I recently watched the TV series, and it was better than I thought it would be. It's far from a masterpiece, but after Tremors 3 (which I thought was the lowest point in the whole franchise), it was a breath of fresh air.
The early scene where they talk about not being able to recruit Val makes me wonder if that was an in-joke about not being able to get Kevin Beacon back, or if they always intended to not have him return. Similar with Burt being divorced, was that just a writing decision, or was it just because they couldn't get an actress back?
@@RipOffProductionsLLC Pretty sure it was casting based. Kevin Bacon didn't come around to liking the series until later on, and I've read that Reba regretted acting in a film that her son was too young to watch, didn't want to do another one too old for him.

Too bad Kevin Bacon wasn't in this movie, as well as Reba MacIntire, but it was fun to see Fred Ward reprise his role as Earl Bassett, as him and a new rookie monster hunter fight off a highly evolved species of Graboid.
Yeah Kevin and Fred had the perfect chemistry! And Reba was a badass in the first film. Still managed to make a super fun sequel with the cast and budget they had available!
this was the first Tremors movie i saw, i very young and watched it 'illegally' on TV against my parental guidance (yuckyuck).. i still think it's my favorite despite most the original cast dipping out..
Not sure why Reba wasn't in it (was she doing her sitcom at the time?) But Bacon, I think the problem was (as I stated in my own post) they waited too long. If they had made this in 1991 or 1992 they'd probably have a better chance of landing Bacon but by this point he was already becoming a more "respected" actor (and he deserved to be) and his schedule and price range were beyond doing a Tremors sequel. Their presence certainly would've helped.
@@chrismcelligott5462 yeah I wasn't sure. I'm still not sure he would have done it given by that point he was pretty established and his fee would've been too high. But who knows?
I believe the first 4 tremors movies are worth watching because in 3 they evolve again which is interesting to see and then 4 is interesting because it's a prequel taking place way in the past during the 1800s I think. But beyond that it gets repetitive and ridiculous. And yeah the character Bert is literally in most of them, if not all. He even plays the role of his ancestor in the 4th movie lol
Fun Fact: The matte painting of the blown up refinery? The director of this film S. S. Wilson (who also wrote the first film) got to keep it after production wrapped!
I loved the Tremor movies because the characters thought of creative ways of getting out of bad situations, thinking on their feet. I love movies like that to not giving up and keeping coming up with solutions.
Tremors 2 was one of those movies that was CONSTANTLY on cable in the late 90's. I'd be in the most random places like a tire shop on a Saturday afternoon and sure enough it was on the TV on the USA network. Personally, 2 is my favorite.
_"Well, when the radios went out, I decided to return to the refinery. But en route, I find I'M IN AN AMBUSH SITUATION! Must have been a couple dozen of these things! Well, I dropped the first wave with semi-auto fire, but they just kept coming! Sheer luck most of them were in front of the truck, so I just popped it into six-wheel and ran 'em down! The ones that got on board I handled with a combination of small-arms fire and hand-to-hand techniques. I am completely. Out. Of ammo! That's never happened to me before..."_
If you can find it, there was a TV series that went for one season between Tremors 3 and 4. It had appearances from Christopher Lloyd and Michael Rooker, among others.
If we are being honest Burt's plans usually amount to shooting everything. And that is not the worst plan ever... except when you are out of ammo. Yes I am also a gun nut, and yes Burt is my spirit animal.
He's also in the short lived TV series for the most part. Minus one or two episodes but they give a reason for him not to be in the episode. Like he's doing some promotional speaking or something.
Love this movie, just as good as the first one, wish Kevin Bacon would have made an appearance but its just as fun. That explosion at the end is so amazing, one of the best in the business
Kevin Bacon actually came back as Val for a second attempt at a TV series that had a pilot shot for it in 2017 but SyFy passed on it for some reason. I doubt it was any worse than the later sequels.
I love how this takes Tremors in a different way from the first one, kind of like how Alien/Aliens 2 and Terminator/Terminator 2 all took what existed and then shifted the style while retaining the entertainment value.
