    My father is Doctor (MBBS). I had IBS, for which I took treatment for more than 3 years, but no luck. Then my father who is doctor himself, took me to his friend who is ayurvedic doctor (vaidya). He enquired about me, my lifestyle, eating and sleeping habits examined me and then told me it would take 6 months to cure. I took the medicines for around 7-8 months. This was in 2015. From then till now it's been 9 years in 2024 I am all good without any medicine.

      I suffered from gluten related injury and IBS from the age of 14 after introduction of wheat in Kerala. By 26 intestine snapped and started bleeding. Necrotic intestine. I survived. Most allopathic medicines like flagyl were banned. By 37 I took a Bengali with acute Entamoebic infection to a 90 years old ayurvedic sage. I also followed instructions irregularly. My Bengali friend was completely cured. I got intermittent relief. Now I am 75 I watch with scorn gastrologists still in infancy with around 16 nonsensical medicines.

    I know some Allopathic Doctors with a PhD Who prescribes Ayurvedic Medicine *Caripill* ( Carica Papaya leaf extract) to treat Lowered levels of Platelets caused due to Dengue 😅

    • @chandramoulisanthanam6964
      @chandramoulisanthanam6964 2 месяца назад

      An allopathic doctor prescribing a herb for a disease does not make Ayurveda a legitimate branch of medicine. The criticism on Ayurveda has always been this - there is no logic and precision in the ayurvedic formulations and no repeatability, consistency in the ayurvedic treatment.
      The pathophysiology of diseases as per Ayurveda are laughable at best. At the base of Ayurveda are the three doshas - Vaatha, Kapa and Pitha. What the hell is even a Vaatha? How do you PRECISELY define it, and how do you measure it? All developments beginning from this unverified, random and speculatory base is just going to be random.

    • @thepalebluedot4171
      @thepalebluedot4171 19 дней назад

      Nobody practices "Allopathy"
      Caripill is not "Ayurvedic" its preparation is not mentioned in any texts. Caripill is a papaya leaf extract, which means it can be termed only as a "herbal preparation" which is different.
      Caripill (a branded papaya leaf extract tablet) and papaya leaf extract are thought to help increase platelet counts, particularly in cases of dengue fever. The exact mechanism isn’t fully understood, but research suggests a few possible ways that they may work:
      1. Active Compounds: Papaya leaves contain bioactive compounds, such as flavonoids, tannins, and glycosides, which might play a role in stimulating platelet production or slowing their breakdown.
      2. Thrombopoietin Stimulation: Some studies suggest that papaya leaf extract may increase the production of thrombopoietin, a hormone that regulates the production of platelets in the bone marrow.
      3. Antioxidant Effect: The antioxidant properties in papaya leaf extract could reduce oxidative stress on blood cells, protecting platelets from damage and enhancing their function.
      4. Anti-inflammatory Properties: In dengue, inflammation and immune reactions can reduce platelet counts. The anti-inflammatory properties of papaya leaf extract might help mitigate this impact and promote a quicker recovery in platelet levels.
      While studies show promising results, more research is needed to confirm how effective papaya leaf extract is in increasing platelet counts and to fully understand its mechanisms.
      When research is done understanding the whyness of the supposed result of papaya leaf extract and Caripill, then even this understanding will be included in the pages of science not "allopathy"

    I am glad you are presenting on this topic - In the example you give of ' Jaundice " and that Ayurveda would treat them all the same - That is simply not true ..A skilled practitioner would not treat them all the same. they would read the pulse and examine the tounge - examine the quality of the speech, the eyes, ask about urine - color/ quality and quantity - same for stools- ask about sleep - ask about life stresses, ask ' what else has the jaundice person tried and has there been any benefit? I admit I am an Ayurvedic practitioner ( that is born in the west - so I was raised with Allopathic medicine and I value it too ). However, I would use caution to say " Allopathic medicine is a scam with the pharmacutical companies making contracts with allopathic hospitals - that ' require" MD s to " offer" what even new ( expensive ) drug that has been created -( even tho the old - or generic version may function quite well ). Please note - if I had Heb B. - I would likely go with an Allopathic route initially - to get blood work / exacting scientific tests , ect. then use all of my knowledge of Ayurveda and western herbs to support my liver. Please Please stop vilifying alternative forms of medicine - we would do better to create systems of confluence rather than exclusion

