Hey Doc, I have been using Soframycin antibacterial eye drops 3 times a day for 2 years now, which contains BAK. I was pretty shocked to hear that long-term BAK exposure is damaging to the eye. I stopped using the soframycin drops a month ago and switched to optimel manuka honey drops, which are BAK free but also contain benzoic acid as a preservative. What damage may I have done to my eyes with the BAK, can I heal from it, and is the optimel manuka honey drops a good alternative even with the benzoic acid? Thank you in advance. This video may have saved my eyes.
I've been using the visited dry eye drops!!, I wish I had found your videos sooner !!, I'm going to switch eye drops asap!!, hopefully my eyes will return to normal and heal from the preservatives of my previous eye drops!!

Organic(cold process/hexane FREE) Castor oil (1 drop every night before bed) has done wonders for my eyes! I could tell a difference the very next morning from the first use, my eyes felt less dry/irritated than usual all day! Castor oil is anti-inflammatory, deeply moisturizing, it is full of antioxidants & has antibacterial properties. The Refresh (preservative-free) is amazing for the daytime=) My eye doctor wasn't too thrilled with my castor oil experiment, but he agrees- the results are irrefutable & my eyesight has even improved! There is a double-blind study (in India I believe) that yielded some amazing results for the majority of participants. I've been so miserable (MGD & severe dry eyes from LASIK), apparently castor oil balances the lash biome & helps dissolve plugs within the glands. I also use 1 drop & massage the entire eye area (top/bottom) gently, then I use a hot pack eyemask (leave on 15 min or until I roll over in my sleep & it falls off). Not sure if the hotpack may be helping the castor oil work better? It feels amazing & I no longer use eye cream at night since the castor oil has nearly eliminated any fine lines=) Castor oil is thick & will blur the vision for a couple minutes which is why I do it right before bed. If my eyes are super dry I will use saline drops first & castor oil a few seconds later. Hope this info is helpful to someone who is suffering. NOTE - if you suffer from dry eyes & are constantly using drops you might consider preservative-free. I was actually in pain my eyes were so dry & I ended up using my regular drops WAY too much (probably 1/2 a bottle in one day) I had an allergic reaction to the preservative that made my eyes MORE DRY & that night had corneal erosions (super painful) in both eyes, needless to say, that affected my vision (caused light sensitivity). I am thankful that is all healed now my eyes are 98% normal/healthy (after about a year of getting my glands expressed every 2-3 weeks + daily hot packs). If you have major dry eyes, DO NOT IGNORE it; SEE a DOCTOR ASAP before you cause yourself big problems...
You are so professional, I had an accident about 2 months ago, I was on my bicycle and a tree branch hit my eye. No blood, thought nothing of it, felt like something was stuck in my eye. A week later when not getting better I got worried, so went to get it checked. The doctor put something in my eye and did a test with microscope, said there was nothing in there...now a few weeks later, this thing is coming back ;( I think it's a recurring corneal erosion. Will this ever heal, I'm really worried and the doctors over here in Thailand are mostly clueless..
I'd never use over the counter eye drops. The eye is too dear to me and it is by far the most complicated organ in our body. I used prescription eye drops: durezol and prednisolone (after surgical treatment). During pandemic a shortage of eye dropps occured. Anyways, I consulted with a dry eye specialist by the referrence from my ophthalmologist. The reason of my eye driness in big part is the preservative. I used some eye drops without a preservative. But any such eye drop is weaker than durezol. I was prescribed durezol as one of the very limited options to raise eye pressure. After consultation with my ophthalmologist I decided to stop using any eyedrops because they keep drying my eye (durezol is still not avail in my local pharmacy). Doc, is it really so hard to raise eye pressure artificially if naturally it doesn't? I still have my eye filled with silicon oil until the pressure restores.
I used Clear Eyes for years then bought Rohto eye drops last year. Never again. I experience it burning in my eyes. I will try one of your recommended dry eye drops in one of your other videos. Protase. Thanks Doctor Tai
I used all the expensive drops it don’t work now since I got cornea surgery. The doctor who did the surgery fyck up my eyes it’s still painful. Thank you, Dr. Tai. I just disposed both bottles of Rohto Digi-Eye I recently purchased. Didn't much like it any way. I'll pick up some of your recommended less toxic drops. I'm 70 and my eyesight is still very good and I'd like to keep in that way. Thanks again!!
I just got my first Bausch and Lomb "Bio True" and the packaging claims no preservatives. I of course didn't believe it and went over the ingredients using my handy cheap magnifying glass and didn't see BAK listed.
I have had minor symptoms of blepharitis (minor crusting and flaking on the inner and outer corners of my eyelids) in the past few months. I watched your other video recently and have concluded that maybe the eye drops I've been using (Refresh plus and Systane) are causing it, (maybe an allergy to the preservative in these) so I've switched to the Refresh Digital PF. I also use a warm compress one or two times a day. I'm hoping that switching to a preservative free eyedrop will clear it up. Thank you for your very informative videos
I have been using Lubimoist eyedrops for 7 months (twice a day for 6 months and once a day this month) I was advissd to use for 3months before cataract surgery but since surgery is postponed it is continued. Please suggest