They kind of have to, since the first one in these is about discovery and demystification. You can't really play that card in the sequel even if you change stuff, because the characters already have some kind of idea. It was one of the most impactful periods in their lives, so they'd have some kind of a reference point. They wouldn't be as surprised. The same goes for the audience. Compare to Police Academy, which is just humour. They could play the same idea over and over again, except that they kept running out of jokes and had to recycle them and then had to change other things to make it seem fresh. Too bad they couldn't really write enough new jokes and think outside the box, since that's what really killed that series. The characters don't get that stale if they can keep bringing out new jokes besides a bit of something new.
I remember when Michael Gross was Michael J Foxe's dad in the 80's sitcom Family Ties. Gross was the old hippy dad, no pollution, no junk food, no wars, and.....no guns. HA.... I'm half way to having Burt's rec room. Minus the C-4 of course. I'm only licensed to shoot fireworks. The only thing I've got underground on my land..... are woodchucks. Boy are they mean.
"Did you check all your pockets!?" Me and my brother have been quoting that line for YEARS but neither of us could remember where it was from. Now I know.
@@TBRSchmitt Everyone uses the word "Evolution" but it's more accurately termed "development / life cycle". Technically evolution only applies to entirely new generations of totally different individuals (i.e. from egg to egg), not one individual becoming a different form (i.e. metamorphosis).
Burt Gummer has always been my greatest hero and role model because of theses first two movies as a kid. My first vehicle ever in high-school was an m35a1 military Deuce and a Half, specifically because of this movie, lol. I shot my dad's AK-47 when I was 5yo, bought a Rouger 10/22 for my 12th birthday, then got my own AK-47 when I turned 13yo. Now days I have dozens and dozens of fires. Anything from little. .22cals, up to 37mm launchers. I think he'll always be my greatest role model!
Fun fact about the rattlesnakes its also why their also called "Pit Vipers" because they belong to a family of snakes that have heat-sensing glands (pits) located on either side of the triangle-shaped head.
Tremors is one of my favorite movies of all time, and I can easily watch most of the sequels and enjoy them. I'm so glad you guys are enjoying these movies.
3 and 4 are worth the watch, if just for Burt. The ones after that are HIGHLY questionable, since they tend to lean heavily into the cheese, but are fun enough to kill some time.
You two should watch the third one. Tremors 3: Back to Perfection, it brings back classic characters and finishes the Graboid story arc. Everything after the third is just redundant, but the third is the last original one, and worth the watch.
Fred Ward is always great fun and turns any movie he's in into pure gold. He's one of the most unsung Hollywood actors. Basically a character actor with star potential. I first saw him in Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins (Remo: Unarmed and Dangerous in the UK, which I think was a cooler title). He took the lead role. That movie was a lot of fun. He was also in Escape From Alcatraz with Clint Eastwood and The Naked Gun 33 1/3. If you like Fred Ward, you should really check out those movies.
So glad you gave Tremors 2 a chance. It's so overlooked. I don't like any of the other sequels, but I think Tremors 2 is one of the rare horror sequels that are really good. Well, it's more comedy than horror, but you get my meaning.
The guy who bought it from the Val and Earl in the first named them graboids for his exhibit I think. Wait until all the other forms of graboid. Keep going.
@@bookcollector538 I'm glad to hear it. I bought the entire collection, haven't watched them all yet though. I figured the effects would wane with the budget. As long as they are entertaining, sall good.
I love this line. I am pretty sure we don’t get to know their names till later in the franchise. He has literally mentioned in the middle of the first film. They literally have an argument over what they call these things and the person who named them literally shouts out their name
This movie was supposed to be in theaters, but the studio wasn't confident in it, so the budget got cut and released straight to video. I think that's the reason for the smaller cast and the rather distracting CGI. The location was also changed from the Australian outback to Mexico. In my opinion 3 and 4 are just as good as this one, and I'm a little surprised to hear some people don't like them.
31:20 All snakes can see heat and will attack or defend themselves against warm-blooded creatures, it is also how they locate their food, their eyes are very primitive and can only register basic shapes but their cheeks are pitted with holes known as "heat pits" that let them build up an image in front of them of what is warm and what is cold. This is why owners of snakes have to warm their food, they won't eat anything they can't see.

23:55 “Why do they not have the monitor on them?” Me: Earl sat it down nearby. It makes a little beeping noise when a graboid is approaching. Plus, the damage done to Pedro’s truck and the display of his remains wasn’t really consistent with a graboid like at all.
