    "Not very highly thought of among Fuji shooters" - Every Fuji shooter: "Love it! great lens for the price!"

    I watched this video a few weeks ago and compared to other videos whilst deciding whether to buy the XF 55-200mm or the XC 50-230mm. Given I don't do videos and considered I like to travel light, I opted for the XC (cheaper, lighter and with extra reach with 230 being the equivalent of 351 full frame). Overall, I am happy with it. Obviously it is not for extremely low light conditions and compared to the other Fujinon lenses I have (XF18-55, XC 15-45 and XF 35 F2) I think this one requires a lot more ISO but performance is overall satisfactory. I think this video gave a true and fair overview. Thanks

    This will be my next lense. I have an X-E1 with the smaller brother, XC16-50 f.3.5-5.6, and I love it. Use it in pro applications. You dont need to go for the top lenses. Thanks for sharing.

    Excellent lens. There is no reason this lens should perform as well as it does. The B&W rendering is insane. The only 'fly in the ointment' is the sucky low light performance. AF suffers badly in low light and you will have to use a tripod in very low light. I own five Fuji lenses as well as some of Leica's best glass, a few Zeiss lenses as well, and this lens holds its own amongst them.

      With my f2 lenses and f2.8 i never really use a high iso and theres no reason to be afraid of it so im gonna try this for street instead of buying a 16 2.8 as i already have a 35 and a 16-55 i think this can be useful if i cant be closer to people with a small 16mm i can be far thats also a way of not being noticed and hey this way i expand my lenses to the longer range side of things and for this price i saw samples and they look amazing im really tempted

    Have to agree - it;s a great lens for the price - easy to find on the second-hand market, and given how rarely use telephoto it a great pick-up

    Looks like it would pair nicely with my Fujifilm X-S10. Trouble I am torn between getting this and the XF 70-300mm which has a longer reach, faster aperture, weather sealing, focus limiter and teleconverter compatibility, but it over double the price of that one! Plus I can't even get hold of the 70-300mm here in the UK, it is still on pre-order which is so frustrating!

    Every Fuji shooter should have the XF27 and the XC50-230 to supplement their signature lens/es - they're a very cheap way to extend the utility of the system with portability and range.
    I got by with just those two plus the original XF35 F/1.4 for years. I use the XF27 frequently, and the XC50-230 hardly ever - but I like being prepared :)
    Lots of price variation to be aware of, though - I got them both for a total(!) of AUD299 during cashback season, yet I've also seen them listed at AUD400+ each. (XF18-55 & XC16-50 also have optionally high prices sometimes, too)
    I just wish they had aperture rings...! :/

    I bought the Fujifilm X-T100 with XC 15-45mm & XC 50-230mm combination. I must say that, this camera & the lenses are very much underrated. If you master the Fujifilm camera interface; I mean the settings, then you can get excellent output, considering it's price point. Only thing I suffer is, when the objects are moving very fast, the images can be little blurry or maybe I don't know the ultimate settings for such situations. Nevertheless, for me, it's an excellent buy. I am enjoying photography with this Fuji X-T100 & XC 15-45mm+XC 50-230mm combo. Btw, thanks Scott, you helped me a lot before buying it. Your reviews were very much helpful. :)

      Hi Tanmoy, did you download the firmware dated November 25th, or something like that? For your xt100? I'm in the process of I'm in the process of buying an xt100, but I'm so hesitant because of all the bad things I've read about its poor auto focus. Just like you said regarding fast moving objects. I'm wondering if the November 25th firmware update corrected any of this sluggishness.

    • @tan.sengupta
      @tan.sengupta 5 лет назад

      @@RayIniego you can buy it. Auto focus is fair enough especially for still photography. The slightest issue I was facing due to low narrow aparture at my kit lenses. I havent still updated latest firmware but you can see the changelog, if its written then they must have done improvements.

      @@tan.sengupta ok gotcha. Have you ever used it on a social gathering like a wedding? I intend to focus on wedding photography and while I know this is not the ultimate camera for weddings, it would be nice to have some idea of how easy it is in capturing spontaneous moments. Please and thanks!

    • @tan.sengupta
      @tan.sengupta 5 лет назад

      @@RayIniego No definitely not the best camera for wedding photography. For that, if you have budget then just invest in Fuji X-T3, you will never repent. But having said that, let me tell you, you can opt for some manual focus portrait budget prime lenses like 7artisans 55mm F1.4 or Sainsonic Kamlan 50mm F/1.1 etc. In fact, you will get multiple choices from 7artisans. I have bought that 7artisans 55mm F1.4 especially for my upcoming 2 marriage events of my relatives in January 2019. That will be a real test. For now, I am enjoying portrait photography with this lens. Hope it helps.

    Hey Scott 👋🏼
    I recently purchased this XC50-230mm lens for my XT30, I was wondering if you’d be able to help me with what may be an issue with the user or nothing at all.
    Normally with my other lens’s, when I adjust the ISO and the SS, you can see the changes on the display and what the image will look like, however on the XC50-230mm this isn’t the case. In Manuel focus I always have to shoot then check the photo just taken and adjust my setting after as there doesn’t appear to be a live display of the changes I make to ISO & SS.
    Thanks for your time.
    Cheers
    Geoff

    • @Scott_Graham

      Ya that doesn’t sound right. Maybe try updating the lens and camera firmware. If that doesn’t help I’d say there might be an issue with the lens.
