Freiburger did an anouncement on his channel. I thought something was in the wind when he started doing RUclips content. It's got to be hard for someone with that long of a career with MotorTrend to not be with them anymore. It's not like they can go back to magazine work as it really doesn't exist. Still hard core fans will be with them on their various channels. It was sad when their bosses took them off of RUclips but when you are an employee the person paying the bills dictates.
I remember when Roadkill went to the paywall motertrend. I said take my money and it was geolocked to the USA. So that was that could not watch or pay to watch so it was a lost customer....
I'm legitimately surprised to see y'all talk about roadkill on here. Ever so happy to see it, though. RIP to Roadkill. I've been subbed to Finn and Fry for years anyway.
The draw for the motor trend app was Top Gear reruns and the commercial free live streaming. When they dropped Top Gear the app went to crap then they merged the app with Discovery+ they dropped the live streaming. I’d rather pay the $5 a month to watch commercial free content then watch the TV channel
Roadkill lost its fans when it moved its roadkill series to Motortrend on demand and became paid to watch. Even if it was $1 a month, people will not pay. The convenience of watching Roadkill on RUclips was lost. Soon other channels took their place, and Roadkill became history years ago. Samcrac, Vicegrip garage, Cleetus McFarland, Mattsoffroad garage, GoonzSquad etc. picked up the viewers in a heartbeat. Time for Fridburger and the other guy to make a channel together.
Funny, I quit TV in recent months in favor RUclips content. Unlike traditional television, I can watch what I want, when I want, pause and do whatever I need to do, and come right back and pick up where I left off. Goodbye TV.

Lots of kids would watch this and see some good tips and tricks as well as getting kids into cars. By switching over they alienated their audience. I do not feel sorry for RK or MT.
Just more proof that Warner Brothers have really dropped the ball in recent years. I used to watch it all the time and now hardly watch it. The shark was jumped when it became the MotorTrend Channel. Roadkill was overplayed and ruined the channel. Most programs were reruns from MotorTrend+ streaming channel. Plus most programs were nowhere as good as what was on pre-MotorTrend. Who wants to watch shows that are two years old.
Never looked back when many shows I was watching on RUclips went to "exclusive" platforms. Roadkill was one of them. Im not paying 30 different platforms to consume content.
The only reason I have dementia is by watching your other channel. But you do add the disclaimer of "the dumbest automotive channel on youtube". Just pulling your leg. Love your stuff.
I saved Hoovie money, I probably paid for one light fixture on the house. When his show went to MT, I stated I was not going to pay. Hoovie offered to pay, I said no. That payment with interest paid for a farm house light fixture. YOUR WELCOME 😂
F Motortrend. I've been saying it for a long time. These guys catered to the American V8. Favored to content that was for a dying breed. Even on a magazine base they hailed anything with an American V8 as god tier, and gave favorable reviews to anyone having a flagship muscle car coming out so they didn't get denied early access to it. So they deserve the self inflicted wounds. I know you had your shows there and may look at it a bit differently than I, but I mean, I've been into compact cars/imports etc since before fast and the furious (a movie that did more damage than good to the scene). I'm pretty used to seeing what I'm interested in get passed over because 'Murica! However, if you take a look at the Hagerty channel, you'll find they have the PERFECT blend of automotive coverage. And shows like Barn Find Hunter are done so well that even cars I'm not interested in generally, I still watch. And although I'm not big on Larry Chins personality (his photography is killer though), he does produce a good show that I'll occasionally watch.
I'm not surprised. There is just SO MUCH excellent content on RUclips and the choice to discover and watch (almost ANYTHING) you want to watch, whenever and wherever you want to. TV has been dead to me for 10 years. RUclipsrs are getting better and more professional too. SO MANY great channels... and then some!
Some things never change, April remains absolutely gorgeous and fun and well, that doesn’t change however there is great sadness in that there is no Lamborghini in the background any longer
I officially hung up cable a year ago. Hardly noticed. It has that feeling of when Blockbuster died. It was sad to see it go but I also wasn't using it.
