    Excellent video! Camera work was great. (including drone work) Editing was very good. Vistas were spectacular. The trailer is cool! I actually like that one! (except the price) Your LC might have done what was needed and the MPG might have been ok, but idk if I would want to tow with anything less than a V6. Def. want more of your trailer reviews. And Def. want to see you towing them around OUR area. Yes, Andre at TFL had issues. However, as you will note, they are at altitudes we don't struggle with here. And they tend to dramatize things. That is why I like your stuff. Straight up no nonsense. Keep it coming Ryan!

    LC’s traditionally only get 230-250miles range. The workaround has been adding an aux tank, in previous gens you could add a 12.5gallon tank without relocating your spare. The new 250 already has a low hanging spare, so adding any tank means committing to a bumper or hitch mounted spare.

    I tow a 3 tonne caravan of which I live in. I've never seen a hitch like that and am rather concerned that the drawbar is reliant on a bolt. The drawbar on my caravan has the swivel and the hitch fits over a spline on the towing vehicle .

      100%. This is particularly disappointing with the new Sequoia. My GX460 had a larger tank than the 3rd gen Sequoia does.
      My LX570 has a 24.6 gallon tank and thats not even enough in some cases. There are places I pull my trailer where I need a 200+ mile range just to get in and back out to a gas station.

    The new Land Cruiser is the dream-truck for people towing heavy equipment long distances and some bad roads and trails in the work. Here in Norway we can just dream about the new LC after the taxes have increased significantly for all others than ev's, and will increase even more for 2025. My 2018 mod Land Cruiser 150 GX (Prado) with air suspension on the rear axel was upgraded by Arctic Trucks when I bought it as new with a hitch for towing 3500 kg trailer (7.700 lbs). But the old camera with an adaptive line leading against the ball on the hitch is looking easier to use. (That LC is like the Lexus GX sold in the US, but with diesel engine).

    Great job on video. Pardon my bragging but my 23 GX 460 would have motored up that hill first try 😉
    So i am not a huge fan of the Mammoth TL. Those Timbren Tandum 5200 HD suspension are rated to 10,400 pounds. That has to be a stiff ride. Also i wish reviewrs verifyed the actual loaded weight as i am not buying 3,500 pounds. Same goes for tounge weight. Cheap cooler and cooktop, Carbon steel chassis is not powder coated rust city. Furnace is rated to 5,000 vertical feet. There is actually very little stand up area inside. Wet bath is comically small.
    I think you nailed it this thing was designed with airplane parts.

I can’t imagine having to “Reset” the parameters every time I hook up the trailer or un-hook once at camp to go trail running then have to do everything again the next morning……I’ll keep my nice and simple Nissan Titan…

      @@RCFTE What an incredibly assumptive, immature and ludicrous retort to the OP's very valid comment. I seriously hope they (Toyota) haven't included the same stupid nonsense in the European market version as people who tow regularly (farmers, construction workers towing plant equipment, horticulturalists, caravanners, etc) will absolutely not tolerate this. Fortunately for Europe, the use of electric brakes is extremely rare and that at least will be eliminated. This Toyota towing claptrap setup is a deal breaker for me. Finally, I have to ask, can you afford to purchase the new Land Cruiser, or was your comment based on pure jealousy as you cannot?

      Tow haul mode increases line pressure and changes shift points in your transmission and should ALWAYS be on while towing.
      Increasing the line pressure in the transmission causes the clutches to be gripped tighter. Less slip means less heat in your transmission. Less heat is the number 1 saver of transmissions.
      If you'd like to test this theory, accelerate hard in first gear, while towing a load, in tow haul and not. You will notice that your acceleration in tow haul will be faster. This is because increased line pressure modulates transmission slip.

    A Diesel engine option would be the ideal power option.
    I’m not convinced that a higher strung 4 cylinder is the right approach first for longevity & reliability. What happens when you load up the Land Cruiser with 2 or 3 people throw a Cargo box on the roof and add gear.

    I don’t expect a great deal of mpg out of these new vehicles but at least be in the low 20s to 25 mpg.. It’s the hassle of refuelling on the road or off-road to me..

      @drivingsports  Месяц назад +1

      No complaints on the MPG while towing. With AT tires and a load that’s not bad. Just needs a larger tank.

    One more comment. Oh no you actually said the dreaded phrase " I don't even feel it back thier " Trust me when your going 75mph on the highway going home in a crosswind with 250 lbs of stuff hanging on the back of your high clearance 10 foot tall trailer with a short wheelbase LC you will eat this words. They call them wobblies in Australia 😉

      17-18mpg with e-load tires = approx 300 miles to empty.

    I love the camper and the idea of it
    Only thing I have to complain about in this video is the toyota
    I believe toyota, as a brand epically failed with their new generation vehicles especially the tacoma's 4runner tundra and land cruiser
    They have created a motor and transmission in hopes of better emissions and fuel economy and epically failed.
    Yes, the emissions may be better, but if the fuel economy is shit you have to fuel up more, which means more fuel consumption, more semi.Trucks on the road, delivering the fuel overall more of a loss then just crap emission
    They have managed to also make a more complicated yet less reliable vehicle they added a turbo to a four cylinder ,That's more parts being manufactured it has a complicated electrical system, even more parts that have to be replaced on top of it already being provingly unreliable transmissions, going out at a thousand miles. engines completely crapping out because of metal shavings ect they've caused more of a problem then they have fixed, if they would have stuck with the 4.0 or the 3.5 (its also a pretty good engine i dont think its as good as the older 3.4 but still) with a simple 5 or 6 speed trans i think the new generation would be great
    It would be a much needed interior refresh but with the same old reliable powertrain platform, that's why the saying of why change something that ain't broke came about... that's why I get tired of car review channels saying, "Oh, it's an old motor it's been around forever. A refresh would be nice exactly, it's been around forever why change something that just works even if it may be slightly worse in emissions, it's still going to save pollution from not breaking down as much less of them going to junkyards, because they're just simply to expensive to fix less parts needing to be made
    But anyway, this is just an opinion from a truck driver who travels the country

    What’s the point of a 4 banger turbo when it gets the same gas mileage as a robust 6 cylinder would? For ease of maintenance and less complexity I’d take a non hybrid if there is no real fuel economy advantage. But I “get it” Toyota has to do this to beat government regulations smh

    Ryan, do you think the fuel tank is something Toyota works to correct in the short/mid term, or is that more of a "maybe in the next generation" kind of a change? I love the LC and am thinking of getting one at some point but it would be kind of unfortunate to go to something that has a smaller tank than my Outback while being even thirstier.

    • @drivingsports
      @drivingsports  Месяц назад +5

      I would be surprised if they change it anytime soon. But considering how many changes they just rolled into the GR Corolla anything as possible. I’m just not sure if they have room back there.
