Hi Science is Dope, Thanks for making your reaction to our video. Really appreciate all your criticisms on our work. Here are a few comments from our end, which we think would be helpful for the viewers who may not have watched the original video - 1. You called our conclusion in the video in support of the homeopathy, but that is not how we see it. Here is our actual conclusion from the video for your reference - ‘Homeopathy has its own benefits along with very serious criticism. Homeopaths need to work on the criticism just the way allopathy worked on it and went from blood letting to its modern form. The term allopathy itself was originated as contempt and stuck on, but they did not care and focused on improving the practice. That is what homeopaths also must do. We also quoted Dr Shantanu where he had mentioned that alternative medicines need scrutiny and criticism so that we can adopt their best practices for betterment of humanity. In your video, where you showed your conversation with Dr. Shantanu, he also agrees that homeopathy needs to be scrutinised. So, both of the statements seem in sync. Our last line of the video is verbatim here for your reference - The need of the hour is scrutiny and questioning, not the blind belief. However, its sad to see that without ever showing our conclusion in full, you chose to call it dangerous and ‘in support of homeopathy’ 2. You have drawn conclusions from the structure of the video and claimed that the information regarding existence of AYUSH ministry, size of homeopathy market are there to show that its very good. This is not the case. Here is how we have structured the video - a) Giving introduction about the homeopathy in its current adoption to showcase that while many of us moved on from this and probably never come across this, its still very popular. The intent of this section was to showcase that its not some obscure topic that we are talking about b) Right after this, we give a historical account of allopathy and how its shortcomings gave birth to homeopathy. We mentioned that things like germ theory and bloodpressure machines were not available back then. You have interpreted this as a criticism against allopathy since we did not include the same for homeopathy. Here our intention was to showcase the times we are talking about and reason behind allopathy being so painful back then. If anything, our point was to showcase that it was a very different times that gave birth to resentment against allopathy back then and now we have come a long way in modern medicines. We give a call back to this exact point to underscore our point to the very end of the video. So, we believe your interpretation of our statement here is selective and flawed. In this section, we also gave a very detailed account of how homeopathy started, its basic concepts. We even called these concepts very ‘shocking’ and ‘controversial’ in our video. c) Then we showcase that large adoption of homeopathy (established under point a) primarily comes from the reasons of royals and riches backing it, being popular among people with low scientific temperament and disillusionment with modern medicines among people who believe in ‘big pharma conspiracy’. We are still wondering how all of these points can be interpreted as being supportive of homeopathy. d) The very next section of our video goes in details of most of the popular criticism against the very basic principles of homeopathy. This entire section is spent steelmaning the strongest arguments against homeopathy. We have made to sure talk about all the criticism in a manner that everyone understands it correctly. You also seem to agree to these criticisms. You claim that we just move on from criticism to the next section. However, you selectively did not show in your video that towards the end of our video, we give call back to these criticism and pose a question to homeopaths, who now have to research and pose a counter to these criticisms. We also appreciate modern medicines in terms of the way they take criticism and improved upon their shortcomings. We are still wondering why you chose to not include all of this context in your video and chose to give conclusion that this was all done to support homeopathy e) After talking about criticism of homeopathy, we talk about why homeopathy works. Under this section we have presented the case of critiques of homeopathy by talking about how homeopathy medicines may not be the exact reason of their effects, in reality, the actual benefits may be due to ‘lifestyle changes’ and ‘placebo’ effects. This entire section also has a pov of critiques and does not sing praises for homeopathy medicines, as you seem to interpret and present in your reaction. This is also strange for us that you chose to ignore the fact that this section is also a critique’s pov. f) Between points a to e., we have covered nearly 85% of the video duration. At the end, in our conclusion we talk about our conclusion of the entire video. Here we talk about homeopathy working in some specific cases - upper respiratory tract infection, artherities etc. We also mentioned that in some of these cases a mixture of homeopathy and modern medicine is given. We also mentioned that thorough consultations and homeopathy having low side effects in kids are some of the good things about homeopathy, however, in the same breath we mention that homeopathy does have very serious criticisms for which homeopaths need to do a lot more research. Please refer to point 1 for verbatim conclusion of our video, which you have decided to not include in your video for some reason. I hope that this gives you our perspective on how we see our video and your response on the same. Just like homeopathy, our video also needs a lot more criticisms and we fully welcome them. We really liked some of your criticism/suggestions - Adding sources to description is a good idea, however, so many links in description section makes it very cluttered. We will try to find a better way to do that. Towards the end of our video, when we mention two studies for about 10 seconds, about homeopathy working, we should have added the context that these studies are done by homeopaths. Thanks a lot for reading our such a lengthy response. If possible, please pin this under your video for the reference of your audience. For anyone who is interested in watching the original video to verify these points, here is a link for your reference - ruclips.net/video/0pcylasFLp4/видео.html
