    The hybrid kills it for me. People use to buy land cruisers for the same reason they’d buy defenders. To take into adverse environments far from people and in the off chance something broke it could be easily replaced or temporarily repaired in the field and taken back home. That’s not a reality with the new one.

    Good informative review.. I think that the driver's visibility in all directions is super important to safe driving - and to all around driving enjoyment. I am surprised that it seems that no one is complaining about the large black box at the top middle part of the front windshield. 8:03 .. (This unfortunately is the same in just about all newer vehicles.) I know that is the housing for the safety monitoring equipment, but it also blocks the drivers (and passenger's) view out of the front windshield .. especially if you are taller (like me - about 6' "2). I think they should find another place to put the safety monitoring equipment so that the driver can use the entire windshield to look out - for safe driving. I trust my own eye sight MUCH more than relying on safety monitoring equipment to drive safely.

    I wish this Land Cruiser was marketed as Land Cruiser 250 or Land cruiser Prado, its not in the same class as the Land cruiser 200 we had up until 2021. Outside of USA there is Land Cruiser 300 which people call as Land Cruiser.

      Tfl pitted this against an 80 series that had a 2 inch lift and 33’s. The base model 1958 LC got up the hardest part of the trail on street tires while the 80 couldn’t make it. I still don’t see how it’s not a real Land Cruiser when a lot of people think the 80 is the last “real Land Cruiser”. No lift and street tires and it still beat a modded 80 series.

    I love the look of this truck. They should make a plug in hybrid version that exchanges all of the real 4WD equipment for a battery and two motors like the RAV4 Prime has. For those few people who buy this and never take it off roading. They could call it the Land Poser or the Faux Cruiser and just own the fact that it’s for Home Depot, Costco and family trips on the highway.

    • @kingofthesofas

  • @roberthoyt7921
    @roberthoyt7921 Месяц назад

    For MYs 2026 and newer, Toyota might need to replace the 1958 and namesake trims with these:
    * SR5 (replacing 1958)
    * Heritage (replaces namesake but mimics the LE, XLE, XSE, and Limited trims of other Toyotas)
    * TRD Pro
    * Trailhunter
    * GRX (performance-oriented flagship)
    Toyota might consider replacing the Sequoia with extended-length 3-row versions of the LC250 and Lexus GX Mk3.

    This guy has so many contradictions in this video - at one point he says the space is tight and then he says it’s spacious. He says he likes the barebones 1958 version, then praises the GX with massaging seats. He is all over the place.
    The side rearview mirrors are an homage to previous Toyotas - FJ, for example. Heck the whole vehicle is.
    Also, to Consumer Reports: just stop testing body on frame SUVs on a track. Nobody is doing that. This is not a Miata.
    Let’s hear more about quality of materials, and fit and finish. What’s truly been lacking in the new gens. - Taco, Tundra, and Sequoia. Hopefully, we get that information soon. As this LC is made in Japan and should make a difference in this department.

    I sat in one of these recently. I was not impressed. Interior parts feel flimsy. If you press on the toggle switches, the entire section with all of the switches moves. Some of the interior material is so rough it’s not even comfortable to set your hand on, like the plastic in the cupholders. I would not mind this at 35-45k, but I cannot imagine paying 50-70k. It is not worth that.

      It does have more headroom than the current 4runner. The rear load height is is higher than it looks.

      And the leather steering wheel feels like plastic. If it didn’t have stitching I would think it was plastic. Such a cheap vehicle.

      35-45k? That’ll get you a mid-trim Camry.

    GX looks so much nicer/classier/cleaner design, all petrol, nicer v6 engine.
    Hybrid complexity to save a few mpg doesn’t seem worth it. So much more complexity, parts, maintenance, repairs in the future for a hybrid.

      @ro0ster648 Месяц назад

      It isn't more complex, they don't have starters, altenrators etc.. they actually cost less to maintain than the gas variants. but yes GX is a lot nicer for both much more money

      It's actually to add power while reducing emissions. It's more about meeting CAFE regs. Also, it's a myth that hybrids are high maintenance. Actually the opposite is true.

      10 year 150k warranty on it. Have you kept a vehicle that long with that many miles?

    I cannot fathom how abysmally stupid MPG scale is. Who came up with this shit? The MPG scale is non-linear! For efficient vehicles the curve goes to infinity

    Geez… reading pity comments below, Toyota should just take LC out of US market completely. then they don’t have to deal with all these lazy and whining consumers.

      I wasn’t lazy and I driven one and it’s for sure not worth over 50k. The real pity here is spending that amount of money only to have five seats, hearing a horn that comes from a small economy vehicle, and trying to deny the fact that they are only riding on the nameplate. This thing is so over priced. They are trying to make it look like it’s some G wagon when it’s not. even the new Honda passport embarrasses this vehicle
