Most intimidating final boss fight I've ever encountered. The atmosphere of it, talk about pressure! Not only do you have to save a world on the brink of total oppression, but that same world in every time period from an ultimate annihilation beyond comprehension. Brilliant story, incredible gameplay, perfect score, and a vastly underrated game!

Final Fantasy 8 holds so many memories for me. I remembered watching my father play it from his HP Compaq back around 2001-02. I didn't really understand anything yet from that time since I was like 6 or 7, but man the soundtrack this game has is just so good. Back in 2010 during summer break, I gave it a shot and decided to try and play it, unfortunately my save data got corrupted when I finished disc 2 after using the old final fantasy discs that we had. I got demotivated and focused on playing different games. Now, this lockdown has been affecting everyone. Got so bored, I'm randomly watching shit on RUclips as usual, and there's this video about some top final fantasy final bosses theme, and this song popped up. I haven't reached this point yet so it was meh. But I realized that i have unfinished business with this game. Downloaded an emulator and four FF8 files from disc 1-4 on my phone. More than 60 hours, I finally finished the game 2 days ago. I kept on repeating this song over and over since. Goosebumps everytime. I played other FF games as well. If there's an oddball in the family, it's this one, but definitely my personal favourite.
There are other FF games that are better than FFVIII. But I always enjoyed 8's pretty well constructed narrative and how it was effectively able to tell a convincing linear time travel type story.
Really late, did you also play it on mobile, or did you just use your phone to get the files? If so, what emulator? And where'd you get the roms, I guess. I've been craving Final Fantasy.
dude I bought ff8 thinking I was buying ff7 because some friends had it, My first ff was ff8 and barely knowing and undertanding any English, It was a hell of a ride and experience. My favourite ff is ff9 but ff8 is so speciel to me because it was the first that I completed and my english was so bad at the time but the soundtrack and experience will always be close to hearth.
When it hit 1:45, my mouth dropped open and eyes went wide. I was amazed. That was one of the most incredible things to hit my ears in a long while, especially from a music remake. This is incredible. Seriously, incredible.

In fact they've failed to capitalize on it for years and finally got around to a remake long after the majority of the original fan base stopped caring... 😂 FF vii is a legendary game for the story and it had the right kind of playability at the time for everyone, where even people that weren't super into JRPG's could still play it and enjoy it. All the spin offs over the years have flopped. Only hard-core final fantasy people really ever played any of those games. 😂 Realistically the original game is slow paced and looks like trash to modern gamers and would never be highly revered if it wasn't for the story and characters just resonating with people in general regardless of everything else, but it really is still a niche piece media with very limited matierial. It's great and all, but there just isn't enough there and it's not that cool to really trip out about for a long time these days especially when you've already sunk a lot of time into it. 😂
My favorite final boss of all time. A four stage boss fight where you could risk losing it all up to the very end. I ended the battle once with just Squall at 1HP when he **finally** decided to use Lionheart.
All I know for a fact, is that through history, no final boss has exploded quite the same as Ultimecia. That whole, screen distortion, agony face, the whole package, made me put the controller down and go "uhhhh...sorry?"
The way ultimecia disintegrated showed how much power she really had not only did she have the world in the palm of her hand but the universe as well through the timeline . She was no longer a sorceress at this point she was turning into a goddess of all existence

One of my favourite things about listening to your work is surprisingly simple; A lot of people who remake music change too much, or something a little too core to the song itself to where it seems invasive and, honestly, messes it up. You do not do this, you add the perfect amount and change it so subtly, it feels like a finely tuned improvement. Well earned subscription, here.
I feel like this is the kind of music where you think it's just how the original sounded when you played it as a child, and then you go back and realize that the actual music is not nearly as high quality as what you remember :P It's almost like he's taking my imagination of how the game should sound instead of "remixing" the music
i agree 100% here, while i still love the original sound track, this is how is FELT to fight this imposing time which killing off your friends in to the time rift , you world slowly shrinking into her plans! it feel epic, but still recogizable as the original