Hi, I ran out of my normal brand of dry eye drops and I decided to try something new because when I went to the store they were all sold out. The brand I tried was refresh omega 3 lubricant worse mistake I ever made it started hurting my eyes so bad I wake up with sharp pain in and behind my eyes ever since. I do not recommend this brand. I usually use the systane preservative free drops original. Is there anything you recommend or any ideas what oils of caused this immediately after that eye drop thanks so much
My Equate drops use Glycerin and Polypropylene glycol, which seem good according to your standards, but it has BAK as a preservative, so I'll stop using it daily. When it's used up, I'll find one that's a lesser-known (less expensive) brand than the big ones, but uses the ingredients you recommend. Thanks!
Is CATIONORME safe for my case: I had undergone Phacoemulsification procedure n 2014. I have been using it since d last two years after my Opthalmologist diagnosed me wd Macular Degeneration.
You say NOT 3 drops. I use Equate Eye Drops; and I use 2 drops once a day around 7:00 AM. What do you think about that? Please tell me. I am a 92 yrs old man....
I've been using the Optase products you recommended in a previous video. I've had better luck with those products than with anything else I've tried, including the product that my Eye Doctor Recommended ... a company located in France and with active recalls.

I don't understand how some of these eye drops stay on the shelves of stores as popular leading brands if they are that harmful. For example, most of the Visine selection. Is the research just slow to catch up? Or is it just that the population does not know and continues buy, while the seller does not care, continuing to offer a product that has been proven harmful? When you buy some of these boxes they say on the side '60 days of use' as if it's intended to be used consecutively for 60 days straight (up to 4 times a day).
I use blink is that a bad one? After so many years of using it because my ophthalmologist told me to an allergist/ immunologist told me I was allergic to glycol, hexyl and ethanol so now I’m reading labels on everything I use and take and blink has 400 0.25% glycol . I have to mention that I have autoimmune immune disease and that’s why I saw the allergist, hair loss, broken bleeding skin, shedding skin , burning rash and scabs on scalp. 😢
Sorry doc thanks for info re dry eyes drops not to b used .I am allergic to most drops eye drops because of preservatives in them .I am on Hylo forte at present soothing just tew minutes then bk to irritations again .Is it the salt content in it???? Thank you aa
I have severe watery eyes for years . wear bausch and lam currently wear soft contacts. I I Am thinking of going back to gas perms. What are your thoughts , or if someone knows a link for me. ❤
You need to keep your posts up to date. I have a box of 30 vials of Soothe that state in large letters that they have NO preservatives. If you look at the ingredients, there are NO preservatives. This video should be deleted and/or replaced by a more up to date one.
I discovered Retaine MGD. it's the only one that really relieves the dry stinging in my left eye without having to put in drops every hour. I use it only a few times a day. My eye doctor also prescribed Restasis but it's not effective by itself on my pesky left eye.
Dear mam i have eye problem now .. itching eye and always crying my eye.. near sidness problem also .. now i fell not focused my eye proper .. so how i do .. i am very confused
Hey thanks so much cause I have use them all just about at some time Now just purchase this product blink and by your video I was able to look for the ingredients to avoid maybe you can see if this is ok I see that it has Boric Acid in it.. 😮
I finally found the BEST eye drops for me, both effective, and NOT the least bit irritating to my eyes. That product, made by Alcon, is called GenTeal tears.
Some years ago an eye specialist advised me to splash cold water in my eyes when I get up from sleep the first thing daily. Few years later an eye Surgeon advised me the same after his surgery. Upto today I being an old man still do not have dry eye problem.

