We wish all the best to Bruce Willis and his family. An incredible acting career that will continue to be enjoyed and celebrated as he retires to focus on health and his loved ones
The man's career spans longer than most people have been alive. His legacy and impact on the world are not overlooked and he will not be forgotten. Thankyou Bruce
"Moonlighting" was not a comedy. It was an hour drama with comedic overtones because of the situation, at least the first two seasons. Great show ahead of its time. The blonde girlfriend from "Taxi Driver" , Cybil Shepard was the co lead with Bruce Willis. You should watch it on your channel.
It’s hard to remember a time when he wasn’t a superstar,I saw Die Hard theatrically at 8 years old so it’s like he’s always been around. I’m not sure what was wrong with my parents for letting that happen😜
Please make sure to get the "Unrated" version of Die Hard 4. It was the first PG-13 theatrical release and that version is terrible. The unrated version is much better.
Such a great action movie which rarely gets mentioned these days. Great chemistry between Jackson and Willis also. It's a shame we won't get to see Bruce Willis in future roles but he had a great career and was part of some awesome films.
completely agree Bruce is amazing but I feel like for the past 10 years he has just been phoning it in and hasn't had that drive he did back in these days
Bruce Willis once tried to sue the state of Idaho because he was upset at the direction that the stream on his land flowed. And then he tried to sue an environmentalist group who ended up being a hunting group lol. Dude was something else.
For the water jugs, you fill the 3-gal jug fully. Pour that into the empty 5-gal jug. Repeat, but stop when the 5-gal jug is full. That leaves 1 gal in the 3-gal jug. Dump the 5-gal jug out completely. Then transfer the 1-gal from the smaller jug to the 5-gal jug. Fill the 3-gal jug again, and then add that to the 5-gal jug's 1 gal. The 1 gal that was in there plus 3 gal just added equals 4 gallons...if you have time to move that much water in and out of jugs.
However, they did it backwards. The second solution. 1. Fill the 5 gallon jug. 2. Pour 3 gallons into the 3 gallon jug. 3. Empty 3 gallon jug. 4. Put remaining 2 gallons into 3 gallon jug. 5. Fill 5 gallon jug. 6. Pour 1 gallon into 3 gallon jug (which already has 2 gallons in it) leaving 4 gallons in the 5 gallon jug.
Or you could fill the 5-gal fully then fill the 3-gal from the 5-gal which leaves 2-gal in the 5-gal jug. Then transfer the 2-gal to the 3-gal jug, then refill the 5-gal fully then fill the rest of the 3-gal jug from the full 5-gal jug, and that leaves 4-gal in the 5-gal jug.
@@yendub This is the faster solution, which I imagine is why they chose it. You see these types of puzzles a lot in video games, KOTOR did the same thing, but you were transferring power between pillars instead of water in jugs.
[Disarmed] Your solution is the more common one I've heard, specifically because it should be able to do it faster than my solution, and it's clearly the solution they chose in the movie. I just like offering alternate solutions.
That is a solution but not the solution they used in the film. -In the film they fill the 5 gal jug - pour it into the 3 gal jug which leaves 2 gal in the 5 gal jug. -Dump the 3 gal and then pour in the 2 gal out of the 5 gal jug into the 3 gal jug. -Now you have 2 gal in the 3 gal jug -They fill up the 5 gal jug full and out of that pour into the 3 gal jug which already has 2 gal in it filling it -Which leaves exactly 4 gal left in the 5 gal jug. Most of the this ended on the cutting room floor - but they show the last step in the process the film.
This is easily the 2nd best Die Hard movie, only falling short of Die Hard itself. Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson were the duo we didn't know we needed, and Jeremy Irons is great as a villain.
This is definitely my favorite Die Hard movie. Part 1 was great but this one just has so many more moving parts and the director really did an awesome job of making everything fit together a fun cohesive manner. The director also directed Predator so it's no wonder that this movie is a great action flick.
This may actually be my favorite of the first 3. Not by a wide margin, mind you, as the first one will always be strong contender. But in terms of over all enjoyment, Vengeance just hits it right for me.
We finally get to see John McClain in his element, on his territory. Simple story, great characters, great writing with the callbacks. It's the best out of the series.
One of the rare case where the third one is the best of the franchise. I always preferred it a LOT, because the McClane-Zeus duo is SO good. Alchemy, incredible lines, good villain, action packed, thrilling from beginning to end
In an interview (2019) where they talked about Jackson's favorite characters that he played, Mitch Hennessy tops the list ruclips.net/video/VKXTX6OoRDo/видео.html
One of the last big budget action movies to use almost entirely practical effects. Everything from the opening explosion (they shut down that block for a few days to simulate that bomb), to the subway crash (real subway cars used) - that makes such a big difference imo. The CG effects used today can be brilliant and amazing, but they also usually always feel like a video game.
Actually, one of the reasons I defended the fourth film for many years is, aside from a couple of obvious examples near the very ending, they also used an impressive number of practical effects. Leaving some info out for Sam's sake, but for the movie's iconic trailer shot, they flung a real [redacted] through a real [redacted] hung from a crane (although they did, in my opinion, negatively impact the shot by adding a guy jumping to safety using greenscreen). For another scene, they built a three-story elevator shaft and hung a real [redacted] in it. I'm pretty sure I even saw a behind-the-scenes shot that revealed they built a contraption with one [redacted] on a spinning mechanism that would land it safely on top of two other [redacted], and then composited Bruce Willis and another actor ducking between them (the completed shot looks like CGI, but I at least admire the work they put in). I feel like the effort shows in the finished product, even if I would have really preferred if it were rated R (the "Unrated" version is an imitation, with 90% of the language added with ADR and blood composited in using CGI).