Well good that you are open for rational debate. May be the last point you mentioned about not explicitly mentioning the background about the studies can lead to the confusion that you supported homeopathy in the end and yeah also not providing the links. These things are not too small to ignore specially in these times when many channels/people are paid by govt to spread their agenda. Hope you have mentioned these facts in description along with sources of the studies now. Have a good rest of your day!✌️
@@Unknown-hi2dr We have showed all the sources visually on screen, with the screenshots of all the relevant portions being referred in the video :) We refer to sooo many sources throughout the video that its like adding a barrage of links in description/comments which become difficult for audience to sort through. We are thinking maybe a google doc or google sheet can be added with all the sections of video along with links neatly categorised. What do you think about this idea? We will finalize any of these methods for future videos. Although from anecdotal feedback, people only prefer to watch the relevant parts of the sources on screen as screenshot (that we do) and hardly anyone goes to description and clicks on the links. Anyone curious enough goes to google and read further on the topic.
Science is dope has completely rejected homeopathy based on it's effectiveness...ur good points of homeopathy are not factual at all...only criticisms are valid so indeed homeopathy is a scam/pseudoscience.....u say it is works for children and then u say it has criticism....so in ur opinion should children take homeopathy?...because it has good points
As a doctor and an opposer of alternative medicine, people and even relatives send me videos supporting alternative medicine and bizzare claims. Previously i used to talk them out of it, now i just send them your videos.
My father said his prostate enlargement cured by homeopathic medicines... but when he took me to same doctor for my allergies, they got worse and i still cant get out the mild brain fog. These things are a total hit or miss. I know some people who benefitted, but others who got worse. Who knows whats up with our bodies?
@@archiem654 some relatively smart homeopaths understand that going by the generic principles of homeopathy do nothing and add steroids and all kinds of potentially bad stuff without diluting. And because there's virtually no regulation, they can put in as much as they like to, which could do a lot of serious harm.
I have a (nit-picky) criticism of your video, Pranav. Instead of calling it "Modern medicine", I would call it "Evidence-based medicine". To a culture that equates ancient as better, "Modern medicine" would just be counter-intuitive, whereas the monicker "Evidence-based" is self-explanatory in a holistic way.
Many times modern medicines also been given without proper evidence. There so many examples available. There is no study which tell bypass surgery works better than heart medicines but still doctors do surgery.
The Channel 'An Open Letter' is the epitome of enlightened centrism. Not everything needs centrism and neutrality. Some shit deserves to be opposed with full force. In those cases, If you're not vehemently opposing it, you fall on the side of it by default, which is, indeed, like you said......Dangerous.
They have wrong kind of centerist approach. Politics, economics isn't always black and white and depends on too many factors, so centerist approach is the best. But homeopathy is bogus no matter what.
@MORPHINE Good on you that you accepted your mistake. I will repeat my question. Can you give me a few examples on the misleading things he said? I would appreciate if you could answer my question to the point because I'm not here to get into arguments I'm here just to learn new stuff.
@MORPHINE I asked because I saw An Open Letter video and this video as well. To be frank the conclusions that Pranav drew in his video are contrived and biased. Atleast that is what I felt. An Open Letter's video had proper structure and facts and didn't show anything which might lead to one saying that he is a 'homeopathy apologist' like Pranav has repeatedly claimed here. I asked you the question not because what I asked is redundant and already answered in this video but because I asked your opinion. I have already said I'm here only to learn. However it's seems you yourself don't value your opinion. Good day to you bye.
@MORPHINE Also to be clear, I am vehemently against Homeopathy or any of its derivations. The arguments that people using Homeo put forward in favour are mostly nonsense. I have been in full blown arguments with my own family members against Homeopathy. Now if a person like me hasn't found anything wrong in Open Letter's video and his conclusions and Pranav here comes up with new arguments against that video as well I will obviously be intrigued. And after seeing them, I found them to be quite unfounded and bit taking Open Letter's video out of context. My point is not even to oppose or support a channel, I see both regularly. My point is to question why or how one reached a different conclusion from me. Isn't that the whole point of rational discussions and debates?
When something is factually and objectively wrong and someone says 'hey let's agree on the middle ground', they're also on the side of wrong by default.
When that guy from the channel An Open Letter basically ignores the criticisms of homeopathy, it was like how someone would ignore smoking causes cancer and suggests smoking is an alternative to exercise or something.

