That's what's so good about the Stones, a band like led Zeppelin had an easy top ten but the Rolling Stones top ten is so hard to decide
Disagreed, I thought LZ's list was equally difficult to make. However, the Beatles' list would be insane, I don't think I'd actually be able to do it without doubting it.

Favourite Rolling Stones song is Doom and Gloom
it's just so satisfying to hear after a shitty day or if something went wrong and it sums up everything bad that happens in the world from poverty, to war, even the video for it is very artistic. Possibly one of the Rolling Stones underrated tunes, but my favourite track in my opinion.
Personally, I'd put "Gimme Shelter" at #1 but this is a really solid list!

You're so right! I think WM should make another top 10 because the Stones have way too many great songs, just like Led Zeppelin (altho they were kinda short-lived compared to the Stones)

I know it's all opinions, but that's my #1, always. My #1 Stones song, my #1 anybody song. I think it really epitomizes everything that makes them great - and it's probably why they've played it regularly on every tour since they wrote the song, which is not something that can be said for Satisfaction.

I went to see them last Thursday in Anfield & I was so HAPPY!
The Stones have so many goodies oldies. My favourite is actually Walking the Dog since childhood, and of course The Last Time, Lady Jane, Ruby Tuesday, Jumpin' Jack Flash, Route 66 (composed by Bobby Troup in 1946), just to name a few more.
Those early Stones songs were so speckal. I forgot about the Last Time. I also love Mothers Little Helper.

ben callahan, Gimme Shelter is a Vietnam song but that means it became a song closely associated with the war. The song is actually about the hectic 60's government problems and wanting shelter from it all.

I know when a band have done so many great songs some are bound to get left out but Shine A Light deserves at least an honourable mention. One of their best!

Stone covers are hard to do. I would guess the most successful would be Beast of Burden, so that is probably their best written song.

Lifted my heart to see Moonlight Mile in the honorable mentions. It's a very underrated gem that doesn't get the attention in deserves.

But there are so many wonderful songs of them which could not get in the spotlights because... because some other ones are not only wonderful, they are musical storms, and "Start Me Up" will always have more impact than "Moonlight Mile", just like dynamite has more impact than a beautiful candlelight.

It was never one of my favourites originally, but I think Gimme Shelter is by far the best Rolling Stones song, and one of the best songs ever written. The best songs are often those that don't seem amazing at first, but get better with each listen. Its just such an epic song and there is nothing that sounds like it. Then again that could be said for many Rolling Stones songs.

Personally my favorite songs without a doubt is Sympathy for the Devi. In my opinion it lyrically out numbers all the other stones songs combined and quite frankly was the track that introduced me to the stones, and for that i'm truly grate full.