    The liver is the mula(root) off the the rakta vaha srotas(blood carrying channels) and any herb that is consumed has to get processed by the liver before entering into the bloodstream to be sent to the deeper tissues. An herb like Ashwaganda which is a heavy heating and unctuous herb that should be used with caution and is even contraindicated in conditions where many toxins(āma) are present in the body(which would automatically mean the liver is a bit taxed) coupling that with the amount of self prescribed Ashwaganda usage due to its effect on building muscle and reproductive tissue people have been taking very large dosages to try to “maximize” its effectiveness. Ayurveda says each and every substance can be medicine or Can ve poison and it entirely depending upon for whom, how much and when. That goes not only for herbs but any substance. This is another reason it’s extremely important to not self prescribe if in-depth insight into the action of these powerful herbs is not understood and why if one is wanting to consume natural medicine like herbs, to consult an Ayurvedic Vaidya(Doctor)

Remember a bad Modern medicine practitioners doesn't mean Modern medicine is not good. Ayurveda text AS medicine is written at time when they had nothing byt today you have every information why wasting that amount of money or resources on it just to prove it correct, instead use that money to lead those textual observations into knowing what we should not continue anymore be it from ayurveda or modern medicine, I mean are actually giving priority to those practice which were written at time of lack of info inside of your body...

What is this? Is it not use by different practitoner? The person is highly unscientific as he comments without knowledge

    PM Modi, a while back at an AYUSH summit, mentioned how ex-Kenyan PM’s daughter regained her lost eyesight after ayurvedic treatment. This is an influential family with access to the best medical care available in the world. The daughter who lost her eyesight because of optic nerve atrophy had tried every other treatment under the sun before finally resorting to Ayurveda. The daughter, Rosemary Odinga said “My father met the PM and was full of praise for the traditional Ayurvedic system that has helped me. He also discussed bringing traditional medicines to Africa.” There are hundreds of such testimonials. I will not write off Ayurveda just because it's known as pseudo-science. It needs revival and of course a lot of clinical trials etc. but it will get there.

    I was your follower before few years, but then you started inclining towards a lot of unscientific things which being a science student doesn't resonate with me. I belive one should be open to new perspectives if they are to hold podcasts with people in various fields otherwise this gives an impression that you want to defend the opinions that are opposite to yours.
    I hope you understand that am not criticizing for the sake of it, i genuinely feel that the content you put forward is more inclined towards unscientific things mostly. Or at least that's what the youtube shows me, based on which the viewer creats an image of you.
    Also after reading the comments, i do understand why you make the context you make, maybe thats what a set of people want to see. In that case, everything does make sense. Though its very sad to see people having closed minds in the comments aswell.

      Ayurveda is not just plant medicine, it is a system of medicine. Ayurvedic treatments claiming to address the root cause of the disease does not change the fact that the principle of Ayurveda does not have any testability, falsifiability, repeatability and consistency. It is simply not any evidence based. Whatever you see about 'Ayurvedic trials' are just reports, anecdotes and very ill designed clinical trials.

      @@sujithkvarghese5616 I did watch the video. He has claimed that Ayurveda is based on beliefs that are 3000 years old that being applied in the modern age without any clinical backing and reproduceability. According to him, the only useful aspect of Ayurveda is its accumulated knowledge of herbs. That's some of the dumbest stuff I have heard. Anybody who has undergone proper Ayurvedic treatment would know that it's not just a system based on beliefs. It's based on an intrinsic observation and knowledge of the body which may not be measured by the means we have now.

  • @deepakanandmani
    @deepakanandmani 9 месяцев назад +5

    Ayurveda doctors will not discount modern medicine. However Modern Medicine cannot coexist with Ayurveda. Not everything can be measured either. Energy is one example, if someone says I feel tired can you measure the energy that that person needs?
    Conversely when some says Thyroid levels is in the normal range, does that mean it's functioning correctly for that specific person -- even though the body has symptoms, such as fatigue and insomnia? No, THEIR body needs are different.
    We can clearly see modern medine has holes in analysis.
    Analysis is not exclusive for modern medicine either. The depth of analysis can be done for Chinese, South American and Indian medicine as well.
    Poor form from the doctor here, highly biased when he says even after two decades Ayurveda reasearch cannot change.

    • @debishasharma
      @debishasharma 2 месяца назад +1

      If thyroid is functioning correctly, you test the person for other things such as haemoglobin levels, vitamin levels etc. If all physical parameters are ok as per lab report, you do a psychological evaluation. 90% time you will be able to find a root cause using modern medicine and then it can be treated.

