Kevin Bacon was, as he told it, miserable while making this film; he called his wife crying that he was making a film about giant worms and thought it was the end of his acting career. He's later come to really love his involvement in this film, as it is now one of the most iconic movies he's ever been in.
Honestly a lesson that sometimes we don't know how things will pan out later in life. So don't stress too much. (now if only I could take that advice 😩)
I read somewhere that the reason this movie just "works" is cuz...all the characters seem "real" and respect each other. The movie doesn't follow typical creature/slasher flick tropes; The scientist doesn't hold herself above everyone, refusing to hear out the "lamens" but instead listens to people, the towns people aren't stupid for the sake of "shocking content" and all make decisions that seem practical/expected, and as fantastical as the premise seems, it has been grounded in the reality of the decision making and character relationships....and ever since I read that, I can't not watch this movie without seeing all of it and just smiling so big hehe what a treat and guilty pleasure!!!
Also Rhonda doesn't magically know all sorts of things about the threat that she really _shouldn't_ be able to know when encountering it for the first time, that's another common problem with "scientist" characters in films, them being used by the writers to dispense information without considering if they should actually be able to know the things that they are saying.
Saw Dead Meat do kill count for this series and said pretty much the same thing. They make plans that are smart but shit happens they couldn’t predict which causes the plans to fail. Nobody, except for some side characters in three, are stupid.
The actress who played Mindy, Ariana Richards, was also the young girl in Jurassic Park (and she's in one of my favorite movies, "Angus"). She's a painter now. Her work is at "GalleryAriana", portraits and landscapes. Beautiful work.
I was thinking the same thing. The scripting, chemistry, acting, fun, setting are all top notch. Amazing and underrated movie. Just makes you feel good.
This movie's a classic, just pure and simple fun, and the basement sequence is one of the best monster movie scenes ever. And I kinda wish the movie hadn't cut out a certain something, that being Melvin's backstory, especially since it would've taken like just 30 to 60 seconds to set it up. Melvin's story that got cut is that his parents spend almost all their time living large in Las Vegas and leave him in Perfection all by himself. This kid suffers from parental abandonment, living in a town with a population of less than 20 people and no one of his own age, which makes his dumb pranks make sense, because they're the only way this teenage boy can think of to get any attention from the people around him. The movie's script also cut out a little old lady and her dog also living in town, they would've been the first victims after the graboids invade the town and attack Melvin and the others.
Not only did Val & Earl get on the cover of both "People" and "National Geographic" Magazines, but Burt & Heather get on the cover of "Soldier of Fortune" Magazine as well. Why do I know this? While I would not have believed such a thing was possible, not only is Tremors 2 not horrible, but it is just as good and fun of a film.
"Fun" is the operative word with this movie. It's caught halfway between being a cult film and a forgotten one, but it had such a light fun vibe to it it's endlessly rewatchable.
"Thank God Rhonda's a little Simone Biles and always getting it done." I am laughing. Every filmmaker should hire you to sit in on the test screenings of their movies, Alanda. 12:10 .375 Harrington & Harrington Magnum (more commonly called .375 H&H Magnum) is a caliber worthy of safari-grade big game. The bullet, itself, isn't all that huge (compared to, say, 50 BMG), but the cartridge packs a lot of powder and the round goes really fast. As we find out later, though, a scope is just a hindrance since it cuts off peripheral vision. What a fun reaction 😄 I remember seeing this in the theater, there weren't many people in the audience but we sure had a great time! All I know about Finn Carter (Rhonda) was that I recognized her from _As the World Turns_ because my mom used to watch that soap, and she was one of those people I'd see occasionally in bit parts on other TV shows. Have you seen _Apollo 13_ yet? If not, definitely add that one to your list, it's got Kevin Bacon along with Tom Hanks, Gary Sinise, and Bill Paxton
Thank you!! I love a Soap star, I had no clue. I used to watch Passions with my Great Aunt when I was home sick from school. 😂 I have vague memories of Apollo 13. Not sure I've ever seen it in it's entirety 🤔
The next three movies are worth watching as well. Michael Gross (Burt) is in all of them, and Fred Ward returns for the second one. The third one has Arianna Richards (Mindy) in a small role. Those two movies greatly expand the lore around the creatures. The fourth film is a prequel set in the old west with Burt's ancestor. After that, the sequels went downhill. They switched from practical effects to CGI, which I wouldn't have minded if it was done well, but it's not. Also, they changed the design of the creatures for no reason other than to make them look more menacing. Burt is the only returning character. There was a one season TV show on the SciFi Channel which also starred Gross, and Christopher Lloyd, and which branched out to include other creatures. In 2018, Kevin Bacon returned to film the pilot for a new Tremors TV show. Unfortunately it didn't get picked up and as far as I know, it's never been shown or released. It's the only Tremors project that Michael Gross wasn't in.
Tremors is my favorite horror series. I had so much fun watching you have so much with it. If you're up for it, I highly suggest watching the rest. The rest need to be watched in order except for the 4th one. I think you would like the 4th one best. It's a prequel that takes place in the old west.