I was in high school when they made this. I'm so glad they made it in the summer because I heard from the adults in my family that the trains and basically all public transit and traffic were a nightmare all summer. The taxi chase basically shut down 8th avenue in midtown near my high school and several trains were rerouted so a thousand real people didn't walk out onto the set every 5 minutes. I'd have been late every day. You might say just get up 30 minutes earlier. The NYC public school day started at 8:15am and I was a teenager. There weren't enough pop tarts in the world to get me up before six.
It's about time a reactor got to this! Everyone starts it, maybe watches the second one, but no one moves onto maybe the best one of the three. Friggin love this movie, still quoting from it to this day.
@@szeddezs I know I'm in the minority, and totally get why, but I like Vengeance the best of them all. Die Hard leans into tropes and cliche too hard for me... They are both still 5 baggers though, don't get me wrong.
@@joelbyrnes6946 Die Hard and Vengeance are tied for me. I don't think it's crazy to like one more than the other. I go back and forth on which one I like more.
My friends and I snuck into this at the theater that summer when we were kids. It was my first time seeing any Die Hard movie and is still my sentimental favorite. Extremely rewatchable.
Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson starred together in M. Night Shyamalan's Unbreakable. Simply one of the best movies of all time. Please watch this movie. Greetings from Brazil :)
@@Canadian_Chris - Well, I guess there's no point in trying to keep it a secret any more, but the fact that Split was at all connected to Unbreakable was the surprise. Until then, it seemed like an unrelated movie, except for both having the same director. Only Glass brought characters from both of the two previous movies together.
I think they do not have a M. Night Shyamalan movie reaction yet. Unbreakable and Signs would be great. For more Bruce Willis, I would love to see a reaction to The Last Boy Scout.
This movie is definitely in the argument for sequels that are as good as the first. I also loved the cast, this one had so many memorable side characters.
The extras casting is amazing; I was especially impressed by the kid with the bikes, "You could steal City Hall!", the way he says it, sounds totally believable that you're watching something real, not a very young actor. The police station lady who yells at the bomb guy, the woman who screams on the train, it's like everyone involved really gave it their all.
@@mapesdhs597 he's not an extra, extras don't get lines of dialogue. he's a real actor, Patrick Borriello. he also played Calogero's friend Slick when they are younger in 'A Bronx Tale' and he was also in 'The Irishman' with De Niro, Pesci and Pacino. His father was John Gotti's best friend, bodyguard and driver, Bobby Boriello and his brother Bobby was an actor as well who played young Tony Soprano on 'The Sopranos'.
My brothers, their best friend, and I watched this in theaters when it was released that summer. Popcorn, soda, candy, and this film... one of the best summers ever! All of us saved up our money just to watch it together. It was so worth it! Great reaction guys!
Disappointed you cut out the basically "I'll take his arms, you grab his legs" joke, that was great 😄 Also, Die Hard Trilogy (1996) was a big hit for the original Playstation where people got to play parts from all 3 films! Edit: You should definitely watch the Lethal Weapon series for some buddy-cop action.
Summer of '95. Feels like yesterday. Such a ride in the theater. Fun fact: Zeus' youngest kid nephew has grown up to become actor Aldis Hodge - who played Jim Brown in last year's _One Night In Miami_ and will soon play Hawkman in The Rock's _Black Adam._
It's funny because now Edwin is the short brother. Also, his most notable role is probably from the purge films and the many tv shows he has acted in. It's weird but the hodge bros remind me of Wood Harris(the wire/Remember the Titans) and his bro Steve Harris(the Practice/ the Rock)
Ironically i was Exchange student om south africa then, and it was mid winter and freaking cool. Watched it like the last week prior to getting back to sweden.. was over 30C in sweden when I came back
It was Aldis and his brother Edwin. Both of them are actors. Edwin was recently in the amazon movie, The Tomorrow War. I didn't know it was them until much later in life, so it's cool to see them now!
43:37 The role of Zeus was originally intended for Larry Fishburne. But he played hardball with Fox and demanded a million bucks, so eventually the producer saw Pulp Fiction(which Fishburne also turned down) at Cannes, loved Sam Jackson's performance, and offered him the role. As for more Willis/Jackson movies, they did Unbreakable and Glass together. They also both appeared in Loaded Weapon 1 and Pulp Fiction, but they never share any scenes in those.
I don't blame him for sticking to his guns, Bruce was making on average 15 million per movie from 1991 onwards so the revelation that Samuel L. didn't even make one fifteenth of that despite being in the entire movie and winning plaudits for Pulp Fiction the year before shows just how greedy studios are. Laurence missed out but he got his big pay day with the Matrix trilogy.
@@krashd Blaming the studio here is a bit ridiculous. Bruce was a name the studio knew would put asses in seats, hence the paycheck. And returning to an extremely popular series of films no less. Jackson was still up and coming in that regard. Pulp Fiction, while popular, was an ensemble piece. Willis had already not only carried a film before, but had had multiple blockbusters in the lead role and a wildly successful TV career.
@@krashd demanding one million even if the main star makes 1.5 is stupid and greedy. Bruce was the star. a costar should not expect to make anywhere near that. The bigger your name the more money you make because the more money you bring in. That's the business. If they don't like it they need to get another job.
This is my favorite after the first one. Bruce Willis & Samuel L. Jackson make a good team in this. Make sure to watch the fourth installment & ignore the fifth one by any means necessary.
