      The last navigator I personally drove brand new and used was the third generation the 2007 to 2017 model Year.
      😊 The two I drove only had the 5.4 l slow ass V8 lol But their quality was so low it felt so cheap inside and I drove one with less than 200 mi and it was quiet and comfy but you could still feel the cheapness and that engine couldn't move itself out of the way lol I drove the second one that had 45,000 miles and it felt like a 400,000 mi Grand caravan from the year 2000 lol lol lol

    I live in the UK, but it seems to me that the American car makers are back. The fact that you can get big luxury well-made vehicles like this with a reliable V6 or V8, the likes of the new Corvette in every imaginable configuration, a minimalist highly-efficient Tesla or a more old-school luxury Rivian, as well as your GM, Ford, Mopar any way you like it, why would you buy European, Japanese, or Korean, let alone Chinese?
    When I worked in America in the mid-90s, I wanted a slice of the American dream. At that time you could get a pony car from approx. 14 grand with a V6. IIRC, a Camaro V6 with T-tops was $14,600. That was about half the price of the cheapest equivalent import. Of course, back then almost everyone drove American, especially in Michigan where I lived, and to Americans a V6 pony car was nothing special. But, to me, it was a slice of the American dream. And it's really not a bad thing that you're driving a popular model. I've learned that unless you drive a truly rare car, when driving you tend to notice other examples of whatever you're driving all the time.
    Here in the UK, most people desire a German car -- an Audi, BMW, or Mercedes -- or a Land Rover/Range Rover. And the fact that many can afford the monthly payments means that you see them everywhere. They are not rare, yet people still desire them. Here in London, and a few other parts of the country, super cars are also quite commonplace. They are not a rare sight like they once were, yet people still desire them.
    Consequently, rarity does not equate to desirability -- there are many rare cars that are rare because they're undesirable -- and demonstrably, desirability does not equate to rarity.
    When in America, buy American! Long live the American car industry! I know the industry is in trouble, but if it gets back to offering what the market wants, not what 'central planners' want it to offer, the industry will regain its power, and the people will regain their power, too.

    The key pad means you can lock the vehicle with the keys in it (under the mat for a mechanic) or in the center console if, for example, you go swimming and won't have any secure place to put your keys - sure beats stuffing your keys in your shoe. Also really handy when you go out to the car to get something and you left you keys in your purse in the house.
    All the plastic engine covers do is give the mice a nice place to build nests.

    I absolutely love how Lincoln didn't fall into the trap that other luxury automakers did with regards to the controls for things like climate control, audio volume, and others you'll use all the time while driving. A screen looks cleaner but buttons are more luxurious IMO. The one thing a luxury vehicle needs to do is make driving as clam, relaxing, and effortless as possible. It's extremely easy for the buttons to become muscle memory after only a short time owning a vehicle which makes using those controls much less stressful than in cars that integrate them into the main display.

    20k of the Cybertruck was to be a beta tester. Another 20k was for the unnecessary stainless body. 60k is more in line with where the Cybertruck should be.

    • @nigel.w
      @nigel.w 4 месяца назад +1

      IMO, the coolness of the Cybertruck is its design. I agree the stainless body is unnecessary, but still somewhat cool. Stainless could have been standard on the top model only, and an option on lower spec models. And, let's face it, you could achieve a similar space age look with paint, which would have dramatically reduced development and tooling costs. It's design should be inexpensive to make, but the stainless steel construction has worked against the design simplicity. The added weight has also compromised its efficiency and range.
      I also think the OTT power is unnecessary. If you could buy a Cybertruck with impressive but not OTT power from 40 grand, like originally promised, even without the ss body, IMO it would sell like hot cakes, and would be a real market disruptor. Unfortunately, a lot of the Cybertruck's wow factor has been eroded by showing it five years before producing it.
      Personally, I'm a fan of the design, but not of the implementation. The end product does not live up to the promise. And IMO, Tesla when realizing it could not deliver the promise, prioritized the wrong things, like the ss body.

    • @donschiffer7400
      @donschiffer7400 4 месяца назад +1

      @@nigel.w I’m a fan of the tech, the design is opinion. But that stainless is a massive expense. Not due to material cost but because of the tooling needed to make it work. So it makes zero sense on any level.
      If you took everything in the cybertruck and built it with the Rivian or Ford body style, it could have been done for 55-60k.
      I would also point out that the Tesla model of ripping off early adopters then dropping the price when sales dip, is idiotic.
      They did this with the 3 and Y and people to this day think they are overpriced even though they aren’t far off from a well equipped Camry or RAV4.
      But they can’t price it competitively because they can’t build them fast enough due to Elons hubris, demanding this design and material be used, engineering be damned.

    The Navigator is really nice. Got to ride in one recently and it brought back good memories of the cars my grandparents had in the late 70s and early 80s. That is not a bad thing and the Navigator is miles beyond those cars in power and handling (for a car the size of my first apartment).

    The other consideration for buying an SUV over a sedan is that it's a lot harder to get down into the sedan as you get older.
    As for the cigarette lighter: radar detectors, dash cameras, etc usually come with that style power cord.

    Just like the Cadillac Escalade , the Lincoln Navigator is generally the favorite vehicle of rappers and gangsters as well as younger people who want luxury . So I don't know what Hoovie's talking about , that it appeals to older people because of having a lighter in it . I don't think I have ever seen any older people driving these Navigators . In fact , since they appeal to rappers , plenty of them smoke , and I don't mean cigarettes .
