I was born a freckled child in a land far away during a much simpler time. I did well in school until it counted. As a freshman in high school I had dreams of going to Notre Dame and becoming a lawyer. By the time I was sophomore I was taking shop class and was considering getting into construction. I ended up working in warehousing and unloading trucks. Other than stand up, that job was the most fun I ever had.
I am now a stand up comedian. I do a couple hundred shows a year. And I enjoy the travel. I’ve done four hour-long stand-up specials: “Why Do I Do This”, “Let It Go”, “You People Are All The Same” and “I’m Sorry You Feel That Way.” I host a podcast each week called The Monday Morning Podcast. And I have an animated series on Netflix called: ‘F’ Is For Family.’ Occasionally I act in movies but only when they let me.

of course, what bill burr missed was that Saitama himself got bargain crab in that same episode. The man that turn into a crab wasn't rich. That was the point. He was low to middle class. He turned into a crab because that's all he bought. Most of the monsters that was human were low-to-middle class. In all my years of Bill Burr fandom, can't say I ever expected this.
Bills mind is so advanced he can connect the dots between anime and real life.
*symbolism*
I love that about him. He’s so wide ranging.
Well I don’t know if the creation and the symbolism of One Punch Man is man is that deep, but It is an interesting analysis. And you know, people make interesting analysises about movies and tv shows all the time. You know the film Invasion Of The Body Snatchers? Not the remakes with Daniel Craig, Meg Tilly and Donald Sutherland, but the very original one from the 50s, a lot of people have analyzed the film with the stripping away of individuality and the emotionless conformity of the pod people alien in the film reflecting American views about life under communism in the Soviet Union. Keep in mind when the movie came out, it was 1956, and at the time, Russia was a very scary place for most Americans, mainly due to McCarthyism and the ongoing Cold War. So to make that comparison make sense, but most people don’t look into that deeply.
Shit. Probably the best anime review I've ever heard :D

Lol man bill burr coming in with the deep insight of one punch man. I'll never look that show the same after listening to this I'll always be looking for some deeper meaning lmao.
Honestly didnt read as much into it as him and ive rewatched 3 times
Well it doesn't even really mean that, it just symbolises into what he sees, for him and who ever look at it the same way
I don't know how anyone could manage to not see what Saitama represents at the very least. The monsters require more interpretation (besides the environmental one, that was obvious).
Genos is a great example of something that has probably happened to most of us, which is looking up to a role model and trying super hard to emulate them and please them, only to find out that they're not what we expected.
His perspective on Crab Lante was mind opening.
the show is very meaningfull, all the enemies, and actions people take and how they behave, is a representation of real life. not that it's super deep or anything, but its meaningful

An English dub has been released now. You might have looked before that came out.
Ghassan B bill made me try anime. I watched the first episode of one punch and I thought it wasn't half bad. I'll be watching more very soon.
As a longtime anime watcher, I instantly recognized the parodies relating to Shonen animes and anime in general, but the social commentary stuff I honestly never noticed, but I think Bill is spot on with his interpretations. This is why I always tell people anime is more like a medium than a genre, there are consistent gimmicks that crop up in most anime, but there's more than likely at least ONE anime that you'd love. My brother actively avoided anime for the longest until he saw just one episode of Attack on Titan. He's now more into anime than I am.
I like how one punch man is so good someone like bill, who you’d never think would watch an anime in 1000 years, can not only enjoy the show and relate to its themes, but provide a fresh perspective and analysis on it. Really shows how good the show is how it reaches out to so many different people. I’m also curious to know what he thought about the rest of the series.
Very true
Anime isn't exactly a niche nowadays... of course he's watched an anime, most millennials at least have at some point. Weebism is relatively mainstream now.
Probably research for his own animated series.