I feel like I'm in an echo chamber because I hear about these pseudoacientific videos only when you diss them. I tried convincing a few friends that homeopathy is quack science, but it's very difficult to change their minds. I think trashing all quackeries during our formative years is very important because changing an adults mind about their childhood beliefs is very hard!
You are right. The problem in India is that the extensive push to pseudoscience by government is making adults teach pseudoscience to their kids too. I feel sad for our future.
But you are trapped in Scientific superstition because you can’t see thousands of people getting benefit from Homeopathy. There must be something but your limited Science or cult don’t allow you to understand how it works which itself is against the whole concept of science. Sorry but homeopathy has worked for me many times and Ayurvedic medicine has cured me filaria after many years of taking so called evidence based allopathy failed. Beautifully explained Why Homoeopathic Medicine don't work and its just a Placebo effect. I have some questions Regarding this .Let me list out some. 1 If Homoepathy is Clearly treating a patient on Placebo effect and is Curing then Why don't every Doctor ( MBBS, BDS,BAMS) try the same as it is evident that it can treat the patient only from placebo effect also . 2 Refering to my question no 1 . Have anyone conducted an experiment or test where one patient is tried by giving only placebo ( Not homeopathy Medicine) and see upto how extent the patient Heals and on the other hand If the patient does not get better from the placebo given then try the result again after taking Homeopathic Medicines ?. 3 Can Medicine be Made only using the formula and Principles Modern medicine follows as you said in the video about Germ Theory etc or If the things works (Test Medicine) and treats a patient Completely but doesn't follow the principles and regulations like that of modern Medicine Will that be Called a medicine or that too a placebo ?
I watched an open letter's Video and it had a lot in common with Kurzgesagt's homeopathy video, and I don't think he supported Homeopathy in the end, he instead points out what modern medicine that can learn from Homeopathy and he did criticize the core principles of homeopathy which means he did criticise homeopathy.