For people who dont get the jug riddle, you fill 3 up then empty it into the 5, so 3 is empty and 5 has 3 in it, then fill 3 up again pour it into 5 but only room for another 2, so 5 is full and 1 left in the 3, you completely empty the 5 so its empty and 1 is in 3, you put the1 from 3 into the 5, so 1 in is in 5 and 3 is now empty, you completely fill 3 up then pour it into the 5 which still has 1 in it which makes the 4
39:54, I'm glad you had much fun as much as I did! You wouldn't stop laughing, you were on the edge of your seat, you enjoyed McLane and Zeus almost dying in every situation possible, you were amazed at Jeremy Irons being a villain with an impressive intelligence that you shouldn't underestimate, yet the dynamic between McLane and Zeus will leave you cheering at the end
I love those moments when TBR yells "OH MY GOD!!" in shock, but his face yells "THATS AWESOME!!!=D" (this time it was the tow cable scene) hahaha! This is my favorite part of the Die Hard trilogy, Willis and Jackson just work so well together. But its funny to me, this is the first time I saw this movie in english and the heavy german accents get lost in translation. Its not just really funny to hear, but also the scene in the bank makes a bit more sense now, that "guard" getting the cats and dogs saying wrong ticking of McClane. If you want to see Bruce Willis in a similar buddy cop movie I would suggest Last Boy Scout, but I would guess that you got that recommendation a lot already
Mr. Willis, we salute you. We wish you and your family the best of luck. We will miss your presence on the big screen.😏 God bless you for entertaining us.
The idea of going from the lone hero of the first two movies to this buddy action movie was a brilliant move, especially because Jackson and Willis worked so well together, so much chemistry from the first minute both are together on screen. And John McTiernan showing again why he is (along with James Cameron in my opinion) the best action movies director ever.
When all chores are finished and the sun has set, along with a nice dinner before me and ease of mind at hand, I do truly enjoy seeing another upload from Mr. Schmitt and Sam. My Saturdays become extremely tranquil when watching your reactions. I wish you two the best as your channel continues to grow!
Die Hard 2 was so so and my expectations going into Vengeance were not very high, but this movie totally blew me away. They went back to the buddy formula and upped the action big-time add it worked so well. Thanks to Bruce Willis for so many great movies over the years.
I also loved Die Hard 2 as much as the first one (as well as Vengeance). It is actually the most 'Christmasy' movie to me of them all, mostly because of the setting and snowy weather. Odd, I guess. But always love to catch it on cable.
The director John Mctiernen also directed the first movie and predator but he also directed another movie you guys loved The Hunt for Red October. Guy is a legend.
"Moonlighting" was not a comedy. It was an hour drama with comedic overtones because of the situation, at least the first two seasons. Great show ahead of its time. The blonde girlfriend from "Taxi Driver" , Cybil Shepard was the co lead with Bruce Willis. You should watch it on your channel. you will be the first on youtube and wont be disappointed.
Moonlighting was as much a comedy as it was a drama. It actually was a mix of comedy, drama, mystery and romance or a dramedy if you like. It was nominated for many awards in the comedy and drama categories during it's time.
Dave and Maddie were actually magnificent. They say the scripts were twice as long as traditional hour long shows. The revolutionized TV in the 80's. David Addison was my hero!
I definitely would call Moonlighting a comedy. Not every single episode, but most had a LOT of silly elements. It just wasn't in the sitcom format. There are shows today that people call comedies that also would've been hard to classify had they come out in the 80s.
The dogs and cats comment along with the “guard” calling an elevator a “lift” indicated to John that something was already off. He was already suspicious going in. Once he saw his buddy’s badge his suspicions were confirmed. Additionally, while there’s multiple callbacks to the original one that is often overlooked is that at the very end. John has only 2 bullets left to take out the main villain and his accomplices. The same number of rounds he had to finish off Hans.
They said it best - its just so much fun from start to finish. The first is a great action movie and all that I re-watch as a Christmas tradition, but this movie I can just watch again and again and again, just because its so damned fun. AND all the characters are great, so many MVP's, and no subplot of ignorant and useless police or ignorant and useless feds.
This is my favorite Die Hard by far, but not only, it's my favorite action movie. Its pace is crazy and the directing, editing are masterfully controlled in that matter. And of course it's an amazing buddy movie with these 2 actors you can clearly see have had a blast doing it. AND of course, Irons is a great villain. Mac Tiernan is really the definitive action movie direcor!
Another great action comedy is The Last Boy Scout with Bruce Willis and Damon Wayans. They have great chemistry and a lot of great one liners from both of them.
The water thing had me perplexed for a long time... once I figured it out though I realised in the movie they cut back to them when they are halfway through solving the puzzle, so its impossible to play along as they solve it just from watching the movie. Here's how you do it if you want to know: 1. Fill 5G jug 2. pour 5G jug into 3G jug, leaving 2 gallons in the 5G jug 3. Empty 3 gallon jug. 0 gallons in 3G jug, still 2 gallons in the 5G jug 4. Pour the 2 gallons from the 5 gallon jug into the 3 gallon jug. 5G now has 0G. 3G now has 2 gallons of water with 1 gallon empty 5. fill 5 gallon jug again 6. Pour from 5 gallon jug into the 2 gallon jug until 2 gallon jug is full, since there is only 1 gallon to fill, this leaves 4 gallons in the 5 gallon jug.
There's a couple different ways to do it actually. I laid out 2 myself, but there's probably more though. I think both ways require at least 5 steps though.
@@Fyrecide Another one is: Fill 3, pour it to 5, leaving room for 2. Fill 3 again, pour 2 from it to 5. Empty 5, pour the remaining 1 there plus a full 3. I don't think there are any other solutions, except longer versions of these (i.e. doing something pointless), because you have only 2 jugs and to get to 4 you either need to subtract 1 out of 5 or add 3 to existing 1. One jug has to always be either empty or full and, while the other jug obviously starts empty, it can't also be full or empty after that, because that gets you nowhere. You can only work with one jug at a time, since one jug holds the variable you've worked up to and you use the other's constant volume for adding or subtracting. That doesn't leave much wiggle room. Come to think of it, I wonder if there's some kind of a duality for all solvable two-jug problems that you can always get the final answer in exactly two ways, once through summation and once through subtraction. No, wait, that can only work for a target figure somewhere between the jug sizes. If it's smaller than both, the last action always has to be a subtraction (and if it's larger than both, the answer has to be in two jugs, at least one of them full). The question remains, though, whether there's always exactly two ways to get to the number. I suspect that might be the case.
