Imagine any other profession, where you in contact with people and can help or harm them in a serious way. And then then "professional" is just winging what he does:
    - A surgeon guessing which tool is the right one to cut into your brain
    - A fireman reading the manual how to attach the hose while a building is on fire
    - A soldier trying to remeber, if the safety distance of his handgrenade was 50 or 150m to allied individuals
    - A electrician changing a fuse, hoping it will the the 6A and not the 10A one
In any other field of work, we wouldn't accept someone with such responsibility and power, acting upon guesswork. And yet here we see thousands upon thousands of videos of UK and US policemen, learning on the job while giving people orders and a hard time. For fucks sake, raise your standards and education, its fucking nessessary.

@Martin Sanders They are like Marmite then. Just because some cops behave worse than him it doesn't make him good, in my judgement it would just make him less bad. We have so precious few freedoms and every interaction like this is an attempt to erode or remove a freedom . If the officer didn't know this subject there is no excuse for taking this man's time up by blagging away as if he did. All too often we cave in just for an easy life. I appreciate your reply and point of view. Hope you continue to hang on to the right to have the latter.

Very interesting interaction. Police accuse you of being in the wrong despite them not knowing the legislation. They then change their tune initially once they realise they’re being recorded and furthermore when they realise their ‘knowledge’ may be lacking somewhat.
Good job by the auditor. Nice calm conversation.
Remember , legislation states that it’s up to the Police (state) to PROVE that the accused has done something illegal. That’s important to remember whenever a police officer asks you to ‘Explain your understanding of the guidance’ etc. (You’re not legally obliged to explain your ‘understanding’). Remember the all important phrase of a police caution …. “You are not obliged to say anything…”.
Firstly correct their wording by stating it’s not ‘Guidance’ but ‘law’, and then turn the question back on them and rather than give your ‘understanding’, ask them to state exactly what legislation applies. What offence have you been suspected of committing etc.
Police are tasked with enforcing laws, not feelings etc.
Also, Police rarely want to ‘just have a chat’. They’re trying to gather evidence, construct a case AGAINST you. There are no ‘chats’.
