    I'm excited to try this lens out. Got what seems like a decent deal on ebay ($150, used in good condition).
    Paired with my X-T30, an XC15-45, and a cheap manual 7artisans 35mm f/1.2, I think this lens will help make an excellent lightweight travel kit (previously, I had a 60D kit, but ended up selling because I just didn't want to travel with all that weight. That camera plus two of its lightest primes (40/2.8 and 50/1.8) weighs almost as much as this full kit)

      Hello! Thank you for asking. This lens should work very well with X-T200. I see it mainly used for landscape telephoto work. So it's really nice for travel because it's light weight. The lens may not be bright enough for wildlife photography. For wedding you might light a bit more bokeh than this lens can offer. Kind regards!

    • @tom_photo
      @tom_photo  2 года назад +2

      Hello! Thanks for asking. I think the Fujinon XC 50-230 mm lens will work very well for long distance video shots from tripod. It has image stabilization and for capturing landscape you typically don't mind that very large apertures are not possible. I've used this lens for long distance landscape work and I've been happy with the results. If you care much about bokeh then there are other lenses that perform better. Happy photography!

      Hi Lines of a Lifetime! Thank you for asking. Yes, this lens will work very well with your X-T200. It might not be optimal for sports, though, because the smallest F-stops are not small enough for fast action (especially in low light). Kind regards!

    thoughts on this vs the 18-55 kit lense on the xe4?

    • @tom_photo
      @tom_photo  20 дней назад

      Hi! Thank you for asking. I view these lenses as very different. The XF 18-55 is a versatile every day lens that can handle most situations well. The XC 50-230 is a specialized lens suitable for telephoto work (in bright light or when using a tripod). These lenses fill different purposes. If you only own one lens then the 18-55 is generally a better choice. The 50-230 is a good second choice for certain special situations. Kind regards!

      Hi! Thank you for asking. This is a very good lens and will work for multiple purposes. However, it is primarily a telephoto lens and therefore the minimum focusing distance is not optimal for food photography. It can work in certain situations but you'd be better served with some other options. Kind regards!

    • @tom_photo
      @tom_photo  Год назад +1

      Hi Shalin! Thank you for asking. Yes, the lens will work with Fuji X-T4. It was designed for a bit older cameras but this is not a problem. I've used this lens with X-T30 and it works really well. The X-T4 and X-T30 are very similar cameras (sensor-wise speaking). The lens may be a bit slow for a sports game. It is does not focus very fast and you may also want a larger aperture. Kind regards!

      @@tom_photo Thank you very much for a fast reply. I will keep the F value in mind, it does seem bit slow. Most recently in the past I used a friend's Nikon D3400 with a 18-200mm lens that had F/3.5-5.6 and felt bit slower at times with AF at least, so I will try and get one that is bit high F value.

If i take the pic the settings work, but not in the preview. My lens doesn't come with a particular button on the side and that has something to do with compatibility with the camera. Diffraction at f16? How can it be the sweet spot then?

    • @tom_photo
      @tom_photo  Год назад

      Hi Jan-Martin! I have not quantified the exact amount of diffraction at F16 but based on experience it should be there. The "apparent" sweet spot can still be at that value (even though I suspect that diffraction is there). Some of the diffraction can be digitally corrected for by the camera software. This means that the same lens in front of a "dumb" camera could display another apparent sweet spot. Cheers!