Fun trivia: The silent female assassin is played by singer/musician Sam Phillips. She started her career as a Christian musician named Leslie Phillips (her real name) and recorded four albums before leaving the industry to focus on a career outside that realm. She's recorded a ton of music since, often working with super-producer T-Bone Burnett, who she married in 1989. She's also done some film and TV composing.
One of our best songwriters (though I sometimes can’t figure out what some are about. Makes it more fun.). Conceptual to cast a singer snd have her character be mute.
Man I remember seeing this movie in the theater I got a free mini poster it was really cool talking about bringing back memories thanks for watching this🤘😎❤️❤️
My suggestion for your next Bruce Willis movie would be “Death Becomes Her” with Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn. One of his few comedic performances and it really shows his acting chops by putting him in a very different role from what we would normally see him in.
I wish he had done more comedy roles in movies, he was so good on Moonlighting for the few seasons it was on TV. He's very good in Death Becomes Her.....however I hate that movie. I just don't get it and never have with that one. All the actors give it their all but I just never got into it sadly.
@@LordLOC It's worth watching again. I watched it the other day (HD) and it's even more relevant today in the age of social media where everyone (and particularly women) are under pressure to look good.
I just hope Bruce knows how much we love him man...I have literally grown up watching him put great performance after great performance every single time I see a film he's in...fantastic actor...we love you Bruce and thank you so much.
I've always loved the subtle way John says. "yippi ki yay mother fucker" at the end. I overall have loved this movie for years. just that delivery was so personal between John and Simon
That was nice to mention Bruce Willis and his retirement. I was legitimately sad when the news came out. Admittedly, I haven’t bothered with any of his recent output but I’ll always have all those great movies from my youth and I’ll be thankful for that.
The Die Hard Trilogy is almost perfect, the films are just different enough to make them interesting & enjoyable (without being silly); some ppl like to argue about which is the best, but they're all great in their own way (after this not so much).
The trilogy was awesome, I remember someone describing the 4th movie perfectly, it's a bad Die Hard movie but it was a very watchable late 2000's action movie. The 5th movie is just awful and should be forgotten.
Regardless of how you feel about the later movies you shouldn't refer to the franchise as a trilogy unless you make it clear to anyone reading that it is just a trilogy in your opinion. Misinformation is just something that pisses me off.
Two solutions to the water jug puzzle: 1) fill the 3 gallon jug. Pour it into the 5 gallon jug. Fill the 3 gallon jug again. Pour as much as you can from the 3 gallon jug into the 5 gallon jug. The 3 gallon jug now contains 1 gallon. Pour out the 5 gallon jug. Pour the 1 gallon from the 3 gallon jug to the 5 gallon jug. Fill the 3 yelling jug. Pour that into the 5 gallon jug. The 5 gallon jug now contains 4 gallons. 2) fill the 5 gallon jug. Poor as much as you can from the 5 gallon jug into the 3 gallon jug. The 5 gallon jug now contains 2 gallons. Pour out the 3 gallon jug. Pour the 2 gallons from the 5 gallon jug into the 3 gallon joke. Fill the 5 gallon jug. Pour as much as you can from the 5 gallon jug into the 3 gallon jug. The 5 gallon jug now contains 4 gallons.
Great review as always, guys. So sad about Bruce but I'm so glad he has a wide support network to look after him. Thank you so much for all the good times at the movies. As for this film and as a NYer, I get a kick seeing all these locations I've been to over the years and how little they've changed since 1995.
I love how John and Zeus just get absolutely filthy. And McClain's covered in blood and grease and probably some brains. It's insane. They both look like maniacs by the end.
So a little trivia: This was a Script called “Simon Says” before it was rewritten to be a DieHard movie, arguably the best one... That often happens with scripts, they’ll start out as one thing, and by the time it hits the screen for audiences it’s something completely different...
IIRC, the original "Die Hard" was at one point going to be a sequel to "Commando". Seem to have heard that somewhere. Probably a movie reaction/review channel. So, grain of Roman pay.
Favorite line is when Simon watches the police leave the subway crash "They fell for it...hook...line...and Sinker" And when Zeus has to answer the phone in the Subway the way he reacts is copied by Frozone in the Incredibles when he and Mr. Incredible "break" into the jewelry store.
I've watched several reaction channels and I have to say, you 2 are up there. I like hearing your insights and thoughts as you progress through the movie. Love how well you 2 summarize what you can remember and your thoughts about them and how you felt at that moment. Keep up the great content. Hope you 2 continue to blow up :P
The bridge that blows up towards the end of the movie was actually in Charleston, SC. That bridge was scheduled for destruction after they have finished building a new bridge and the old one was scheduled for destruction. It was a win win for everyone! BTW, GREAT review! Enjoy watching you guys having a good time watching a movie!
If you look up the director, John McTiernan, you've watched quite a few of his movies and loved them all. But there's two more you should watch, IMO. 'The 13th Warrior' Based off of a Michael Crichton book that tricked historians into thinking fiction was real. And 'Basic', with John Travolta, was also really good.
"that tricked historians into thinking fiction was real." Do you have a source on this? I think there's an afterword where Crichton describes why he wrote the book and that makes it clear that it's fiction. The 13th Warrior is surprisingly good, considering Crichton forcibly took over directing from McTiernan in post. Usually that kind of stuff is not a good sign.
@@thetechsite9619 I wish I remembered where I learned about it. It was around the early 2000's when I read several in depth articles. If I remember correctly, the manuscript was floated around before the book came out and that's what historians got their hands on. It was being touted as a real, and the academic crowd debated it until the book was released, revealing it to be fiction. There was a backlash, and Crichton had to add that explanation to subsequent printings. It sounded to me that the publishers may have done it as a promotional stunt and it got out of control. Crichton didn't seem to have anything to do with it. So, yeah.. memories from 20 years ago. And who knows how accurate the articles were to begin with. (Even if I want to say one was from the NYTimes.) I won't take it personally if you don't believe it. 😉 But hey, if you find the original articles, I'd be happy to reread them. (and find out how wrong my memory is 😂)
@@Waldorf-2020 Probably not wrong, the story makes more sense now. Thanks for answering. Did a short search for articles, but nothing from back then came up. I actually like Crichton's approach to frame his novels as retellings of actual events. I remember it working well in The Andromeda Strain and Jurassic Park for example.