@Hotsam Noirchards try being an anime fan in india while living in a rural area it's horrible.
Well, I thought Bill was my favorite comedian, now it's one of my favorite people I don't know personally.
I would pay to watch anime with Bill, and hear his commentary
Bill Burr once told his good friend and "the funniest guy I ever saw" Patrice ONeal that "Patrice talking to himself in the shower would be a comedy CD". Like Patrice was that funny with everything. Bill's approaching his late friend in that regard
What I hate is how so many people feel the need to be either like "I love all anime" or "I hate all anime" like there is no in-between. There are a lot of people who ignore anime entirely because of the stigma surrounding it. You can try anime shows just like any other tv show; you like some and you don't like others, and you can still watch other non-anime tv shows because that's what they are: tv shows.
I guess my main point is that it's nice to see somebody who watches a show, likes it, tells people about it, and then when people freak out with strong emotions one way or the other, his reaction is just "What's the big deal? I like a show."
Agreed. A lot of anime is really stupid but there are plenty of great shows out there that are much deeper and definitely more entertaining than the tv we have going on over here in North America. Just because it's animated doesn't mean it's childish.
great point, I'm a full blown weeb unfortunately so I can't really talk, but only cause a lot of the western Tv shows I watch are either done or gone down to shit so much i think "this would be a lot more enjoyable if i had recently sustained a massive head injury". I think I'm in a place right now where anime is just comfortable yknow? Back from a long day at work, instead of trudging through the channel list I just fire up my laptop and go down the myanimelist site and fire up a random series that usually keeps me entertained for a week or two between the monotony of daily life.
Malum I think you hit the nail on the head there, or at least for me cause that’s how I feel when it comes to anime, I too don’t like a lot of anime because of the reasons you mentioned.. it’s mainly Shonen that I don’t like.. but there is a few gems I have watched. I like anime how I like my tv shows, mature, dark, deep, good character development ect ect almost like a drama with an slight anime twist.. now they don’t all have to have those themes but that’s what I’m into. But I do give a little bit of leeway for shows like One Punch Man because of its ballsy concept.
I mean, when you get over 30 shows every season every year, so like 120 a year, of course only a few will actually be good... It's the same with TV everywhere. Little unfair to compare the golden age with shows like Fist of the North Star and Serial Experiment Lain to Eromanga, then judge every show that comes out to be the equivalent. Currently there's a new season of Steins;Gate being aired and everyone seems to love it.
Btw, this season alone as well, there's over 140 shows either being aired, continuously aired from last season, or are specials, OVAs, movies, etc... A lot of fucking anime is made every year, basically.
Yeah I'm not an anime fan. I can count the number of animes that I actually enjoyed on one hand - though granted I've not seen many. I think One Punch Man is great, though. I like how subversive it is, and how it sort of makes fun of anime tropes. Ridiculously overdesigned and overdramatic characters with stupid costumes and impossible hair juxtaposed against an apathetic bald dude who wears a shitty jumpsuit and just punches things. Everyone has these incredible backstories and dramatic names for their ultimate moves, and Saitama just has "I trained really hard" and "series of consecutive normal punches." It takes the reason why I'm put off my anime, and turns it into a reason to love One Punch Man.
Lmao! His interpretation of the mosquito villain is hilarious.
The mosquitoes are the beta orbiters. Kek.
If she sucks blood...
It's actually interesting how he broke the characters down.. not bad Bill.. not bad at all

Im further in the future. Hopes grow weary as my obsession goes unfed. In my mind i know my hopes are dead. The chances of a season 2 dwindles down. All i want is to return to Saitama's town. The blow of his first punch left an audience staggering. The producers leave us imagining. But what does this all mean? It means season 2 may never be seen.
When bill talked about how mosquito laybe killed off the mosquitoes that supported her it really shines a new light as to why saitama couldn't kill the single one that was annoying him, consequently this is also the moment in the story that genos enters his life.
The rabbit hole just keeps on going. That's some quality foreshadowing.
What I got from it was that even with all his power, he can't stop the little things in life that get under your skin. The things that make you human, and the people who will bug you no matter who/what you are.
Sometimes you get what you think out of things, everyone thinks differently so they pull different conclusions out of the same media.

It's crazy how different his perception is compared to your usual weeb.
I swear, the relation to the shounen genre is all people talk about. "iN DbZ PeOplE tRaIn hARd", things become more of a sum of connections than actual meaningful pieces of art. "Look at how this show relates to this show, and that show, and this show", and people lose track of how it relates to the human experience. There's a connection here to how anime went and developed its own reality, where characters are no longer representing humans. Miyazaki said it, and it still holds true.
It being a subversion has no meaning to me, but the commentary on meaning through pursuit does have meaning to me. When you put in those terms, it should be incredibly fundemental and basic for people commentating on the work.

