There was an explanation that made a lot of sense for the invisible walls. It was a compromise from the gaming design team to the art design team due to integrity of the sceneries. The best example is the scenery design itself, most of people first reaction about the game is that it looks so real. Then many players suffered from getting lost in the game like getting lost in woods or snow mountains of real life. However, putting a random obstacle like a boulder or tree trunk to block the path could potentially damage the completeness of the scene from the artistic standpoint, especially to the ones with keen eyes. So I guess it’s a you get some you lose some situation.

Idk why but I'm a 38 year old man and I teared when I watched this cinematic knowing Wukong is gone forever. :((((

I'm glad that you choose to take an easy to fight wukong again instead of starting NG+ after your first try beating 4 phases wukong in one go. Or you will miss out so many wukong awesome tricks.

Noooo the actual journey to the west happens over 500 years after you stopped reading the story in the beginning. Sun Wukong goes to two key places on his own before then: 1) the dragon palace under the sea to get his staff, 2) the heavenly palace where he wrecks everything. As punishment, Buddha buries him under a mountain for 500 years until Monk Tang frees him to be his bodyguard on his journey to India.
