The "Why didn't you....DODGE!" part was a joke that TFS missed originally. They released the episode, and one of the OG comments was asking why they didn't make that joke. To their immediate and instant regret, and followed by making a note of it for when they did Kai.

@@ajibuanawibowo7778 As noted in their recent creator's commentary on FourStarBento, after episode 29 released 11 years ago, one of the first comments asked why TFS did not use the "Why didn't you dodge!?" joke between Gohan and Piccolo (after Piccolo was shot by Freezer at the end of the episode). Taka, Lani, and Kaiser noted the joke down, so that they could use it for Kai Abridged, having regretted that they missed the easy joke.

That tutor was real. He talked shit about Goku always fighting and never being there. Chi Chi literally opened a window and threw his ass out once she overheard it.
And then when he dared try to talk back, he learned that Chi-Chi is not nearly as passive as Gohan.
Yeah, name of the episode (English) was "Frieza's Counterattack". Still have an original animated cell from that episode.

Regarding the whipping, that was part of that arc. It also seemed to be a common trope in the 80s. I've seen it a couple of times before.

@@daryl772003 Probably because at a glance, it looked like the video was setting up some kind of sponsorship. So they likely stopped the video before realizing that it was actually a bit.
I remember Chi Chi didn't know that tutor was "disciplining him" with a whip and disagreed with the method of hurting her son like that, still was super messed up though.
I was absolutely FLABBERGASTED that they skipped that. I almost stopped watching the video right there. I mean, I definitely paused to come down here to check to see if I was alone in being disappointed in them missing that ABSOLUTE gem of a bit.
To be fair, whips are fun to crack.
They weren't setting up a Hellsing abriged series, they were referencing another series that they had running at the same time as DBZA (It started after DBZA began but ended before it ended). It's also really good and you guys should check it out.

Their HFIL series are absolutely worth the watch and it's their continuation of doing things with characters they've built up.
It would be a crime NOT to do HFIL. But before they do HFIL, they need to do Dragon ShortZ first, it's just a few episodes and it's meant to be a direct continuation as well and would pre-date HFIL I believe technically.
@@WildWombats they both run concurrently, what’s happening in the Shortz doesn’t affect HFIL and vice versa because we don’t know how time works in the afterlife, you can watch either in any order and it won’t change much.
I dunno. To each their own. To me the last episode of HIFL was funnier than all previous episodes of it combined, which barely tickled.

The DBS clips are in fact TFS! They just never posted them to RUclips, only Twitter. Which is why it's been compiled and uploaded by someone else.

Goku is a full blooded Saiyan and gohan is half human so their pain tolerance might not be the same. @@windhelmguard5295
@@windhelmguard5295 I think it was more that since he didn't like fighting & isn't a fan of violence, the whip smacking (while not actually hurting) was making him rather upset and the flinches was just a reaction of frustration cause he couldn't retaliate to make the guy stop since Gohan probably assumed his mom would be mad at him if he did, until she came in there herself. 🤔

for context kai 2.9 abridged was released on April 1 and was a April fools joke, they were just having fun with it.
Well there's that, but it's mostly just a reference to Kingdom Hearts 3.
Actually that Dragon Ball Super Abridged in the playlist was Team Four Star. They basically did these like single joke 5-15 second clips from Super while it was coming out. There’s like 6 of them and it’s mostly making light of even that were happening at the time in Super rather than a TFS take on the events and characters like with DBZA and Buu Bits.

Kai 3 is an interesting one. It's probably has the most deep cuts and self-referential humor. Jokes that include references to other TFS projects (Hellsing Ultimate Abridged, their DBcember ranking of best villains), Dragon Ball related news stories (the reveal that long time series composer Kenji Yamamoto plagiarized a TON of his work), or the writer's personal feelings about the original series (Gohan peaked at the Cell Saga).
Can't forget how 17 and 18 were always a part of the story.

For context, the video is some or all of the shorts they uploaded to Facebook when Dragon Ball Super was coming out, which I don't think they ever officially uploaded them to YT.

10:15 yeah it was part of a filler episode that basically criticized some "trend" that was happening of moms getting physically abusive tutors for their kids, it forever cemented chichi as a bad mother to Gohan for me because even though she didn't knew when she got him when she kicks the guy out she did it literally for all of the wrong reasons, like he literally makes Gohan bleed near the eye in front of her and she says nothing but then he insults Goku and she's like "hey" then he insults Gohan to which she has no reaction but then he insults Goku again and she was like "I've had enough" then she proceeds to no apologize to Gohan for not believing him when he told her nor for hiring the tutor

the solar flare in Kai 2 is Nick "Lanipator" Landis dressed as Frankenfurt from "Rocky Horror Picture Show" from a convention appearance TFS did yonks ago, you can find footage of the panel they did and Lani is doing a rendition of one of the songs Tim Curry sings in the film. According to Lani, Marc "Ganxingba" Soskin was embarrassed out of his mind by the performance.