Very jealous, in high-school I would look out the window of the school bus and wine like a dog when we went by the Ford dealership which had a 2004 Graber Blue Mustang Mach 1.
Hoovie do you remember Next Gen when Data said, " TV did not last much past the 21st Century," I think that is coming to pass and soon there will be no broadcast or cable TV everything will be online just like newspapers it will delivered to you inbox, not your door.
roadkill was a completely unwatchable in it's predictability of, break car, fix car, and had a stupid premise, throwing money at questionable cars for questionable goals.
Who has time to sit and watch TV? Something like RUclips is so much more flexible. When motor trend TV and all this other nonsense was created and I remember the uproar when roadkill left RUclips. It was just such a stupid plan
It’s also curious that Roadkill Garage, Roadworthy Rescues & others from MT showed up on Tubi right before this news broke. No Roadkill but a lot of them.
Motor Trend has been running endless re-runs for months. It's super obvious that these "cable" channels are being replaced by streaming like RUclips, and Motor Trend won't/can't invest in new content.
I quit paying for cable/internet long ago. Why would pay to watch advertisements and internet providers track everything Makes no sense I wouldn’t use if they paid me to.
Motor trend is a relic of the mid 20th century and independent youtubers can do what motortrend did better. They had some good shows but that talent can do it solo, if they need a corporate daddy, they can just go the hagerty they seem to be doing a good job.
I must make a comment to your studio setup. You always had such a nice backdrop on GMYT. Now it's simply a white wall. In a corner I can barely recognize some cars and two bright yellow flaps (please remove those - eben if it is a lot of work). Or simply place the camera further to the left, so we can see all of the nice cars in the back. Even better if all obstructions by the railing and the halo lights above the bugatti are not as prominently visible. Just some ideas ... please keep up the work! I love your channel(s).
Motortrend TV has too many shows starring scruffy people banging on old heaps in dirty garages. They dropped interesting shows like Car Issues, Wheeler Dealers, Chasing Classic Cars, etc. Their magazine has gone from monthly issues to 4 issues per year while simultaneously their content has seriously declined - my wife used to say that she was a Motortrend widow on the day that the magazine showed up in the mailbox - I would spend hours reading it from cover to cover. I would even keep some back issues that were especially interesting. I dropped my subscription when I realized that I was only spending 10 to 15 minutes reading it before it went straight into the recycle bin.
Discovery+ when I went to resubscribe after a few months(Finding out that doing it through MT was no longer an option) to watch some new Roadkill was over twice the price of what MT had been. That surely didn't help. A lot of people would hate to spend $4 or $5/mo even to just get one new episode of the show they like per month.
This is so sad. Their Saturday morning shows, mostly started with shows on TNN in the 80s. Stacy David's "Gears" came out of TNN. Unless these weekend "Shadetree Mechanic" type shows, which was the title of one of TNNs gearhead weekend shows, migrate to RUclips, they will all just disappear.
I worked for 5 years on a History Channel show. We haven't filmed in 15 months. But its not "canceled". 50 people on set some days. That's alot of jobs.
Yall are the best, but suggestion to Bring the camera up on a taller tripod and angle it down. Show the cars! More interesting lighting. It’s a downgrade from the old set.
Most people have given up on cable TV a long time ago. The young man that installed my internet in my house 7 years ago says he doesn't even have cable tv from his own company.
Call me a cheapskate but when shows that I watched went to subscription-based Motortrend I stopped watching. I was already paying too much for TV and the thought of shelling out more money just didn’t sit well with me. Since then I canceled cable and am now catching up on what I missed by streaming them. RIP Motortrend.
They had good shows on RUclips before and got greedy with subscription only. I used to watch Roadkill and Head2Head. Lucky for us at that time Jason Camisa went to Hagerty, and it looks he's doing fine, also Randy went there.