Btw, when the movie was scripted for a theatrical release, Burt brought a tank, but after they only got cleared for a direct to video release, they had to cut that out But it makes more sence he brought a Truk, since the Mexican army has no tanks
The first four movies are good. After that they start going downhill a little bit mainly because they start using CGI too much, but they're still not bad enough to wear I won't watch them if they come on TV. Once you get invested in Burt being in all of them you really just have to watch them all to see where it goes because Michael Gross is just so entertaining and to see what new graboid morphs appear.
The last one was stupid they made the shriekers dumb and they would play and lick there food where in the 2nd one that would attack and kill it right away.

@@dr.burtgummerfan439 And I love that they actually show that, too. Like how he catches up to Earl and Grady's score in this one despite them having a big head-start on him, and how Tremors 3 shows him on a very successful Shrieker hunt before the main action starts.
Yep, the next film is good, too. And as others have said, the 4th is a prequel, and not terrible. Quality does start to diminish as the franchise separated from its original creators. Michael Gross is the only common factor, as Burt. He's always fun. The third film goes back to Perfection.
Wow almost an hour vid on Tremors II, I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming, thank you for watching this film, I love this series and I hope there's enough views and comments on this that make you consider the 3rd film, so you can find out what 'ass blasters' are lol. Oh and the 4th film is a Western, you were wanting more of those right. Great reaction, made me very happy. :)
Fun fact: For those who don't know what the bipedal creatures are, they're called Shriekers. Only three grow and develop inside one Graboid. But here's the catch, they eat their way out the worm and when they eat a certain amount they reproduce. So in total a single Graboids will have three Shriekers and when they are free those Shriekers straight away give rise to six or even nine Shriekers. With those information in mind, there would've been a lot more Shriekers in Tremors 2 than what the characters thought, the reason we don't see ALL the Shriekers is most likely because some have moved on to different regions. Graboids in the 2003 TV series Tremors The Series, Burt explains that Graboids are now known to be in different regions and that there are different subspecies of the North American Graboids, this is likely due to the fact that the Shriekers move from one place to another. Shriekers will also turn into the Ass-Blasters which resembles Shriekers except they glide, Ass-Blasters also carry Graboids eggs and deposit them in secluded areas which will then hatch into new Graboids. It's unknown if the Ass-Blasters die after laying the eggs or they just move on. Another is that the Graboids appearing in the Precambrian is false, during the Precambrian period there were no large animals for the Graboids to feed on. Instead the Precambrian was home to microscopic animals and some soft-bodied organisms, it's likely that the Graboids appeared during the Devonian period or the Triassic when there were sizeable animals for them to feed on. It's also still possible they may still have an extraterrestrial origin since their life cycle is unlike any organism on Earth. Just watched this video right now, and hope you guys go round to watching the other Tremors films and the TV series. You're guaranteed to like them if not enjoy them in the very least. My family and I have all seven films and the entire TV series, originally they were gonna make a season two of Tremors The Series but it was cancelled and discontinued due to another series being loved by viewers which is a huge bummer. Comment made: 2:33 AM Sunday, May 14 2023
Tremors introduced Graboids, Tremors 2 introduced Shriekers, and Tremors 3 introduced something else (I decided not to spoil it). I agree in general that the other direct-to-video movies and the TV series weren't much worth watching, except Tremors 3. I liked what that sequel added to the franchise. Hey, when are you watching E.T.?
I think the graboids came across a smarter in the first one because there were more than one in the same areas they could watch how the other ones died or they might get distracted with a trick once but weren't killed so then they figured out it was a trick for the next time. Whereas in this one their first encounter with the people they get killed if there's no one else around to learn from it you can use the same trick again. I recommend the first four movies
So glad you guys reacted to this. So many people stop after the first Tremors. Yours is one of the only few Tremors 2 reactions out there. I've always enjoyed it just about as much as part 1. Tremors 3 is ok, then after that... they get kinda CGI crazy. I think there's 8 films (mostly starring Burt with a few Perfection character cameos).