The Thirteenth Warrior was Crichton polishing the serial numbers off of "Beowulf". Not that there is anything wrong with that. Lots of modern takes on ancient myths and legends. Even Marvel and DC do it.
The water jugs: 1. Fill 5 gal. jug 2. Fill 3 gal. jug from the 5 gal. jug 3. Empty 3 gal. jug 4. Pour remaining 2 gallons from 5 gal. jug into 3 gal. jug 5. Fill 5 gal. jug again 6. Fill 3 gal. jug from 5 gal. jug again 7. This leaves 3 gallons in the 3 gal. jug (full) and 4 gallons remaining in the 5 gal. jug
So I'm a huge fan of the first three movies, and feel like the next two kind of fall off. However, the movie 16 Blocks serves as a perfect conclusion to the Die Hard movies. It was Richard Donners last film. Bruce Willis is an old beaten down cop and has a great co-star in Mos Def. In my mind, that's the spiritual final Die Hard movie.
I totally agree! It had a Die Hard in NYC type ‘enclosed’ situation, a race against time, Bruce had his McClane hair, it felt like it could’ve been more fitting than the bald Bruce DH sequels which didn’t feel right to me
To understand the 4 gallons of water jug puzzle... the 3 gallon jug probably has marks for the 1 gallon, 2 gallon mark..... so emptying water out of the 5 gallon jug into the 3 gallon jug to the 1 gallon mark will leave 4 gallons in 5 gallon jug.
This is my second favorite Die Hard movie after the first one. I like especially how it involves travel around New York, while 1 and 2 take place all in one location more or less. The relationship between McClane and Zeus was also great. There's also a lot of really cool set pieces, and it taking place all over the city helps because they could do car chases. Another good one is the elevator scene. The quality of the series starts to drop after this one in the way you were saying. The fourth movie wasn't bad but the set pieces in it at times were way too ridiculous. I saw part of the fifth one but it never caught much of my interest.
Pour 3 gallons from the 5-jug into the 3 jug! *Exactly 2 gallons* left in the 5-jug! _EMPTY THE 3-JUG!_ Pour the 2 gallons from the 5-jug into the 3-jug. *Exactly 2 gallons* now in the 3-jug. _REFIL THE 5-JUG!_ Fill the rest on the 3-jug with 1 more gallon _(2+1=3)_ from the full 5-jug _(5-1=4)._ *_EXACTLY 4 GALLONS LEFT IN THE 5-JUG!_*
43:58 Unfortunately, Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson were never really in another movie like this together. They were both in Pulp Fiction, but they didn't really share any scenes. They were in Unbreakable and Glass together, but those were very different movies from this. Closest they came is that two years earlier (in 1993) Samuel L. Jackson co-starred with Emilio Estevez in a spoof of the Lethal Weapon movies (and other action movies) called Loaded Weapon 1. Bruce Willis had a brief cameo in there as a joke, playing John McClane.
Aww, you were so close to getting that water one. "And you are left with two..." Then you transfer the two into the three. Fill up the five and pour one gallon into the three leaving you with exactly four. I watched this for the first time in college with a room full of guys and was the first to get the solution. But like Zeus, I'm good at these sort of things. At that point, this became one of my favorite movies.
"Long Kiss Goodnight" is another great Sam Jackson action flick. Imagine Bourne Identity, but with better action scenes and you have "Long Kiss Goodnight".
If you want another fun wild Bruce Willis film then try “The Fifth Element “ or a more serious movie then “The Sixth Sense” or “Unbreakable” which also has Samual L. Jackson in it.
fun facts: there’s a scene in the Incredibles that directly parodies the scene in this movie where Zeus needs to answer the phone and the cop won’t let him. The parody is Frozone needing a drink of water and the cop not letting him. Also “Lurch” originally had a longer fight and more elaborate death but the MPAA made them cut it out, that’s why it ends abruptly.
Fill the 5 gallon jug, empty as much of it as you can into the 3 gallon jug. It leaves you 2 gallons in the 5 gallon jug. Empty the 3 gallon jug and pour the 2 gallons into the 3 gallon jug, which leaves room for 1 gallon. Fill the 5 gallon jug completely and pour as much of it into the 3 gallon jug (with 1 gallon of space) and it'll leave you with 4 gallons in the 5 gallon jug.
My fav. Die Hard movie in the franchise. We watched this back on VHS and would quote every single line by heart. Take care Bruce and thank you for the memories!
Spectacular movie! Especially incredible if you're intimately familiar with NYC geography. All their movements through Manhattan fit perfectly together. The action is second to none, and the chemistry between Willis and Jackson is pure magic.
It's definitely a summer movie, but if you notice they make a few Christmas jokes (in the tunnel when John kills the rear guard, he talks about Santa and his sleigh - then when disarming the bomb, Charlie is singing a Christmas song). I think that was a wink and a nod to the Christmas trend of the first two flick which is a nice touch.
4 gallons of water from having a 3 and a 5 jug (III and V): 1) Fill jug V with 5 gallons of water. 2) Pour 3 gallons from jug V to fill jug III. You now have 2 gallons left in V. 3) Empty III and pour the remaining 2 gallons in V into the now empty III. 4) With 2 gallons in III, again fill V with 5 gallons. 5) Pour to fill III with the 2 gallons, this takes 1 gallon from the filled V, and you have 4 gallons left in jug V. Sorry, I'm just so proud that I managed to figure this out.