When they sold to Discovery I got told I couldnt have a MTOD account anymore and they cancelled the account, then I got 3 emails saying they were sorry I cancelled my account and was there a reason?
Their biggest failing was crapping up the free offerings on the app. Also no comments no feedback. Made all the shows trash and over produced. GoPros and maybe 1 dedicated camera man. Roadkill Garage revealed just how trash MT production was they would 8 and skate and the guys would work off camera all night. Need a night shift.
The problem with Motortrend programming is that their seasons for most shows are very short, like 8-12 episodes. The network is constantly showing tons of reruns, it's not that they don't get views its that there's nothing to watch. Then they sprinkle in some new episodes but nobody knows about them and eventually stream them. The shows are actually good, they just need to be on a platform where people are already watching. Some shows like Roadkill or Roadworthy Rescues are actually pretty accessible for casual viewers, they would do well on Discovery. If they did, though, they'd probably need to do 24 episodes a year and I'm not sure the guys involved would want to do that. Derek Bieri makes a ton of money on RUclips I don't think he'd want to give that up for a TV show.
We love April's Garage, April is slamming it. Hoovie you need some work, but that Bugatti Veyron looks sweet in the back ground (Better then the Lambo!).
The Roadkill guys were very open that they never agreed to be removed from YT. They agreed to the motortrend move but the YT remove happened years later against their wishes.
Yeah I thought something was up, vgg had been pushed back till December I swear he'd said July or such for his show. Guess we'll see. RUclips killed motor trend.
Reason why WB is killing stuff like that is cuz they tried to pander to the "modern audience" and made flops after flop trying to do it, which lead them to losing LOTS of money and they have to cut somewhere. Supposedly, they are over trying to pander to an audience that is like 1% or less of the general populace, but who know if that's the truth.
I am Ambidextrous, I watch TV streaming and UTube. Motortrend had 10s of millions of subscribers, at around $5 a month. I would have thought it was very profitable
I need more watch hours to get my channel monetized. I’m not as good as these two though. I do have my wife on my channel in voice only. She doesn’t want to be recognized. She’s a cutie though!!
No love from me. When they moved RK under a paywall, I stopped caring. Makes sense, MT’s dying. I let my magazine subscription expire after they changed the format awhile back.
I’ve never watched motortrend. It’s ridiculous how many platforms you have to subscribe to for maybe a few things you might watch every once in a while.
Motortrend died long ago, they just didn’t know it
Yepp, like when they turned their backs to the youtube audience.

Just wanted to say I enjoy the show and keep up the good work.
Can we have Steve Magnante on this show please?
May we all find a super model😅
Hoovie has no idea how many RUclips viewers are over 50.
"Jake Paul beat up an old man" 😂😂😂💯💯💯
We love April's Garage, April is slamming it. Hoovie you need some work, but that Bugatti Veyron looks sweet in the back ground (Better then the Lambo!).
The Roadkill guys were very open that they never agreed to be removed from YT. They agreed to the motortrend move but the YT remove happened years later against their wishes.
The constant repeats of some of their shows pushed me away. How many times can you watch the same shows over and over again?
Yeah I thought something was up, vgg had been pushed back till December I swear he'd said July or such for his show. Guess we'll see. RUclips killed motor trend.
Graveyard Carz, Mark Worman does his own production as Courtney Hansen.
Camera guy loves a lot of headroom when he frames these shots, just like in the old space lol
I am Ambidextrous, I watch TV streaming and UTube. Motortrend had 10s of millions of subscribers, at around $5 a month. I would have thought it was very profitable
It's never profitable when you use "Hollywood Accounting".
Sad story.
There's still an entire season that hasn't aired yet... According to David, It's going to be aired next year.
I’ve never watched motortrend. It’s ridiculous how many platforms you have to subscribe to for maybe a few things you might watch every once in a while.
The only good news is that Car Issues is on Max.