    First of all kudos to Ranveer 👏👏 for watering down some of the outrageous comments made by this doc. The doc is obviously very ignorant of true Ayurvedic principles and wisdom based on basic principles of the Cosmos. You cannot learn about Ayurveda from books that you have acquired. That’s like saying , “I have all the medical books and have read them and I know all about modern medicine.”
    Ayurveda is personalized medicine based on the premise that every individual is a unique body type, prakruti and so many factors like diet, lifestyle including sleep, stress etc, emotional health, seasons, the place you live and stage of life all have an impact on our health. It is not just a disease curing science but preventing it in the first place. While Modern medicine is disease focused in treatment, Ayurveda is a holistic medicine treating the whole person body, mind and spirit.
    Jaundice is a modern term for a disease. Ayurveda does not treat diseases but imbalance in the body. These imbalances start manifesting way before it gets the modern name. By the time a person comes to a doctor, it has already gone through the first 3 to 4 stages described in Ayurveda. I can go on and on.
    Herbs are not the first course of treatment with true Ayurvedic approach. You always work on the client’s diet and lifestyle to weed out the causative factors before you think about herbal Rx. Unfortunately in the modern times the practitioners in India have adopted the modern medicine way:
    1. By starting with herbs which is not the ayurvedic way. Maybe business?
    2. Secondly the patient/client being used to taking meds to help and not taking charge of their own health, feel satisfied only when they get some medication.
    3. Third factor is many people hear from friends and family and abuse these supplements without understanding what they need.
    Ashwagandha is very heating and can cause liver damage taken by the wrong person, like a Pitta person.
    All of this is because of how Modern medicine has caused a shift in our thinking.
    Anyway like Ranveer said please have Dr.Robert Svoboda or David Frawley, westerners who have adapted this to come forward and explain it. I have studied in the US from third generation Vaidya and having begun as a dietitian in modern medicine over 30 years ago, adding Ayurveda 10 years ago to my tool box has given me more success with health and healing. My husband is a kidney doctor as well so I would never knock modern science. There is value in both systems but for the chronic illnesses we face today which are primarily lifestyle diseases, integrative Ayurveda in practice is a great boon.🙏🏻
    Last comment, this is from our vedic scriptures, so wonder if this doctor maybe biased because of that? Something to ponder about. 🤔

    • @debasmithmishra7871
      @debasmithmishra7871 9 месяцев назад +1

      Firstly, it is crucial to acknowledge that every system of medicine has its strengths and limitations. Ayurveda, a traditional Indian system, is undoubtedly rich in its holistic approach to health. However, it is essential to avoid idealizing it and recognize that, like any system, it has evolved over time, and its principles may be interpreted differently.
      The assertion that one cannot truly understand Ayurveda through acquired books is questionable. While hands-on experience and guidance from knowledgeable practitioners are undoubtedly valuable, dismissing the significance of written knowledge seems overly restrictive. Modern medicine heavily relies on research, textbooks, and accumulated knowledge for its advancements.
      Furthermore, the comparison between Ayurveda and modern medicine oversimplifies the complexity of healthcare. Modern medicine is continually evolving, incorporating aspects of personalized medicine, genomics, and lifestyle interventions. It is not merely disease-focused but increasingly embraces preventive measures and considers individual variations.
      Lastly, insinuating bias in the doctor's perspective based on Vedic scriptures raises questions about objectivity. In the pursuit of understanding and improving healthcare, i think it is crucial to approach discussions with an open mind and avoid attributing motivations to individuals based on their background or beliefs.

    • @vpknutrition-integrativehealth
      @vpknutrition-integrativehealth 9 месяцев назад +2

      @@debasmithmishra7871 thanks for your detailed response to my comment. As I mentioned in my response if you read correctly, I believe in integrating both systems for diet and lifestyle and our body can heal itself given the right conditions. I have a lot of doctors in my family including my husband and daughter. I am not idealizing Ayurveda but pointing out the tremendous value it holds for our modern lifestyle diseases.
      Unfortunately Modern medicine is very much a pill pushing system today, not blaming the doctors because that is the training and most doctors don’t have the time for much more than that. Research is also focused on pharmaceuticals and can be biased. Ayurveda in India is also being practiced like modern medicine giving a ton of herbal supplements which I have explained in detail and that is not true Ayurveda.
      Having studied Ayurveda in the last several years has opened my eyes to things that I never got out of Modern medicine. I have applied it to my own life and it has made a tremendous difference. It has made a great impact on my patients as well. So unless you have actually practiced it, there is no way for you to know. Reading books is just intellectual exercise. Enough to pick up some points to speak against it like this doctor has done. 🙏🏻
      Yes questioning if there is bias based on Vedic scriptures is not too far off since many of this knowledge which was practiced in ancient times and woven into our culture was systematically destroyed by the Britishers who invaded India to introduce their brand of medicine. Again not knocking modern medicine, just pointing out that bias is possible for self preservation.
      Anyway there is no reason to discuss further. I have clearly mentioned my credentials. I am curious to know yours if you are willing to share. Thank you!
      I do think, as Ranveer mentioned he needs to bring in an Ayurvedic expert, who understands the ancient teachings correctly to have a discussion. Dr.Lad brought Ayurveda to America over 50 years ago. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi brought it in the 70s. Yoga has been pulled out as a separate system but both are based on the same philosophy. These things will not be shining in the West unless they have value.
