I think this guy only focuses on hardcore PUNK, agnostic front, cromags and the whole NYHC scene tend to turn into Hardcore, and this Hardcore sounds different type of Hardcore, more breakdowns, slower and more aggresive music. And how he mention Traditional Hardcore (1980's ish) it tends to be more punk than more recent Hardcore (1990's) music

Well as an old fart who grew up in the 80's and 90's it used to be so much easier, back then it was garage rock, punk, post punk, harcore punk, hardcore, and then post hardcore, but now garage rock is proto punk, punk isn't punk unless its post Ramones and even then if its too complex or not distorted enough its art punk (even though punk magazine, who started the label punk, predates the Ramones), post punk is synth electronica, hardcore punk is 100 different genre's, hardcore same as hardcore punk, and post hardcore has also become 100 different genre's including some like grunge and desert rock which were scenes not musical genres. I also find it funny that you speak of the ethics of hardcore, more like the ethics of DC and Berkley (which is more in line to what you described), the ethics and politics from one scene to the next could be and quite often were very different (leading to lots of fights in the crowd and outside venues), 80's hardcore and punk was very very far from being some homogeneous scene, especially when the asshole straight edgers came around beating up anyone they suspected of being intoxicated at all, including often times females, in fact they would usually target women over men. Yes thats what straight edgers did, beat people up who were intoxicated, they were bigger assholes than the skinheads or the junkies. You don't mention all the racist either (a lot of them were straight edge), I guess they didn't exist, I guess they didn't show up to shows picking fights, they had those hardcore ethics and would never do that, since hardcore had one set of ethics and politics according to this video. This crib notes guide to hardcore is big pile of over simplified dogshit.

Zero mention of the hardcore punk explosion that happened globally outside of the USA at or around the same time. Japan, all over Europe and Latin America, and the only mentioning Discharge with the UK. All these places had a wealth of top tier quality hardcore bands with extremely dynamic sounds and aesthetics. Also no a word of the current gigantic more traditional hardcore punk network blossoming on a similar underground status as the early days. So many incredible bands. Bummer to not have that touched.

Metalcore and crossover thrash bands today are commonly become the gate for new dude into hardcore music. Which is sometimes when I talk to younger dude about hardcore music they seems don't have the same understanding in music with me. It's just way too metal for me since they are more familiar with metal music than punk rock music as I do. So they think if I was listen to the wrong hardcore bands. Lol 😂

These days Metal Heads are a bunch of sissy’s but metal in the first place is what made hardcore go past the whole suburban bs like Bad Religion or Descendents.
