Most MTB shoes have hardened toe boxes these days so take a look around and you'll easily find something that fits your needs! We're highly impressed with Fox's Union shoe line, can't go wrong if you go that route.
Looks like this actually can be my next shoe. I sit here with a broken toe because I did smack it into a rock in my Fiveten Freerider Pro's. The shoes are ok, but no real protection. The thing I'm curious about though is if it actually can prevent a toe from being broken or if it's just a slight protection for less bruising? How burly is that protection really? As for the Boa system I'd take that over normal laces any day. Got it on my snowshoes and it's a lifesaver to say the least. So easy to pop in and out.
Giro Empire VR have 3 options, low, medium and high arch inserts. I have the lace version which at the time was the most comfortable, they are old now, and I've lost weight so the heel retention is a little off now so I'm looking for a flat boa option as I may go back to flats for a little bit.
As a part-time roadie, I’ve really come to love my BOA dials. Happy to see some good flat MTB shoes being made with BOA!
Have them and rate them highly! Still love my Sam hill 5 10’s for rocky terrain but for everything else I’ll wear my fox.
These look pretty great! Love the dual zone BOA. Might have to give these a go for my next shoe.
Thank you for mentioning the hardened toe box. I was looking for something like that. Smashed my toes on rocks a few times.

I’ve been wanting to check these out, glad to see some colors. Not sure if I can pull them off though 😂

What happens when that wire snaps.
Boa also offers a lifetime warranty on the actual boa - so depending on what happened to the boa they send you a rebuild kit, it's pretty easy todo