The last good Die Hard movie. All my best wishes that Bruce can overcome this diagnosis. Moonlighting still one of the great tv series in my opinion. TBR, the best reaction vids. Thanks guys.
Couple of ways you solve the water problem. Easiest is fill up 5...poor into 3...empty 3..poor the rest of 5 into 3 (2 gallon). Fill 5 again...poor 1 to fill up 3.. 5 has 4 left.
As a new Yorker who was a kid In 95....we especially love it here....so much of it rings true and it's original director back...and the second best if u truly r a fan
1. Fill the 5 gallon jug and fill the 3 gallon jug from it, leaving 2 gallons. 2. Empty the 3 gallon jug and pour the 2 gallons from the 5 gallon jug into it. 3. Fill the 5 gallon jug and pour from it into the 3 gallon jug until full. Since this will empty just 1 gallon, you're left with 4 gallons in the 5 gallon jug.
Fill 5 gal tank, fill 3 gal Tank from 5 gal tank, empty 3 gal tank pour 2 gallons left in 5 gal tank into 3 gal tank Now fill 5 gal tank At last fill up 3 gal tank (with 2 gallons in it) from full 5 gallon tank, You now have a 5 gallon tank with 4 gallons of water.
Fill the 5 then use that to fill the 3. Empty the 3. Put the 2 gal left into the 3. Fill the 5. Use 1 gal from the 5 to fill the 3, leaving 4 gal in the 5 gal jug.
Vengeance is known to be the best die hard movie 👍 Samuel and Bruce were so awesome together you can tell they had alot of fun plus the development between both the characters is interesting
Definitely one of the best cast movies of all time and not just Jackson, Willis, and Irons. All the detectives (Walter, Joe, Ricky, Charlie, and Connie) are absolutely phenomenal. I could watch a TV show based on that entire department.
When you watch the next Die Hard, you NEED to watch the Unrated version! Also you guys need to do the Lethal Weapon series as well! My favorite buddy cop series
Personally, this movie is my favourite of the series. I love the dynamic between Willis & Jackson, it adds so much more to the movie when McClane has someone equally charismatic to bounce off of.
Just wanna say you guys are awesome for recognizing Bruce Willis and what he has done in films and wishing him well...Also Blind Date is one his very first roles in a movie and it's a great and funny one..pls check it out would love to see your reaction
Fill the 5 gallon jug. Empty as much as possible into the 3 gallon jug, leaving 2 gallons in the 5 gallon jug. Empty the 3 gallon jug into the fountain. Pour the 2 gallons from the 5 gallon jug into the 3 gallon jug, so that now the 3 gallon jug is exactly 2/3 filled. Fill the 5 gallon jug again, and empty as much as possible into the one gallon of empty space in the 3 gallon jug leaving the 5 gallon jug holding 4 gallons.
We wish all the best to Bruce Willis and his family. An incredible acting career that will continue to be enjoyed and celebrated as he retires to focus on health and his loved ones
You need to do The Last Boy Scout. It is an unofficial die hard
I'm strugglin eeere
Bruce Willis was such a badass! IMO his last great film was 6 Blocks, very underrated.
You should watch the alternate ending of this movie. I think it was way better than the original.
[Disarmed]
Your solution is the more common one I've heard, specifically because it should be able to do it faster than my solution, and it's clearly the solution they chose in the movie.
-Now you have 2 gal in the 3 gal jug
-They fill up the 5 gal jug full and out of that pour into the 3 gal jug which already has 2 gal in it filling it
-Which leaves exactly 4 gal left in the 5 gal jug.
Most of the this ended on the cutting room floor - but they show the last step in the process the film.
This is easily the 2nd best Die Hard movie, only falling short of Die Hard itself.
Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson were the duo we didn't know we needed, and Jeremy Irons is great as a villain.
always loved it.
My fav Die Hard movie for sure. I always love the first 3. 4th isn't too bad, just hate Justin Long. 5th, well, I love the guns.
Nah man, Die Hard 1 is boring compared to this and has aged very poorly.
The same director did both (and predator)
Truth. Their partnership holds this movie. They're great.
The heist part was apparently so accurate the FBI questioned the Director on how he knew so much about the inner workings of the Federal Reserve lol
This is definitely my favorite Die Hard movie. Part 1 was great but this one just has so many more moving parts and the director really did an awesome job of making everything fit together a fun cohesive manner. The director also directed Predator so it's no wonder that this movie is a great action flick.
Same. The first is a classic but loaded with tropes. DHWaV just never stops.
He also directed the first
This may actually be my favorite of the first 3. Not by a wide margin, mind you, as the first one will always be strong contender. But in terms of over all enjoyment, Vengeance just hits it right for me.
I find the 3rd the most rewatchable.
This is absolutely my favorite of the series.
I love the first 4 Die hards but this one is my fav also I love the chemistry between Jackdon and willis
We finally get to see John McClain in his element, on his territory. Simple story, great characters, great writing with the callbacks. It's the best out of the series.
@@Ootlander Totally, I watch it every year or so.
One of the rare case where the third one is the best of the franchise. I always preferred it a LOT, because the McClane-Zeus duo is SO good. Alchemy, incredible lines, good villain, action packed, thrilling from beginning to end
Respect to Bruce. What an amazing career he has given to fans. Best wishes to the entire family.
👍
Right on. He gave us so much through his movies. We all have his family in our prayers.
i wish they would react to the jackal, it's a great and underrated bruce willis movie.
Bruce was a full fledged action hero at the height of his career. he will be missed
This movie is so good!! Action all the way through, and Jackson and Willis’ chemistry is so good! And Irons kills it as the villain!!!
Whoever decided to put Sam Jackson in the die hard world is a freaking genius..he just fits perfect
Brits make the best villains😈
I absolutely love Samuel L Jackson's sidekick roles. This one and A Long Kiss Goodnight (1996) is awesome.
His best sidekick buddy cop movie is “Loaded Weapon 1.”
