@@EnricoDeianamusic Love it, Enrico. great work. the scene wasn't really depressing to me. it was Zidane having to be reminded that the world wasn't on his shoulders alone. the way you did it made it feel just how it was meant to
This is incredible. I first played FF9 as a young emotional teen, and this part of the game made me tear up. This year I saw it performed by Distant Worlds at the Royal Albert Hall and it had the same effect even as an adult. And hearing this by you today was just incredible, what a performance. Shared, subscribed, please make many, many more of these!
This scene hit me hard as a kid too, Distant Worlds just did my location and played this song, and I cried harder than I'd like to admit. It was beautiful.
It's wild, right? It hit hard as an emotional teen but just what he's doing and why REALLY sunk in hard in adulthood. Still gets my tears going. It's difficult, feeling as though you need to take on the weight of the world alone... but we never are.
You are never alone. There will always be someone who is on YOUR side. Sometimes you just have to search a bit harder. I know it sounds cliche, but having those on my side is what helps me through life.
I waited three years to listen to this, hoping I wouldn't cry... I freaking cried at the first notes. I. Fucking. Can't. With this one. I love it and this remix is sooo good. ❤
Zidane's trudge toward garland with his friends begging to help him was probably the single most touching moment in the entire game. When I got to the last enemy and dagger came to help, I paused the game and bawled. This music encapsulates the feeling of responsibility that Zidane feels and his drive to save Gaia so well. It is easily the best piece of music in this game with several tracks of amazing music by the great Nobuo Uematsu. I have been composing music for about a year or so now and learning more and more about theory and composition but I needed to take a break for a couple of days from practicing instruments and writing to sit down and play through this game. I have never been more inspired as an artist then by Nobuo Uematsu and, particularly, this song.
I agree! This song has so much emotional burden in it, but also the glimpse of hope that Zidane feels under all that pressure. In truth he was glad about his friends helping, even though he tried to push them away. And he gains his hopeful determination back piece by piece, shown also in the song. For me this song has been the one song that manage to pull me out of the dark pit I occasionally fall. It also reminds me that I'm not alone, even when I at times feel like it. Times may be dark at times, but there's always a glimpse of light somewhere~.
The moment Garnet appears, heals him, and says "Is this how you're going to solve the problem?", touches my soul! The only ff I replayed many many times!
As someone who has felt like I'm outcast. And been treated like dirt. As someone who has serious depression this song gives me life. In fact I have the words not alone tattooed on my arm. This is and will always remain my favorite song
I love how you added a darker element at first... then a lighter tone in the middle.. then the guitar!!! This is pure perfection. Thanks for doing FF9 justice.
You're Not Alone is, by far, one of my top favorite tracks in all of Final Fantasy. Not a whole lot can compare to it aside from certain tracks form Shadowbringers and Endwalker
Listening to this song, it is so very understandable why Nobuo Uematsu regards this game as his most achieving and favorite project. This game's soundtrack is the single best of any final fantasy game PERIOD. The only game's soundtrack that comes close to this imo is the chrono trigger soundtrack. The point at which this song happens in the game left me in an ocean of tears.
TN0wl did Nobuo say that? I thought he said FFVI was his favorite. I remember he said he was fatigued with this one. The good songs in FFIX are great, but the problem I have is there are way too many filler/throw away songs, which sadly became a problem in FF after the 2D era
@@REChrisRedfield doing both 8 and 9 tired him out. Towards the end of FF8s production he was starting ramping up FF9 so by the time 10 was starting production he wrote only the main themes with help from another composer and I believe the English translator helped with Another world. To him FF8 was a push for more orchestral feel while FF9 gave a more throwback feel to older games. I believe his favorite music was Tarras theme though. After FFX I think he took a break and worked on smaller projects befor he became the composer for Lost Odyssey which I never hear people giving him credit for that as I think it was one of his finest compositions showcasing his talent for diversity of music
@@optimysticquest the 2D era had plenty of filler songs as well it is just more noticeable on the 3D era because there were more tracks, but most games only have 2 or 3 tracks that really stick in peoples minds with the rest being forgettable or derivative. People always seem to name the same takes from games as the best or great while there are good ones that get ignored as they are played once. You Are Not Along is an amazing because it is only played at one point in the game ant that one point is not at the beginning. It is memorable I think because it conveys the emotion that are occurring as it plays.
meh. to be honest most of the ff9 soundtrack is very forgettable for me. This track and the beatrix theme being the exception. FF6, 7, 8 and 10 are just too good. but i guess thats a matter of opinion

Favorite song in all of Final Fantasy. The part where this played stuck with me ever since and is the first emotional moment I ever really took notice of in video games. Great job with your version, I loved it!
I'm playing through FFIX for the first time ever this year, and just got to this scene yesterday. Absolutely shot up to one of the best moments of the franchise for me. Right there alongside Cloud and Tifa's core developmental moment for me.
I still remember this track as a heart breaking and beautiful moment in story telling. Zidane feeling he was responsible for fucking up and putting his team, and friends in constant danger, only ironically to leave them and put them and himself in more immediate danger than anything before, and to be reunited and immediately steam roll any obstacles before them. That realisation of You're not alone.
You know, I've listened to a *lot* of remixes of You're Not Alone. A LOT. It's one of my favorite tracks in the entire series, and yet for the longest time I could never find a version of it that was anywhere near as good as the original, let alone surpassing it in quality. They all tried to change the mood of the song; to make it needlessly soft and tender, to try way too hard to tug on the heartstrings, and it never, ever works. There's something about the original and how powerful it that makes it infinitely more emotional. None of the other versions of it did that. None of them, except this one. This is by far and away the best version of this piece I've heard, comparable to, maybe *better* than the original. That's damn impressive.
So I'm not alone (har) in obsessively searching for remixes of this specific track, lol. All the remakes try to mimic it too closely and end up sounding like cheap imitations. Or they get to "experimental" and sound like funky trash, losing all the emotion of the original. It almost feels like the artists haven't played the game to know what makes the track so great. A strange phenomenon. But I agree this one does justice.