I just watched Open Letter's video and it is a very fair criticism of Homeopathy in all respects. I wonder how you ended up with the conclusion that he is a subtle 'homeopathy apologist'. Like literally 90% of his video is spent establishing that Homeopathy is BS and is baseless. A few points that he mentions about Homeopathy in positive light (not approving of Homeopathy as a whole) are extensive consultation by doctor before prescribing any medicine and lack of side effects. While we obviously know why homeopathy medicine lack side effects, the extensive holistic consultation is something that modern medicine can certainly do better in. If a person is repeatedly suffering frequent fractures, I'm quite sure the doctor treating him would just treat the factures and not worry about why the person is suffering from frequent fractures quite simply because as you pointed out there aren't that many medical professionals going around to treat all of us that way. While getting holistic treatment is not something patented or introduced by homeopathy, his video simply pointed out how modern medicine can learn from that method of treatment. How is this being a 'homeopathy apologist'??
Yes but Open letter’s conclusion is similar to saying smoking and exercise both make you happy, hence smoking is an alternative to exercise after listing out side effects of each

So my personal opinion about it is , it is effective if ur homeopathy doctor is good ,my brother uses homeopathic medicine for animals and they r a very effective. I think you are bit harsh on open letter..you have bit misunderstood his facts and tone(probably due to language difference)..in entire video he clearly states that homeopathy seems more like pseudoscience and working principle of homeopathy largely seems to depend on placebo effect and long comsultation time..he has no where supported homeopathy except in last part where he quotes that it works better on children and is more effective in arthritis... Your arguments against him are not valid..you say that why he has not told other criticism of homeopathy..I mean missing 1-2 points cant be taken as being biased..his conclusion is also fair..he has tried to give a balanced opinion with tilt toward the fact that homeopathy is pseudoscience..it would have been better if you would have made a separate video on why homeopathy is pseudoscience..there was no need for making a video, criticizing a relatively unbiased video..
That a trick ... If I have to pass on a fake 500 RS note... The most effective way is to put d fake note in a bundle of real 500rs note... Similarly 1 lie among 3-4 truth is still a lie.... Hi, Is this video also made in some of the Indian languages (like kannada or Hindi)? This could be a really good information to share in family groups 😃.
I have seen many videos of open letters. I think he mostly does not reach to final conclusion of a discussion to avoid any criticism. He only explains thing from different perspective.
Once you put 10 points against a particular thought and 1 or 2 points for it, its evident what you are trying to say. Same with Open Letter, he may not have given his final conclusion but it is pretty much evident.
@@AP-eb8hd i have watched his homeopathy video. I think it was good and informative. And after watching that i still think homeopathy is placebo and not good.
@@sunitsundarpradhan1016 It is placebo only... What do you mean not good? Another important thing to know.. How will you actually explain Placebo in scientific term?
Hi Science is Dope,
Thanks for making your reaction to our video. Really appreciate all your criticisms on our work. Here are a few comments from our end, which we think would be helpful for the viewers who may not have watched the original video -
1. You called our conclusion in the video in support of the homeopathy, but that is not how we see it. Here is our actual conclusion from the video for your reference -
‘Homeopathy has its own benefits along with very serious criticism.
However, its sad to see that without ever showing our conclusion in full, you chose to call it dangerous and ‘in support of homeopathy’
2. You have drawn conclusions from the structure of the video and claimed that the information regarding existence of AYUSH ministry, size of homeopathy market are there to show that its very good. This is not the case. Here is how we have structured the video -
a) Giving introduction about the homeopathy in its current adoption to showcase that while many of us moved on from this and probably never come across this, its still very popular. The intent of this section was to showcase that its not some obscure topic that we are talking about
b) Right after this, we give a historical account of allopathy and how its shortcomings gave birth to homeopathy.
We are still wondering why you chose to not include all of this context in your video and chose to give conclusion that this was all done to support homeopathy
e) After talking about criticism of homeopathy, we talk about why homeopathy works.
We really liked some of your criticism/suggestions -
Adding sources to description is a good idea, however, so many links in description section makes it very cluttered.
Ohh Mahh Gaawd You watched this video🦁

Right, evidence based medicine is the best term.

In those cases, If you're not vehemently opposing it, you fall on the side of it by default, which is, indeed, like you said......Dangerous.
yes some channels has mastered the art of bothsideism.
They have wrong kind of centerist approach. Politics, economics isn't always black and white and depends on too many factors, so centerist approach is the best. But homeopathy is bogus no matter what.

@MORPHINE There's nothing false in what he said. Can you give me a few examples on the false things he said?

Selected homeopathic change of symptoms periodically monitored. Results: All 9 patients (5 male and 4 female) detected with renal calculi measuring between 5 and 7 mm expelled their stones through urine after homeopathic treatment as confirmed by USG. Similarly, 4 out of 5 patients with stones measuring more than 7 mm also expelled their stones successfully with homeopathic remedies; one patient with the largest stone (16 mm) was greatly ameliorated with the stone size reduced (9 mm). Conclusion: Homeopathic treatment can remove renal stones without surgery and can provide an alternative option for non-invasive treatment.

Hey mate you're going ruffle a lot of feathers with videos like these. Stay safe. A lot of religious as well as nationalist people would want to cause you harm for debunking pseudoscience in their religion or for discrediting India's glorious past.

Modern evidence based medicine
How interesting it is Homeopathy was introduced some 200 years ago, then also there were criticism and today also its the same, but Homeopathy on the hind side just like before is curing and benefiting the general masses despite being the pseudoscience, how interesting is that why don' t you research the other way that how many sources or researches are there in favor of Homeopathy. Reading google articles and articles being funded by the pharma world doesn't make you intelligent about something which is already being question after its discovery.
hope you never use Homeopathy, as its Placebo effect and contains Steroids, which can kill you eventually. Stay safe and stay healthy.
i was waiting for this ... awesome ... Open letter does this trick in all his videos, he tells some truths and then he propagates his lies. Old trick but works everywhere.
People like you are extremists.....They think what their opinion is true and rest is false..... Reality is, in fact, grey..it is never black and white....The inability to see things in spectrum of grey , is what made you Rigid Hyper rationalist
To everyone supporting homoeopathy - If you can prove that homoeopathy works, you can go ahead and claim the Nobel prize in Physics next year. :)
@EliteGuy why