@@McPh1741 Such a funny movie.
The Long Kiss Goodnight, another great Christmas movie, and highly underrated.
Nice one! I love Gena Davis in that too.
In an interview (2019) where they talked about Jackson's favorite characters that he played, Mitch Hennessy tops the list ruclips.net/video/VKXTX6OoRDo/видео.html
I love how Sam goes straight into riddle-solving mode every time.
😂
You mean she has done it before? 😂
@@tylerfoster6267 Absolutely. I don't mind the 4th as much as others seem to for exactly those reasons. Good stuff.
@@tgreg99 unrated version is so much better.
I've been waiting for the circuit to get to this and LW4!
The best one _after_ the first one.
@@szeddezs I know I'm in the minority, and totally get why, but I like Vengeance the best of them all. Die Hard leans into tropes and cliche too hard for me... They are both still 5 baggers though, don't get me wrong.
@First Last I really enjoy 4, mainly for the villains, but Willis & Long do have good chemistry.
Remember that Unbreakable is the first of a trilogy. Unbreakable, Split and Glass.
They also was in pulp fiction together. Just no scenes together
The idea was to let them figure it out for themselves, guys.
Now that is a quality memory to have. 8)
The nostalgia is strong in this one
Disappointed you cut out the basically "I'll take his arms, you grab his legs" joke, that was great 😄
Also, Die Hard Trilogy (1996) was a big hit for the original Playstation where people got to play parts from all 3 films!
Edit: You should definitely watch the Lethal Weapon series for some buddy-cop action.
You surprise me again Mclain.....I don't like to lose..... yippee ki yay!
@@morleymobproductionz Get the hell outta heah!
GREAT.
That was Aldis Hodge? Wow
The older boy is his brother Edwin I believe who is also an actor.
Another under appreciated Bruce Willis buddy cop movie, full of action is “The Last Boyscout.”

My favorite Die Hard sequel. So glad to see you two watch this!
Hands down.
The director John Mctiernen also directed the first movie and predator but he also directed another movie you guys loved The Hunt for Red October. Guy is a legend.
13th Warrior too...yeah, Mctiernan is a legend
"Moonlighting" was not a comedy. It was an hour drama with comedic overtones because of the situation, at least the first two seasons. Great show ahead of its time. The blonde girlfriend from "Taxi Driver" , Cybil Shepard was the co lead with Bruce Willis. You should watch it on your channel. you will be the first on youtube and wont be disappointed.
Moonlighting was as much a comedy as it was a drama. It actually was a mix of comedy, drama, mystery and romance or a dramedy if you like. It was nominated for many awards in the comedy and drama categories during it's time.
,, best episode was, The Taming of the Shrew 😏✨
Dave and Maddie were actually magnificent. They say the scripts were twice as long as traditional hour long shows. The revolutionized TV in the 80's. David Addison was my hero!
I definitely would call Moonlighting a comedy. Not every single episode, but most had a LOT of silly elements. It just wasn't in the sitcom format. There are shows today that people call comedies that also would've been hard to classify had they come out in the 80s.
@@harrymarshall “Atomic Shakespeare”. My favorite episode. 10 years before “10 Things I Hate About You” did a modern take on it.
It may be a little controversial to say but I like this one even more than the first. The chemistry between Willis and Jackson is just too good.
Nah. A lot of people would agree, SLJ is a great supporting actor for this, it made it better.
I couldn't believe how much racial stuff Jackson got away with in this movie. That being said I love this movie.
👍👍👍
My favorite die hard!! Not a lot of reactions to this one out there. Love the reaction love the channel! 🖤
Agree
Another great action comedy is The Last Boy Scout with Bruce Willis and Damon Wayans. They have great chemistry and a lot of great one liners from both of them.
The water thing had me perplexed for a long time... once I figured it out though I realised in the movie they cut back to them when they are halfway through solving the puzzle, so its impossible to play along as they solve it just from watching the movie.
Here's how you do it if you want to know:
1. Fill 5G jug
2. pour 5G jug into 3G jug, leaving 2 gallons in the 5G jug
3. Empty 3 gallon jug. 0 gallons in 3G jug, still 2 gallons in the 5G jug
4. Pour the 2 gallons from the 5 gallon jug into the 3 gallon jug. 5G now has 0G. 3G now has 2 gallons of water with 1 gallon empty
5. fill 5 gallon jug again
@@blechtic That’s one of the two I posted earlier in a separate comment lol.

My suggestion for your next Bruce Willis movie would be “Death Becomes Her” with Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn. One of his few comedic performances and it really shows his acting chops by putting him in a very different role from what we would normally see him in.
Blind Date wtih Kim Basinger, early Bruce and comedy gold.
A Robert Zemeckis great movie.
I wish he had done more comedy roles in movies, he was so good on Moonlighting for the few seasons it was on TV. He's very good in Death Becomes Her.....however I hate that movie. I just don't get it and never have with that one. All the actors give it their all but I just never got into it sadly.

That was nice to mention Bruce Willis and his retirement. I was legitimately sad when the news came out. Admittedly, I haven’t bothered with any of his recent output but I’ll always have all those great movies from my youth and I’ll be thankful for that.
The Die Hard Trilogy is almost perfect, the films are just different enough to make them interesting & enjoyable (without being silly); some ppl like to argue about which is the best, but they're all great in their own way (after this not so much).
the fourth is the best I love this one then 1 don't like 2 at all and 5 is where Bruce started phoning in his roles and is god awful
I loved four. Five did nothing for me but four was great in my opinion.
@@calliestephen I also think the fourth is actually pretty good. Fifth one should be deleted from history.
Two solutions to the water jug puzzle:
1) fill the 3 gallon jug.
7:30, Love his sarcasm and remarks whenever he mocks the villain.
I love that they used "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" as part of the musical theme.
This one might actually be my favorite. SLJ really made this one. I hope everyone has a wonderful night. First one I got to see in the theatre.
same here it's my favorite diehard.
