What if we make the movie... Christmas Tree of Might..." "...Shit that's good."
The reason Turles looks like Goku is because he's a representation of what Goku would have become if he never hit his head. The in-lore reason is... he just does.
I think Turles explained that his class was so low that they looked the same, not that they were brothers. Still all the Abridged movies are based off of DBZ movies or specials, the christmas recurring jokes continues onto many a movie too

3:00 there are some examples of "monkey paw" wishes like that in the series though. Pilauf and his gang wish to be young again, and get turned into kids, fairly certain they also make the distinction between immortality and invulnerability with a villain once who wishes for the wrong one too.

Did you guys skip the dead zone movie? pretty sure that takes place before this one, I also think worlds strongest does but they abridged that one later. Also the reason that they explained away the look similarity back in the day, I'm pretty sure them saying something about most low class sayins have a gene or something that gives them a similar look. Basically the main reason Shenron doesn't twist your wish is because if you were a normal person, you'd have to travel the earth to find all the dragon balls, which would normally take years to find without a radar. The whole point was that if you were willing to search high and low for these dragon balls, you'd rightfully earn whatever wish you asked for. Then Bulma (or her dad) made a radar that said f@ck that and almost instantly find them anywhere.
Would you try on Oolong's first wish? I would. He wished for the comfiest pair... They're magic. If given the option to find out, I would want to know.
Shenron was always a bit ominous with his booming voice. But TFS obviously enhanced it. You guys saw Shenron being summoned by Roshi & Bulma in episode 6 (in words of TFS by the characters who actually did something in previous series, but not in this one) to wish Goku back because Nappa and Vegeta were approaching Earth.

DBZ movie 9, Bojack, is the only one (of the original 13 1990s movies) that could be in continuity, but Team Four Star never got to it despite setting up Bojack as a character (he's the pirate at the core of King Kai's planet). They said that trying to write it broke them because they just couldnt come up with funny material and were burned out from the main series and decided to end it where they'd ended things with Cell.

Dude, Turles HD to have been Goku's twin brother. They're the same age, and given the unusual genetic attribute of Goku's family of the second son of the father always look JUST LIKE the father, but the first son doesn't comes true here, as well. Think about it. It started with Bardock, Goku's father. His first born son Raditz, looks nothing like him. But then Goku was born and he looks like Bardock (as well as Turles). Then Goku grows up and has a son, Gohan, who looks nothing like him. When the second son, Goten, comes along, he looks EXACTLY LIKE GOKU! So that particular genetic marker must be true all the way down the line. That explains Turles' appearance way better than a clone, or "just another Saiyan that just HAPPENS to look EXACTLY like Goku, except for his grey coloring."
The reason why Turles looks exactly like Goku is that low-class saiyans only have a limited variations of how they look. Meaning that before Freeza wiped out their planet, there was a bunch of saiyans that just looked exactly alike. Turles in no way related to Goku, Bardock or anyone else.

The plots of the movies before Broly are all just rip-offs of the regular show arcs since Toriyama was too busy to right new stories or do anything beyond provide character designs, so animators had to fly solo and played it safe. Before Broly and Cooler's Return these were just being made to promote the show at trade events since there was no internet at the time to market. This is just basically the second part of the Saiyan Arc when Nappa and Vegeta come, Deadzone is the first part Goku and Piccolo have to team up to fight a powerful foe to save Gohan. World's Strongest is most like the OG dragon ball Red Ribbon army arc, but it's not 1:1 this one is somewhat unique Slug is the whole damn Namek Arc, but just on Earth this time same shtick as Frieza though, evil tyrant wants Dragon Balls to be immortal/have eternal youth Cooler is alt universe Freeza arc where Freeza instead died to the Spirit Bomb and Goku didn't go SS, he even has his own mini-Ginyu Force The Android 13 movie should be really obvious, three androids made by a mad scientist to kill Goku, they didn't even try here lol Fusion Reborn is the alt. universe Buu Saga, where Buu got killed by Gotenks so Goku and Vegeta stay dead, villain even goes from a fat childish demon-monster that likes to eat sweets/souls to a skinny serious demon man that needs Goku and Veggie to set aside their differences and fuse to be beaten Like bottom-left guy said if you didn't see em you didn't miss too much, I have a soft spot for a few like Broly, Cooler's Return, Fusion Reborn (obv the best), Wrath of the Dragon and Cooler's Revenge. The rest are pretty bad until they start making feature lengths when Beerus comes into the picture. The last four especially the Broly reboot and Super Hero are REALLY good and must-watches.