So beautiful. You're amazing! I love this theme and I love Ultimecia as a villain. The persecuted witch from the future who's heart becomes corrupted and turns to evil is a great story for a villain. And at least in FFVIII not all witches are evil. I digressed this is a wonderful remake.
@@Zeldafan-fp3uu But Sephiroth's imagery during his final battle is not overtly hellish, it is inspired by Nephilum and fallen angel idiosyncrasies. Ultimecia's imagery is fiery and demonic looking.
The Extreme is amazing. Probably my favorite final boss theme from the series. You did a great job on this. One thing I can say about your remakes: They keep the "Oomph" of the originals, while taking it up to a new level. This IMO is how a remake should be done, but unfortunately many remakes lose the "oomph" factor. In the case of this theme, that transition at 1:46 needs a lot of power behind it; most people make it too soft, and this just kills it for me. But not this one. Great transition, and great remake overall!
The Extreme has always been my favourite FF final boss theme (along with Dancing Mad). And with each Distant Worlds release, i keep hoping they finally give The Extreme the orchestral treatment. But they generally only allot a few slots to brand new orchestral arrangement of older FF music (the rest of the album tracks goes to music that has already been previous arranged but has not appeared on a Distant Worlds release, or to music from newer FF games which is already orchestral. It was particularly annoying they did Jenova a second rendition. Hopefully one day...
I always wondered what a showdown would look like between Ultimecia and Emperor Mateus. Or heck, her and Exdeath since one is compelled to compress all of time while the other is compelled to have everything consumed by the Void.

If only Square-Enix was more smart to just overhaul the original PSP game like they did with the original to 012, and make a new one that adds in all the extra characters wanted, and at most add a 2v2 option, don't take out the RPG elements and dungeon crawling elements when it represents FINAL FANTASY at its very core, NT just feels like a disgusting cash grab to its own disgusting core for the esport scene.

FF VIII is still my fav, and so is this track. The drums drowned out a little too much for me when it first picked up, but otherwise this was an amazing rendition, and the best I've heard!
I actually didn't like FF8 as much as a lot of the FFs that came before it, but you cannot fault its music. Possibly the best in the series. It was also leaps and bounds over its predecessors in graphics quality.
Nobuo Uematsu is a musical genius. I didnt like the 8 either as much as 7 and the X series. Everything before 7 and after the X series is also very entertaining. 9 was strange. But in all games, the soundtrack is marvelous and made the games much better to enjoy

I was pretty young when this 1st came out (13/14) I had just finished my 1st 100% play through of ff7 and this came out a month or so later so many days of school missed to play ff7/8/9 Tho I reackomg I probably learnt more playimg these games than I would of at school.. These games are the reason and how I learnt to read!
The music in FF7 blew my mind when I first played it, there’s some themes and songs that are just ridiculously good (I used to get actual chills from the music in the Forbidden City), but I feel like this one here from FF8, especially as it first starts is just beyond creepy and amazing.

@Konstanley Jerknov ok I agree on what you think is good but not what you think is bad. Ff9 is a little off putting but it isnt just "ok" its good. Ff8 is one of my favorites coming in third. I doubt you know better than everyone else. Too easy is the only thing you have against it. Honestly, I wouldn't really play it now but thats due to its age, its still really good. I think ffXIII and ffXV is really the only ff games that aren't considered good by the series standards.
@Konstanley Jerknov you can't be serious about ff8, thinking of how you ended up here! It is relatively easier than the other ones however it is a complete package of what an rpg should be, characters, Junctions, summons, etc, try the remastered on switch with the speed up function, you'll never regret it. I remember back then after i finished the exhausting fight with ultimecia griever form. I thought everything is finally over and i put the joystick down to enjoy the scene. Suddenly this song came out, ultimecia with broken face rose from bottom with her final creepy form. It really freaks me out and i said to myself "I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die, im not going to make it". When i picked up my controller again, it almost feels like squall picked up his sword and fight once and for all!! This is some crazy game with creepy final boss!
You were lucky, i was first so underleveled so that fight took to long so i was killed by his third form by Great atractor! .-) Many player even dont never see this attack to happen. :D

ff8's ost was amazing but ive heard pretty mixed things about the gameplay, i think people are coming here for that ost rather than the game itself

I feel like this is the kind of music where you think it's just how the original sounded when you played it as a child, and then you go back and realize that the actual music is not nearly as high quality as what you remember :P It's almost like he's taking my imagination of how the game should sound instead of "remixing" the music
i agree 100% here, while i still love the original sound track, this is how is FELT to fight this imposing time which killing off your friends in to the time rift , you world slowly shrinking into her plans!

this always takes me back, I remember when I first got to this form of ultimecia and thinking "musics a bit slow for a final battle" during the piano intro then boom fuckin awesome
So beautiful. You're amazing! I love this theme and I love Ultimecia as a villain. The persecuted witch from the future who's heart becomes corrupted and turns to evil is a great story for a villain. And at least in FFVIII not all witches are evil. I digressed this is a wonderful remake.
Every other bosses final forms looked like very powerful godlike deities but her final form looked like it came straight out from hell.
Can see what you mean. Kefka and Sephiroth looked like gods but Ultimecia looks different.
She does look like she came out of hell but I would argue zeromus looks like he came out of the 9th circle of hell

Ultimecia's imagery is fiery and demonic looking.
The Extreme is amazing. Probably my favorite final boss theme from the series. You did a great job on this.
One thing I can say about your remakes: They keep the "Oomph" of the originals, while taking it up to a new level. This IMO is how a remake should be done, but unfortunately many remakes lose the "oomph" factor. In the case of this theme, that transition at 1:46 needs a lot of power behind it; most people make it too soft, and this just kills it for me. But not this one. Great transition, and great remake overall!