I'm not too much of a gun enthusiast IRL, but I absolutely love Burt Gummer. Whether you think the sequels stink or are okay, whenever he shows up, it's all worth the watch.
Burt makes the later sequels somewhat tolerable to an extent, especially the last couple of them. God those were nearly insufferable to get through with their super low budgets and terrible acting.
I love the tremors movies and grew up with 1 2 and 3. I would LOVE for you to react to #3 before you're finished with this franchise. There's one more big surprise you need to experience.
Honestly, I've seen all of these except the very last one, but I will. Bert is in every single one, and his character stays the same. So if you love Bert, I'd keep watching these. They do become silly monster lovies, but sometimes those are still just as fun. Perfect popcorn movies.
Earl (Fred Ward) has a long list of good movies out: Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins, Southern Comfort (great cast and story), Miami Blues, Timerider, Big Business (hilarious, great cast), Thunderheart ( cast and story), Uncommon Valor (Gene Hackman)
In 1982 I was in a band just to be in a band. It was started by Joanelle Romero, an L.A. actor. We played a few gigs and the last job played we were at the Troubador in West Hollywood and did our set and they played a blues and I was invited to solo and I cut loose. The set ended and Helen Shaver, the hot woman in this film, grabbed me and hugged me and said "guitar hero!" and planted a big wet kiss on my face. I was not a big fan of the band but those 2 months were worth that one moment.

You two have to check out the third Tremors because in that movie they go back to Perfection. Miguel, the mom, her daughter & Melvin are in it. And of course Burt Gunner himself! It’s a lot of fun too and the monsters definitely keep evolving.
This second one is awesome too. The Graboid hunting at the start is hilarious, and the Shriekers' design works as a good looking counterpart to the Graboids, while being different enough to pose a real challenge to those familiar with the Graboids, with their own strengths and weaknesses. And as learned in the third one, the Graboid life cycle makes sense if you accept that the metamorphosis is plausible.

Kevin Bacon couldn't do this one because he doing A Few Good Men at the time
@@chrismcelligott5462 yeah I wasn't sure.
I loved the later ones too, the shot of Burts bare ass is priceless lol.
Spoiler alert!
4 is best,1,then 2,then 3. 5+ are non-canon,
All the sequels were terribly awful with the worst cgi effects.
@@Carnage1975 I think Tremors 1 through 4 are definitely cheesy but fun to watch. Beyond that though it's repetitive nonsense in my opinion
"I feel I was denied.. critical.. NEED TO KNOW.. information." has gotta be my favourite Burt Gummer Line.
Yeah, that was always the best part of them. The people were smart. They were scared, but not witless.
My childhood, I had the 1st through 4 movies on DVD, 3 & 4 were good but the 1st and 2nd movie will always be the greatest ones.
As a kid I found this more exciting then the first. Prob just cause remote control cars and more guns. But that’s just me
That does make a lot of kid logic sense! As an adult, I am still jealous of that remote control tank lol
Yeh I did too plus the CGI 2 legged ones looked ok for back then
The sequels start to decline and become almost MST3K material. This 2nd is still watchable
@@peterreist2882 the last one that came out on Netflix like a year ago is such trash. It’s almost funny.
@@peterreist2882 yeh I like the 2nd but after that they are horrid for me
Tremors 2 was one of those movies that was CONSTANTLY on cable in the late 90's.
And a lot of the original movie cast.
If we are being honest Burt's plans usually amount to shooting everything. And that is not the worst plan ever... except when you are out of ammo. Yes I am also a gun nut, and yes Burt is my spirit animal.
Everybody should have a friend like Bert.
Amazing sequel to the original.
Really is a solid sequel, which is difficult to achieve!
@@TBRSchmitt yes but alot of poeple still died but only two after the hunters showed up.
Burt is in all 7 Tremors movies
Tremors 4 is a prequel
Tremors 5 is in Africa
Tremors 6 is in the Artic
Tremors 7 is on an island
He's also in the short lived TV series for the most part. Minus one or two episodes but they give a reason for him not to be in the episode. Like he's doing some promotional speaking or something.
Love this movie, just as good as the first one, wish Kevin Bacon would have made an appearance but its just as fun. That explosion at the end is so amazing, one of the best in the business
Accomplished using REAL high explosives, too!
