best gaming experiences you've ever had?? I replayed this whole section at least 3 times. The audio is SO good. The acting, dancing, sets, platforms, etc just wow. Creativity at its FINEST. your reaction was on point
And the action combat sequence too when you fight those Takens but with this music playing is so brutally awesome!
5:20 i always used to call games made by Remedy as art. and i am always repeating these words to everyone everywhere. very cool to see im not the only one seeing this as art, it really is.
sam lake, just like alan wake, is an artist. a genius one.
22:56 i guess you never played Control. it is made by the same devs and i really recommend it. actually the main protagonist of that game have some similarities of your looks lol. oh and this janitor Ahti is my favorite character from Control, he is one of a kind.
Anything that moves you is art. And this exceeds qualifications ❤
I KNEW I RECOGNISED THE BOSS THE BEST JANITOR IN THE WORLD
Game made as a nominee for potential GOTY. I definitely think it deserves it. I also think we are all Ahti singing this song whenever we can like we was lol.
As a guitar player these solos were just throwing me in and out of consciousness. I've never experienced anything like this in a video game and I probably never will again. Also, it's not put in there just to be a cool scene. It represents the darkness basically going against Alan Wake's hubris thinking he can escape and write himself out of the dark place. The dark presence basically was showing Alan Wake truly how little he knows and how powerful it is.
If you read the plot board underneath Alan Wake, the musical section. One of the first sentences is: "I had fooled myself into thinking I could control the story." So that was my interpretation anyway.
This ! Also when she’s idle and not moving , it seems like they recording so much of the guitarist just improvising for ever until she moves again and it goes to the next song secuences. That was so well done !
Holy shit that was one of the greatest moments in video game history. damn and i love Sam Lake, he realy deserves game of the year award. We can all see all the love and dedication the put on this one
My favorite part is when you ask where casey is, you wanna see him dance, not knowing he is right there to your right :D
You know the game is f-ing good when the player doesnt want to press their sprint button through a scene and doesnt want it to be over.
This was literally one of the best things I've experienced in gaming in years.
I love the small callback at the end with the janitor singing the song, same as how in Max Payne 2 that one janitor was singing "Late Goodbye"lol
this is the most unique thing i ever seen in a video game ever, this part is so good it brings joy just seeing this part.
I could listen to that jazz section all day haha, this part of the game is brilliant
a video game that stays true to itself, doesn't chase trends, no bullshit, while also not taking itself too seriously. This is my goty. Never change, Remedy and Sam Lake
This is officially my favorite game moment of all time! Going through final draft playthrough just to experience this again 🥰😅
This is why I love Remedy games. There's always at least one level heavily based on music, and it's amazing how they've progressed.
Alan Wake had a mission around the stage using the pyrotechnics to help fight the taken while music blares
Control has the Ashtray Maze
And then this one.
Some context to the ending: Ahti is the name of the pagan Finnish God of the Sea (think Poseidon), clearly a reference to him in Remedy's games. His "swedish brothers" are of course the viking gods of Asgard, a pantheon Finnish gods are not part of. The non-translated bits are inner dialogue, along the lines but not verbatim, a cheeky "Well damn. The boys really tweaked the music to the max this time, bloody hell".
Ahti Finnish Translation:
“Oh, that’s right now. Got the boys jank machines playing, damn it.”
This scene alone makes this goty for me
i loved every second playing this!! enjoyed your reaction very much! :)
I need a chapter selection in a future update to play this chapter over and over
Old Gods of Asgard -- I mean The Poets of the Fall -- are my favorite band. They have yet to release a bad song, and rock even in live performances like you would never believe.
In my opinion, THE greatest moment in video game history so far. I will be thoroughly outraged if AW2 doesn’t win a butt ton of awards. This is THE game of the DECADE. I really do not believe anyone will surpass this in a long, long time…
Ahti is friends with the Old Gods of Asgard in the Wake/Control setting. He outright tells Jesse this when handing her one of their songs ( _Take Control_ to be specific) on his Object of Power Sony Walkman to get her through her own musical mission in, well, _Control_ and clue her in on the final arc of her struggle just as _Herald of Darkness_ clues us in on Alan's finishing moves.
I liked your reaction and glimpse of your personality got yourself a new sub
Thank you! welcome in to the community 😊
My reaction was the same. This was amazing. I haven't seen such a game for 15 years. This was soooo great. And sometimes I couldn't understand, which was reality and another world
I didn't want this musical performance to be over either.
This game was badass. The musical was sick af, and the end at cauldera lake is amazing also
Sam Lake dancing made this 10x funnier. Weirdly enjoyable moment lol
I don't know who had more of a "wtf is going on" moment when this started between me or Alan. 30 seconds later i switched to "this is fkn awesome"!
An intricate masterpiece of a narrative and storyline will not be seen for decades to come
Sam Lake is insane. In the best way possible.
Something to Remember Alan wake 2 😂
And here am I watching your reaction again. Because it's cool to watch😁
this is such a well paced level that doesn't punish you if you linger to enjoy the music
Imagine getting a flare gun specifically for a level only to switch back to the inferior revolver
The flare gun is powerful and burns away the darkness pretty damn well... but it's easy to catch yourself in the area of effect and the ammo is more limited. It's all strategic.
Best moment of 2023 in my opinion.
You know it's a good day when you get music in any Remedy game. ^^ From Max Payne to Alan Wake to Control ("Take Control" is fire, thanks Ahti)... they and the Poets of the Fall/Old Gods of Asgard certainly know what they're doing. ^^ I'd argue that *no* other developer knows how to integrate music and sound into a game even a fraction of as well as they do.