@@Proteus3000 Good to know I'm not alone in that.
One of the best opening sequences ever with a perfect song combo.
Great review as always, guys. So sad about Bruce but I'm so glad he has a wide support network to look after him. Thank you so much for all the good times at the movies. As for this film and as a NYer, I get a kick seeing all these locations I've been to over the years and how little they've changed since 1995.
Great reaction! Hats off to Bruce Willis for the amazing body of work he leaves behind as he steps into a well-earned retirement.
I love how John and Zeus just get absolutely filthy. And McClain's covered in blood and grease and probably some brains. It's insane. They both look like maniacs by the end.
What brains? They're Nazi's.
So a little trivia: This was a Script called “Simon Says” before it was rewritten to be a DieHard movie, arguably the best one...
That often happens with scripts, they’ll start out as one thing, and by the time it hits the screen for audiences it’s something completely different...
That’s what happened with the original, it was meant to be a Frank Sinatra film way back when!
IIRC, the original "Die Hard" was at one point going to be a sequel to "Commando". Seem to have heard that somewhere. Probably a movie reaction/review channel. So, grain of Roman pay.
@@Mr_Incognito113I think that rings a bell, too. The main character in the book was more of a retired or almost retired older cop or something.
Favorite line is when Simon watches the police leave the subway crash "They fell for it...hook...line...and Sinker"
And when Zeus has to answer the phone in the Subway the way he reacts is copied by Frozone in the Incredibles when he and Mr. Incredible "break" into the jewelry store.
Fantastic practical explosions and stunt driving in this one, I can't imagine we'll ever see an action movie that feels this real again.
But hey, if you find the original articles, I'd be happy to reread them.
Both are very good recommendations.
The water jugs:
1. Fill 5 gal. jug
2. Fill 3 gal. jug from the 5 gal. jug
3. Empty 3 gal. jug
4. Pour remaining 2 gallons from 5 gal. jug into 3 gal. jug
5. Fill 5 gal. jug again
6. Fill 3 gal. jug from 5 gal. jug again
It had a Die Hard in NYC type ‘enclosed’ situation, a race against time, Bruce had his McClane hair, it felt like it could’ve been more fitting than the bald Bruce DH sequels which didn’t feel right to me
Ooooh, thanks for the tip. Added to my list.

The only Die Hard film I ever saw at the cinema and my personal favourite for it! This film has aged incredibly well!
This movie was rated NC-17 in the USA. This is a UK version and they rated it 18.
How edgy was it ?
_EMPTY THE 3-JUG!_
Pour the 2 gallons from the 5-jug into the 3-jug. *Exactly 2 gallons* now in the 3-jug.
_REFIL THE 5-JUG!_
Fill the rest on the 3-jug with 1 more gallon _(2+1=3)_ from the full 5-jug _(5-1=4)._
*_EXACTLY 4 GALLONS LEFT IN THE 5-JUG!_*
The excitement, the thrills, the anxiety, the highs, the lows --- all without CGI.....good ol' days in Holy Wood.
the gun duct taped to John's back in the beginning is a nice little easter egg/call back to the end of Die Hard.
Such an underrated film I really hope they watch it.
They definitely should. I haven't seen any reactors watch Long Kiss Goodnight.
Pls don’t try and compare it to Bourne which is a great franchise but not to Long Kiss level
Die Hard 2 director
"Are you AIMING for these people!?" - love that line from Sam Jack!
Each of the original trilogy has a unique feel and I like them all equally
Fill the 5 gallon jug, empty as much of it as you can into the 3 gallon jug. It leaves you 2 gallons in the 5 gallon jug. Empty the 3 gallon jug and pour the 2 gallons into the 3 gallon jug, which leaves room for 1 gallon. Fill the 5 gallon jug completely and pour as much of it into the 3 gallon jug (with 1 gallon of space) and it'll leave you with 4 gallons in the 5 gallon jug.
I can never decide whether I love this or the first one more, two just brilliant films.
My fav. Die Hard movie in the franchise. We watched this back on VHS and would quote every single line by heart.
Take care Bruce and thank you for the memories!
I'm praying for Bruce Willis & his family, wishing you all the best
Spectacular movie! Especially incredible if you're intimately familiar with NYC geography. All their movements through Manhattan fit perfectly together. The action is second to none, and the chemistry between Willis and Jackson is pure magic.
My favorite Die Hard movie in the franchise. I would say its a Summer movie.
This is absolutely a summer movie. Die Hard 1 & 2 are both wintery/Christmassy films, but this one is a great ‘summer in NYC’ film.

4 gallons of water from having a 3 and a 5 jug (III and V):
1) Fill jug V with 5 gallons of water.
This was my favorite of the Die Hard series. It's so creative, ridiculous, and just non-stop fun.
As a new Yorker who was a kid In 95....we especially love it here....so much of it rings true and it's original director back...and the second best if u truly r a fan
Jeremy Irons is fantastic as usual. Don’t get the “4 gallons thing either.”
Fill 5 gal tank,
fill 3 gal Tank from 5 gal tank,
empty 3 gal tank
pour 2 gallons left in 5 gal tank into 3 gal tank
Now fill 5 gal tank
At last fill up 3 gal tank (with 2 gallons in it) from full 5 gallon tank,
You now have a 5 gallon tank with 4 gallons of water.
Fill the 5 then use that to fill the 3. Empty the 3. Put the 2 gal left into the 3. Fill the 5. Use 1 gal from the 5 to fill the 3, leaving 4 gal in the 5 gal jug.
Looper is another great movie (IMO) that Bruce is in. Such an underrated movie
Vengeance is known to be the best die hard movie 👍 Samuel and Bruce were so awesome together you can tell they had alot of fun plus the development between both the characters is interesting
Samuel Jackson and Bruce Willis have been in 5 movies together.
Definitely 👍