Also GT is *fine*, it has its up and downs- I think Dragon Ball Dissection has been giving it a pretty fair assessment so far, pointing out what's good and bad, going through the first story arc

There actually is a Pokémon Abridged series. That's why there are 2 videos for Cell VS Pokémon: one in the style of DBZA, and one in their own style
The thing with Goku Black actually was TFS. They did a couple of Super related clips as Super was coming out (that one, one called Fight Counseling, and I think a couple more)
This is 5 months old so ods are this has already been explained but still: The reason Yugi appears at the end of the first Kai is because Littlekuriboh who made Yugioh abridged (Which he started before TFS started DBZA) did the voice for not only Yugi/Yami in his show but also Freezer in DBZA. It is also the reason Freezer says "But seriously what is today?" in episode 2 since Its sort of a running gag in Yugioh Abridged that Yugi will ask what time it is. (A pun on the famous quote "It's time to duel.")
So the “Why didn’t you dodge” joke was actually a joke a fan brought up in a comment in the episode it happened in and they asked themselves why they didn’t my make it so when they made Kai they added that joke. Yes that tutor was in the first episode of the Garlic Jr. ark for like a minute or two. Finally during one of their DBCembers they did Top 20 Villains and Cell was below King Piccolo.

Technically, 16 should be alive in the actual manga too. The Dragonballs revives Android 8, another fully-mechanical Android, so Android 16 should also have been restored by them.

Hellsing Ultimate Abridged was absolutely hilarious
Yeah Hellsing Abridged is good but it wasn't a series they did next it was one that was going alongside DBZA, though at a much slower rate with how it was handled but it is done so you can watch it all.
Also just to say there is two different "Cell vs" series technically. One is done by TFS and another by a different creator called DevilArtimis. DA's "Cell Vs" is even more comedic and chaotic so keep that in mind.

Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged is what started the abridged series. The early stages with the audio for voices is a little rough, but it progressively gets better. I watch it as much as I watch DBZA, so I would highly recommend it as a watch if its something y'all feel up too

I imagine that y’all are already planning to watch TFS’s Buu Bits, but you should definitely watch their Hellsing Ultimate Abridged next. They also referenced LittleKuriboh’s YuGiOh Abridged, and I absolutely recommend Code MENT from PurpleEyesWTF (Code Geass Abridged).
Gotta watch Yu-Gi-Oh abridged and Hellsing Abridged. Most to all of the characters in Yu-Gi-Oh abridged are voiced by the creator, LittleKuribo. You probably recognize him as the narrator and all of the Freeza forms in dbza. It’s pretty impressive.
Dbza kai is so rapid fire I love it also nappa wasn't wrong we absolutely quote everything he says Also GT was really good imo don't care what people say

I agree there. I liked GT. Not the soundtrack mind you, but the plot wasn't that bad, the scenery was fucking awesome, and the characters were cool.
My only major issues with GT were the pacing, and the lack of anybody really developing as fighters. Aside from Super Saiyan 4, Goku doesn't really feel like he gets any stronger from the start to the finish. Which was a really jarring change from how the entire story up until that point focused so much about Goku always growing as a fighter.
Everything else though was just fine. It had some interesting ideas for villains, I enjoyed how the opening arc had a bit more of an adventurous atmosphere to it, and the setup and pay-off for the Shadow Dragon Saga was pretty much the most perfect way the Dragon Ball story could've ended.
The Whipping Episode takes place I think Before the episode of Marron and the Garlic Jr Episodes . Chi Chi doesnt know he is whipping Gohan and kicks the teacher through a wall

24:10 - I've seen that exact toy, it's a Freeza toy that used a spring loader to shoot a plastic yellow energy blast out of it's mouth by flipping a switch on the back. Weird how the maker went in that direction when Freeza never actually used any ki attacks that fire from the mouth.
To explain the random Alucard cameos: TFS ALSO made Hellsing Ultimate Abridged a few years back which I still to this day go back to binge. If you guys plan on continuing to react to TFS content then I recommend adding it to your list
TFS is open about how LittleKuriboh was the first one to start with these abridged series with Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged. Fun fact: LittleKuriboh voiced Freiza on DBZA!
The guy in the red coat talking to cell about a cell versus is actually a really good abridged series TFS did before and during dbz abridged, basically like a yearly halloween special to cover all 10 original episodes of hellsing ultimate. I'm kind of surprised you haven't seen it because it is also a pretty popular project of theirs, and for good reason!

Yugioh abridged is bonkers. Definitely recommend watching whether or not you remember the show since it’s hard to be ready for how weird that story is EVEN for an anime. Also it’s both the first abridged series to exist, and the possibly only one that’s still going… albeit at a snail’s pace.