Haven't gotten to play the game yet and I'm barely avoiding spoiling this part for myself. Sure looks like one of those moments in gaming we'll be seeing in "Best Moments" lists for years to come.
These kinds of experiences are gaming at its best. Love to see this kind of joyful reaction!
As I have said in straight renditions of this piece, "If you're going to put the MC on rails, you might as well do it with style!" Of course, I've also asserted that Sam Lake's coffee has been brewed using Lake water...
Im playing games on PC for over 25years now, and that was one of the best thinks i have ever seen.
Bonus points for production, not only crystal clear but very chill and easy for ears.
My reaction was exactly the same hahahah ''what is happening'' great reaction.
Its just sad that you cant replay this moment without starting over :(
this game is flawless, is a piece of art
This kind of music is quite nostalgic reminds me rock in early 2000s like Nightwish, Epica and Creed.
was funny watching you trying to figure it out and doing the same as me and probably everyone else while thinking wtf is going on haha
Every time that someone questions me if video games are art i will show then this part of this game.
I love the pure joy this part brought to all of us lol
this moment in the game blew my mind and I can't stop thinking about the musical 😂 I love it
You can tell they had so much fun making this game 😂
They're a really special studio.
yay! awesome reaction, hehe. nice cuts too! appreciate those.
Just finished playing the game yesterday. I absolutely loved it and this is one of my favourite moment in the game, The Musical.
Yooo I just noticed that the music moves with you, so if you stand there, the song won’t progress, that’s insane. Remedy never disappoints
The best part of why this works is that if this game had this scene as a simple cutscene of a regular late night talk show it would be panned as the most boring segment of the game.
Merci de m'avoir fait revivre ce moment ❤
That vocal is sooo nice
My favorite part in this game! I love how you can make the show as long as you want without it missing a beat.
It looks like the equivalent of the concert of the first game, but multiplied by 100
best in years what games can offer, this is so good 🥰
I swear you made the moment nicer xd
Finnish games are built different
This has such a great 80's vibe. Woo!
I really wish that i could have more save slot for me to replay all of those fantastic scenes
Best gaming moment ever, fun fact casey is sam lake the master mind behind this game
I love this comment, because when I played Max Payne in 2001 I somehow after that was so impressed with the game I managed to find out who Sam Lake was even back then. Then in Alan Wake 1 and Quantum Break and Control I fully knew he was the creative director in Remedy all along. It's no wonder all this amazing stuff keeps consistently coming in a huge part to this man.
He's got to win an award for an all time career at some point.
Love Sam Lake and his mind. Also hyped for Max Payne remake 👀
@@birdyrageBirdyrage, you are very pretty 😍
Old Gods of Asgard is good
Looks like the loading screen made the video and audio for climactic end desync lol.
Seems to be happening to a lot of people but it was a lot longer here
yeah that was unfortunate 🤔
I spent way too long in this section just wandering around watching the music show lol
19:17 "I know who the killer is...yes it could wait till morning."
🤌"🫰*🤌"🫰*🤌"🫰*
TP Vibes
This is so pure 😂
allan wake 2 we sing the music is banging
Control made me a fan of poets/old gods, just a awesome band
This part was so epic. No pun intended.
new registered from Brazil, nice channel!
Ilkka said it took only 2 days to film but it was going to get cut and Sam Lake fought to keep this in. Thank god he did. This is the best highlight of the game and the reason it won best game at the game awards.
I love Remedy's things like this since first Max Payne nightmare sequences and Baseball Bat Boy.
good to know i wasnt the only one to immediately recognize sam lake as max payne
3:29 this is why remedy entertainment is the goat
This part of the game is hilarious listening to the never ending song and visuals while fighting off shadow people 🤣🤣
this part is really a good surprise and amazing music
I'll take your video game and raise you a ROCK OPERA!
We have a masterpiece, game of the year
I've never seen the "That was pretty good" line... I've always seen "I didn't see that coming". Hm.
Wait where?
@@Snowpiercer2right before the jazz part. When Alan wakes up he says one of these three things :
"That was pretty good"
"That was... interesting"
"I didn't see that coming"
I loved that line! Alan sounded like he was as blown away as I was 🥰
@@yusufcanislam7500 That's an interesting thing for them to do rather than 1 set line.
@@yusufcanislam7500 Timestamp would be appreciated, I don't know what is the jazz part
I cried... literal fk'n tears... when I saw this 🥺😭❤️
I love the thought of this completely dead inside jaded washed up writer seeing himself doing this elaborate dance number and just thinking "ok yeah sure I guess I must have done that at some point"
Best part in the whole game and maybe my favorite gaming moment of the whole year. What a fantastic special game.
It's absurd how cool ART Poets of the Fall and Remedy can put together. Those guys have insane dynamics in their creations. Alan Wake's Old Gods of Asgard stage scene was really cool experience back then. Also Control's "Take Control" was incredible and now they really amped up the designs. I mean this scene is virtually flawless. Song is dynamic to player progression, it actually tells the story, is fun and hell they managed to insert musical into a friggin' game and did it so well that I highly doubt any game studio is going to pull off, unless Remedy and POTF team up again. Cool to see such a change in game, let alone Sami Järvi participating it himself. No Gabe Newell or others are going to pull such cool thing off EVER 😂
Pure 100% art.
What a great scene 🤩
