    Slayer does have a bit of crossover with Metallica and Megadeth. Besides Kerry King briefly joining Megadeth, some of the band's style was influenced from watching Metallica perform with Mustaine live. All 3 bands also started in California, which makes Anthrax stand out a bit as they started off in New York.

    • @13JDOG666
      @13JDOG666 10 месяцев назад +7

      Not just California, but Southern California. Specifically Los Angeles. Slayer and Metallica formed in Huntington Park and Downey, respectively, which are nearby cities in Southeast LA.

    • @metalben005
      @metalben005 8 месяцев назад +2

      Fun fact, Kill Em All was actually recorded in New York. Anthrax and Metallica kinda started in the same place. They shared a building where they would jam and write.

    • @13JDOG666
      @13JDOG666 8 месяцев назад +2

      @metalben005 Yeah Jon Zazula of Megaforce Records, which is a New York label, wanted to record their first album so Metallica drove a U-Haul from California to New York to do it. It was supposed to be recorded in Los Angeles on Metal Blade but Brian Slagel didn't have the bread so they went with Megaforce instead. Kill Em All was already written before they left. They lived at various peoples places and Anthrax let them stay in their rehearsal space while they were there. They didn't know each other before then.
      Metallica had 2 demos and a song on the first Metal Massacre comp, had played dozens of shows, and had already opened for Saxon long before Kill Em All.
      They're not even close to starting in the same place. Metallica is Southern California and Anthrax is New York. The only commonality in the early days was Megaforce.

    7:43 I'm gonna be honest, I knew little to nothing about Anthrax and didn't really have much interest in them... then earlier this year I saw them live because they were co-headlining with Black Label Society, and they blew me away.
    Among The Living and Worship music quickly became albums I obsessed over, lol

      Basically verifiably true, if you have even a remote semblance of a musical ear.
      Even after he got kicked, you can plainly and painfully hear a TON of "Mustaine" riffs in RTL and MoP

      The only thing they did properly was credit him for songwriting, which meant he would get a check from time to time from Metallica that would let him pay the Megadeth guys. So while it was a shit move on Metallica's part, he at least got paid. And for those of us that would read the album notes cover to cover repeatedly, it piqued interest about who is this Mustaine guy? And then you would find out he was in a new band, cool have to check that out.

    Anthrax was from NY, which is why they were more familiar with the hip hop scene, as they all played the same clubs. They were also the least serious of the Big 4, so mixing genres was no big deal to them and their fans.
