Satisfaction goes beyond its considerable musical merit straight into the root of rock. It made explicit what was on the minds of my contemporaries when it arrived. Why is it, in the dawn of this age of women’s reproductive freedom, that I still can’t get laid? Sex was fraught, frankly dangerous, just before that moment and that idea continued to shape attitudes long after.

After all these years, no matter how busy I am, if Gimme Shelter starts playing on the radio, I always stop and listen from beginning to end. One of the few songs that I have never gotten at least a little bit tired of.
@@garymacdonald2549it's definitely infectious. I don't know how Keith thinks in how much he and Mick want their songs to grab our attention, but they sure have gone beyond what they may have anticipated. I think there's no doubt their creativity's natural, which of course can't be bought.

Everything they release turns gold? I gotta dispute that. They made 6 or 7 terrible studio albums. I don’t agree that they’re the best rock group of all time either. that belongs to The Beatles Now, with that being said, The Rolling Stones are a highly influential GREAT band. "Sympathy for the Devil" is simply brilliant in every respect. An important part of "Gimme Shelter' not mentioned is that despite the storms and floods, rape and murder in the end "love is just a kiss away". Taken together, the songs convey an important message: evil exists, but love can conquer evil.

Undercover of the night, shattered, 2000 years she's a rainbow, can't you hear me knocking, also waiting on a friend, and wild horses, and before they make me run, also she's my little T&A
I would add "Can't Always Get What You Want" and remove "Paint It Black," but a darned good list. #1 was what it should be..."Gimme Shelter." It's a Top 3 song in human history. And you included "Angie," "Wild Horses," and "Beast of Burden," which should all be there too, so you did a nice job. Some that I would have in my Top 10.. I mentioned Can't Always Get What You Want, but would add in Loving Cup, As Tears Go By, She's a Rainbow, Dead Flowers, and Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker). The Stones wrote great rock and roll, but wrote some of the most beautiful slow songs of any band EVER too. I was always a Beatles fan more when I was younger, but have come to love the greatness of The Stones.
'Time waits for no one' , 'She's a Rainbow' , 'Moonlight Mile' , 'Miss You' , 'Shattered' . 'Start Me Up' . 'Waiting on a Friend' , 'Hang Fire' , 'Neighbours' , 'No use in Crying' , 'Anybody Seen My Baby'.... Many songs that I listen to in my top ten. Everyone will have a personal list,is the reality of decades at the top of the charts.
Wish I could have seen them in a small venue just after Sticky Fingers was released - 71 or so. I heard Mick say in an interview that he was extremely cocky and sneering at that time - felt invincible.
The last song on "Sticky Fingers", is an incredible 'lane change' from Rock & Roll to "Rock Opera". "Moonlight Mile" is a fantastic collaboration between The Stones and a Symphony Orchestra. Just Remarkable.
Just outstanding! Doubtless, among the best of all times, not only for the Stones. But guys, what about "Satisfaction" ? Not even a mention? That's not fair for me, sorry.

Gotta agree, my favorite R&R riff of all time. And, from what I've read, Keith came up with it in a dream.
Satisfaction goes beyond its considerable musical merit straight into the root of rock. It made explicit what was on the minds of my contemporaries when it arrived. Good choice. Gimme Shelter fantastic. There are so many fantastic söngs from the greatest rock'n roll band of all time.
of course !!
My brother would start singing that when his kids didn't get what they wanted. In time, as soon as he started singing, they would leave the room or drop the subject and plead for him to stop singing
Wild Horses
Jumping Jack Flash
Stray Cat Blues
Rocks Off
Can't You Hear Me Knocking
Honky Tonk Women
Gimme Shelter
Sway
Heartbreaker
Satisfaction
THE best Band ever ROLLING STONES ‼️💎💎💎💎💎
“Some Girls”my personal favorite album. Those PortoRican Girls just dying to meet you!
These are all great classic songs.
you didn't get it wrong, well done (you can't always get what you want) deserves a mention
It's not possible to say, it's a matter of mood. But the most special to me who had listen to the Stones from the beginning is Painted Black.
Paint It Black
Really?
The last song on "Sticky Fingers", is an incredible 'lane change' from Rock & Roll to "Rock Opera". "Moonlight Mile" is a fantastic collaboration between The Stones and a Symphony Orchestra. Just Remarkable.
The same with Ruby Tuesday--
Sister Morphine
Spider to the Fly
Yes, moonlight mile😊
TY FOR THIS INFO !!
Just outstanding! Doubtless, among the best of all times, not only for the Stones. But guys, what about "Satisfaction" ? Not even a mention? That's not fair for me, sorry.
Gimme Shelter should be the greatest song of all time and it was not only relevant in 1969, it's relevant today.!
Gimme Shelter truly was 1969 and without a doubt the best of the Stones.
Satisfaction
They have so many iconic hits how can you keep up with?😅
Terrific content - thank you.
Thank you too...Glad you like it!
Wow.... Echt schwer bei so viel Qualität.... Unglaubliche Songs dabei..... Ich war bei fast 40 konzerten....❤ Abe midnight Rampler... Winter.... Paint it
Hi, ..., * "Gimmie Shelter" was the # 1 song in Vietnam for five ( 5 ) years in a row ! ! "Semper Fi" Mike in Montana :)
The Stones are the Stones, end of !
Now that you mention it, I can't think of a rock and roll song better than Gimme Shelter. I was a teenager in the 60's and grew up listening to the Stones and a lot of other great bands. I gotta say the Stones are worlds greatest rock and roll band.