I was using visine red eye once a while but I am not going to use them any more
Was surprised with the Visene family.
What about these ingredients?

Washing the eyelid area really well helps to heal dry eyes every medicine I have ever tried made the problem worse the problem is that your lashes are clogged and washing is a cure not a band-aide

Is there anything you recommend or any ideas what oils of caused this immediately after that eye drop thanks so much
*Sorry mistake not oils I meant to to say what could of caused this
But this in America 🇺🇸 not Australia we use Systane
Thank you! I will definitely steer away from these eye drops.
Thanks!
My eyes are dry are we allowed to use Hyco san extra eye drops ( the package is red)

Eyes" I'm a type 2 diabetic. My current optamolgist advised me that I may have to have cateract surgery once he gets the swelling down . My retina condition is Diabetic related. Now I have cateracts. !

Thanks
I use blink is that a bad one? After so many years of using it because my ophthalmologist told me to
an allergist/ immunologist told me I was allergic to glycol, hexyl and ethanol so now I’m reading labels on everything I use and take and blink has 400 0.25% glycol .
I have to mention that I have autoimmune immune disease and that’s why I saw the allergist, hair loss, broken bleeding skin, shedding skin , burning rash and scabs on scalp. 😢
Thank you Dr. Audrey.
Thank you! I don’t use any of these!
Thank you doctor for your informative videos.
What is your opinion about daily use of ‘pataday’ drops?
I'm currently using liquid MSM eye drops to relieve my 'dry eye'. I noticed that my "floaters" have gone away?
I just checked my cabinet. Horror: I got Visine Red Eye TOTAL COMFORT mentioned by you. I guess I’ll have to get rid of it!

Dr is Systane Complete eye drop a good one to use?
You can check out this video which covers Systane complete and other recommended eye drops ruclips.net/video/xP-cgGWOq9s/видео.html
You need to keep your posts up to date. I have a box of 30 vials of Soothe that state in large letters that they have NO preservatives. If you look at the ingredients, there are NO preservatives. This video should be deleted and/or replaced by a more up to date one.
The Soothe product I reviewed in this video is specifically the Soothe XP lubricant eye drop, not all of the Soothe eye drops contain preservatives.
I discovered Retaine MGD. it's the only one that really relieves the dry stinging in my left eye without having to put in drops every hour. I use it only a few times a day.
My eye doctor also prescribed Restasis but it's not effective by itself on my pesky left eye.
Why is the FDA approving of eyedrops that are harmful?
I found nothing helpfull in the video.

I don't have any experience with it, so I don't specifically recommend it. The ingredients listed for the drop seem acceptable.
Hey thanks so much cause I have use them all just about at some time
Now just purchase this product blink and by your video I was able to look for the ingredients to avoid maybe you can see if this is ok I see that it has Boric Acid in it..
I have used most of them in the past & when I used them they did not help.😢
I am looking 4word 2 knowing all the good eye drops