"Is it gonna be today?" "Grady GET DOWN!" On repeat in my head during movie explosion scenes lol
"Did you check all your pockets!?"
Me and my brother have been quoting that line for YEARS but neither of us could remember where it was from. Now I know.
29:39
That reaction. 🤣
"Shut up, lady."
Easily my favorite of the series. The shriekers are a fun idea, and the montage of them hunting is an absolute blast.
A clever evolution of the graboids!
Now time for the assblasters! XD
I liked that part too- reminded me of me and my dad fishing haha :D
"You put a whole new shine on the word overkill." A line from Burt early in Tremors 3 sums it up perfectly: "Overkill is Underrated!"
Another movie with Fred Ward (Earl) you might want to check out, Remo William's. It's an 80s movie. It's great. Really liked the reaction.
Absolutely. Remo Williams is 100% worth doing a reaction too.
Great suggestion, Remo is definately worth a watch.
3 & 4 are still good, the only downside is the CGI. The rest are a different batch, they're fine if you can't have enough Tremors.
after 4 they went very sharknado, which can still be fun but definitely not for everyone
Ward is also in a great movie with Gene Hackman called Uncommon Valor.
@@TowGunner Hackman and Ward together, that's old fashioned quality right there.
So glad you gave Tremors 2 a chance. It's so overlooked. I don't like any of the other sequels, but I think Tremors 2 is one of the rare horror sequels that are really good. Well, it's more comedy than horror, but you get my meaning.
The single greatest direct-to-video sequel ever!
The guy who bought it from the Val and Earl in the first named them graboids for his exhibit I think.
Wait until all the other forms of graboid. Keep going.
Fred Ward was great in this. Too bad this was the only sequel with him.
Yeah he is great! Helped make it a solid sequel!
@@bookcollector538 I do love Burt.
Can you believe there are 7 of these? Lol
It's also great because it's a direct sequel so it has the same feel of existing in the same timeline as the first movie.
Burt Gummer is my favorite character from the Tremors movies 😁
31:20 All snakes can see heat and will attack or defend themselves against warm-blooded creatures, it is also how they locate their food, their eyes are very primitive and can only register basic shapes but their cheeks are pitted with holes known as "heat pits" that let them build up an image in front of them of what is warm and what is cold. This is why owners of snakes have to warm their food, they won't eat anything they can't see.
please don't stop at 2. they DO go downhill a bit but please do 3 and 4. maybe even the tv series.
I agree-
I actually enjoy different aspects of most of these movies including the sequels (EXCEPT for #6- that one didn't do anything for me lol).
It might be because I watched Tremors 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 over and over while I was job hunting for online jobs at the start of the pandemic, and so many aspects of each of those movies reminded me of my endeavor. For example during Tremors 2 here, the "fishing / trolling" for graboids reminded me of my job-hunting / applying process.
During the scene when they had just gotten stuck on the rock with their truck and they saw a LOT of graboids coming at them all at once, that reminded me of one time when I had an equal number of interviews coming at me from all angles LOL :P
This channel deserves to be WAY bigger than it is
So glad I found this channel (by accident). I'm a movie buff and have seen nearly all the movies you have reviewed so far. Looking forward to your reviews on ALL Tremors (and Die Hard) movies.
Please don't wait till next Christmas for Die Hard 3
Awesome! Thank you for the support! Haha we definitely will not wait until next Christmas for Die Hard 3!
Die Hard 3 is NOT a Christmas movie.
@@TBRSchmitt Die Hard 3 is the best of the series i think!
I don’t know if you two have noticed this but Kate Riley is the same type of woman that Val described that he wanted.
I was always amazed that Grady and Earl never blew themselves up along with the graboids.
Happy you guys are continuing the series. Nobody is continuing it so far. I watched the beginning of the last one, will try to finish it.
Y’all gotta watch tremors 3 for sure my personal favorite. All three make a pretty good trilogy.
SO awesome and amazing to see you guys react to the second in the series, which almost no one has really. A shame, since it's a very worthy sequel and great flick all in its own right. But you guys clearly enjoyed the hell out of it and glad to watch you guys do so!
Really dug you guys showed a slightly longer than usual react on this one, even more of a treat!