A request : Please make a video on how unscientific claims are made to justify women not being able to worship inside a temple, when their menstruation cycle is on. People need to be educated on this. It's high timeee
It'll get him cancelled bro, right wingers won't take it lightly
@@youreright3802 Sure they'll try, but I don't think they'll be able to. He has good support :)
Generally women feel sick during those days. So it's a suggestion to them not to a rituals and house works and others. later on it became a superstition but just think in normal way.... it's giving freedom to a women not to do anthing on those days .
@@vamsiakula9860 Some give this reasoning, when in actuality the period blood is deemed ' dirty ' by the people opposing women entry. In today's times, the people are conveniently forgetting not letting women do household chores as they're sick, but do remember to not let them do pooja or even visit a temple. I have legit seen a Tedx talk talking about how temples are built in places of high energy and women undergo low vibrations during their menstrual cycle, so this is the reason why they aren't allowed. Like which high energy exists there, & if it really is there, we should definitely tap into it to generate electricity or somethin'
According to science, God does not exist, so going to the temple itself is an unscientific thing.
Solution of mehengai and garibi (inflation and poverty) - do you people know that petrol can be made with plastic , world's cleanest milk is made in lab with the help of fermentation process , you can grow vegetables and fruits indoors with the help of artificial sun light , solar panels can generate too much electricity for next 25 years (without any maintenance cost) , water can be made with air through atmospheric water generator , rain water can be stored and used for household works with the help of rain water harvesting method .

Do the kids below two year also believe that they will be ok if they take medicine. How they get well. A kid took an allopathic medicine for a disease and not cured. But after taking homeopathy he got well. Is it possible due to placebo effect. Please give insight.
why you asking from him...he is not a doctor....he is just a youtuber....you should ask from a homeopathic doctor

I would avoid using the word “stupid” in your videos it may trigger sensible people. Instead use “likely little bit biased” or “likely little bit scientifically uneducated in graduate level statistics and scientific methodology” or “he oversimplified a complex subject that only PhD holders in pharmacovigilance master correctly”…. etc. Just an idea and my personal subjective opinion. And try to recommend at least three of five graduate or postgraduate textbooks at the end of the videos for people who want to go deeper into the subject.

Most of the BHMS doctors practice Allopathy / modern medicine
Yes. That's why they don't allow you to take prescription home because it's called cross pathy and every bams/bhms practitioner who have his own clinic does this. They could end up in jail.
You rock, man. If all of the Indians were like you, we'd already be the no.1 Scientific nation given all the ancient Science and Mathematics progresses that India had made. At this era, Indians are merely "proud" of Aryabhatta and Varahmihir while they're simultaneously being fooled out of their brains by frauds like Jaggi Vasudev, Zakir Naik and Nityananda.
To be a rapidly developing nation in Science, people don't necessarily have to be all famous scientists, just need to have intuitive and progressive mindsets.
You are Wong about one thing in homeopathy the liquid medicine in not full water it contains alcohol between 50% to 90% by volume.
Yes, and then people drink the no side effect tincture and it fries their liver.
i said the same thing to my friend suffering from excess uric acid in body, he still went for homeopathy for 2 months it didn't make his health better but since he followed strict diet i.e., not eating outside food and non veg oily foods his uric acid was under control didn't become worse. finally after 2 months of homeopathy he decided to go to actual doctor now taking proper medicines, even the doc said homeopathy is just a gimmick.
Haha... my uric acid got controlled by homeopathy only.
I have seen alternative medicine doctors say that modern medicine doctors are not giving full information to patients about how to stay healthy because they want to fill their pockets. (And not in a plain sentence. They would tell a story.) But I have never seen a modern medicine doctor not doing it. Apart from prescribing medicines, they also say what to do and what not to do in daily life to get better soon.
True, modern medicine doctors are just filling pockets. Nothing else. I got typhoid, they didn't ask to change my food even

Bro please make videos in hindi that way your audience will expand and the majority of people who fall prey to pseudoscience and fallacies are illiterate and don't understand a single statement in English. U know my father had cancer ,he had a surgery and doc said he won't survive for more than a yr , then he went to some homeopathy doctor he was quite expensive and we didn't believe in homeopathy either but somehow he survived on homeopathic medicines for 3+ yrs ,at the end he stopped consuming it for a yr his condition got worse and sadly he left us in 2019, yeah i used to no believe in homeopathy but he did survive on them for more than awhile , he even got his liver cirosis treated with it . So my personal opinion about it is , it is effective if ur homeopathy doctor is good ,my brother uses homeopathic medicine for animals and they r a very effective. So i kinda don't agree with this video cause what i saw , but no idea about this generic stuff i m not a medics expert , damn i didnt knew u didn't know Hindi till now

On what?
Seeing that you have improved your videos quality , not only the editing but also the writing which makes the video more bearable and less boring which your earlier videos were. Happy for your videos
But to a listerner it's creates smoke screen and dilemma. It's a intelligent way and more dangerous than out right hate monger or liers

Once you put 10 points against a particular thought and 1 or 2 points for it, its evident what you are trying to say. Same with Open Letter, he may not have given his final conclusion but it is pretty much evident.