I recommend watching the creator commentaries after you finish the series. Even if you don't react to it it's still really interesting.
I really like how they kind of had Shenron sort of be the True Antagonist of this Movie, since he was responsible for Turles arriving at Earth.

Shenron is drawn as being many different sises. Sometimes hundreds of feet long. Sometimes seemingly thousands. It's really inconsistent.

Turles isnt another brother of Goku, like Turles said, he is just another saiyan from Planet Vegeta
DBZ movie 9, Bojack, is the only one (of the original 13 1990s movies) that could be in continuity, but Team Four Star never got to it despite setting up Bojack as a character (he's the pirate at the core of King Kai's planet). They said that trying to write it broke them because they just couldnt come up with funny material and were burned out from the main series and decided to end it where they'd ended things with Cell.
The one with Tapion could also fit in the continuity I think.

Turles isn't directly related to Goku, but they are the same race, and there's so few you can count them on your hand, so I guess calling them cousins makes sense.

Dude, Turles HD to have been Goku's twin brother. They're the same age, and given the unusual genetic attribute of Goku's family of the second son of the father always look JUST LIKE the father, but the first son doesn't comes true here, as well. Think about it. It started with Bardock, Goku's father. His first born son Raditz, looks nothing like him. But then Goku was born and he looks like Bardock (as well as Turles). Then Goku grows up and has a son, Gohan, who looks nothing like him. When the second son, Goten, comes along, he looks EXACTLY LIKE GOKU!
So that particular genetic marker must be true all the way down the line.
That explains Turles' appearance way better than a clone, or "just another Saiyan that just HAPPENS to look EXACTLY like Goku, except for his grey coloring."

The reason why Turles looks exactly like Goku is that low-class saiyans only have a limited variations of how they look. Meaning that before Freeza wiped out their planet, there was a bunch of saiyans that just looked exactly alike. Turles in no way related to Goku, Bardock or anyone else.

We aren't yet in Freeza saga, that 's after Ginyu saga. Both part of the Namek saga, so seeing Vegeta sitting on Dragonballs in Tree of Might would be correct 2-3 episodes ago.
@@embran8486 I was referring to the fact that the two movies I mentioned are before the frezzer/ginyu saga (that is, during the sayajin saga). I take the frezzer saga as everything that happens in namekusei as the ginyu forces are just more frezzer soldiers.

Shenron is pretty inconsistent on how generously he grants his wishes. Usually he grants the spirit of the wish in addition to the letter of it, but he has been maliciously compliant on a few instances.

Turles is not related to Goku in any way. Toei just decided they wanted to do an "Evil Goku" story and so just made Goku Black before Goku Black was a thing xD
The plots of the movies before Broly are all just rip-offs of the regular show arcs since Toriyama was too busy to right new stories or do anything beyond provide character designs, so animators had to fly solo and played it safe. Before Broly and Cooler's Return these were just being made to promote the show at trade events since there was no internet at the time to market.
This is just basically the second part of the Saiyan Arc when Nappa and Vegeta come, Deadzone is the first part Goku and Piccolo have to team up to fight a powerful foe to save Gohan.
World's Strongest is most like the OG dragon ball Red Ribbon army arc, but it's not 1:1 this one is somewhat unique
Slug is the whole damn Namek Arc, but just on Earth this time same shtick as Frieza though, evil tyrant wants Dragon Balls to be immortal/have eternal youth
Cooler is alt universe Freeza arc where Freeza instead died to the Spirit Bomb and Goku didn't go SS, he even has his own mini-Ginyu Force
The Android 13 movie should be really obvious, three androids made by a mad scientist to kill Goku, they didn't even try here lol
Fusion Reborn is the alt. universe Buu Saga, where Buu got killed by Gotenks so Goku and Vegeta stay dead, villain even goes from a fat childish demon-monster that likes to eat sweets/souls to a skinny serious demon man that needs Goku and Veggie to set aside their differences and fuse to be beaten
Like bottom-left guy said if you didn't see em you didn't miss too much, I have a soft spot for a few like Broly, Cooler's Return, Fusion Reborn (obv the best), Wrath of the Dragon and Cooler's Revenge. The rest are pretty bad until they start making feature lengths when Beerus comes into the picture. The last four especially the Broly reboot and Super Hero are REALLY good and must-watches.
Somehow newbies of DBZ Abridged always get Tree of Might as first movie to react to. But Dead Zone should be first, in fact before Nappa & Vegeta arrive on Earth!