Keep up the great work TBR and Sam! 😉
23:55 “Why do they not have the monitor on them?”
Me: Earl sat it down nearby. It makes a little beeping noise when a graboid is approaching. Plus, the damage done to Pedro’s truck and the display of his remains wasn’t really consistent with a graboid like at all.
Rip in peace Fred Ward (Earl)
Btw, when the movie was scripted for a theatrical release, Burt brought a tank, but after they only got cleared for a direct to video release, they had to cut that out
But it makes more sence he brought a Truk, since the Mexican army has no tanks
I liked Earl more than Val actually overall and also, I enjoyed part 2 more
100% Agreed
I just found out that Fred Ward died. RIP sir.
Think the first 2 are really the good ones, 3 and 4 get pretty cheesy and beyond that they just go even further downhill.
The last one was stupid they made the shriekers dumb and they would play and lick there food where in the 2nd one that would attack and kill it right away.
I encourage you to react to 3 and 4 as well. That will allow you to see the whole life cycle of the graboid and the first four are the best ones.

I saw this one before the original, and I fell in love with this since then.
Episodes 1, 2, and 4 (the Western prequel) make a nice trilogy. Looking forward to your review of 4 as its “back to basics” with nice period-piece touches.
After 4 it pretty much veers into SyFy channel quality filmmaking unfortunately. Not quite Sharknado bad but pretty close.
I love this franchise! It's so cool that each new movie reveals something new about the life cycle of the creatures.
They have to keep Burt on his toes. He always prepared (because he's Burt) so they have to keep throwing curves or it would be too easy.
@@dr.burtgummerfan439 And I love that they actually show that, too. Like how he catches up to Earl and Grady's score in this one despite them having a big head-start on him, and how Tremors 3 shows him on a very successful Shrieker hunt before the main action starts.
Please watch "Harry and the Hendersons" (1987)! It's one of my favorite childhood movies! (OSCAR for Best Makeup for Rick Baker!)
This is like watching the Jaws sequels. Part one is all you need.
Yep, the next film is good, too. And as others have said, the 4th is a prequel, and not terrible. Quality does start to diminish as the franchise separated from its original creators. Michael Gross is the only common factor, as Burt. He's always fun. The third film goes back to Perfection.
30:05 Grady and Earl left their gun in the truck, something you never do. 😅
I enjoyed all but one of the Tremor movies, but Tremors 4: The Legend Begins is my favorite.

In the rest of the Tremors stuf(the films and the TV show) Burt is the main carictor. apart from the one film that's set in the old west.
YES! I'm here for it.
Perfect!
I always liked 4 more than 3, 3 was always such a turd until the new sequels came out and made it look good
I only remember 7 films.
But I actually enjoy different aspects of most of these movies including the sequels (EXCEPT for #6- that one didn't do anything for me lol).

Some low budget yet high quality fun!
The blast at the end is just incredible!
:50 no they definitely came up with the name in the first movie. 😂 It was a talk between Wong, Earl, I think Kevin Bacon. I was just talking to each other just pick it off names, and all the sudden somebody said the name graboid.
Nice to see this sequel getting a reaction, the first 3 were always on TV when I was a kid.
This is where we see Burt become the main star of the series and the next stage of the graboid life cycle
Need to see Fred Ward in his own movie Remo Williams:The Adventure begins (1985)
And him with a great cast in Uncommon Valor (1983)
I love the tremors movies and grew up with 1 2 and 3. I would LOVE for you to react to #3 before you're finished with this franchise. There's one more big surprise you need to experience.
This is one of those rare examples of the sequel being as good or better than the original!
tremors 1 and 3 are both on my top 5 favorite movies
I don't quite understand why I like watching movies I've already seen like this with ya'll but fk it, I love it. It's Sunday morning, watching this again, loving every second of your reactions
I like Aftershocks as much as the first. You can probably end your Tremors odyssey here lol
Yes! Thank God someone followed up with the sequel! This is the best one in my opinion
Tremors 3 was pretty good! They are worth watching just for Bert.
And as learned in the third one, the Graboid life cycle makes sense if you accept that the metamorphosis is plausible.
i remember renting this movie 3 fridays in a row with my friends back in the day.
fun weekend movie when you're 12 yrs old.
