The owner is probably sick of eating his own food because he's probably been eating the same thing most of his life and he's only eating it because of the camera
This that strong statement
The older man teaching Adam how to eat the roast beef. Reminded me of my dad who passed away 30 years ago. I really miss my dad!!!

Anyone else only watch Man Vs Food when it’s one of Adam’s episodes? Casey sucks.
I don't know why, but I always enjoyed the moments when Adam got to eat food and enjoy it rather than have to gorge himself on food.
yeah that huge hamburger was gross
I definitely know why, as much as I can enjoy some food challenges it’s much better to taste and appreciate good food and derive joy from that rather than pain from hurting yourself when beating a challenge
Yeah it's way better when he is actually passionate about the food and the history of the place, rather than do those huge food challenges.
😄👏
Same here. I often didn't even watch the main 'challenge' - some of those looked disgusting. I liked to see Adam enjoying and savouring good food whilst having a nice bit chat with the owners.
When I watched this tv program as a kid, never realized that adam was high AF in every episode
No he wasn’t
He wasn't high AF. He was TWISTED.
@@laflecha9257 I must be getting old. Growing up, twisted meant his thinking was wrong on a subject, like, “He’s got things twisted.” What’s it mean today?

I was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago. For the past ten years I’ve lived in Washington D.C. Take it from me, the first thing you miss is the Chicago food. The first thing you do when you get back home for the summer is pig out on the food. Italian beef sandwiches, Polish Sausage, deep dish pizza and South Side ribs and hot links. I’m gonna cry 😢
Goddamn right lol. I eat a beef like once a week lol.
I visited for a week earlier this year.
I'm missing the burgers.
Damn it, I'm missing the whole city.
Would have been going again next February but still no sign of an air bridge across the pond by then.
@Dre-Day 1127 Don’t forget Home Run Inn Pizza on the South Side. Portillo’s is great for Polish and Italian Sausage.👍
@Dre-Day 1127 if you ever find yourself in wheeling or Elk Grove village be sure to try out rammy's sub contractors take on Italian beef. Just so you know it is pricey but well worth it, I can't eat portillos Italian beef anymore it just taste like sh*t now.
As a Southsider born and bred, i feel your pain...😥
This man showed the world why our country is great as a melting pot by the foods and origins and traditions of each restaurant no politics, no statements or agenda just food and everyone of every race seen having a good time enjoying it together
There are those who criticize America for not being authentic with food .We sure as f*** are . Immigrants put a new twist on the foods brought over and made them uniquely American and in some cases better than what their homeland had to offer
There's nothing in Italy that matches up to the Italian beef sandwich
Adam really was the perfect cast for Man v Food.. I feel like this man would be fun at parties..
I love that the owner is going to town on his own food.

I'm from Scotland and I visited friends in Chicago some years ago. They introduced me to the "extra juicy" Italian beef sandwich and I believe I became chemically addicted to it. If I had the money and backing I would open a restaurant here in Scotland. A guaranteed fortune maker once covid lockdown has fully eased.
Did you ever do it
I live in Wales, I'd travel to Scotland to try this alone...looks Divine
I've only had an Italian beef sandwich from Portillos. I never really ventured into Chicago. I'd say, though, that it was one of my favorite sandwiches ever.

I went to Chicago last year around Christmas time… went to both spots… both brought joy to my heart!!! 😂 the Italian beef was on another level… did expect it, had one everyday… the deep dish is so rich and heavy I couldn’t do it everyday like I wanted too… which is saying a lot!!! Lol, everywhere I went in was outstanding, not a bad meal there
As a Jersey resident who's had good pizza his whole life, Deep Dish pizza is goddamn amazing. 🔥 in a league of its own
From the uk and Americans are the best when it comes to junk food and grilled beef, they are freaking creative when it comes to food
Living in Chicago, born and raised, we were really spoiled, tons of steak growing up. Lots of Italian beef, polish sausage, gyros, ribs, thin crust pizza. Deep dish is for tourists, the only deep dish I will eat is Lou Malnatis. Cheers mate from across the pond.
Also from the UK, and I genuinely get envious when I see how well Americans smoke their meats and Jesus Christ it makes my mouth water
What about getting covid-19, 20, 21 and so on?
It’s also why they are the leading first world country plagued by obesity. Not all that glitters is gold....

I went on a road trip with my mom and grandmother to Chicago on our way to Philadelphia just to try this sandwich. I paid for my mom and grandmothers meal. We all got our own but didn’t get the jumbo but i got the big beef dipped and it was one of the best sandwiches I ever tried. I can see why this sandwich rivals the Philly cheesesteak. You can buy that same pizza in the store now for about 8 bucks at Meijer or walmart and it actually tastes good like the restaurant and you don't have to add stuff it weighs about 2lbs and mmm mmm good
May sound odd but you can tell how great this place is when you look at how differently people are dressed. You have all sorts of individuals in line/at tables. Will try it one day!
You know it's good when the owner eats it just as fast and enjoying it just as much even when they work around and smell the same thing everyday. Shoot when I cook I can barely eat after because I've already been smelling it the whole time cooking. I make Italian beef but the steps and techniques are a little different because the appliances I gotta work with but man do I wanna try it Al's way. I can just taste it through the screen!

Growing up in Chicagoland and living in WA for 30 years now, these sandwiches still make me want to drive three days to get one. I still crave them after all these years
In a pinch, to get your fix, you can do the old slow cooker method. Throw a nice roast in the slow cooker, drop in a jar of pepperoncini some oregano, garlic, etc. Cook till it falls apart. Is it the same? Of course not, but it's still delicious.
Speaking of WA, is there anywhere at all to get an Italian Beef in Seattle?