Bill Burr has talked a lot of times on his podcast about how he has always hated the idea of working in a 'real job' in an office. He used to work in a warehouse in his 20's, and enjoyed the freedom it gave him to walk around without being tethered to a single location. And when he'd have to enter the carpeted office area to talk to a manager, he wanted to jump out the glass window to end his misery. I think this is why the "corporate soul crushing" theme of the show really spoke to Bill.

City Hunter is the best one out of your list, by far.
ditto. Cowboy Bebop will always hold a very special place in my heart. And that soundtrack is pure mint!
ONE PUUUUUUUUUUUUNCH!!!!!!!
Bill burr is now officially an anime review channel
jeffrey best LMFAO 😂😂😂😂😂 THAT would be something..white dude from New York reviewing anime shows
@@emomc9557 not sure why "white" and "from NY" would
disqualify anyone from reviewing anime, care to explain?
Michał Lxxa disqualify? I don’t think I used that word...how bout this comparison...what if a black man from Zimbabwe had a favorite show and it was full house? A little weird right?
@@emomc9557 You didn't use the word "disqualify", but you said "THAT would be something". Not sure what connects being a reviewer of a globaly popular thing and said reviewer's home address in the era of the Internet.
Michał Lxxa lol I hear ya chief
New Yorkers don’t strike me as fans of anime, especially older white males who probably never seen an episode of dbz..it just seems like something so random
"This is the greatest day ever!"
Thats my camp. Its a great fucking show. Good enough for me to go and find the web comic which is extremly rare, and i still go back and re-read them.
Haven't watched an anime in like 10 years but started watching OPM because of this video and it's so damn good, I hope he kept watching it; funny shit.
Zack Zenon You should watch Demon Slayer
Same here....I had actually jumped on that "anime is gay" bandwagon, cuz it sure seems like it...but OPM is the shit! Now I'm just a guy who watches anime for fun. Nobody knows who I am.
@@TheBetabox Watch Hunter x Hunter it's my favorite next to OPM. It's a reaalllyyyy good anime.
Bilbur's cool factor just went over 9000
Honestly I'm genuinely surprised he pronounced "anime" correctly. Good job bill
How the fuck else would you pronounce it?
@@DuncanUdaho67 ah-neem
*amine
Caroline... I want you to be.... Mine!!!!!!
uhh he aint tho bro. i mean if you want to split hairs its not ann-ih-may or ann-uh-may, its ah-nee-may with each syllable pronounced equally in timing.
but to be honest i dont really give a shit how people pronounce words as long as i can understand what they were trying to say
that "good job bill" was super patronizing too btw. great to know you think of him as a dopey old guy who couldnt possibly know about "coolkid" stuff like anime and metal
Lol ive a feeling Bill can solve the entire Onepiece mystery.
What One Piece mystery?
@@donngreitontordilla1456 why they keep making the shit