The Extreme has always been my favourite FF final boss theme (along with Dancing Mad). And with each Distant Worlds release, i keep hoping they finally give The Extreme the orchestral treatment. But they generally only allot a few slots to brand new orchestral arrangement of older FF music (the rest of the album tracks goes to music that has already been previous arranged but has not appeared on a Distant Worlds release, or to music from newer FF games which is already orchestral. It was particularly annoying they did Jenova a second rendition. Hopefully one day...

I agree completely, makes you wonder how much further could they have gone to ruin the gameplay of nt?
If only Square-Enix was more smart to just overhaul the original PSP game like they did with the original to 012, and make a new one that adds in all the extra characters wanted, and at most add a 2v2 option, don't take out the RPG elements and dungeon crawling elements when it represents FINAL FANTASY at its very core, NT just feels like a disgusting cash grab to its own disgusting core for the esport scene.

This final battle takes place outside time and space in an empty void. This piece does a great job of capturing that.
FF VIII is still my fav, and so is this track. The drums drowned out a little too much for me when it first picked up, but otherwise this was an amazing rendition, and the best I've heard!

I actually didn't like FF8 as much as a lot of the FFs that came before it, but you cannot fault its music. Possibly the best in the series. It was also leaps and bounds over its predecessors in graphics quality.

Nobuo Uematsu is a musical genius. I didnt like the 8 either as much as 7 and the X series. Everything before 7 and after the X series is also very entertaining. 9 was strange. But in all games, the soundtrack is marvelous and made the games much better to enjoy

I was 10 when i played this, the one thing ultimercia said that i think is true and still haunts me to this day. TIME WILL COMPRESS............and it has i feel 10 years old again listening to this😊.
I was pretty young when this 1st came out (13/14) I had just finished my 1st 100% play through of ff7 and this came out a month or so later so many days of school missed to play ff7/8/9
Tho I reackomg I probably learnt more playimg these games than I would of at school.. These games are the reason and how I learnt to read!
The music in FF7 blew my mind when I first played it, there’s some themes and songs that are just ridiculously good (I used to get actual chills from the music in the Forbidden City), but I feel like this one here from FF8, especially as it first starts is just beyond creepy and amazing.

@@shibba2517 The pronunciations of Ultimecia in english and Artemisia in italian are very similar (Arutimishia in japanese). I prefer the italian transliteration to all the others because there is a genus of plant whose name is "artemisia" in latin language.
She was only called Ultimecia in the US, but the real name was Artimesia.

I only played the FFVII remake and FFXV. After hearing this, I need to play more man.
I consider it the best of the franchise! Totally worth time and money both ff8 and ff6
On ps4 you can buy all of them from FFVII to FFXV except XI and XIII, so enjoy.
@Konstanley Jerknov ok I agree on what you think is good but not what you think is bad. Ff9 is a little off putting but it isnt just "ok" its good. Ff8 is one of my favorites coming in third. I doubt you know better than everyone else. Too easy is the only thing you have against it. Honestly, I wouldn't really play it now but thats due to its age, its still really good. I think ffXIII and ffXV is really the only ff games that aren't considered good by the series standards.
@Konstanley Jerknov you can't be serious about ff8, thinking of how you ended up here! It is relatively easier than the other ones however it is a complete package of what an rpg should be, characters, Junctions, summons, etc, try the remastered on switch with the speed up function, you'll never regret it.

I remember back then after i finished the exhausting fight with ultimecia griever form. I thought everything is finally over and i put the joystick down to enjoy the scene. Suddenly this song came out, ultimecia with broken face rose from bottom with her final creepy form. It really freaks me out and i said to myself "I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die, im not going to make it". When i picked up my controller again, it almost feels like squall picked up his sword and fight once and for all!! This is some crazy game with creepy final boss!
You were lucky, i was first so underleveled so that fight took to long so i was killed by his third form by Great atractor! .-) Many player even dont never see this attack to happen. :D