I can't remember if I saw this in the theater or just rented it after it came out on VHS. Either way, it's definitely NOT something I would have thought my mother would have been interested in, but she wanted to see it for some reason. Maybe because we'd enjoyed Fred Ward in Remo Williams, five years earlier. At any rate , a good time was had by all. Your commentary cracks me up. My face hurts from smiling. This needs more likes.
Rhonda was played by Finn Carter, who started off in soap operas but who ended up becoming a pretty ubiquitous character actor during the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. She managed to avoid the "only wives, girlfriends, and mothers" trap that a lot of B-list and C-list female actors fall into by way of being a very physically capable athlete who did her own stunts. (As a result, she fell into the "cops, government agents, and soldiers" trap. 😆). Ironically given how many cops she has played, she got involved with some people who were stealing credit card numbers and is now doing a stretch for grand larceny and receiving stolen property, which is why you don't see her around anymore.

Omg, I used to have nightmares about Tremors as a kid, lol.
Even when I was a kid watching this for the first time, it was way more funny than scary.
Thanks for posting this fabulous movie! When I saw it at the theater people applauded for
Miss Reba at the end. lol
Great movie. I never get tired of watching it.
You describing Mindy as a popcicle for the Graboid, 🤣 I’ll think of you every time I watch this movie from now on, genius!👍🏼
Love watching reactions of someone who’s never seen this.
This is my new favorite reaction channel, omg I had to replay so many bits a couple times!
Tremors is my favorite horror series. I had so much fun watching you have so much with it. If you're up for it, I highly suggest watching the rest. The rest need to be watched in order except for the 4th one. I think you would like the 4th one best. It's a prequel that takes place in the old west.
I’m so happy you are watching this.
Tremors is my all time fav franchise and I hope you watch the other six movies.
I’m ashamed when people ask what other reason i like this movie so much. It wasn’t Kevin Bacon. Fred Ward, damn did he become a favorite.
The choice of movies continues to be excellent!
"Trapped in the car like Cujo." xD
Seriously, though, very depressing book.
your channel and your reactions have been getting me THROUGH!!! thank you!! you are awesome!!!
Finn Carter (Rhonda) was on as the world turns for years. We enjoyed seeing her work in this movie
Just started and this is one of my FAVORITE horror movies!
This is my absolute favorite movie. I love, LOVE, this film.
Tremors is one of those recurring family movies. You know the ones that if they're on we're all gonna watch it.
Val described himself. He fit the description of the woman he described. 😂😂😂
19:20 does this building even have a real foundation lol had me rolling… so true
This was so much fun to watch :D
Classic..... right up there with Mars Attack
😆). Ironically given how many cops she has played, she got involved with some people who were stealing credit card numbers and is now doing a stretch for grand larceny and receiving stolen property, which is why you don't see her around anymore.
oh my god! what a saga 🥴
This film is such a fun ride. 👍
I am all about Rhonda. She was most famous for a soap but she's in one of my favorite little known comedies, How I Got into College.
I watched this movie as a kid on Telemundo so it was in Spanish. The channel used to play movies all the time. But this movie is a classic and I never get bored watching it :) your reactions were funny. 😂 I’m watching more of your videos. Glad I found this channel.
Loved your comment about the craziest parade in Perfection 🥰😂. First time I ever heard a comment like that😂🥰😂. Great reaction!❤️❤️
One of my favourite films. I’ve seen it loads of times and seeing this video is as close as I’ll get to seeing it for the first time, and that’s a gift.
I still want some theater to do a re-release so I can finally see this in a theater.
If you've seen it, Mindy the little girl, she was in Jurassic Park as well, as Hammond's Grand Daughter Lex
Such a fun, old-fashioned monster movie. I think most kids can handle this.
Victor Wong who played Walter the general store owner, was also in Big Trouble in Little China. He played Egg Shen.
Damn you are just checking so many classic movies off the list! I love it!
A delight as always :)
I thank the algorithms above for suggesting your videos to me.
i dont normally care for reactions but your personality is golden! thanks for making my day!
Fun, and funny as hell... Love this film. Wait until the next one.
Love this Classic...RIP Fred Ward😪
Burt reminds me of my Grandpa. Taught me how to load and fire a rifle at the age of five, a civil war field mortar at ten...
I thoroughly enjoyed watching you enjoy one of my all time favorite movies. My grandson and I watched it frequently while he was growing up. He ended up calling his bicycle Burt Gummer. You brought light to my evening watching this movie with you. I really enjoyed our date, still smiling. Thank you 💕
some movies just hit this magic balance of horror and hilarious.... TY so much for doing this!!! I am still trying to find your reactions to LEGEND and Dark Crystal. ♥♥ loving you chan, just found you today.
Your reactions and facial expressions are just so terrific!!
People forget that Country Music legend Reba McEntire started her acting career in this movie… and legit she has one of the smallest, yet, significant roles in the film.
When I saw this as a kid with my dad I immediately went out to my sandbox in the backyard with my little green army men and replayed the whole movie there. Swear words included, my mother overheard me and that got my dad in trouble for showing me this movie. Didn’t stop him from watching Alien and Aliens with me though 😁.
