    Would you consider doing a few comparison benchmarks at the full TDP of 35W? Or at least run one benchmark on Timespy and comment what you get?
    I know Intel lists 28W as the intended sustained TDP for the 155H, but this specific device is meant to go to 35W and advertises a Timespy score of 4100 when using that TDP (and the option was *right there*, it killed me when you decided not to try it, lol). Seeing how it really performs at 35W is basically the #1 thing many of us still on the fence about buying just want to see. Would you indulge us, pretty please?

I doubt we'll see them matching the performance of dedicated GPUs from AMD and Nvidia any time soon, but for a company that only started getting serious in the dedicated GPU market (and useful integrated graphics) within the last year and a half, I think they're doing quite well adapting and fixing many of the problems they had at launch. Incremental gains add up after a few decades, and I think that's one of the way Nvidia ended up where they are.

    I'm just a bit disappointed they went with Intel, though I am VERY glad to see that even if I do get an Intel based handheld device it isn't obligated to have an NVidia GPU as I do want to stay away from NVidia due to their business. While I still think Intel is pretty scummy with how they did AMD, even with AMD winning that lawsuit I was worried the litigation dragging on so long and their Bulldozer stuff was going to tank AMD. Thankfully they pulled through and are making Intel have to compete again, so I think that water is mostly under the bridge now.
    I use almost exclusively laptops but not as "desk" replacements, but actual lap devices and very, VERY often this use case causes issues with the barrel jacks wearing out and me having to replace laptops usually after 2-3 years, or just having someone competent replacing the barrel plug (I'm not nearly handy enough with a solder gun) to extend the life. Even had to have someone come and replace it due to having a great warranty for a year, because in under a year the power plug broke/damaged and was shorting out.
    So while you did most of your testing at 15-18W, my use case for this device would probably STILL be 90% plugged in. As of this very moment I am using a Lenovo Legion Go with the controllers detached and in the case, Go propped up with a hub, typing on a full size keyboard and external mouse. If I didn't buy this Go as recently as I did and still had the money, I think I would honestly have opted for the OneXPlayer here instead.
    Cheers and thank you very much for the review, it was very informative!

    My concern is the battery. It would be very embarrassing if I use it as a laptop for presentation (to customers) but not enough battery after playing like half hour on 3A games. The purpose of this console (so heavy & expensive) is to act like you get a handheld & same time laptop. But if after playing 30 mins games, then you don't have "enough" battery for your customer presentation, it would cause you big problems in (work) life. Because even a laptop cannot stand for 3-4 hours , but now is a 3-to-1 console. This is my most concern.

    Just picked up a Legion Go, but to be honest this looks like it checks even more boxes (except the very crucial one of affordability). I'm a Mac/iPhone user so having a laptop replacement/gaming console all-in-one isn't a priority for me since Windows isn't my ecosystem. The weakness of the keyboard though is a big issue were I to consider the X1. I suppose a keyboard that's 80% there is better than none at all but I'd have to experience it myself. I wish they would have incorporate the kickstand as you mentioned. That's one of my favorite features of the Legion Go, it's a perfect complement to the big screen which is still portable enough to travel with.

    Hopefully Intel will stay committed to working on drivers in the coming months and beyond. When you look at synthetics you can see the chip has raw potential to at least compete more closely with the 7840u/8840u than it is right now.
    Maybe I'm crazy but I am sticking with my X1 + OneXGPU preorder (32gb + 2tb version). It seems to me that I can expect a "low res 30 fps" experience out of the iGPU even with high-end games, which to me feels acceptable. Realistically, I spend 80%+ of my gaming time in a position to use an outlet/charger, so Oculink + OneXGPU will be accessible when I want/need higher performance levels anyway.
    Ultimately, the X1 is the only device in this market so far to truly capture the 3-in-1 concept that can basically be everything from a reading tablet, to a gaming handheld, to a production laptop, to a gaming PC hooked up to my big screen TV. Truly "all in one" and in a portable package to boot. So I guess you could say I'm more bought into the form factor than the chipset, and fwiw I've always been one to gravitate towards more "unique" technology for whatever reason. Crossing my fingers on this one lol.

  • @sindrisuncatcher653
    @sindrisuncatcher653 6 месяцев назад

    Gotta wonder why they're sending out review units of a 3-in-1 device with one of the modes completely missing and a second still in prototyping.
    Did you run any performance tests at higher than 25W? You show the handhelds built around a ryzen 7040 chip outperforming this significantly within their own ideal power range, but the settings on this range much higher by default so I'd definitely like to see how it compares at max power. Yeah battery life and thermals would suffer, but this device already has a bigger batter and seems to have better cooling than any of the direct competitors, which makes me think that the whole thing was optimized for a significantly higher TDP...

    I've been looking for a tablet to replace my 10 inch Galaxy S9. I love the Galaxy but I've become to accustomed to various Github app only available on Windows 11 so I'd like to switch operating systems.
    The Oculink is a big draw on the X1 but I'm not certain if the bulk would defeat the convenience I get with a slim Android tablet. I'm also not sure if I'd miss the AMOLED display I really love about the Galaxy and if the LTPS display would mostly satisfy.
