- Tone Demo of my Fender Stratocaster American Vintage 62 Hot Rod (AVRI). Made in USA in 2012.
These Hot Rod are basically '62 Strats but with Medium Jumbo frets, 9.5" radius, 57/62 pickups with rwrp middle, thin skin nitro and a FAT neck, probably the fattest neck I have ever found on a Strat.
You can watch this Strat compared side by side to other two at this link:

After watching a video on you, because of the beautiful guitar sound, I want to have a fender too. That's a great video.
Thank you my friend! Don't you own a Fender?! You have to!!!!!
Coming from a Gibson guy that plays r9 necks, does this strat feel along the lines of that?
R9 are huge right? This is the biggest neck I have had on a Stratocaster.
It sounds beautiful and it has infinite sustain. Lovely.
Thank you my friend!
PS. Hhha. I need to try and save up for some good or decent affordable alnico pups to out in my Black Strat.
Plenty of options out there! Good luck!!!
You're getting some killer tones out of that axe my friend - and the fact you go from some nice chill chord work to all out funk to country shows you play phenomenally man! Great demo!
Well, thank you my friend.... however I cannot shred like you! One day maybe lol!
@@LostPlectrum You are way too kind brother - you can play the hell out of that guitar!!!
Man that sounds so good.....killer playing!!! Its crazy really how I went from loving to play metal prog rock fusion being drummer to clean ambient blues guitar in 2018. I imagine it was all those years sneaking a few minutes on bandmates guitars over the decades I picked up different little ideas and then 15 years later bought my own strat being first electric. I have been sharing my ideas and thanks to people such as yourself, learning more and more while still exploring. Peace to you!
It's a never ending journey, and that's simply fantastic. Music influences chenge a lot for me as well, went through Queen, then metal, huge Dream Theater fan, pop, then I discovered SRV...lately I have been a huge Gary Moore fan... Who knows what the future holds for us! Rock on my friend!!!!
@@LostPlectrum I love dream theater. Got my son into them young....he is a huge pertucci fan. Plays very similar to him. My son is a prodigy. Hahahaha. Another reason I moved to guitar. I only taught him basic chords at 10 and now he's 26 and a machine!! Hahaha. Thank you! Yes I'm as well getting to love more of the organic tones cleans and tailed reverbs etc. Awesome play man!
HUGE JP fan here as well! Ask your son whether he is able to cover John's performance of Hollow Years live at Budokan... A true master guitar solo 🎸
@@LostPlectrum i will message him and ask him!
I'm sure he can if not pretty much sound close. Hheheh. He's playing on one or two of my videos one on a tele bullet which he says wasn't bad at all. But he doesn't like all the effects that were running. Hahaha. He's an ibanez prestige and premium guy. Hahahaha
How does the neck compare to a modern c shape. Or better yet which do you prefer personally?
Hi Jack, the neck is definitely chunkier than the modern C. It feels huge under the hand and I liked it very much. I found it difficult sometimes while playing open chords because you have to let the high e string to ring and sometimes it was stopped by the hand due to the chunky neck. I personally prefer the Robert Cray signature neck which sits in the middle between the 2!
Sounds great, well done Alberto! Have an awesome weekend my friend!🎷🎷
You too mate! Thank you and stay safe!
Nice guitar, strat is the one guitar i dont have. I subscribed
Thanks a lot! Everyone needs a Strat, there is only a small problem, once you get trapped on Strats you will tend to pile them up. They are so good.
You still have this guitar?
It's gone to a new lucky owner!
@@LostPlectrum I just ordered one.. little nervous around the neck size. But seems a good guitar.
Neck is definitely big in size and thickness. It felt great to me but it doesn't fit all hands. Let me know how much you like it! Those are great Strats
This is one of my favourite Strat models... custom shop quality.
It's a keeper!!!
It's still with me!!!
What are you paying for it? Is it an Hot Rod?
Ugh, they are expensive. Have you tried it? These have big necks, not go everyone (I have a video where I measure it)
Dan.... He is a beast of tone. Good luck with finding your good one, let me know the results of your research!!!
Beautiful tone and plying!
Thank you David, really appreciated! Are you also a player?
@@LostPlectrum Yes I play in cover band influenced by many popular old time artists. Would you say these pickups are close in tone quality to the original vintage pickups from Leo Fender days?
The best I have found so far are the one in my American Vintage 65, I will upload a video soon about that incredible guitar! Tones in spades, vintage voiced, jaw dropping tone...mm
How much did you pick it up for?
This one? If I well remember I picked it from the used market for about 1500€!
Hot Rod?
Hot Rod 62, it was a model within the American Vintage range. Discontinued around 2013.
@@LostPlectrum I had
a USA VRI.. but in no means a hot rod. It had 57/62 pups in it. It was a Great guitar. Is that the same? It looks the same.
The hot rod has 9.5 inches radius (flatter board), rprw middle pickup (hum cancelling in position 2 and 4), the second tone wired to the bridge pickup and a huge, fat neck. Moreover a lighter coat of lacquer.
@@LostPlectrum I guess I had it.. thing is where I bought it from.. brand new. they don't know much.. or did not know much.. I got the action down super low.. now it all makes sense.. I sold it years ago.. I bought it from Hermes music in McAllen Texas.. Wow.. Looking back I should have never sold it.
Definitely these are usually passed over as regular American Vintage Stratocasters!!! Great model the Hot Rod
One of the best standard production Strats ever built.
Surely a great one! Eric Johnson Stratocaster is always a fantastic one!