thank you bill for being so so fucking rad
Bill Burr bald hero

True Heroes are bald
Does Hitler look like he was bald to you
johnny sin bald hero
not all heroes have hair
Clorox Bleach bruh im surprised RUclips didn't delted your comment yet
Mussolini
His shock at how people responded to him saying he enjoyed One Punch Man just goes to show how much bullshit there is surrounding the internet's idea of what "anime" is. He's not watching "Super Robot Pre-Teen Panty-Shot 2000" just because he's watching a cartoon from Japan.
@@stanbrule9357 That's the problem you run into when half of the US views anime as a genre instead of a medium.
This guy is the ultimate entertainer, give him any topic doesn't matter what he can make a 2 hours show
Man... The way Bill Burr views this anim- *cough* show... It makes sense. I never really thought about it that way.
it's interesting that everyone in the world is willing to use the word cartoon to refer to American animation, but Americans just have an aversion to using the word Anime, because it's not the American word for it.
I never read into it this heavy lmao
@@Defiring isn't "anime" comes from Japan? Well I don't know
Anime is just a term for Japanese animation
Even hayao miyazaki movies is an anime
@@uttisiseppe769 It's the term they use in Japan.
@@Defiring yeah it means cartoon in Japanese
Holy shit, that is way more insight into one of my favorite shows than I ever anticipated hearing about from anyone. At All.
raztastic check out nuxtaku, this wouldn’t even be considered scratching the surface compared to how nux dissects anime/manga in General
Let's be honest. He likes the show because he's bald.
thats was my immediate thought lol
That’s part of it. I think once he saw the “gold digging whore” he was sold lol
Same thought
My two favorite things:
Billy Freckles and One Punch Man!
Thats some great insight for someone who never watched anime he even showed some points I didn’t think about.
Hearing comedian/actor/commentator/car restorator/drummer/helicopter pilot Bill Burr talk about his favorite anime.
My fucking life is complete.
themonsteraddict MMXVI RIGHT??!!!!?!
This makes me love Bill Burr even more.
Holy shit, BILL BURR JUST MADE ME APPRECIATE THIS MANGA/ANIME EVEN MORE. I didn't even think to look this deep into each villain/hero that closely either. My mind blown.
I'd like to hear what Bill has to say about Attack on Titan. "It's like Spiderman on crack- cocaine" hahaha
"it's a load of shit"
Anoahmous give 1 good reason why... but never mind i forgot shit stains aren't supposed to have an opinion...
What a shitty show
Attack on titan also known as shingeki no kyojin is garbage. The story is predictable the characters are bland as shit and as someone who gave it a chance went ahead gave the manga a good long read the series is just nonsensical stupidity jammed together with no real coherency most of it is just attempts at shocking the reader or surprising you with a "twist" it has no real substance.
your IQ must be negative LOL
you know what mr bill, i will get really high and watch it now
how was that?
yeah, how did that turn out?
Being high watching 1pm is fun
Ryan Spencer I know. I was too lazy to care
Same plan my dude..i dont watch anime but bill burr cant be wrong right?
He got deep..... I learned how even One Punch Man could be so Metaphysical....
I'm saying this with the most straight face possible
Only the best people like one punch
r/IamVerySmart
I,m a 60 Year old guy martial arts teacher who loves 1punch man. I get it
Ay
The whole notion that anime is only for younger people really pisses me off. I don't know where that started. Anime is for all ages.
One punch man is badass
Bangu?
SILVER FANG?!!!!
Don't Blow It
Keep It Simple
Count Your Money
Chet Weinstein wtf
That's what a "financial advisor" said to rich sport stars. Bill burr commented on it.
Needless to say it was a show about how they went bankrupt xD
this comment isn't even technically appropriate there were no athletes or financial related observations.
thank you sir let's never let that statement die...I wake up and say that to myself LOL
I have this posted to my work computer desk.
I think this proves how ONE"s writing is so good that even someone from a different country could enjoy it on another level and relating it to what he knows. The story started out back when ONE was unemployed and somehow it turned into something greater than what he expected. I find a new appreciation for One Punch Man after watching this video
I love how passionate he is about talking about the show too and yet his interpretation differs from mine that it feels like acquiring a better look at it because I've always loved ONE's work but I'm just one person and I love analyzing shit and it's great to see someone else analyze it in a way that is new and interesting.
The magic of one punch man. Even older mid life guys who have never seen an anime before can enjoy the show.
If Bill ever gets to watch Berserk, I will loose mah shit.
Whackashit Collaborations He needs to watch Jojo
Death note avatar and name yet throws the weeb card around. rofl. You're both weebs so kiss and make up.
The Berserk anime iterations aren't that great.... The Animation on the 97 series is dated, it was dated back in 97. The movies look great, and do a roughshod summary, but they had to skip so much that you don't get truly connected to anyone besides Guts.... The 2016 and 2017 anime's are fucking terrible... but we put up with it because it's fucking Berserk.... To truly get the Berserk experience you have to read the manga.... I don't think Bill would like it though... OPM is pure comedy... Everything about it. It's making fun of other anime/manga at it's very core, not a stretch that Bill would enjoy it.
You can do one punch man because it's premise is that of a satire that looks incredibly good. Jojo and Berserk are not satire's there isn't much there to it other than what it is.
Someone should tell Bill about Berserk.
There is a older Berserk series that has no CG...
I agree. Nor would he like the new one, even without the CG.
elpi B he definitely won’t want to invest into. Probably best to show him Mob pysco 100
Hopefully the director of the Castlevania anime does follow through with Netflix to re-adapt Berserk.
And Finally do it justice after all of these years.
100%
This shows that Bill Burr is willing to try new things! That is really powerful.
I was always a big Bill fan. Now, "It's like the greatest day ever!"
Bill burr likes it then I’m gonna have to watch it
Do it man. It is a good show. Just 12 episodes.
Biffin Joseph yea I’m on episode 8 now 🙏
